The British Racing & Sports Car Club BRSCC Photos: Jon Elsey Mazda MX-5 Championship www.brscc.co.uk BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship The BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship really is the affordable way to go motor racing and is the perfect starting point for those coming into the sport for the first time. There is a plentiful supply of Mk1s ready to race but even if you want to build your own car, donor cars are readily available and cheap to buy and convert. COSTS Below we have given an estimate for a typical budget required in the first year of racing; Race prepared second hand car: £4,000-6,000 Second hand trailer £800 Safety clothing/ helmet £600 Medical/ ARDS test/ MSA Licence £400 The 2014 season was another successful year with over 70 drivers registered for the Championship, with 49 cars turning out for the season finale at Donington Park in October. For 2015, we are expecting further growth and a great calendar of eight meetings featuring nineteen races is in place. BRSCC Racing Membership/ Championship Registration £425 Race entries (8 meetings) £3,160 The season starts on the Silverstone National circuit in April but the main highlight of the year will undoubtedly be the May double-header on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Other popular circuits such as Castle Combe, Rockingham & Oulton Park are also on the schedule before the season reaches a dramatic conclusion with the now traditional triple-header at Donington Park in October. Fuel (races & travel) £1,200 All of the events will feature 20-minute qualifying sessions and 20-minute races and will be broadcast on Motors TV throughout the season. The BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship will also feature a dedicated Race Centre at all championship rounds. This will be the focal point of the championship in the paddock and will enable all competitors and team owners a meeting point to socialise.
