hanno risposto ben 700 candidati, ma i
vertici hanno deciso di assumere un gatto.
L’azienda, specializzata nella vendita di
gadget on line, con questa originalissima
trovata pubblicitaria ha fatto il giro del
mondo. Il micio selezionato, guadagnerà
151 euro al mese che sono, spiegano dalla
direzione, molto più di quello che si guadagna in media nelle aree rurali. Bossy –
questo il nome del simpatico felino - avrà il
compito di posare in giacca e cravatta sulla
scrivania per video e scatti fotografici a
nome dell’azienda e viaggiare in limousine
come si addice a un vero leader.

amanti del vino. La stupefacente
costruzione è stata progettata e
realizzata da un architetto russo
di 52 anni nella piccola cittadina di
Chelyabinsk. L’uomo ha dichiarato
di essere sempre stato affascinato dal
riuscire a creare oggetti utilizzando
delle bottiglie di vino, vodka o
alcolici di vario genere, ma di essersi
convinto a costruire la casa solo dopo
la morte del figlio diciottenne. Le
basi strutturali sono solide e
realizzate come una casa normale,
ma l’esterno dell’appartamento è
ricoperto interamente di bottiglie.

lavorata a mano, dalla pizza ai dolci,
questo ristorante rappresenta l’autentica
cucina italiana nel cuore di Cuba.
Il rogo di marjuana fa sballare la città
La polizia locale di Tangerang, a circa 26 chilometri dalla
capitale indonesiana Jakarta, ha sequestrato 3 tonnellate
di stupefacente, già confezionata in pacchetti, pronta per
essere spacciata. Per distruggere l’ingente quantità di erba,
ha pensato bene di organizzare un falò pubblico, ma i suoi
effetti sono stati inaspettati. I cittadini, accorsi per assistere
al falò, si sono presentati senza protezioni: in tanti hanno
annusato il fumo della marijuana e sotto l’effetto della droga
si sono dati a scene di giubilo per le strade. In poco tempo la
nuvola di fumo si è diffusa raggiungendo anche le abitazioni
vicine e ben presto la cittadina intera era fuori controllo:
alcune persone saltavano di quà e di là altre invece ridevano
a crepapelle in mezzo alla strada senza che ce ne fosse il
motivo.

The house made of bottles
It took 12,000 bottles of champagne to build the house which is sure to impress wine lovers. The
incredible building was designed and built by a 52 year old Russian architect in the small town of
Chelyabinsk. The man said he was always fascinated by being able to create objects using bottles
of wine, vodka or alcohol of various kinds, but decided to build the house just after the death of
his eighteen year old son. The infrastructure is solid and built as a normal home, but the outside of
the apartment is completely covered by bottles.
The local police of Tangerang, about 26 kilometers from
the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, seised 3 tons of drugs
already packed in packages and ready to be sold. To destroy
the great amount of grass, they decided to organise a public
bonfire, but its effects were unexpected. The people rushing
to see the fire, arrived without protection: many inhaled
the marijuana smoke and under the influence of the drug
gave scenes of jubilation through the streets. Before long the
clouds of smoke spread to the nearby houses and soon the
whole town was out of control: some were jumping from
here to there while others laughed out loud in the street
without reason.

Un compleanno speciale per
l'Ex CAPITALE dell’Isla Grande, che
celebra cinque secoli di storia,
cultura, arte e buona cucina

C
inquecento anni di storia. Cinque secoli di splendori e battaglie, gioia di vivere e arte. Santiago di Cuba si festeggia così, con
l’orgoglio di una splendida città coloniale che è stata capitale
dell’isola ed è rimasta una straordinaria culla di civiltà oltre che di
allegria. Gli splendidi ritmi del Son sono nati qui, fra i sorrisi di questa
gente, in parte arrivata in schiavitù dall’Africa. Oggi Santiago è la
seconda città del paese, 780 chilometri a est de L’Avana, ma la storia
gli ha consegnato una serie incredibile di primati che custodisce con
fierezza. Venne fondata il 28 giugno 1515 da Diego Velazquez ed è stata
la prima capitale di Cuba, fino al 1549. Qui è sorto il primo edificio
costruito in America dagli europei, e anche la prima cattedrale cubana,
la prima miniera di rame a cielo aperto di tutto il continente e il primo
museo dell’isola. Non solo. Santiago è la sola città Eroe della Repubblica di Cuba, il luogo dove cominciò l’ultima tappa della rivoluzione
cubana con l’assalto, era il 26 luglio 1953, al Cuartel Moncada. Si dice
che a Santiago batta un cuore creolo. Ed in parte, almeno, è vero. E’
dal passato coloniale che la città trae gran parte del suo fascino, anche
se gli edifici riescono a fondersi in un unicum inimitabile con stili
architettonici che vanno dal barocco al neoclassico. Da non perdere,
nella visita della città, sono il Museo di Arte Coloniale che è stato allestito

A pochi chilometri da Santiago ci sono luoghi
che valgono almeno una visita. El Cobre, innanzitutto, a circa 20 chilometri. E’ il santuario dedicato alla Madonna, meta di molti
pellegrinaggi. A circa 30 chilometri si trova
invece la Gran Piedra, nella Sierra Maestra,
una gigantesca roccia di cui è stato perfino
calcolato il peso: 75 mila tonnellate che gli
sono valsi il titolo di più grande masso del
mondo. Da qui il panorama è splendido. La
Riserva della Biosfera di Baconao è stata dichiarata dall’Unesco Patrimonio dell’Umanità:
è un immenso parco dove si combinano spiagge, boschi, musei e anche centri di immersioni. La purezza del mare consente di ammirare moltissime specie di pesci ma anche di
visitare 73 relitti di navi.
IL Son cubano
Il Son cubano è un ritmo nato a Santiago di
Cuba verso la metà del XIX secolo. Nasce da
una contaminazione e dalla mescolanza tra la
tradizione musicale dei colonizzatori europei
e i ritmi degli schiavi africani. È il genere che
ha dato origine ai ritmi caraibici più ballati
oggi, primo fra tutti la Salsa ed è il primo ballo
caraibico concepito a coppia, che non si basi
su coreografie di gruppo. Insieme al Tango,
lo si può considerare il primo ballo di coppia
in senso moderno. Questo stile prese piede
all'inizio del XX secolo, trovando negli anni '20
e '30, la nascita di un vero e proprio fenomeno
culturale. Il Son deriva dal più aristocratico
Danzon, che a sua volta deriva dalla contradanza
ed è sicuramente il genere più rappresentativo
dell'isola, dal quale sono nati i ritmi e le melodie
del Mambo negli anni 40, il Cha Cha Cha e la
Salsa negli anni '50 e della Timba negli anni '80.
Uscendo dall'Isla grande, anche la Salsa detta
Portoricana o Newyorkese, sono stili sviluppatisi
negli anni '70 a New York e Miami (quindi non
a Portorico, dove come fenomeno di costume
sono arrivati così come li conosciamo solo
negli anni ‘90) e sono da considerare anch' essi,
derivanti dalla matrice cubana del Son.

delle residenze più antiche di Cuba. Proprio lì accanto si
trovano la Cattedrale, costruita nel 1523 ma poi rifatta diverse
volte, e il Museo Emilio Bacardi, che fu non soltanto il grande
dispensatore di rum, ma un uomo d’affari, un patriota e un
fraterno amico di Josè Martì, il poeta eroe della rivoluzione,
sepolto nel piccolo Cimitero di Santa Ifigenia. L’origine creola
arricchisce anche la cucina, con piatti straordinari, come
il maiale arrosto, servito con fagioli neri e riso bianco e accompagnato dall’irrinunciabile birra gelata. Una città che
è stata ribelle ieri ed è straordinariamente ospitale oggi. E’
l’anima di Santiago di Cuba e dei suoi abitanti, accoglienti
e fieri, gentili ma mai domi. Combatterono con coraggio
anche contro i pirati, ma sono stati anche capaci di insegnare
al mondo la difficile arte del far festa. Raccontano che già ai
tempi di Diego Velázquez, era segno di buon gusto ricevere
con onori gli stranieri e scatenare in loro onore un allegro
clamore che durava tutta la notte. I successori di Don Diego
andarono a prendere uomini dalla lontana Africa per il duro
lavoro ai torchi della canna da zucchero, e questi, malgrado il
triste destino di schiavi in una terra straniera, conservarono
la loro musica e la loro voglia di vivere. Proprio mescolando la
nobiltà spagnola e la spontaneità dell'africano si produsse una
delle più autentiche e genuine mescolanze delle Americhe,
che si arricchì ulteriormente anche con la cultura francese
arrivata da Haiti alla fine del secolo XVIII, dopo il trionfo
della Rivoluzione in quell’isola: canti, musica e danze degli
schiavi haitiani al seguito dei loro padroni, sono diventati
parte inseparabile di questo felicissimo incontro. I resti delle
piantagioni di caffè francesi si possono ancora vedere sulle
colline a est della città, mentre l’altro grande monumento
di Santiago, che ha contribuito alla conquista del titolo
assegnato dall’Unesco di Patrimonio mondiale dell’Umanità è
la Fortezza di San Pedro de la Roca del Morro che oggi ospita il
Museo della Pirateria. E poi, naturalmente, le spiagge: Siboney,
la più vicina e, forse, la più bella, e ancora, Baconao, Daiquiri,
Sigua, Verracoes, Playa Larga, Cazonal. Con le meraviglie
che Cuba sa offrire: mare splendido, sabbia bianca, musica,
allegria. Nella città maestra di ribellioni e festeggiamenti.

ive hundred years of history. Five centuries of battles and glory,
love for life and art. Santiago de Cuba is celebrated as such, with
the pride of a beautiful colonial city that was the capital of the
island and has remained an extraordinary cradle of civilization as
well as happiness. The wonderful rhythms of the Son were born
here, among the smiles of these people, in part arrived as slaves from
Africa. Today Santiago is the country's second city, 780 kilometers
east of Havana, but history gave it an incredible series of firsts that
it guards proudly. Founded on June 28th, 1515 by Diego Velazquez
it was the first capital of Cuba until 1549. Here was erected the first
building made in America by Europeans, also the first cathedral
in Cuba, the first open air copper mine of all the continent and the
first museum on the island. Santiago is the only Hero City of the
Republic of Cuba, the place where the last leg of the Cuban revolution assault began, on July 26th, 1953, at the Cuartel Moncada.
It is said that in Santiago a Creole heart beats. Partly, it is true. It
is from its colonial past that the city gains much of its charm, even
if the buildings merge into an inimitable unicum with architectural
styles ranging from Baroque to Neoclassical. Not to miss whilst visiting the city are the Museum of Colonial Art which has been set
up in the small but beautiful house of Diego Velazquez, one of the
oldest residences in Cuba. Right next door are the Cathedral, built
in 1523 but then rebuilt several times, and the Museum Emilio
Bacardi, whom was not only the great
dispenser of rum, but a businessman,
a patriot and a close friend of Josè
Martì, the hero poet of the revolution,
buried in the small Cemetery of
Santa Ifigenia. The Creole origins
also enrich the cuisine with extraordinary dishes such as roast pork served
with white rice and beans blacks, accompanied by a cold beer. A city that
was rebellious yesterday and today
is extraordinarily hospitable. It is
the soul of Santiago de Cuba and its
people, welcoming and proud, kind
but never dominant. They fought
with courage even against pirates,
but they have also been able to
teach the world the difficult art of
partying. They say that already
in the days of Diego Velázquez
it was a sign of good taste to
receive foreigners proudly and in
their honor unleash a cheerful
clamor that lasted all night. The
successors of Don Diego went
to take men from the far away
Africa to do the hard work on
the sugar cane farms, and these,
despite their sad destinity as
slaves in a foreign land, held
on to their own music and their will to
live. It was by mixing Spanish nobility
and the spontaneity of the Africans that
one of the most authentic and genuine
mixtures of the Americas came about,
which was further enriched with the
French culture arrived from Haiti at
the end of the eighteenth century, after
the triumph of the Revolution on that
island : songs, music and dances of the
Haitian slaves accompanying their
masters have become an inseparable
part of this happy encounter. It is still
possible to see the remains of the French
coffee plantations on the hills east of the
city, while the other great monument
of Santiago, which has contributed to
the title awarded by UNESCO of
World Heritage Site, is the Fortress
of San Pedro de la Roca del Morro
which now houses the Museum of
Piracy. Then, of course, the beaches:
Siboney, the closest and perhaps the most
beautiful, Baconao, Daiquiri, Sigua,
Verracoes, Playa Larga, Cazonal. The
wonders that Cuba has to offer: beautiful sea, white sand, music, fun. The city
tells of rebellions and festivities. Happy
birthday, Santiago, five centuries of
honor.
Wrecks and Sanctuaries
Few kilometers from Santiago
there are places that are worth
at least a visit. El Cobre, to
start, at about 20 kilometers. It
is a sanctuary dedicated to the
Madonna, destination of many
pilgrimages. At about 30 km
away there is the Gran Piedra,
in the Sierra Maestra, a gigantic rock of which they even
calculated the weight: 75,000
tons which earned it the title of
largest rock in the world. From
here the view is amazing. The
Biosphere Reserve of Baconao has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site,
it is a huge park which combines
beaches, forests, museums and
even diving centers. The purity
of the sea allows to watch many
species of fish but also to visit 73
shipwrecks.
The Cuban Son
The Cuban Son is a rhythm born in Santiago de Cuba in the mid
nineteenth century. It is born from the contamination and mixing of
the musical traditions of the European settlers and the rhythms of the
African slaves. It is the genre that gave rise to the Caribbean rhythms
danced today, first of all the Salsa and it is the first Caribbean dance
to be carried out in pairs, that is not based on group choreographies.
Along with Tango it can be considered the first couple dance in the
modern sense.
This style took hold in the early twentieth century, in the 20s and 30s
giving life to a true cultural phenomenon. The Son comes from the
more aristocratic Danzon, which in turn derives from the Contra
and it's surely the genre most representative of the island, from which
were born the rhythms and melodies of the 40s Mambo, the Cha
Cha Cha and Salsa of the 50's and the Timba of the 80's. Leaving
the Isla grande, also the salsa known as PuertoRican or NewYorker are styles developed in the 70s in New York and Miami (not in
Puerto Rico, where it arrived as a phenomenon only in the 90s) and
they too are to be considered born from the matrix of the Cuban Son.

ra il 1998 quando Papa Giovanni Paolo II mise piede
a Cuba, la prima visita pastorale nella storia dell’Isola.
In quell’occasione Blu e Panorama e Distal sono stati
partecipi dell’organizzazione del viaggio stesso e per
quell’occasione fu anche pubblicato da Distal un libro;
Cuba, te amo scritto da Alberto Michelini (Edizioni
Ares). Seguì Benedetto XVI, in visita nel 2012. Oggi
è la volta di Papa Francesco che prosegue il percorso
di evangelizzazione e di consolidamento dei rapporti
diplomatici tra la Santa Sede e Cuba. Il Pontefice è presente sull’Isola dal 19 al 23 settembre, per poi partire alla
volta degli Stati Uniti, un viaggio che si concluderà nella
città di Filadelfia in occasione dell’Incontro mondiale delle
famiglie, appuntamento da cui ha avuto origine l’idea di
questo viaggio. La Conferenza Episcopale Cubana, che
ha annunciato la visita apostolica del Pontefice, indica
le tappe relative all’isola caraibica: L’Avana, Holguin, il
Santuario della Madonna del Cobre e infine Santiago
di Cuba. A Santiago è l'appuntamento importante del
Pontefice con i vescovi cubani e celebrazione della
messa nel Santuario della Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre.
"Ho ringraziato il Santo Padre per il suo contributo al
riavvicinamento tra Cuba e gli Stati Uniti" ha voluto
sottolineare Raúl Castro in occasione dell’incontro
privato avuto con il Pontefice lo scorso maggio, ed è in
quest’ottica di normalizzazione dei rapporti politici ed
economici tra gli USA e Cuba – risale al 17 dicembre
2014 lo storico incontro tra Raúl Castro, fratello del ex
leader Fidel, e il Presidente USA Barak Obama – che il
Vaticano ha voluto pianificare questa tappa. Ma Francesco è a Cuba anche per sostenere la Chiesa locale e portare il suo messaggio pastorale alla comunità cattolica.

The Pope’s apostolic visit: the People’s Pope crosses the Ocean
to bring his message of peace in the Island of the Revolution
I
t was 1998 when Pope John Paul II set foot in Cuba, the first pastoral
visit in the island’s history. During that occasion Blue Panorama and
Distal were part of the organisation of the trip and for that occasion a book by Distal was also published to commemorate the historic
visit: Cuba, te amo, written by Alberto Michelini (Ares Editions) To
follow him was Pope Benedict XVI whom visited in 2012. Today it
is the turn of Pope Francis, who continues the process of evangelisation
and consolidation of diplomatic relations between the Holy Place and
Cuba. The Pope will be on the Island from September 19 to 23, to then
leave for the United States, a trip that will be concluded in the city of
Philadelphia for the occasion of the World Meeting of families, an
appointment which gave rise to the idea of this trip. The Cuban Episcopal Conference, whom announced the apostolic visit of the Pope, gives

the destinations to be visited around the Caribbean island: Havana,
Holguin, the Shrine of Our Lady of Cobre and then Santiago de Cuba.
In Santiago an important meeting of the Pope with Cuban bishops and
a celebration of the Mass at the Shrine of the Virgen de la Caridad

er il regista romano Hollywood è più di una promessa,
è quasi un destino. Non è un caso che la sua avventura
negli States inizi con il remake de L'ultimo bacio, il
film che gli ha dato la celebrità in patria. E dev'essere
qualcosa davvero di molto profondo questo legame se il
regista romano non riesce a star troppo lontano dai set
oltreoceano. A ottobre, dopo tre anni di silenzio, uscirà
infatti il suo quarto lavoro americano, quel Fathers and
Daughters del quale si parla già molto e non solo per il cast
stellare che sciorina nomi del calbro di Russell Crowe,
Amanda Seyfried, Jane Fonda, Diane Kruger, Octavia
Spencer, Aaron Paul, Quvenzhane Wallis e la piccola ma
bravissima Kylie Rogers. «Questo film mi ha ridato la
vita», confessa Gabriele Muccino, che aggiunge: «Giro in
totale indipendenza, con attori straordinari, una storia
bellissima. È bello riscoprire la passione, trovarsi in un
film in cui ti senti te stesso». Questa della passione, del
lavoro ben fatto, è un chiodo fisso per Gabriele Muccino
che all’ultima Mostra di Venezia non ha esitato a puntare
il dito su quelli che, secondo lui, sono i mali che hanno
afflitto il Cinema italiano e che ancora fanno sentire i
loro effetti. «Tra la fine degli anni ’70 e i primi del 2000
il morettismo ha rovinato l’estetica del cinema italiano. Si
facevano solo film girati e fotografati male», afferma. E aggiunge: «Gli
ultimi grandi narratori sono stati Leone, Bertolucci, Petri e Germi. Poi
sono arrivati autori che rispetto e considero pionieri di una nuova forma
di racconto, Virzì, Sorrentino, Garrone e pochi altri. Ma pian piano, se
si inizierà a guardare di più all’estero, a vedere film in lingua originale
per capire come gli altri registi dirigono e come gli attori recitano, la
competitività aumenterà anche in Italia». Su La grande bellezza ha solo
parole d'elogio appena venate da accenti polemici: «Il successo de La
grande bellezza dovrebbe dar fiducia, invece il nostro è un paese rancoroso. Ho letto cose inesatte, segnali di ignoranza e arroganza. Per noi
è stato importante vincere l’Oscar ma per definizione siamo autolesionisti. È un peccato che La grande bellezza non sia tornato in sala, il grande
pubblico l’ha visto in tv ma non è un film da vedere mentre lavi i piatti o
rispondi al telefono. È cinema puro». Un Muccino senza mezzi termini
e senza peli sulla lingua.

Gabriele Muccino began his career on set during his university
years with Pupi Avati and Marco Risi. His debut, after director courses at the Experimental Center of Cinematography,
came in 1998 with Ecco Fatto which gives him the ANEC
plaque for best director debut of the year. The following year
he arrives at the Venice Film Festival with But Forever
in My Mind. His consecration came in 2001 with The Last
Kiss and the following year with Remember Me, My Love.
In 2006 Muccino starts the new deal in the US, directing Will
Smith in The Pursuit of Happiness and two years later
Seven Pounds. With the aura acquired in Hollywood, Gabriele Muccino returns to Italy to film Kiss Me Again, the
following to The Last Kiss, but evidently America is his
promised land because in 2012 he releases his third but unlucky
film with stars and stripes, Playing for Keeps. This year will
be the turn of Fathers and Daughters which is to be released
in October.

the United States began with the remake of The Last Kiss, the
film that made him famous in his home land. It must be a really
strong bond if the Roman director cannot keep too far away from
the oversea’s sets. In October, after three years of silence, his fourth
American piece will be released, Fathers and Daughters, which
is already talked about and not only for the star cast which reels
off names such as Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Jane Fonda,
Diane Kruger, Octavia Spencer, Aaron Paul, Quvenzhane Wallis
and the young but talented Kylie Rogers. «This film gave me back
my life», confesses Gabriele Muccino, adding: «I direct with total
independence, with amazing actors and a beautiful story. It's great
to rediscover passion, finding yourself in a movie where you feel
your self». Passion and a job well done are an obsession for Gabriele
Muccino, who at the last Mostra di Venezia did not hesitate to
point the finger at those who, according to him, are the bad aspects
that have plagued Italian Cinema and still today take their toll.
«Between the late 70s and the early 2000, morettismo (Related to
Nanni Moretti) ruined the aesthetic of Italian cinema. There were
only badly shot and photographed films», he affirms. He adds: «The
last great storytellers were Leone, Bertolucci, Petri and Germi. Then
came authors whom I respect and consider pioneers of a new form of
narrative, Virzì, Sorrentino, Garrone and a few others. But slowly
slowly, if we start to look more abroad, watching movies in original
language to understand how other directors direct and actors act, we
will also increase competitiveness in Italy». On The Great Beauty
he has only words of praise only just tinged with polemical accents:
«The success of The Great Beauty should give confidence, but ours
is a bitter country. I read wrong statements, signs of ignorance and
arrogance. For us it was important to win the Oscar, but by definition we are self-defeating. It is a pity that The Great Beauty did
not return to the cinema, the general public has seen it on TV but it is
not a movie to watch whilst washing dishes or answering the phone.

Ellen DeGenres was born on the 26th of
January 1958 in Metairie, in the state of
Louisiana. After graduating she does a
lot of different jobs until arriving at the
theatre, where she mostly acts in comedy

and Jimmy Carson opened the doors for
her to the Tonight Show. The general
public, however, join him in 1994 with
the sitcom Ellen, of which she is the protagonist. After ending her experience of
acting, she goes back to TV in 2003 with
the talk show The Ellen DeGenres

the sentimental point of view she was
first linked to the actress Anne Heche

Nonostante si mostri spietato di fronte ai suoi
ospiti famosi, una delle qualità riconosciute a Letterman è quella di affrontare il suo pubblico – la
gente comune – con una sincerità disarmante. Sono
stati due, in particolare, i momenti in cui essa si è
mostrata in maniera chiara ed evidente. Il primo
episodio lo ha visto confessare di fronte a milioni
di telespettatori il tradimento della moglie, così
da vanificare le minacce del suo ricattatore; il secondo, invece, ha riguardato il suo rientro al Late
Show all’indomani degli attentati dell’11 settembre.
Letterman si è seduto alla sua scrivania e ha parlato
a cuore aperto della forza d’animo dei suoi connazionali, della loro generosità e ha concluso con una
frase, che è rimasta nella storia: «Se ci fosse qualcuno non ancora convinto, oggi possiamo dire che
New York è la città più grande al mondo».

disco, un film, o semplicemente se stessi, non può di
certo essere un caso. Perché andare da Letterman in
alcuni casi poteva rivelarsi un vero e proprio gioco al
massacro, a causa delle sue battute pungenti e della
tendenza a mettere sempre in difficoltà l’interlocutore,
ma in altri – quelli nei quali era chiaro il valore di chi
aveva di fronte – riusciva a instaurare con i suoi ospiti
un rapporto speciale, empatico e complice, e dar vita a
sketch comici memorabili, che sono entrati a far parte
della storia della tv americana. Sarà per questo che lo
scorso 20 maggio, nella puntata in cui ha dato l’addio
definitivo alle scene, sono stati davvero in tanti a volerlo
omaggiare, a partire dagli ex Presidenti Clinton e Bush
e dall’attuale Obama, che lo hanno fatto proprio alla
maniera di Dave: «Il nostro lungo incubo nazionale è
finito. Letterman va in pensione». E poi gli amici di
sempre - da Tina Fey a Bill Murray, fino a Jim Carrey
e Alec Baldwin - che hanno stravolto la consueta top
ten dei fatti di attualità più divertenti (e mai accaduti),
elencando tutto ciò che avrebbero sempre voluto dire
al conduttore. La puntata si è conclusa sulle note di
Everlong dei Foo Fighters - canzone con la quale nel
2000 la band lo aveva accolto al suo rientro in tv dopo
un delicato intervento al cuore – e con l’ultimo breve,
ma autentico, saluto di Letterman ai suoi telespettatori:
«Grazie e buonanotte». Oggi, a distanza di pochi mesi
dal lungo e celebrato addio, sta per ricominciare la
prima stagione televisiva senza di lui. The show must go
on, certo. Ma siamo sicuri che lo spettacolo, nella notte
di New York, non sarà più lo stesso.

Despite appearing ruthless in front of his
famous guests, one of the qualities of Letterman is facing his audience - the common people - with a disarming sincerity.
In particular there were two moments
where this was clear and evident. The
first saw him confess in front of millions
of viewers the betrayal of his wife, so
as to stop the threats of his blackmailer.
The second, involved his return to the
Late Show in the aftermath of the
September 11 attacks. Letterman sat
at his desk and spoke openheartedly
of the strenght of his countrymen,
their generosity and concluded with
a sentence, which remained in history: «If you didn’t believe it

n the early eighties its name was Late Night and it was transmitted
late at night on NBC. Then came betrayal: Johnny Carson retires
and he was not chosen as the successor of the historic Tonight Show,
the leaders of the New York network preferred Jay Leno. So from here
starts the television adventure called Late Show with David Letterman, a different name and a different channel (the presenter passes to
CBS) but not a different spirit which remains the one of his early career
and that will remain the same, always true to himself. Letterman has a
unique and unmistakable style: a rare combination of Midwest conformism
and irreverent humor like an old school comedian, like his legend Carson
of which he failed to be the heir. If in these 22 years all the most important
figures in show business (and more) have decided to sit in the grey chair
of the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan to promote an album, a film,
or simply themselves, it is not just a case. Because to go on the Letterman
show in some cases could be a real game, because of his sharp lines and the
tendency to always put the interviewee in trouble, but in others - those
where it was obvious of their value - he could establish with his guests

a special relationship, empathic and accomplice and create memorable
comedy sketches, which have become part of the history of American television. This may be why on the 20th of May just gone, during the episode in
which he gave the final farewell to the scenes, there were really too many
people wanting to pay homage, starting from the former Presidents Clinton
and Bush and the current Obama, and they did it in the same manner as
Dave: «Our long national nightmare is over. Letterman is retiring». Plus
old friends – from Tina Fey to Bill Murray, Jim Carrey to Alec Baldwin who upset the usual top ten of fun current events (which never happened),
listing everything they always wanted to say to the presenter. The show
ends on the song Everlong by the Foo Fighters – the song with which the
band had greeted him on his return to television after a delicate heart
operation in 2000 - and with the last short, but authentic, greeting from
Letterman to viewers: «Thank you and good night». Today, a few months
after the long and celebrated farewell, the first television season is about to
start without him. The show must go on, of course. But we are sure that the
show, in New York by night, will never be the same.

in molti a Postdammer Platz la notte del 9 novembre
1989, mentre il muro di Berlino veniva fatto a pezzi.
D’altra parte appena quattro mesi prima – ironizzando sulla
possibilità di un nuovo live dell’album The Wall – il leader
dei Pink Floyd promise di rifarlo solo nel caso in cui proprio
quel muro fosse caduto. Un’eventualità inimmaginabile, che
per Roger Waters si trasformò ben presto in un impegno
da onorare. Così Another brick in the wall, emblema di
un’opera che ha cambiato per sempre la storia del rock,
riunì a Postdammer Platz 450mila persone, per diventare il
simbolo universale del coraggio e della libertà. E per tornare
in scena quest’autunno con le immagini del tour che ha
riproposto la mitica collezione in tutto il mondo. Ventisei
canzoni che avvicendano lutti, guerre, divorzi e alienazione,
a colonna sonora di una pellicola-documentario sulla vicenda

musicale del bassista inglese, ma non solo. Girato in altissima
definizione e già osannato al Toronto International Film Festival,
The Wall veicola un messaggio pacifista senza precedenti.
Atteso nelle sale di tutto il mondo per la sera del 29 settembre
prossimo, nei cinema italiani sarà proiettato per tre giorni di
fila, fino al 1 ottobre. Quando nel 1979 Waters presentò la sua
demo al gruppo, i blocchi che lo tormentavano erano quelli dei
condizionamenti, del dolore, della solitudine. Novanta minuti
autobiografici di rabbia e preghiera. La storia cantata di un
artista dall’infanzia drammatica, ipersensibile fino alla follia,

worldwide. Twenty-six songs that alternate mourning, war, divorce
and alienation, all a soundtrack of a documentary-film about the
musical history of the English bassist, but not only. Shot in high definition and already acclaimed at the Toronto International Film

oda alta, eyeliner e unghie colorate. È così che Valentina si
presenta sul campo, con la genuinità dei suoi 22 anni. Eppure
nei suoi occhi arde un fuoco, quello di chi ha cominciato presto
a lottare per realizzare il proprio sogno, e se diamo uno sguardo al
suo passato non possiamo che averne conferma.
La passione della Diouf per la pallavolo emerge già da piccolissima: a soli sei anni si riunisce tutti i pomeriggi con le sue amiche
di Settimo Milanese per giocare e guardare in tv il suo idolo,
Mila. Sembrerà paradossale, ma per molte ragazze cresciute
negli anni Novanta il modello da seguire era proprio lei, la dolce
schiacciatrice dai capelli rossi, protagonista del cartone animato
giapponese Mila & Shiro. Poi il divorzio dei suoi genitori e la decisione, ad appena 14 anni, di lasciare la periferia milanese per trasferirsi nella Capitale dove entra a far parte del Club Italia, vivaio
dei migliori talenti nazionali. È qui che nasce il suo soprannome,
Fiocco di Neve, ad indicare la lentezza con la quale lei, schiacciatrice
pura, si adagia al suolo per difendersi da un attacco avversario. Una
carriera in ascesa, potrebbero pensare in tanti, ma le difficoltà non
sono mancate. I suoi 2,02 metri di altezza, innanzitutto. «Mi dicevano che ero solo alta, ma alla fine basta aspettare». E Valentina ha
aspettato tanto, ma alla fine il riconoscimento del suo talento - al

di là dell’incredibile statura - è arrivato: nel 2013 riceve la convocazione nella Nazionale maggiore e nel 2014 partecipa al suo

anche le continue giustificazioni. Perché vedere una ragazza dalla
pelle scura indossare la maglia azzurra, ha suscitato non poche
domande: «Io non sono naturalizzata. Io sono italiana. Sono nata a
Milano da un padre senegalese che oggi vive negli Stati Uniti e da
una mamma milanese».
Valentina è giovane e talentuosa e, anche in vista delle Olimpiadi
di Rio 2016, ci auguriamo possa regalarci tante soddisfazioni
sportive. Che diventi il simbolo di una nuova Italia, invece, non c’è
bisogno che ce lo auguriamo: lo è già.

Diouf's passion for volleyball already shows from an early age: at just six years old she meets
every afternoon with her friends in Settimo Milanese to play and watch her idol, Mila, on TV.
It may seem paradoxical, but for many girls
grown up in the nineties she was a role
model, the sweet, redheaded spiker main
character of the Japanese cartoon Mila
& Shiro. Then her parents divorce and
she decides, at just 14 years old, to leave
the outskirts of Milan and move to
the capital where she joined the Club
Italia, home of the best national
talents. It was here that she gained
her nickname, Snowflake, standing for the slowness with which she throws herself to the ground to defend against an
attack. A career on the rise, many might think, but not without the lack of difficulties.
Her 2.02 meters, first of all. «They said I was just tall, but in the end all you have to
do is wait». Valentina waited so long, but finally recognition for her talents - beyond
her incredible stature – came in 2013, when she is called for the national team and
in 2014 she took part in her first World Cup. From here great popularity, television
interviews, but also the constant excuses. Because seeing a dark-skinned girl wearing
the blue shirt raised many questions: «I'm not naturalised. I'm italian. I was born
in Milan to a Senegalese father who now lives in the US and a Milanese mother».
Valentina is young and talented, and in view of the 2016 Olympics in Rio, we
hope she will give us many sporting satisfactions. May she become the symbol of a
new Italy. However, there is no need that we wish, because she already is.

a spiaggia di Red Wharf Bay, due fratelli e un sogno. Era il 1947 e
l’ingegnere Maurice Wilks mostrò al fratello Spencer il prototipo
di un veicolo che era il perfetto compromesso tra un trattore
leggero e un fuoristrada, ma lo fece in modo inconsueto: lo disegnò
sulla sabbia. È questa la storia della nascita del Land Rover Defender, leggendario modello della casa automobilistica britannica.
Lo scorso gennaio, a distanza di 68 anni da quel progetto ambizioso, i figli dei fratelli Wilks sono ritornati su quella stessa spiaggia,
nell’isola di Anglesey in Galles, per vedere raffigurato il Defender
un’ultima volta. I sei modelli più iconici del fuoristrada, grazie al
supporto di un erpice, hanno tracciato sulla sabbia un profilo della
vettura lungo ben 4,52 chilometri, dando vita così alla più imponente opera di sand art mai realizzata in Gran Bretagna. Un ritorno
alle origini, ma soprattutto un modo per celebrare un pezzo di storia a pochi mesi dalla fine della sua produzione. A dicembre, infatti,

la vettura uscirà definitivamente dai listini della Rover. Un addio
sofferto, ma necessario a causa di normative sempre più rigide in
materia di inquinamento ambientale. La casa automobilistica inglese ha deciso quindi di dedicare l’intero 2015 al mito del Defender
organizzando, oltre all’evento sulla spiaggia, l’uscita sul mercato di
tre fuoristrada celebrativi in edizione limitata: Heritage, Adventure
e Autobiography. Così le descrive Nick Rogers, Responsabile di
produzione: «Intendevamo chiudere la realizzazione del Defender
nella fabbrica di Solihull con qualcosa di memorabile, ma riuscire
a creare una versione sola che fosse la sintesi di tutta la storia si è
rivelato impossibile. Così abbiamo allestito tre interpretazioni che
ne riflettono la forza, la versatilità e il carattere». Il giusto tributo
per un veicolo che ha scritto un pagina immortale nella storia delle
quattro ruote. Immortale il Defender, nonostante il suo profilo sia
stato disegnato sulla sabbia e la marea se lo sia portato via.

ed Wharf Bay beach, two brothers and a dream. It was 1947
and the engineer Maurice Wilks showed his brother Spencer
the prototype of a vehicle that was the perfect compromise
between a tractor and a lightweight off-road, but he did it in an
unusual way: he drew it on the sand. This is the story behind the
birth of the Land Rover Defender, the legendary model by the
British carmaker. Last January, 68 years after that ambitious project, the sons of the Wilks brothers returned to that same beach, on
the island of Anglesey in Wales, to see the Defender represented one
last time. The six most iconic models of the off-road, with thanks
to the support of a harrow, drew in the sand the profile of the
car along 4.52 km, thereby creating the most impressive work of
sand art ever made in Britain. A return to origins, but also a way
to celebrate a piece of history a few months before the end of its
production. In December, in fact, the car will be off, for definate,
from the lists of Rover. A felt farewell, but necessary because of
increasingly strict regulations regarding environmental pollution.
The English carmaker has thus decided to dedicate the entire 2015
to the legend of the Defender, organizing, in addition to the event
on the beach, the release on the market of three commemorative
limited edition SUVs: Heritage, Adventure and Autobiography.
Nick Rogers, the production manager, describes it as such: «We
wanted to end the production of the Defender in the Solihull
factory with something memorable, but creating a single version
that was a summary of the whole history proved impossible. So
we set up three interpretations that reflect strength, versatility
and character». A fitting tribute to a vehicle that has written an
immortal page in the history of the four wheels. The immortal
Defender, despite its profile being drawn in the sand that the tide
has taken away.

abitanti dei Sassi celebravano così i
frutti della terra, accompagnando la
zuppa con canti, balli e fiaschi di vino
Primitivo. Un rito ancora omaggiato nel
borgo La Martella.

Matera, o sali o scendi si usa dire tra gli abitanti. E
basta un'occhiata dal Belvedere, il punto migliore
per contemplare i Sassi, per scoprire quanto la frase
calzi a pennello all'antica città, con il suo reticolo di
viuzze che si diramano tra le case-grotta per insinuarsi
nelle cantine dalle pareti in roccia di tufo. Ma chi
conosce davvero Matera sa che il succedersi di alti e
bassi non descrive solo i suoi rioni. Dal punto di vista
del territorio, richiama anche tutta la suggestione
della sua collocazione geografica, tra le masserie
dell'altopiano della Murgia e la selvatica profondità
scavata dal Canyon della Gravina. E ancora di più
si addice alla sua storia, che ha conosciuto lontani
splendori, l'ha vista città regia e capoluogo, per poi
scivolare in un sordo degrado, fino a toccare il fondo
dell'abbandono. Infine, Matera ha risalito la via degli
allori, conquistando per il 2019 l'ambito titolo di
Capitale europea della cultura.
Chi la incontra per la prima volta, entra a Matera
in punta di piedi, quasi che l'incanto che sembra
avvolgerla dovesse dissolversi da un momento
all'altro. È il modo giusto per visitarla, con scarpe
comode a suola bassa, pronti ad addentrarsi tra
i suoi vicoli, alla scoperta degli angoli nascosti:
conoscerete così una città che appare sospesa in un
magico passato, tra gli echi ancestrali della Preistoria
e la sacralità della civiltà rupestre. Un'atmosfera
che si estende alle terre che circondano la Città dei
Sassi, gravide di luoghi inaspettati coperti da olivi e
lampascioni. Come la Grotta dei Pipistrelli, in cui si narra
che il re Barbarossa rinchiuse la figlia con un immenso
tesoro. Oppure la Cripta del Peccato Originale, tornata
alla luce solo negli anni Sessanta e custode di numerosi
affreschi, dipinti sulla pietra da un artista sconosciuto.
Ma potreste anche restare stupiti nell'imbattervi in un
suo volto decisamente più contemporaneo: è il caso del
poco noto Parco Scultura della Palomba, una grande
opera antropologica che il maestro Antonio Paradiso
ha creato in una cava del Paleolitico. Le sue opere in
cemento e metallo carbonizzato, proveniente dal Ground
Zero di New York, sono un magnifico esempio di arte
semi-astratta, perfettamente in armonia con il contesto
naturale.
Quando i vostri piedi saranno sazi di itinerari e avrete
placato la fame dell'intelletto, ricordate che la cultura è
anche folklore: abbandonate le gambe sotto una tavola
ed esplorate le prelibatezze della cucina tradizionale. Un
buon piatto di Cialledda è la prima tappa consigliata.

n Matera you either go up or down they say among the people. All
you need is to take a view from the Belvedere, the best spot to look
at the stones, to work out that this phrase fits the ancient city like a
glove, with its grid of streets that branch off between the cave-houses
and the cellar walls in tuff rock. But those who really know Matera
know that the succession of ups and downs does not refer only to the
streets. From the point of view of the territory it refers to the charm
of its geographical location, between the farms of the Murgia and
the wild deep carved canyon of the Gravina. The description is even
more suited to its history, which has experienced distant splendors, it
was once a royal city and capital, and then slipped into decay, until

it touched rock bottom of abandonment. Finally, Matera has climbed
back up, in 2019 winning the coveted title of European Capital of
Culture. Who visits here for the first time, enters Matera on tiptoe, as
if the magic that wraps it were to dissapear at any moment. The right
way to visit Matera is with comfortable low soled shoes, ready to
penetrate through its narrow streets, discovering hidden corners: you
will see a city that appears to be suspended in a magical past, among
the ancestral echoes of Prehistory and the sacredness of rock civilisation. An atmosphere that extends to the lands surrounding the City of
Rocks, full of unexpected places covered by olive trees and wild onions.
Like the Bat Cave, where it is said that King Barbarossa locked in

his daughter with a huge treasure. Or the Crypt of Original Sin, which came
to light only in the sixties, a guardian of numerous frescoes painted on stone
by an unknown artist. You may also be surprised when you come across more
contemporary pieces: like in the case of the little-known Sculpture Park of Palomba, a great anthropological work that the master Antonio Paradiso created
in a Palaeolithic quarry. His works made of concrete and charred metal, from
Ground Zero in New York, are a magnificent example of semi-abstract art, in
perfect harmony with the natural environment. When your feet are satisfied of
itineraries and you fullfilled your hunger for intellect, remember that culture is
also folklore: relax at the table and explore the delights of the traditional cuisine.
A good plate of Cialledda is the first recommended dish.
Besides the Ciallèdd, a peasant dish made
with stale bread, eggs, potatoes and herbs
from the Murgia, Matera is famous for its
Crapiata. Created to celebrate the end of
harvest, the Crapiata is a soup of vegetables
and cereals, on the 1st of August of each year
it was boiled in a large copper pan. The inhabitants of the Stones celebrated this way
the givings from the earth, accompanying
the soup with songs, dances and bottles of
Primitivo wine. A rite which is still honored in the borgo of La Martella.

lzi la mano chi adora la cioccolata. Quella densa, vellutata,
magari impreziosita da un aroma alla cannella. Cioccolate
così fanno bene allo spirito, ma ancora di più se assaporate
nel calore di tonalità sgargianti, cullati dall'abbraccio di un clima
primaverile. È l'atmosfera che si respira a Oaxaca, capoluogo
dell'omonima regione messicana, affacciata sul golfo di Tehuantepec. Tra le molte arti care alla città, quella del cioccolato è una
golosa occasione per affacciarsi alla cultura locale. Ecco perché in
una città come Oaxaca si dovrebbe partire proprio da qui: dall'immersione nei suoi sapori e nei sorrisi della sua gente. Prima ancora
della Cattedrale o della Basilica di Soledad, prima della spiaggia di
Puerto Escondido e del sito archeologico del Monte Alban, Oaxaca va conosciuta per le strade, affiancate da case in tinte pastello;
per le albe indaco accese di rosa che la avvolgono al mattino.
Oppure, ancora, per i suoi murales, ponti sospesi su una tradizione ancora viva nell'immaginario. Va conosciuta per quello che

Novembre è la vostra meta: tortillas, guacamole, fresche granite
nieves e immancabili mezcal, fino a un corridoio dedicato alla carne
alla brace. Un vero saggio della cucina oaxaquena che, per i più
coraggiosi, comprende le tipiche chapulines, cavallette marinate
in aglio o peperoncino. In Messico, si sa, anche la siesta vuole la
sua parte: passeggiando per Calle Flores Magon potrete scegliere
tra bellissime amacas. Vi sembrerà di addormentarvi sospesi su un
arcobaleno.

visiting the Cathedral or the Basilica of Soledad, before the beach
in Puerto Escondido and the archaeological site of Monte Alban,

it exhibits authentic works of crafts ranging from beautiful fabrics
embroidered with floral patterns to the different ceramics from
ancient traditional pottery, right through to the characteristic
alebrijes, colorful and fantastical animals with the most bizarre
shapes. On weekends, don’t miss out on visiting Ave de la Independencia, one of the central streets where festivals and joyous events
of the city are hosted. If you prefer to savor the delights of the local
cuisine the Mercato 20 de Novembre is your destination: tortillas,
guacamole, fresh Nieves slushes and unmissable mezcal, all the
way up to a corridor devoted to grilled meat. A real show of the
Oaxaca cuisine that, for the brave, includes the typical chapulines, grasshoppers marinated in garlic or chili. In Mexico, as is
known, even the siesta has an important part: walking through
Calle Flores Magon you can choose from many beautiful amacas.

hi conosce Leonard Cohen probabilmente avrà inarcato
stupito le sopracciglia: voce di rasoio? Ma come? Proprio
lui, il cantore delle emozioni più profonde, il narratore
degli amori perduti e mai ritrovati, il compagno dei viaggi
senza meta e senza ritorno “voce di rasoio”? Eppure è così
che la critica americana si accorge finalmente di lui: l'anno
è il 1988, l'album è I'm Your Man, e il rasoio non è nella voce
ma in quella rara combinazione di versi e accordi struggenti
capaci di tagliare a fette pezzi di cuore. Per Cohen è solo
una tardiva consacrazione tributatagli da un mercato più
attento al dio denaro che alle muse dell'arte: in Europa
è già una leggenda. Tra coloro che considerano Leonard
un mentore ispiratore ci sono nomi altisonanti: Morrissey degli Smiths, Nick Cave e Fabrizio de Andrè, solo per
citarne alcuni. Lars von Trier inserisce la struggente Suzanne
nella splendida colonna sonora de Le onde del destino, dove
si trovano anche A Whiter Shade of Pale dei Procol Harum,
Child in Time dei Deep Purple e Life on Mars di David Bowie.

E le collaborazioni si sprecano. Una di queste è con la voce

una presenza costante nei lavori di Cohen, ma nel 1987
fa qualcosa di diverso, gli dedica un intero album: Famous
Blue Raincoat, un'interpretazione magistrale delle più belle
ballate di Cohen. I brani scelti sono di un blues profondo,
che ferisce come un colpo di frusta. La voce della Warnes fa
il resto. Blu nelle note, blu nell'animo, blu nella copertina.
E la title track dà ragione a chi per Leonard ha evocato una
luccicante lama di rasoio, perché in Famous Blue Raincoat la
voce limpida e cristallina di Jennifer racconta l'atmosfera
fredda e disperata di un'amicizia tradita e miseramente

hose who know Leonard Cohen will have probably doubted: sharp voice? What?
Him, the singer of deepest emotions, the narrator of forever lost love, the companion of
travel without destination nor return “sharp voice”? Yet this is how American critics
finally find him: the year is 1988, the album is I'm Your Man, and the sharpness is not
in his voice but in the rare combination of poignant verses and chords capable of cutting
to sliced pieces of heart. For Cohen it is only a late recognition given to him by a market
closer to money than the muses of art: in Europe he is already a legend. Among those
who considered Leonard to be an inspiring mentor there are famous names: Morrissey of
the Smiths, Nick Cave and Fabrizio de Andrè, to name a few. Lars von Trier adds the
poignant Suzanne in the beautiful soundtrack of Breaking the Waves, where there
are also A Whiter Shade of Pale by the Procol Harum, Child in Time by Deep Purple
and Life on Mars by David Bowie. The collaborations are many. One of these is with
the wonderful voice of Jennifer Warnes. Jennifer has always been a constant in the work
of Cohen, but in 1987 he does something more, devoting to her an entire album: Famous
Blue Raincoat, a masterful interpretation of Cohen’s most beautiful ballads. The songs
chosen are of such deep blues that it penetrates profoundly. The voice of Warnes does the
rest. Blue notes, blue soul, blue cover. The title track agrees with those for who Leonard has
evoked a gleaming razor blade, because in Famous Blue Raincoat the crystal clear voice of
Jennifer tells of the cold and desperate atmosphere about betrayed friendship with a miserable ending: "And what can I tell you my brother, my killer / what can I possibly say? / I
guess That I miss you, I guess I forgive you / I'm glad you stood in my way " .

Una ricetta che affonda le sue radici
nella tradizione lucana

icetta tipica della zona di Matera e molto diffusa anche nel potentino,
la rafanata è un piatto della più antica tradizione contadina lucana.
Ingrediente principale e cifra distintiva della ricetta è il rafano, ritzoma
della pianta Armoracia rusticana, che si distingue per il suo gusto piccante.
Pietanza contadina dal sapore antico e dal carattere vivace, è una frittata di
rafano cotta al forno: uova sbattute, rafano fresco grattugiato e abbondante
pecorino - in alcune zone si sostituisce il pecorino con il Canestrato di
Moliterno, un formaggio prodotto nella zona di Potenza con latte ovino e
caprino, oggi considerato un cacio pregiato e tutelato dal marchio IGP, ma
un tempo immancabile anche nelle case più umili. Alcune ricette prevedono
l’aggiunta di patate lesse schiacciate e mollica di pane sbriciolata. Le patate
conferiscono maggiore corposità al pasticcio, mentre la mollica lo rende
più soffice e aiuta l’impasto a crescere. Alcune varianti locali della ricetta
includono anche salumi, come la soppressata o il salame pezzente, oppure la
salsiccia. Rigorosamente tutti gli ingredienti usati appartengono alla cucina
povera. Tradizionalmente la frittata lucana era cotta in un tegame, di rame o
di coccio, unto di strutto e posto a fianco al fuoco; oggi il forno ha sostituito
il braciere. Il composto viene quindi messo all’interno di una teglia cosparsa
di grasso di maiale e infornata a 200°C per circa mezz’ora.
A Matera, e così anche a Potenza, la frittata contadina si trova su tutte le
tavole lucane dal giorno di Sant’Antonio Abate, il 17 gennaio, fino al martedì
di Carnevale. Ma molti amano prepararla tutto l’anno e mangiarla tra due
fette di pane: una prelibatezza da provare a tutti i costi.

Il tartufo dei poveri
Radice dal sapore piccante-amaro, il
rafano è volgarmente detto tartufo dei
poveri. Utilizzato in piccole dosi per insaporire sughi e pietanze, per l’utilizzo
la radice viene raschiata con il coltello,
lavata, asciugata e poi grattugiata. Da
evitare in caso di gravidanza, allattamento, ulcera e gastrite. Oltre a costituire un aroma tipico della cucina lucana, questa radice, di pianta perenne,
ma raccolta e utilizzata in cucina nel
periodo di febbraio, ha anche importanti proprietà curative.

Lucania. The main ingredient and distinctive feature of the
recipe is horseradish, ritzoma from the plant Armoracia rusticana,
which is distinguished for its spicy taste. A peasant dish with an
old flavor and lively character, it is an horseradish omelette baked
in the oven: beaten eggs, fresh grated horseradish and pecorino
cheese - in some areas the pecorino is replaced with the Canestrato
of Moliterno, a cheese produced in the area of Potenza with sheep
and goat’s milk, today considered to be a a valuable cacio cheese
and safeguarded by the IGP mark, but it was once inevitable
in the most humble homes. Some recipes include the addition of
mashed potatoes and breadcrumbs. Potatoes give more body to the
mixture, while the crumbs makes it smooth and helps the dough
to rise. Some local variations of the recipe also include dry meats,
such as soppressata or pezzente salami, or even sausage. Strictly all
ingredients used belong to humble cooking. Traditionally the omelet from Lucania was cooked in a skillet, made of copper or earthenware, greased with lard and placed beside the fire; today the
oven has replaced the fire. The mixture is now put inside a baking
tray greased with pork fat and cooked at 200 ° C for about half
an hour. In Matera, and so also in Potenza, the peasant omelette is
found on all the Lucania tables as from the day of Sant'Antonio
Abate, on the 17th of January, until the Tuesday of Carnival. But
many like to prepare it all year round and eat it between two slices
of bread: a delicacy to try at all costs.
The Poor Man’s truffle
A pungent and bitter root, the horseradish is
commonly called truffle of the poor. Used in
small quantities to flavor sauces and dishes,
the root is scraped with a knife, washed,
dried and then grated. To avoid if pregnant,
lactating, you have an ulcer or gastritis.
Apart from being the typical aroma of the
cuisine from Basilicata, this root from the
perennial plant, is collected and used in the
kitchen during February, it also has important healing properties.

n classico intramontabile, di quei capi che ogni
donna dovrebbe sempre avere nell'armadio. È
lui il protagonista della moda internazionale:
il tubino nero. Ha quasi 90 anni - che compirà
nel 2016 - eppure non li dimostra affatto. È la sua
semplicità, mai eccessivamente provocante, a farne
un vestito che non passerà mai di moda.
Nero, sobrio, castigato, il tubino inizialmente
era l'abito da indossare esclusivamente nei giorni
di lutto, mentre portato in altre occasioni era
ritenuto addirittura indecoroso. Poi, nel 1926, fu
la rivoluzione della lungimirante Coco Chanel a
sdoganarlo, portandolo sulla copertina di Vogue
America e dando inizio ad una storia che non
avrebbe più conosciuto tramonto. Una storia
che ha attraversato la rigidità della Grande
Depressione, trovando forma su donne come la
Duchessa di Windsor e la cantante Edith Piaf. Fino
a conquistare il mondo del cinema, indosso ad

Dior a Giorgio Armani, ne hanno disegnati dei
più svariati. Stelle del cinema e della moda, come

Adriana Lima li hanno sfoggiati sui tappeti rossi più
prestigiosi. E negli ultimi anni il tubino ha fatto il

dress. It is nearly 90 years old - celebrating in 2016 - and yet it does
not show at all. It is simplicity, never overly provocative, to make of it
a dress that will never go out of style. Black, sober, chastened, the sheath
dress was originally worn only during days of mourning, while on other
occasions it was considered unseemly. Then, in 1926, it was the revolution of the visionary Coco Chanel to make it come to life, publishing it
on the cover of Vogue America and starting a journey that would not
have ended. A journey that has crossed the rigidity of the Great Depression, finding the shape of women such as the Duchess of Windsor and the
singer Edith Piaf. All the way to conquering the world of cinema, worn
by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. It was 1961 and that
sheath dress - sold at auction in 2006 for 467 thousand pounds - was by
Givenchy. The years famous for protests and feminist movements risked
overshadowing the elegant little black dress, but it was only a matter of
time. Since the 80s, out on the street, at work and on the red carpet, the

Sono ottanta le opere provenienti da musei
internazionali, tra i quali la Tate Gallery di
Londra, il Petit Palais e il Museo d’Orsay di
Parigi esposte nella prima mostra in Italia
dedicata a James Tissot. L’artista francese
è noto per aver concentrato la sua opera
principalmente su due grandi tematiche:
la mondanità parigina e il fascino femminile. I suoi lavori più famosi ritraggono
raffinate donne elegantemente abbigliate
e scene che rimandano al grandioso stile di vita dell’aristocrazia parigina. Stile di vita che l’artista fu costretto ad
abbandonare quando, accusato di essere comunista, dovette trasferirsi a Londra, dove si dedicò ad acqueforti, alla
ritrattistica e a soggetti caricaturali. La mostra allestita a
Roma, organizzata al Chiostro del Bramante dall’Arthemisia Group, ripercorre l’intero percorso artistico del pittore:
l’influenza dell’ambiente parigino e della realtà londinese,
la vena sentimentale e mistica, l’incredibile talento di colorista e l’interesse per la moda.
There are eighty works, all from international museums including the Tate Gallery
in London, the Petit Palais and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, on show for the first
exhibition in Italy dedicated to James Tissot. The French artist is known for having
concentrated his work mainly on two major
themes: Parisian high society and feminine
charm. His most famous works portray refined women elegantly dressed and scenes
that recall the grand lifestyle of Parisian aristocracy. A
lifestyle that the artist was forced to leave when accused
of being a communist and forced to move to London, where
he devoted himself to etchings, portraiture and caricatures.
The exhibition on in Rome, organised at the Chiostro del
Bramante by the Arthemisia Group, retraces the entire
artistic career of the painter: the influences of the Paris
scene and the reality of London, his sentimental and mystical vein, his incredible talent as a colorist and his interest
in fashion.

JENNY HOLZER War Painting
La Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia promuove in collaborazione con la Written Art
Foundation di Francoforte, una mostra di
dipinti di Jenny Holzer, artista concettuale
americana nota per l’utilizzo di LED luminosi nelle sue opere. L’esposizione si basa su
documenti desecretati e altro materiale top
- secret del governo degli Stati Uniti riguardante la guerra globale al terrorismo seguita
all’11 settembre 2001, come pure le operazioni militari USA in Afghanistan e in Iraq. I lavori della Holzer
sono ricavati da appunti, mappe, comunicati, registrazioni di
interrogatori, referti di autopsie e scritti autografi dei detenuti, pesantemente censurati prima di essere resi pubblici. La
Holzer ha spiegato così la sua decisione di iniziare a dipingere
queste opere dieci anni fa, in un’intervista rilasciata a Stuart
Jeffries del Guardian: «Ho voluto metterci tempo e cura. Volevo che questo lavoro fosse un indicatore di sincerità e attenzione. Volevo che fosse umano».
The Civic Museum Foundation of Venice in collaboration with the Written Art
Foundation of Frankfurt promotes an exhibition of paintings by Jenny Holzer, an
American conceptual artist known for the use
of LED lights in her works. The exhibition
is based on declassified documents and other
top-secret material from the government of
the United States about the global war on
terrorism following September the 11th 2001,
as well as US military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The works from Holzer are based on notes, maps, press releases, recordings of interviews, reports of autopsies and autographs of prisoners, all heavily censored before being made
public. Holzer explained her decision to start painting these
works ten years ago in an interview with Stuart Jeffries of the
Guardian: «I wanted to put time and care in to it. I wanted
this project to be an indicator of sincerity and attention. I
wanted it to be human».

Nelle pagine di questo libro, scritto da una donna – probabilmente -, che narra di un’amicizia al femminile e
che riserva grande spazio all’essere mamma, c’è tanto
gentil sesso, ma non è una lettura per sole donne.
Un romanzo breve, il quinto della giornalista Daria Bignardi, Santa degli impossibili ha un titolo che incuriosisce e in
poche ore, 109 pagine, la curiosità è soddisfatta. Il titolo
del libro è dedicato a Santa Rita, un personaggio simbolico che rappresenta la forza delle donne, la potenza che
ognuna di loro può cercare e trovare dentro se stessa. Il libro ci vuole dire una cosa tanto semplice, quanto potente:
ogni ostacolo dell’esistenza, anche e soprattutto quelli che
incontriamo dentro noi stessi, può essere superato grazie
alla grande potenza della passione, una specie di capacità
che ognuna ha di fare di se stessa un miracolo. Perché dal
proprio destino, dalla propria vocazione non si può e non
si deve scappare. Le passioni, come il destino, prima o poi
riemergono e chiedono di essere ascoltati. Mila, la protagonista del libro, nonostante la sua apparente serenità familiare e lavorativa, è una donna inquieta, che, alle soglie
dei suoi quarantanni, si ritrova persa ma ritrova la sua forza
dentro sè stessa. Come Santa Rita, la santa degli impossibili. Due ore di lettura piacevoli a cui non dire di no.
Scarti è il primo romanzo tradotto in italiano dell’autore americano Jonathan Miles, il titolo originale del
libro è Want not, a portarlo in Italia è la Minimum Fax,
casa editrice sempre molto attenta alla letteratura contemporanea americana. Scarti è un romanzo corale,
non facile alla lettura - ma le cose belle, intense, quasi
mai sono facili, infondo -: la narrazione si dipana attraverso tre percorsi, tre filoni narrativi apparentemente
slegati i cui protagonisti sono personaggi ordinari, le
cui vite sono scarti, o sono invase, colme di scarti, materiali o metaforici. Ma di questo materiale di recupero, di questi pezzi che restano, i protagonisti, ognuno
a modo suo, ne fanno il loro carburante per ricominciare, per riprendere la propria esistenza. Nella prosa
di Miles non c’è denuncia sociale, ne critica al sistema,
ma una lucida narrazione del vivere che procede inesorabile così come deve procedere. Il romanzo è stato
apprezzato molto dalla critica americana: dal New York
Times così come Washington Post.
Ci sono argomenti che sono dominati da un pensiero
moralista che li congela impedendone ogni dissertazione
dialettica, di fatto, impoverendoli e castrando lo scambio
intellettuale sul tema. Tra questi argomenti trionfa, più ancora dello stesso sesso, il desiderio del sesso. Desiderio che
anima ogni essere umano, uomo e donna che sia, sebbene
in molti lo neghino. Saverio Mondadori nel suo romanzo
Gli amici che non ho mette al centro questo argomento e affronta la solitudine del desiderio. Il desiderio che porta al
tradimento, degli altri e di noi stessi, perché l’essere umano
è fatto di contraddizioni e la coerenza ed anche la fedeltà
meritano qualche riflessione nuova. Ciò che più affascina
della lettura di questo libro è proprio la riflessione, non necessariamente in chiave negativa, su quanto l’essere umano
sia solo proprio nel momento del desiderio. Come troviamo scritto tra le righe di questo romanzo, candidato al Premio Strega di quest’anno – prima candidatura per Codice
Edizioni- “come diventa struggente la volgarità quando
assume la figura dell’estrema sincerità”. Da leggere.
Fourth and final volume of the Amica geniale (The Brilliant
Friend) candidate for the Strega Prize 2015 for the E/O Editions,
which on occassion of prestigious literary prize has reissued all four
volumes. The two main characters are as always Lina and Elena,
whom in this last part we now find as adults: This concludes the
story of a friendship born after World War II in a district of Naples. The saga, composed by L'amica geniale, Storia del nuovo cognome, Storia di chi fugge e di chi resta (The Brilliant
Friend, History of the New Surname, History of Those who Flee
and of Those who Remain) this last book tells a whole life, or rather
two, with the voice of Elena retracing betrayals, weddings, loves,
motherhood , both hers and Lila’s. The narrator’s voice excited because in her words it is possible to undergo a deep transportation,
pure and very human, that is reserved for a lifetime friend. The
pages of this book, written by a woman, probably, tells of women’s
friendship and it reserves a large part to motherhood, there is a lot
of gentle sex, but it is not a literary read for just women.
A short novel, the fifth by the journalist Daria Bignardi, Santa
degli impossibili (Saint of the Impossible) has a title that intrigues and in a few hours, and 109 pages later, curiosity is satisfied. The title of the book is dedicated to Santa Rita, a symbolic
character whom represents the strength of women, the power
that each of them can seek and find within themselves. The book
wants to tell something so simple, yet powerful: all obstacles of
existance, and above all those we find in ourselves, can be overcome through the great power of passion, a kind of capacity that
each woman has, able to make of herself a miracle. Because from
your own destiny, by your vocation, you can’t and you should not
run away. Passions, like fate, sooner or later emerge and ask to
be heard. Mila, the protagonist of the book, despite her apparent
serenity about family and work, is a restless woman, who, on the
threshold of her forties, finds herself lost but regains the strength
within herself. Just like Santa Rita, the saint of the impossible.
Two hours of enjoyable reading that should not be missed.
Want Not is the first novel translated into Italian from the
American author Jonathan Miles, to bring this book to Italy
is Minimum Fax, publishing house which is always very attentive to contemporary American literature.
Want Not is a choral novel, not easy to read - but beautiful, intense things almost never are, after all the narrative
unfolds through three paths, three seemingly unrelated narrative strands whose protagonists are ordinary characters,
whose lives are waste, or are invaded full of waste, materials
or metaphorisms. But from this recovered material, of these
pieces that remain, the protagonists, each in his own way,
make of them fuel to start up, to resume their lives. In the
prose by Miles there is no social commentary, no criticism
of the system, but a lucid narrative of the life that proceeds,
inexorable as it should. The novel has been applaused by
American critics: by the New York Times as well as the
Washington Post.
There are themes that are dominated by a moralistic thought
that freezes them preventing any dialectic dissertation, in fact
making them poor and castrating an intellectual exchange on
the matter. Among these themes triumphs, even more than sex
itself, the desire for sex. A desire that animates every human
being, man and woman, even though many deny it. Saverio
Mondadori in his novel Gli amici che non ho (The friends
I don’t have) puts this theme at the centre and addresses the solitude of desire. The desire that leads to betrayal, of others and of
ourselves, because the human being is made of contradictions, but
consistency, as well as loyalty, deserve a new reflection. What
most fascinates from the reading of this book is in fact reflection,
not necessarily as a negative thought, of how human beings are
alone right during the moment of desire. As we discover between
the lines of this novel (Strega Prize nominee of this year, the first
candidate for Code Edizioni) “how poignant vulgarity becomes
when it takes on the figure of extreme sincerity”. To read.

A quattro anni dalla tragica scomparsa dell’artista
pop, il biopic di Kapadia ne celebra il mito. Il
regista vincitore del Sundance Film Festival nel
2011 con il documentario Senna, ripercorre la
vita artistica della cantante fin dall’infanzia.
Il film, seguendo il filo conduttore delle sue
canzoni più celebri, regala ai fan un ritratto
inedito dell’artista. Estratti di filmati casalinghi
ritraggono una Winehouse bambina piuttosto
in carne, fare le boccacce. Poi Amy adolescente,
prima del trucco esagerato, prima dei problemi
alimentari e di alcolismo che la porteranno
alla morte; Amy che canta con spensieratezza
trasudando talento e passione mentre si esibisce
davanti ad un pubblico raccolto. Nel film, oltre
ai materiali video e audio inediti, sono presenti
tantissime testimonianze autentiche dalla voce
della cantante. «Tutto quello che dovevamo
fare - spiega il regista Kapadia - era svelare quei
testi. Questa per me è stata la vera rivelazione:
la scrittura di Amy. Tutti sanno come cantava,
ma forse solo pochi si rendono conto di quanto
scrivesse bene. Ha scritto testi e musica: tutto
era suo». Kapadia non specula sulla dissoluzione
dell’artista, cercando di scavare nella vita
sentimentale della cantante, troppo spesso
oggetto di gossip. Questo il valore aggiunto del
film.

Four years after the tragic death of the pop artist, the
biopic by Kapadia celebrates her stardom. The winning director of the Sundance Film Festival in 2011
with the documentary Senna, traces the artistic life of
the singer since her childhood. The film, following the
thread of her most famous songs, gives fans an unprecedented portrait of the artist. Extracts of home videos
show Winehouse as a chubby child, pulling faces.
Then Amy as a teenager, before the over the top makeup,
before her eating problems and alcoholism that lead to
her death; Amy singing carefree with passion and talent while performing in front of a gathered audience.
In the film, in addition to unpublished video and audio
material, there are many authentic testimonies from the
voice of the singer herself. «All we had to do - explains
the director Kapadia - was to unveil these texts. For
me the real revelation was the writing Amy. Everyone
knows how she could sing, but maybe only few realise
how well she wrote. She wrote lyrics and music: it was
all hers». Kapadia does not speculate on the death of the
artist, trying to dig into the love life of the singer, too
often the subject of gossip. This adds value to the film.

Nel panorama moderno dell’ EDM – electronic
dance music – edulcorata da DJ e produttori superstar come Avicii e David Guetta, Born in the Echoes
è un disco sporco, graffiante, elettrico e furioso.
A cinque anni dal loro ultimo album studio, il duo
britannico porta alla ribalta un sound elettronico
vecchio stile, fatto di linee di basso aggressive, ritmi
martellanti e suoni masticati e fagocitati da mixer
e sintetizzatori in atmosfere sci-fi e cyber punk. Un
lavoro fatto di collaborazioni con voci eccellenti,
sminuzzate e date in pasto a loop elettronici da dance
floor psichedelico: con Go che apre l’album con una
promessa (“We’re only here to make you go”), si passa
subito al limite dell’inquietudine con gli echi di EML
Ritual per poi chiudere con la toccante – a modo loro
– Radiate, fatta di elettroniche dentellate in stile
Daft Punk
Un po’ come Willy il Coyote continua a correre
per aria sopra il burrone senza guardarsi in basso,
Keith Richards continua a scrivere la storia della
musica senza curarsi di bazzecole come l’età – i 70
sono i nuovi 30, in fondo. Chitarrista fondatore
dei Rolling Stones, si ripresenta con il terzo album
solista, a 20 anni dall’ultimo. «Non c’è niente come
entrare in studio senza avere la minima idea di
quello che ne verrà fuori»: una leggerezza riservata
a pochi, a chi può farsi accompagnare da colleghiamici del calibro di Steve Jordan e Bernard Fowler.
Keith Richards non si risparmia, e in pezzi come
Robbed Blind si mette dietro alla chitarra acustica,
al basso, al pianoforte e perfino ai cori, spaziando
dalle note blue di Blues in the Morning al reggae di
Love Overdue: un viaggio nella leggenda che è Keith
Richards.
Per capire Paper Gods basta dare uno sguardo alla
copertina, una composizione iconografica che solo
i veri fan della band possono decifrare a pieno.
Dalle labbra prese direttamente dalla cover di Rio
alla tigre di Seven and the Ragged Tiger, i Duran Duran si autocelebrano in una sequela di immagini
iconiche della loro stellare carriera musicale. Non
a caso: Paper Gods è un ritorno al loro marchio
di fabbrica, a quel pop così puro ma dai bordi
scuri e duri, a cavallo tra Chic e Sex Pistols, come
amavano definirsi loro stessi. Un ritorno anche
a collaborazioni storiche, come quella con Nile
Rodgers, protagonista con il suo tocco inconfondibile del singolo funkeggiante Pressure Off, messo
qui assieme tra l’elettronica moderna e il sound
anni’70. Un album che non può non soddisfare i
fan storici.
Quattro anni di lavoro per questo Sono Io. Non chiamatelo pop italiano: un’etichetta troppo semplice per
un lavoro, quello di Raf, che va a pescare a piene mani
dall’elettropop anni ’80, con influenze funk e dance.
Anche grazie alla collaborazione con il produttore
e bassista dei Subsonica Luca “Vicio” Vicini, Sono
Io è un viaggio fatto di beat grassi e portati, batterie
elettroniche e bassi incalzanti. Tra brani come Amore
Sospeso e Con le Mani Su che sfociano nella dance più
pura, un pezzo orchestrato con pianoforte e archi
come Come Una Favola è quasi fuori contesto: quattro
minuti di intimità che spezzano la tracklist, per poi
tornare subito al tema principale del disco con la title
track Sono Io, dove Raf si dichiara. «Questo sono io,
io sono ciò che penso, suono e canto. Nothing gonna
change my world». Insomma, gli anni ’80 in Raf continuano a battere, forti e chiari.
In the midst of modern EDM - electronic dance music - coloured by superstar DJs and producers like David Guetta
and Avicii, Born in the Echoes is a dirty, scratching,
electric and furious album. Five years after their last studio
album, the British duo bring back to life an old-fashioned
electronic sound, made of aggressive bass lines, pounding
rhythms and sounds chewed and swallowed by mixers and
synthesizers in a sci-fi and cyber punk atmosphere. Work
done in collaboration with excellent voices, chopped up and
fed to electronic loops for a psychedelic dance floor feel: Go
opens the album with a promise(“We’re only here to make
you go”), and then straight to the limit of eeriness with the
echoes of EML Ritual to then close with a touching - in
their own way - Radiate, made of funky electronic sound
in Daft Punk style.
A little like Wile the Coyote keeps running up in
the air above the canyon without looking down, Keith
Richards continues to write the history of music without
worrying about age - 70 is the new 30 after all. Founding
guitarist of the Rolling Stones he returns with his third
solo album 20 years after the last one. «There's nothing quite like going into the studio without having the
slightest idea of what will come out»: a lightheartedness
reserved for few, for those who can call friend-colleagues
the likes of Steve Jordan and Bernard Fowler. Keith
Richards does not stop, and in songs like Robbed Blind
he gets behind the acoustic guitar, bass, piano and even
in the choirs, ranging from blue notes of Blues in the
Morning to reggae of Love Overdue: a trip through the
legendary Keith Richards
To be able to understand Paper Gods just look at the
cover, an iconographic composition that only true fans
of the band can fully appreciate. From the lips taken
directly from the cover of Rio to the tiger of Seven and
the Ragged Tiger Duran Duran celebrate themselves in a string of iconic images from their wonderful
music career. No coincidence then that Paper Gods is a
return to their trademark music, to their pure pop with
dark and hard edges, between Chic and Sex Pistols, as
they liked to define themselves. It is a return also for
historical collaborations like the one with Nile Rodgers, the protagonist with his unmistakable individual
funk in Pressure Off, put together between the modern
electronic and 70s sounds. An album that will not fail to
satisfy long life fans.
Four years of work for Sono Io (It Is Me). Not to be
called Italian pop: it would be a too simple label for this
work from Raf, who mixes elettropop from the 80s with
influences from funk and dance. Also with the help of the
producer and bassist from Subsonica, Luca “Vicio” Vicini, Sono Io is a journey of big beats, electronic drums
and thumping bass. Between songs as Amore Sospeso
and Con le Mani Su that break out in pure dance, an orchestrated piece with piano and strings as Come Una Favola seems almost out of context: four minutes of intimacy
that break the tracklist, to then return immediately to the
main theme of the disc with the title track Sono Io where
Raf declares himself. «This is me, I am what I think, play
and sing. Nothing gonna change my world». In short, the
80s continue to beat, loud and clear within Raf.

IL PASSEGGERO
Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’Unione
Europea ha adottato nuove regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi
che possono essere introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole si applicano nei confronti
tutti i passeggeri in partenza dagli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea verso qualsiasi
destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il relativo bagaglio a mano
devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi. Comunque, le nuove
regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere acquistati presso gli
esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di viaggio od a bordo
di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’Unione Europea.
Le nuove regole si applicano a partire da lunedì 6 novembre 2006, in tutti gli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea, in Norvegia, Islanda e Svizzera a meno di eventuali
modifiche.

Il vostro “orologio biologico” può a volte non gradire i cambi di fuso legati

well being in the air
Stare a lungo seduti in una stessa posizione può farvi sentire a
disagio sull’aereo. Sgranchitevi gambe e braccia ogni due ore
circa. Alzatevi di tanto in tanto e camminate su e giù per il corridoio oppure fate i semplici esercizi* di stretching illustrati per
prevenire problemi circolatori.
Prolonged sitting in a fixed position can make you feel uncomfortable in the plane. Every few hours, stretch your arms and legs
or carry out some easy exercises* suggested below.
Consumate pasti leggeri, mangiate con moderazione e limitare
bevande gassate, tè e caffè.
Eat a light meal and moderate you intake of fizzy drinks, tea and
coffee.
Bevete molta acqua naturale, meglio se in piccole quantità e
spesso.
Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.
Moderate il consumo di bevande alcoliche, poiché queste sono
assorbite più facilmente dal corpo ad alta quota a causa della
bassa pressione dell’aria all’interno della cabina.
Moderate your intake of alcohol.
In caso di permanenza prolungata a bordo è consigliato sostituire le lenti a contatto con degli occhiali per evitare irritazioni
oculari. Togliete sempre le lenti a contatto prima di dormire.
In case of a long flight it is recommended to wear eyeglasses
rather than contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before sleeping.
