CORTEO STORICO E DAMA VIVENTE – 10 e 11 settembre
"Dama Vivente" è una vera e propria partita a dama, giocata sulla suggestiva piazza a damier del centro
storico di Castelvetro, con pedine e damoni impersonati da bambini e ragazze (organizzata in anni pari).
"Festa a Castello" ricrea un banchetto rinascimentale con l'allegro contorno di musica, giochi, balli e cibi della
tradizione locale. A tale banchetto tutti possono partecipare, purchè indossino abiti rigorosamente
dell'epoca (organizzata in anni dispari). Questo evento rievocativo ricorda i festeggiamenti dei Marchesi
Rangone in onore del Poeta Torquato Tasso rifugiato a Castelvetro.
HISTORICAL PARADE AND LIVING DRAUGHTS – september, 10 and 11
“Dama Vivente” (Living Draughts) is a draughts game with real players in old-fashioned dresses organized in
the charming checkerboard square of Castelvetro. This historical commemoration remembers the celebrations
dedicated to the poet Torquato Tasso staying in Castelvetro during 1564 at the court of Rangone marques lord
of these lands. “Festa a Castello” (Party at the Castle) alternates every year with “Dama Vivente” and consists in
a rich Renaissance banquet, which can be accessed only by wearing clothes in Renaissance style. Musicians, fireeaters, gypsies and dances from the past entertain guests during the feast. In the afternoon, the historical
parade promenades across the streets of the village.
