The preliminary programme
Aim of the educational preceptorship
Treatment options for patients with unresectable head and neck cancer
have been significantly expanded over the last few years. Combined
modality treatment with concomitant chemotherapy and radiotherapy
represents the standard of care for patients with advanced head and neck
cancer and the introduction of new molecular targeted therapies lead to a
further improvement in treatment outcomes. This activity will offer the
opportunity to learn from a recognized and experienced multidisciplinary
team current therapeutic options for patients with advanced and metastatic
head and neck cancer. Effective interaction between the multidisciplinary
team and learners will be encouraged through clinical case discussion and
practical sessions dedicated to treatment planning and delivery.
Learning objectives
At the end of the educational preceptorship, the learner will be able to:
• Define the methodology of the multidisciplinary approach in the clinical
management of head and neck cancer patients
• Review current and novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of
head and neck cancer patients
• Recognize the importance of supportive care in the treatment of patients
with head and neck cancer
Target audience
International medical oncologists, surgeons and radiation oncologists
experienced in the management of head and neck cancer patients.
Accreditation
An application has been made to the EACCME® for CME accreditation.

Multidisciplinary case discussion
The management of head and neck cancers is complex and requires a
multidisciplinary approach. In this multidisciplinary case discussion,
clinical cases will be presented that exemplify standards of care as well
as open issues in the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancers.
The discussion between different specialists, as members of the
multidisciplinary team, will address different clinical scenarios and
suggest an integrated approach to the diagnosis, staging, treatment and
follow-up of patients with head and neck malignancies.
(all the learners will be involved)
