rapid changes. Our profession has seen tremendous
growth, a rise in outsourcing and commodization of
project management jobs and more recently a stagnation
of wages during the great recession. However,
throughout these changes, some practitioners have
thrived and found opportunities to excel in leadership
roles on projects and programs. One thing has not
changed your project management services compete on
a global basis. The practitioner that has been most
valuable to executives during these times of economic
uncertainty can initiate and sustain change

efforts, manage complexity, work across the
organization, grow resource capabilities, deliver results
aligned with organizational strategic goals.
As economic optimism grows and organizations begin to
fund critical projects, there are projections of increased
job growth but also indications of an emerging talent
gap. Project managers who can fill this gap are likely to
experience a project management revival. These
practitioners have made their services distinguishable
from other project managers and executives quickly
recognize their value.
This presentation defines and discusses the service-based project leader.
This role is to lead and sustain transformation by creating experiences that
initiate the transformation of the people - starting with themself - then
systems and ultimately the organization. The qualities that make the servicebased project leader unique are Efficiency - focusing on high-value work that
impact project goals, Customization - tailoring methods and tools to meet
stakeholder’s needs, Foresight - a head start over your peers, and
Connectedness - creating a connection between project team members,
stakeholders and customers to improve productivity, decision making and
professional growth. The service-based project leader requires courage,
the alignment of convictions and purpose to succeed.

Filippo Dall’Olio. Laureato in Ingegneria Elettronica, diploma di
specializzazione superiore in telecomunicazioni, certificato PMP® e
CBAP®, ha un’esperienza più che decennale nella gestione dei
grandi progetti. È il responsabile del PMO nella Funzione Business
di Telecom Italia S.p.A.
Mirella Marcocci. Laureata in Ingegneria Elettrotecnica, specializzaz.
post laurea dell’Istituto Superiore Poste e Telecomunicazioni, Master
in Networking Cefriel-Reiss Romoli, certificata PMP® e CBAP®, ha
un’esperienza decennale nella conduzione di progetti ICT complessi
per i Clienti della Funzione Business di Telecom Italia S.p.A.
Giusi Meloni. Laureata in Lingue e Letterature Moderne, ha
conseguito il diploma di Counselling e la certificazione PMP®. Svolge
attività di formazione e consulenza nel Project Management ed è
socia di PMLab®. È stata VicePresidente Formazione del PMI-NIC.
Dal 2010 è membro del Comitato di Indirizzo del PMI® sull'Etica
(Ethics Member Advisory Group), che coordina dal 2013.
Oscar Pepino. Laureato in Scienza dell’Informazione. Chief Operation
Officer di Reply S.p.A. è responsabile di tutte le attività di Reply
inerenti il PMO e le iniziative di improvement correlate. Da più di 30
anni si occupa di progetti software e delle tematiche associate quali
Project Management, metodologie operative, Process Improvement.
Riccardo Conturbia. Laureato in Ingegneria Elettronica e certificato
PMP® lavora nel PMO Reply sulle attività di process and model
improvement, formazione sul project management, definizione ed
esercizio di policy aziendali.
Il PMI®-NIC è il primo Chapter italiano del PMI® per numero di associati (+1.600). Fondato nel 1996 da
un gruppo di 'pionieri' provenienti dal mondo aziendale, accademico e professionale, il PMI®-NIC si è
