SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2016: TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINAY TIME
Dear Parishioners,
I have some important news to share with you about comings
and goings at the Church of Saint Rocco (no, I am not leaving).
First, I want to extend my gratitude to Maureen on behalf of the
whole parish and my religious community for her efforts as
Music Director. Over the last three years, Maureen has worked
very hard to increase the scope and depth of our liturgical music. She oversaw the renovation and expansion of our organ,
she trained our new cantors and she revived the children's choir.
With appropriate notification, Maureen has informed me of her
decision to resign to move onto other musical pursuits; her period of service is now concluded. We also wish our cantor,
Morgan Manifacier, farewell as he has taken a new position
elsewhere. We thank him for his two years of service to our
parish and wish him all the best!
God has also blessed us with new personnel, whom I wish to
introduce formally today. First, I know many of you have already had the pleasure of meeting Kelsey McManus. She arrived a little over a month ago to work with us in serving God
in Glen Cove. To this end, I am pleased to announce that she is
working at All Saints and in our parishes as the new "Promoter
of Catholic Life". This new pastoral ministry encompasses a
wide scope of duties at All Saints as well as in Saint Rocco and
Saint Patrick. In this role, she will work to foster Catholic Life
in its various aspects of faith formation for adults and children,
young adult ministry and respect life. Kelsey has much to offer
and I hope that you will benefit from her faithful service to God
and our Catholic community.
Kelsey grew up in Fairfax, VA with her parents, two brothers
and a sister and belonged to Holy Spirit Catholic Church (my
first assignment - when I had less grey hair!). Kelsey earned a
Bachelors of Science (in Science Business) from the University
of Notre Dame, where she also played in the Notre Dame drumline. She has played percussion since fourth grade, especially
enjoying the marimba. Kelsey enjoys working with Catholic
teens in retreats, service projects and weekly activities. She is
passionate about promoting respect for human life in all stages.
In her spare time, she reads, hikes, travels, plays trivia and loves
spending time with family and friends. God has indeed blessed
us with a talented young woman who will be sharing her many
gifts with our parishes and school.
In addition to our new Promoter of Catholic Life, I am
pleased to be able to announce that we have already found a
new Music Director, Theresa Bissex. She will officially start
her position in November, but she will be helping out in the
coming weeks as her schedule permits. We are all excited and
amazed that such an excellent candidate should have come to us
so quickly as I had feared it might have taken a long time to
find someone. Theresa brings a range of expertise as organist,
choir director and vocalist. I am confident that she will be able
to carry on Maureen's good work and bring our worship of God
to a new level.
Please welcome Kelsey and Theresa to our parish! We are
very blessed to have the service to two young Catholic women.
God bless you,
Father Elias
Cari parrocchiani,
Innanzitutto, voglio ringraziare
così come in San Rocco e San Patrizio.
guadagnato un Bachelor of Science (in Science Business) presso
Padre Elias

Paul is regu-
for help from people who have fallen on hard times.**
After having surgery to manage severe back pain, a young woman
wasn’t able to work. That meant no paycheck!!
After 6 weeks of recovery and no paycheck, the rent was still due,
the electric bill due, she still needed to eat… Life still goes on,
right?
Now she is back to work and luckily feeling better. However, her
struggle continues to pay the overdue bills. She has done a great
job catching up but is struggling to pay the last part of the rent. Do
you have it in your heart to help a fellow citizen get some relief and
start out fresh? Can you imagine the relief this would offer?
Please help with your donation!
