benvenuti a bordo.
Dear Passengers,
welcome aboard.
A tutti Voi che avete scelto Blue Panorama per inaugurare
il 2014, i nostri più sinceri e affettuosi auguri di buon anno.
Come è ormai tradizione, alla fine di dicembre di ogni anno
vengono premiate le destinazioni che negli ultimi 12 mesi hanno ottenuto più consensi, quelle che hanno avuto la maggior
crescita d’interesse dai viaggiatori di tutto il mondo. Sono i
"Travelers' Choice Awards for destinations on the rise", nome
lungo e un po' arzigogolato per elencare, in breve, i posti che
"tirano" di più. Sono una specie di "Oscar" dei viaggiatori stabiliti anche in base alle classifiche e ai gradimenti di Tripadvisor, il sito che raduna la più grande community di viaggiatori.
Bene, nel 2013 al primo posto a livello planetario c’è L'Avana,
la capitale di Cuba.
Noi di Blue Panorama, da sempre partner del turismo che
vola verso Cuba, leader internazionali nel traffico passeggeri
su questa splendida destinazione, siamo orgogliosi del risultato e felici di presentarvela in questo numero del magazine
che inaugura il nuovo anno. Cuba è un luogo davvero magico
capace di stregare chiunque: dopo il primo viaggio ne seguono
sempre altri perché c’è tutto, natura, musica, storia, cultura,
una popolazione straordinaria.
Partiamo da Cuba, in questo numero, e proseguiamo le nostre
esplorazioni con l’Egitto, un altro luogo dove relax e cultura
formano un bionomio perfetto, e Panama, luogo affascinante
come pochi altri.

2014, we give our most sincere and affectionate wishes
for the New Year. As now tradition, at the end of each December destinations are chosen for awards, those most
acclaimed and those who have had the highest growth of
interest for travelers from around the world over the past 12
months. These are "Travelers' Choice Awards for destinations on the rise, a long name and intricate catalogue, in
short, to list places that "pull" the most. They are a kind of
traveler’s "Oscar" based also on the data and the likings of
Tripadvisor, the site that brings together the largest travel
community. Well, in 2013 in first place at global level there
is Havana, capital of Cuba.
Here at Blue Panorama, as always tourism partner flying
to Cuba, an international leader in passenger traffic to this
beautiful destination, we are proud of the result and happy
to present it in this issue of the magazine that launches the
New Year. Cuba is a truly magical place that can bewitch
anyone: after the first trip more are followed because there
is everything, nature, music, history, culture, and an extraordinary population.
We start with Cuba in this issue, and we continue our explorations with Egypt, another place where relaxation and
culture form a perfect match, and Panama, a fascinating
place like few others.

non riconoscerebbe questa composizione anche ad occhi chiusi? Si tratta della
tastiera telefonica, uno schema familiare che in molti credono casuale. Niente di
più sbagliato. Dietro la nota disposizione numerica c’è un attento studio portato avanti dai laboratori di ricerca e sviluppo della compagnia statunitense Bell
che, solo dopo aver accuratamente testato ogni proposta, arrivarono a questa
scelta. Far iniziare i 10 numeri dal primo tasto in alto a sinistra si dimostrò la scelta
vincente: solo uno schema di questo tipo sembrava garantire una rapida e precisa
composizione, e il tempo non ha fatto altro che dare ragione a questa intuizione.

differentemente dai cani, non sono stati addomesticati per obbedire. Secondo alcuni studi della University of Japan, i felini si sarebbero addirittura “ammansiti da soli”, avvicinandosi all’uomo all’epoca

delle volte non assumono atteggiamenti comunicativi e non danno
ascolto al proprio padrone pur riconoscendone la voce, a meno che

hi sceglie Cuba per i Caraibi, per il suo mare e le sue
spiagge, non rimarrà mai deluso perché sarà sempre un viaggio da sogno, indimenticabile. Ma chi si
limita solo a questo rischia di perdersi o trascurare uno degli spettacoli più entusiasmanti e emozionanti del mondo,
talmente bello da ferire gli occhi e far sobbalzare il cuore:
l’atmosfera delle sfolgoranti città coloniali di Cuba. Perché
è qui, nella loro architettura, nelle rete delle loro vie e delle
loro piazze, che si annida il vero spirito di Cuba e dei cubani, è qui che nasce la loro vitalità, è qui che è fiorita la loro
musica. Le facciate e l’interno delle chiese, la maestosità dei
palazzi, le pietre rosate che si accendono al tramonto, le ringhiere in ferro battuto, gli scuri accostati, i patii e i cortili
interni, i giardini segreti, le fontane. Ogni cosa è immersa
nella luce e nei colori, e danza, vibra: non sono solo città le
città cubane, sono inni alla gioia di vivere e di stare al mondo. Non è affatto un caso se il fascino coloniale di Cuba ha
stregato e ispirato musicisti, poeti, letterati e pittori arrivati
qui da mezzo mondo e qui rimasti. Del resto qui si parla
di Cuba, Cuba l’ammaliatrice, Cuba la seduttiva, l’isola che
ti ruba l’anima e non te la restituisce più perché, in fondo,
nemmeno tu la vorresti mai indietro: era un dono quello,

non un prestito. Non stupisce allora che anche l’Unesco abbia subito lo stesso fascino e dichiarato molti luoghi di queste città patrimonio culturale dell’umanità: L’Avana Vecchia
e il suo sistema di fortificazioni, Trinidad e gli zuccherifici
della “Valle de los Ingenios, il Castello “San Pedro de la Roca
del Morro” a Santiago de Cuba, la “Valle de Viñales” di Pinar
del Río, il centro storico di Cienfuegos e quello della città
di Camagüey, oltre ai parchi nella province di Granma, Santiago de Cuba, Holguín e Guantánamo. Luoghi diversi ma
animati da un denominatore comune, che poi è la dimensione più evidente di Cuba, quella di essere crogiolo di razze,
mescolanza di culture e di lingue. È per questo che accanto
alle possenti fortificazioni de L’Avana – non solo le più grandi e meglio conservate del Nuovo Mondo ma anche le più
belle – le carrozze a cavalli di San Salvador de Bayamo, l’impianto urbano di Sancti Spíritus e l’atmosfera meticcia di
Santiago, si trovano ancora resti dell’antica cultura indigena
dei Tainos come a Holguín, dove nell’area di ritrovamento di
un villaggio e della relativa zona sepolcrale è stato realizzato
un parco archeologico di 22mila metri quadri che ha il suo
centro nello splendido Museo del Sitio del Chorro de Maita,
un’autentica rarità in tutte le Antille.

hose who choose Cuba as their Caribbean destination,
for its sea and its beaches, will never be disappointed
because it is always an unforgettable dream journey.
However, those who confine themselves only to this option are
in danger of losing or neglecting one of the most thrilling and
exciting views in the world, so beautiful that it blinds and makes
hearts skip a beat: the atmosphere of the dazzling colonial cities of Cuba. Because it is here; in the architecture, the network
of the streets and the squares, where the true spirit of Cuba
and the Cubans lies, this is where their vitality was born, this is
where their music has flourished. The facades and the churches’
interior, the majesty of the buildings, the stones that burn pink
at sunset, the wrought iron railings, the dark sides, the patios
and courtyards, the secret gardens, the fountains. Everything is
bathed in light and colour, they dance, they vibrate, Cuban cities
are not just cities, they are hymns to the joy of living and being in
the world. It is not at all a coincidence that the colonial charm of
Santa Clara.
La città della Rivoluzione
Santa Clara data una fondazione più tarda rispetto alle “magnifiche sette” e
risale alla fine del Seicento, quando alcune famiglie di Remedios decisero di
trasferirsi qui per sfuggire agli incessanti attacchi dei pirati. Oggi è una graziosa
cittadina che si irradia dal Parque Vidal ed è sede della seconda università del
paese. I motivi per cui Santa Clara è nel cuore dei cubani hanno a che fare con
la storia più recente di Cuba. Santa Clara fu infatti il primo centro conquistato
dai barbudos di Castro comandati da Che Guevara e Camilo Cienfuegos: è da
qui insomma che è partita la Revoluciòn e per il Che Santa Clara ha una vera e
propria venerazione. Il Memoriale e il Museo dedicati a Che Guevara sono su
un'altura lungo l'Avenida de Ios Desfiles, appena fuori il centro città. All'interno
del memoriale arde una fiamma perenne per onorare i resti mortali di trentotto rivoluzionari e le spoglie del mitico Comandante. Oltre al Museo Historico
de la Revoluciòn che conserva un’interessante raccolta di foto e cimeli, svetta
nel grande piazzale alle spalle del memoriale la statua di Che Guevara, la più
grande esistente a Cuba eretta in occasione del ventennale del suo assassinio
in Bolivia.

Saga de Il Signore degli Anelli, passando per Bob Dylan in
Io non sono qui –, la diva ha scalato la vetta di Hollywood
avvalendosi solo del suo talento. Ma la sua vita non è sempre stata rose e fiori. «La mia non è stata un'infanzia agiata
– ha dichiarato la celebrità – la scarsità di mezzi era il filo
conduttore delle mie giornate nella casa in cui sono cresciuta da
piccola, a Sydney, in Australia. Mio padre, un ex soldato della
Marina militare degli Stati Uniti, morì giovane per un attacco
di cuore, quando io avevo appena dieci anni. E a mia madre toccò
rimboccarsi le maniche e darsi da fare duramente per provvedere

no, eravamo una famiglia allegra – ha continuato la Blanchett
– ma confesso di aver patito la povertà. Ricordo quei momenti di
panico, quell'angoscia perenne di non avere un soldo. Ma c'è una
forza mentale che emerge dalla mancanza. Mia madre si è indebitata per farmi studiare e tutti noi ci siamo impegnati, con una
volontà di riscatto che ha dell'incredibile. Ci è andata bene. Mia
sorella Geneviève è una scenografa di talento, mentre mio fratello Robert lavora nel mondo dei computer. E io... ho la possibilità
di provvedere economicamente a chi nella mia famiglia dovesse

Un talento, il suo, certificato dai numerosi riconoscimenti
ricevuti: 5 nomination al Premio Oscar – ha portato a casa
la statuetta nel 2005 per la sua interpretazione di Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator – , due Screen Actors Guild
Awards, due Golden Globe, due BAFTA e la stella sulla
Hollywood Walk of Fame. Cos’altro aggiungere ad una
carriera d’oro? Una famiglia perfetta. Nel 1997 sposa il regista e drammaturgo australiano Andrew Upton da cui ha
ben tre figli – Dashell, Roman e Ignatius. Il successo dietro le quinte e sul palcoscenico non le hanno mai dato alla
testa: «Siamo una famiglia normale, anche casa nostra è il caos.
Sono i media che da fuori la fanno sembrare chissacché».

Musa di Woody Allen, a dicembre ha ammaliato gli spettatori di
tutto il mondo interpretando l’antieroina per eccellenza: Jasmine. Il nuovo personaggio di Allen è una newyorkese mondana
che, dopo la tragica fine del suo matrimonio, decide di abbandonare tutto per trasferirsi a San Francisco dalla sorella Ginger e
ritrovare se stessa.
Qui emergerà appieno il personaggio di Jasmine: una donna dal
precario equilibrio psichico – vittima anche degli antidepressivi
assunti – ed economico, interessata più all’apparenza che alla
sostanza. Ginger, comprendendo i limiti psicologici della sorella
e nel tentativo di distrarla dalle continue critiche mosse al suo
fidanzato – agli occhi di Jasmine un perdente perché poco brillante sul piano lavorativo e intellettuale –, le suggerisce di intraprendere la carriera di arredatrice d’interni.
Uno spiraglio di luce nell’ormai stravolta esistenza della protagonista si intravede con l’arrivo di Dwight, un diplomatico rapito
dalla sua bellezza e raffinatezza.
L’ultima fatica di Allen definisce con chiarezza la fragilità della

italiano più popolare all’estero di Laura Pausini, forse
solo Eros Ramazzotti o Andrea Bocelli potrebbero riuscire a insidiarle
un trono dal quale lei, dopo vent’anni
di carriera e oltre 51 milioni di dischi
venduti, può permettersi di guardare
tutti dall’alto in basso, da vera regina
dello star system del pop internazionale. Certo, cambiare incessantemente latitudine anno dopo anno per
portare la propria musica in giro per
il mondo, svegliarsi ogni giorno in un
albergo diverso, cantare in inglese,
spagnolo, francese o portoghese e magari usare le stesse lingue per ordinare
la colazione in camera qualche timore
di perdere la propria identità devono
averlo sollevato se oggi Laura si è fermata a riflettere sulla propria vita, sui
propri affetti e, da romagnola verace,
sulle proprie radici e la propria terra.
Probabilmente molto si deve anche
alla piccola Paola, la figlia che Laura
ha avuto recentemente dal compagno

Twenty years of success
The professional history of Laura Pausini practically merges with her own private
life. In 1991, aged 17, she is enrolled by his father to participate in the selection
of the Castrocaro Festival. The following year she won the TV contest Sanremo
Famosi, but she got to Sanremo only by 1993 when she wins in the New Artists
category. The year following she returned to Ariston in the Champion category
and gained third place. From here the extraordinary abroad adventures begin
for Laura Pausini during which, besides countless platinum discs, she collect a
Grammy Award in 2006 for Best Latin Pop Album with Escucha (before her to
succeeded had only Domenico Modugno in 1958 ) and three Latin Grammy
Awards for Best Female Pop Album in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

Sempre in prima linea al fianco di attori meno noti e di tanti artisti: «Faccio parte dell’Associazione Artisti 607 e do il mio contributo al
Valle occupato, al Cinema Palazzo. Anziché pubblicizzare miti e faccioni
da sostenere e ai quali delegare i nostri desideri di felicità, il tentativo è
quello di coltivare un approccio che parte innanzitutto dal pensare con la
propria testa».

La voglia di recitare l’aveva già da ragazzino, poi

nel film La nostra vita di Daniele Luchetti, 2010

Prossimamente interpreterà il poeta di Recanati nel film Il giovane
favoloso di Mario Martone. Intanto a novembre scorso al Festival
Internazionale del Film di Roma è stato presentato il film L’ultima
ruota del carro che vede Germano nei panni di Ernesto Marchetti,
un eroe d’altri tempi. Quelli in cui: «si cercava il senso della vita
nelle proprie soddisfazioni, nel proprio mestiere, nel modo di relazionarsi con gli altri più che in qualcosa da imitare, da diventare
o da comprare. Si cercava di dare qualcosa agli altri piuttosto che
prendere dagli altri qualcosa in più».

olimpici invernali a Garmisch-Partenkirchen, località sciistica della Germania, nel

Sochi, cittadina della Russia meridionale, nota come
località di villeggiatura e soprattutto di importanti stazioni
sciistiche. Dal 7 al 23 febbraio 2014 la città sarà animata dai 38
Paesi che prenderanno parte all’evento.
Selezionata con votazione nel 2007 dal CIO (Comitato Internazionale Olimpico), la città che si affaccia sulle coste del Mar
Nero ha battuto la rivale sudcoreana Pyeong Chang, dai più
considerata come candidata favorita, dando alla Russia l’opportunità di ospitare per la seconda volta (la prima fu a Mosca
nel 1980, in occasione dei giochi estivi) la fiamma olimpica. E
sempre tramite voto sono state scelte le mascotte olimpiche:
l’orso polare, il leopardo, preferito dal presidente russo Vladimir Putin, e un leprotto delle nevi. Sono pronte ad animare,
con la loro simpatia, tutte le gare. “Hot. Cool. Yours” è invece

The honor of hosting this important event this time goes to Sochi, a city
in southern Russia, known as a holiday

From the 7th to the 23rd of February
2014, the city will be animated by the 38
countries taking part in the event.

Chang, by most regarded as the favored
candidate, giving Russia the opportunity to host for the second time (the first
was in Moscow in 1980, for the Summer Games), the Olympic flame. Again
through voting were also chosen the
Olympic mascots: the polar bear, the
leopard, preferred by Russian President
Vladimir Putin, and a snow hare. They
are ready to animate, with their amicability, all the races! "Hot. Cool. Yours" is
the motto of this edition of the Olympics. The word "hot" symbolises the
passion of the sport and the intensity of
the races, "Cool" recalls the winter and

individual spectator.
The skiing competitions are not only

OLYMPICS
Alpine skiing has been part of the program only since
the fourth edition of the Olympic Winter Games in
Garmisch-Partenkirchen ski resort in Germany, in 1936.
The formula states that the two categories (male and
female) contest, over a period of about two weeks,
within a single station or ski area. A race for each discipline: Alpine combined, downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom. Austria holds the record for most victories
with a total of 105 medals (31 gold medals, 35 silver and
39 bronze) won by its athletes.

utti conoscono Pablo Picasso e il suo cubismo. Non tutti
probabilmente conoscono il periodo blu della sua produzione artistica, una fase meno nota ma dal fascino indiscutibile.
«Non ho mai reso la pittura un’opera d’arte. è solo ricerca» diceva il grande artista spagnolo. Sperimentazione, dunque, la sua parola d’ordine, e il periodo blu è figlio di questa rigorosa regola che rese l’arte
di Picasso la prima in grado di rompere con la tradizione.
Ma cosa s’intende per periodo blu? Dal 1901 al 1904, prima della nota fase di sperimentazione cubista, Picasso mostra tratti
differenti e originali: una pittura monocromatica che vede come
protagonista il blu, usato in tutte le sue tonalità e sfumature, per
trasmettere inquietudine, malinconia, solitudine.
Scelto per la sua forza espressiva e per la valenza psicologica che
possiede, il blu è un colore freddo e spietato, ideale per rispondere
all’esigenza di Picasso: rappresentare la società emarginata. Persone deboli, sfruttate e poveri vengono immortalati per colpire lo
spettatore troppo spesso indifferente.
Picasso vuole denunciare la realtà priva di valori che lo circonda,
quel mondo ormai decadente in cui si trova a vivere. E il colore
blu ha in tal senso una connotazione sentimentale e sacra: creature
vinte e sole, ciechi, mendicanti, girovaghi chiedono aiuto attraverso le fredde tele dell’artista.

veryone knows Pablo Picasso and his cubism. Not everyone may know the blue period of his artistic production,
a phase less known but with undisputable charm.
«I never made the painting a work of art. It 's just a search» said
the great Spanish artist. Experimenting, therefore, his rule. The
blue period is the son of this strict rule which made the art of
Picasso the first able to break tradition.
But what is meant by this blue period? From 1901 to 1904, before well knows phase of cubist experimentation, Picasso exhibits different and original traits: a monochromatic painting in
blue, used in all its shades and hues, to convey anxiety, melancholy, loneliness.
Chosen for its expressive power and the psychological value
it has, the color blue is cold and ruthless, ideal to meet the
demands of Picasso: to represent a marginalized society. Weak,
poor and exploited people are immortalised in order to hit the
viewer, whom is too often indifferent.
Picasso wants to depict the reality deprived of values that surrounds him, the decadent world in which he finds himself living.
The color blue has in this sense a sentimental and sacred connotation: lost and lonely creature, blinds, beggars, wanderers
asking for help through the cool blue canvases of the artist.

Sono in molti a credere che la nascita di
questa fase pittorica dell’artista coincida
con la morte di Carles Casagemas. La
sera del 17 gennaio 1901 l’artista, grande amico di Picasso e suo inseparabile
compagno, chiede la mano di Germanie
Gargallo, una bella ragazza con la quale aveva avuto una relazione. Il rifiuto di
Germanie conduce il giovane al suicidio.

Many believe that the birth of this pictorial phase of the artist
Picasso coincides with the death of Carles Casagemas. On the
evening of January 17, 1901, the artist, a great friend of Picasso
asked for the hand in marriage of Germanie Gargallo, a beautiful
girl with whom he had had an affair. The refusal of Germanie leads the young man to suicide. Picasso is not next to his friend at
this time. An unexpected journey forced him to be away from the
city temporarily. The tragedy hit him deeply: Picasso begins to be
obsessed and haunted by the feeling of guilt for not being beside
his friend, already suffering from manic-depressive crisis, in times
of need. After the death of Casagemas, Picasso began to vent
his pain: the pain is transferred onto the canvas by the color blue.

l Mar Rosso è noto soprattutto
per la vicenda biblica di Mosè e
la separazione delle acque. Esiste
però un’altra vicenda, storica questa
volta, che ha ancora a che fare con divisioni e religione ma che a tratti assume anche i colori di un appassionante
romanzo dove intrighi, assassinii, devozione e misticismo si intrecciano in
una trama che non ha nulla da invidiare al Nome della rosa di Eco. Efeso, Anatolia, 431 d.C., i vescovi delle grandi
città della cristianità sono chiamati a
Concilio per dirimere una controversia che sta scuotendo dalle fondamenta l’unità dell’impero già duramente
provato dalle invasioni dei barbari: la
natura di Cristo è più umana, più divina o ha entrambe nello stesso modo?
Nestorio di Antiochia propende per
una natura prevalentemente umana
ma ha come avversario, che sostiene
la natura divina, il vescovo Cirillo, patriarca di Alessandria, uno che non va
tanto per le spicce visto che si era già
segnalato pochi anni prima per essere stato il mandante dell’assassinio di
Ipazia, la matematica greca che non
voleva smettere di fare la scienziata.
Cirillo, approfittando di alcune assenze importanti e ricorrendo alla propria
guardia personale di fanatici parabolani, con intimidazioni e corruzioni
aveva assunto la presidenza dell’as-

esiste ancora oggi col nome di Chiesa
Copta. La via al monachesimo che era
già una componente forte un secolo
prima, ai tempi di Antonio e Pacomio,
si estremizza e i monasteri sorgono
un po’ ovunque, soprattutto in zone
desertiche e impervie, sia nei pressi
della costa occidentale del Mar Rosso,
sia nella penisola del Sinai. Quando
arrivano gli arabi l’isolamento diventa
completo e la chiesa si cristallizza sulle
sue posizioni. Però è proprio agli arabi
che dobbiamo il termine copto – è la
storpiatura araba della parola Eghiptos – e la possibilità di visitare intatti
e non corrotti questi luoghi del Cristianesimo più antico. Così se decide
per una località di mare come Dahab,
Nuweiba, Taba o Sharm El Sheikh, fra
un’immersione e un drink sulla spiaggia, sarebbe davvero imperdonabile
perdersi quell'atmosfera di rarefatta
spiritualità che aleggia al Monastero di
Santa Caterina, una fortezza nel deserto che all’interno di mura alte anche
15 metri conserva gelosamente un patrimonio di valore inestimabile: oltre
2000 preziose icone e più di 3000 manoscritti in greco, siriaco e altre lingue

orientali. Senza parlare dell’ascensione a dorso di cammello
sul sovrastante Monte Sinai, il monte delle Tavole di Mosè,
da cui si gode una vista magnifica. Se invece si preferisce
la costa occidentale – Hurghada, Port Safaga, Al-Quseir,
Berenice o Marsa Alam – c’è solo da scegliere se visitare
il monastero di San Paolo, quello di Sant Antonio o, in un
impeto da viaggiatore del tempo, dirigersi verso Luxor, un
luogo dove il tempo è rimasto fermo a 3500 anni fa.

Sabbie dorate che si perdono in acque cristalline da cui
riverberano incredibili tonalità e sfumature di colore.
Colori che si trovano anche appena sotto la superficie
dell’acqua, perché qui siamo ai tropici, c’è la barriera
corallina e il mare esplode in milioni di forme di vita. È
il Mar Rosso, una lingua d’acqua che si insinua in mezzo al deserto e lambisce con la punta biforcuta di un
serpente tentatore il Sinai. Una destinazione che si può
scegliere tutto l’anno e dove il dilemma è solo quello di
decidere quale angolo di paradiso abitare fra le magie
di un posto unico al mondo come Sharm El Sheikh, con
la spiaggia Na'ama Bay e i fondali di Capo Ras Mohammed, il Blue Hole e le oasi di Dahab, l’incontaminata
barriera corallina di Port Ghalib o l’incontro fra l’oro del
Sahara e il turchese del mare di Marsa Alam.

Golden sands, hidden in the crystal clear waters from
which shine incredible hues and shades of colours. Colours that are also seen just below the surface of the water, because here it is the tropics, there is a coral reef
and the sea explodes into millions of forms of life. It is
the Red Sea, a strip of water that sneaks into the middle
of the desert and licks, like a forked serpent, the Sinai. A
destination that can be chosen all year round and where
the dilemma is just to decide which piece of paradise to
experience in the magic of a unique place in the world,
like Sharm El Sheikh, with the beach Naama Bay and the
sea beds of Ras Cape Mohammed, the Blue Hole and
the Dahab oasis, the uncontaminated coral reefs of Port
Ghalib or the meeting point between the gold of the
Sahara and the turquoise of the sea at Marsa Alam.

Cyril, taking advantage of some important
absences and resorting to his personal
guards of Parabolan fanatics, used
intimidation and corruption to take over
the chairmanship of the Assembly and

Sinai, the mountain of the Tablets of
Moses, which offers a magnificent view.
If the west coast is prefered - Hurghada,

Alam - you just have to choose whether
to visit the monastery of St. Paul over that
of San Antonio or, for a time travelling
experience, head to Luxor, a place where

he Red Sea is well known for the biblical story of Moses
and the parting of the waters. Yet, there is another story,
historical this time, which also is about divisions and
religion but in parts takes on the colors of a passionate novel
where intrigue, murder, devotion and mysticism are intertwined
in a plot that has nothing to envy from the Name of the Rose by
Eco. Ephesus, Anatolia, 431 AD, the bishops of the great cities
of Christianity are called to council to settle controversy that has
shaken the foundations of the unity of the empire already tried
by the invasions of the barbarians: the nature of Christ is more
human, more divine or is both in the same way? Nestorius of
Antioch favored a predominantly human side but had an enemy
whom supported the divine nature, Bishop Cyril, patriarch of
Alexandria, a man without haste seen as he had already reported

atura incontaminata, mare cristallino ed eleganti abitazioni coloniali che si alternano a modernissimi grattacieli e, come una corona, cingono
la riva dell’oceano. E’ proprio questo mix di modernità e
tradizione a cogliere di sorpresa chi visita Panama. Mentre
la frenetica City rappresenta, infatti, un punto strategico
per il commercio mondiale e le comunicazioni, nelle numerosissime isolette dell’arcipelago San Blas si possono visitare i caratteristici villaggi ad economia rurale in cui è facile

incontrare donne dell’etnia Kuna intente a vendere molas,
tradizionali arazzi colorati 100 % fatti a mano.
Bocas del Toro, confinante con la Costa Rica, è l’altro grande arcipelago di Panama che merita senza dubbio una visita per la straordinaria bellezza delle sue acque limpide.
Tra le isole si distingue Isla Colon, la più rappresentativa
del tranquillo stile di vita caraibico, mentre Cayo Cora,
Cayos Zapatillas, Isla Cristobal e Isla de los Pájaros sono
gettonate mete di subacquei per la presenza di meravigliosi
reef corallini, delfini, stelle marine e fondali stupefacenti.
Panama ha da sempre grande attenzione e rispetto per la
natura. Vanta infatti ben cinque siti dichiarati Patrimonio
Mondiale dell’Umanità dall’UNESCO. Tra di essi il Parque
Internacional La Amistad, al confine con il Costa Rica, e il
Parque Nacional Darién che si estende per ben 579.000
ettari e che comprende una foresta tropicale umida da
primato (è seconda al mondo solo all’Amazzonia per biodiversità). Infine il Parque Nacional Coiba, uno dei tesori

communications, in the numerous isles of San Blas you
can visit quaint villages with a rural economy in which it
is easy to see the Kuna women determined to sell molas,
traditional 100% hand-made colorful tapestries .
Bocas del Toro, bordering Costa Rica, is the other major
islands of Panama, which is certainly worth a visit if just
for the extraordinary beauty of its clear waters. Among
the islands Isla Colon stands out, the most typical for the
peaceful Caribbean lifestyle, while Cayo Cora, Cayos Zapatillas, Isla Cristobal and Isla de los Pájaros are popular
destinations due to the presence of beautiful coral reefs,
dolphins, starfish and other varieties of marine animals .

Panama has always had great care and respect for nature. The
country boasts of five sites declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Among these, the Parque Internacional La Amistad,
located on the border and shared with Costa Rica and the
Parque Nacional Darién that extends for a whopping 579,000
acres and includes a record holding tropical rainforest for its
humidity (it is second in the world only to the Amazon for
biodiversity). Finally, the Parque Nacional Coiba, one of the
ecological treasures of Panama, which for its thriving marine
fauna has been compared to the Galapagos.

ensa, cremosa, avvolgente,
rassicurante: la bevanda ideale per i giorni più freddi è la
cioccolata calda.
Uniti in un caldo abbraccio, latte e
cioccolata sono gli ingredienti base di
questa bevanda dalle origini antichissime. Dalle Americhe alla Vecchia Europa, la cioccolata arrivò nel XVI secolo.
Diffusa inizialmente solo tra i nobili,
la ricetta raggiunse i palati del popolo
solo parecchio più tardi. Oggi la cioccolata è un piacere di tutti!
Ma qual è la ricetta per avere una cioccolata densa al punto giusto?
Prendete la cioccolata, possibilmente
biologica – evitate le marche più commerciali – quindi orientatevi verso le
barrette con alta percentuale di fava
di cacao e burro di cacao, con poco
zucchero aggiunto. Per tutte le ricette a base di cioccolata, ricordatevi di
leggere bene l’etichetta. Fate sciogliere
il cioccolato fondente a bagnomaria,
per velocizzare il processo spezzate la
barretta in tanti quadratini. Nel frattempo versate il latte in un pentolino
e aggiungete l’amido di mais e il cacao
in polvere setacciati, a fuoco lento mescolate con una frusta per evitare che si
formino grumi. Aggiungete lo zucchero. Quando il latte sarà caldo, ma non
avrà ancora raggiunto la temperatura
di ebollizione, unite al latte il cioccolato fuso e amalgamate il tutto con la
frusta. Continuate a girare ancora per
un po’ fintanto che avrete ottenuto la
densità perfetta. Aggiungete zucchero
a piacimento. I più golosi possono aggiungere una spruzzata di panna montata o dei soffici marshmallows.

cold days is hot chocolate.
The holidays are over, winter is still long,
summer just a distant memory. United in
a warm embrace, milk and chocolate are
the basic ingredients of this drink of ancient origins.
From the Americas to the Old Europe,
chocolate arrived in the sixteenth century. Used initially only among the nobles,
the recipe reached the buds of the popu-
lation much later. Today, chocolate is a
treat for everyone!
But what is the recipe to a perfect dense
hot chocolate?
Take the chocolate, preferably organic,
avoid the commercial brands, and lead
yourself towards bars with a high percentage of cocoa beans and cocoa butter, with little sugar added. For all chocolate based recipes, remember to read the
label. Melt the chocolate in bain-marie,
to speed up the process brake the bar in
many squares. Meantime, pour the milk
into a saucepan and add cornstarch and
cocoa powder, sifted. Stir with a whisk to
prevent lumps over a low heat. Add the
sugar. When the milk is hot, but not yet
reached the boiling point, add milk to
the melted chocolate and mix well together with a whisk. Continue mixing for
a while until you have achieved the perfect density. Add sugar to taste.
For the sweet toothed a splash of
whipped cream or soft marshmallows.

sacralità della vita quotidiana, organizzati in un percorso

Fin dai suoi esordi come fotografo freelance, Nomachi
ha incentrato la sua arte intorno al tema “della preghiera
della ricerca del sacro”, rivolgendo il suo sguardo alle più
varie culture tradizionali, che rappresentano l’espressione
dei popoli stanziati nei luoghi più impervi e remoti, spesso
agli antipodi del mondo.
Le sue fotografie colgono l’aura magica abbagliante e la
dignità assoluta che avvolge l’individuo contestualizzato
in paesaggi di rara bellezza.

his attention to more traditional cultures, which represent the expression
of the people settled in the most inaccessible and remote places, often
at the antipodes of the world.
His photographs capture the magical aura and the absolute dignity that
surround the individual contextualised in landscapes of rare beauty.

Sono nove le sezioni tematiche in cui
si sviluppa il percorso espositivo. Tra di
esse L’età della Bohème che presenta
uno dei primi nudi; Des femmes passent
dans la rue (Proust), dedicata ai ritratti
femminili di donne dell’epoca e Infanzia, con il celeberrimo ll clown (ritratto di
Coco). I visitatori hanno anche l’opportunità di vedere dal vivo gli strumenti originali di lavoro del celebre maestro: colori,
pennelli e tavolozze.

The Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de
l'Orangerie in Paris have lended sixty
masterpieces to the GAM in Turin for an
exhibition that presents the most representative and famous works of the artist.
There are nine themed sections through
which the exposition develops. Among
them, The Age of Bohème which presents
one of the first nudes; Des femmes passent dans la rue (Proust), dedicated to
portraits of epoch women and Childhood,
with the famous The Clown (Claude Renoir in Clown Costume). Visitors have the
opportunity to see the original work tools
of the famous master: paints, brushes and
palettes.

Una mostra che ha come obiettivo quello
di restituire a Grignani la sua complessità
d’artista. Il graphic designer noto per aver
creato vari marchi industriali – tra cui il simbolo della pura lana vergine – si è espresso
nella sua carriera anche come architetto,
fotografo e art director.
L’obiettivo della sua ricerca è stato sempre incentrato sull’approfondimento della
percezione dell’immagine e “le regole”
ad essa sottese. Le opere esposte alla
Galleria Gruppo Credito Valtellinese sono
espressione dei suoi complessi studi sulle
figure. Per Grignani, infatti, «l’immagine

The graphic designer, known for creating
various industrial brands including the
emblem for pure virgin wool, has also expressed his artistic career as an architect,
photographer and art director.
The goal of his research has always been
focused on intensifying the perception
of the image and the "rules" underlying it. The works on display at the Galleria Gruppo Credito Valtellinese are an
expression of his complex studies on
figures. For Grignani, in fact "the image
reaches its dynamic unity through various levels of integration: tension, rhythm,
mathematical harmony. The experiment
is the result of a conflict between external and internal forces, between dynamic
forces and forces of reference".

Fred Otash, detto Freddy, è lo
spietato poliziotto corrotto e
investigatore privato che negli
anni ’50 fece la fortuna del magazine scandalistico made in Los
Angeles Confidential, con cui
collaborava in qualità di informatore. Grazie a lui la rivista rivelava segreti, reali o frutto della sua
fantasia, riguardanti personalità
e celebrità del calibro di J.F. Kennedy, Liz Taylor, Marlon Brando,
Katharine Hepburn, Lana Turner,
Marilyn Monroe, Ingrid Bergman, James Dean, Frank Sinatra,
Walt Disney e Alfred Hitchcock.
Ormai anziano, poco prima di “tirare le cuoia”, aveva cominciato a raccontare in un programma televisivo la sua vita. A trapasso avvenuto si ritrova rinchiuso nella Cella 2607 dell'Istituto di
Pena del Purgatorio dei Perversi, nel Braccio degli Sconsiderati
“Scassa Famiglie”. Lì viene torturato da coloro che in vita furono sue vittime e che però lo mettono in contatto telepatico
con lo scrittore James Ellroy al quale dovrà raccontare le sue
memorie.
Tante short stories sull’amore,
o meglio, sui complicati rapporti che si nascondono dietro
questa parola. Dan Rhodes descrive, in una sorta di antologia
della coppia, spassose storie
di tradimenti, litigi, separazioni, matrimoni non proprio ortodossi, inadeguatezza sessuale,
episodi che delineano le tante
sfaccettature della vita in due.
Fatti al limite del paradosso: fidanzamenti rotti in ospedale, a
un passo dalla sala di rianimazione, un amante abbandonato che per amore si umilia al punto
da comprare una batteria di pentole completa dalla donna che
ama e che si improvvisa rappresentante “porta a porta”. Infine
una ex adultera che curiosamente finisce con il diventare improbabile elemento d’arredo.
Senza scadere mai nella volgarità, il giovane autore britannico
Dan Rhodes dipinge con variopinte pennellate le immagini delle
coppie di oggi, servendosi di aneddoti leggeri e soprattutto divertenti, da leggere uno dopo l’altro.

Un ritorno elettrizzante quello di Bruce Springsteen, in uscita
con il suo nuovo album High Hopes. La nuova fatica discografica
del Boss vanta la collaborazione di Tom Morello, storico membro dei Rage Against The Machine che, tra cover e inediti, ha
prestato voce e chitarra in ben otto pezzi del CD. Le voci dei
due artisti si uniscono in un matrimonio impeccabile: due personalità diverse Morello e Springsteen, l'uno chitarrista dal suono
potente, creativo, originale, l'altro vera icona del rock mondiale, che sorprendono con questa inaspettata e felice unione così

UNA GUIDA RAPIDA PER AIUTARE
IL PASSEGGERO
Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’Unione Europea ha adottato nuove regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi che possono essere
introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole si applicano nei confronti
tutti i passeggeri in partenza dagli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea verso qualsiasi destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il relativo
bagaglio a mano devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi.
Comunque, le nuove regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere
acquistati presso gli esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di viaggio od a bordo di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’Unione
Europea.
Le nuove regole si applicano a partire da lunedì 6 novembre 2006, in tutti gli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea, in Norvegia, Islanda e Svizzera a meno di eventuali
modifiche.
A SHORT GUIDE TO HELP YOU
To protect you against the new threat of liquid explosives, the European Union (EU)
introduced new security rules to limit the amount of liquids that you can take through
security checkpoints. They apply to all passengers departing from EU airports to all
destinations.
This means that, at security checkpoints, you and your hand luggage must be inspected for liquids screening in addition to other prohibited articles. However, the
new rules do not limit the liquids that you can buy at shops located beyond the
checkpoints.
The new rules are in force as to Monday 6th November 2006 at all airports in the EU
and in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland until further notice.

Jet Lag
Il vostro “orologio biologico” può a volte non gradire i cambi di fuso
legati al viaggio aereo: senso di affaticamento, difficoltà a prendere
sonno e riduzione dell’appetito sono tra i sintomi più comuni. Per minimizzare l’impatto di tale fenomeno, si consiglia di dormire bene la
notte prima del volo e di mantenere le proprie “lancette biologiche”
sull’orario di casa se la permanenza nel luogo di destinazione non dovesse superare i due giorni. In caso di una permanenza più prolungata, è
opportuno adeguarsi il prima possibile all’orario locale e attenersi a regole di vita
salutari, tenendo presente che il recupero degli effetti “jet lag” è generalmente
più rapido se si viaggia con direzione ovest e più lento con direzione est.
Sometimes you “biological clock” may not welcome the time changes involved
in air travel and it finds ways of letting you know about this. Some of the most
common symptoms are a sense of weariness, difficulty in falling asleep at night
and appetite loss. To minimize jet lag effects, make sure you get a good night
sleep before leaving and, if you plan to stay abroad less than two days, keep you
biological clock set on your home time (i.e. keep your regular eating and sleeping
habits). In the event of a longer trip, it is advisable to get used to local time as
soon as possible and to conduct a regular and healthy life. Remember that getting over jet lag is generally quicker when travelling westwards than eastwards.

To help you feel better when you fly with us, just follow these
tips and suggestions designed to enhance your well being on
board
Stare a lungo seduti in una stessa posizione può farvi sentire a
disagio sull’aereo. Sgranchitevi gambe e braccia ogni due ore
circa. Alzatevi di tanto in tanto e camminate su e giù per il corridoio oppure fate i semplici esercizi* di stretching illustrati per
prevenire problemi circolatori.
Prolonged sitting in a fixed position can make you feel uncomfortable in the plane. Every few hours, stretch your arms and legs
or carry out some easy exercises* suggested below.
Consumate pasti leggeri, mangiate con moderazione e limitare
bevande gassate, tè e caffè.
Eat a light meal and moderate you intake of fizzy drinks, tea and
coffee.
Bevete molta acqua naturale, meglio se in piccole quantità e
spesso.
Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.
Moderate il consumo di bevande alcoliche, poiché queste sono
assorbite più facilmente dal corpo ad alta quota a causa della
bassa pressione dell’aria all’interno della cabina.
Moderate your intake of alcohol.
In caso di permanenza prolungata a bordo è consigliato sostituire le lenti a contatto con degli occhiali per evitare irritazioni
oculari. Togliete sempre le lenti a contatto prima di dormire.
In case of a long flight it is recommended to wear eyeglasses
rather than contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before sleeping.

Iniziate gli esercizi stando seduti in modo comodo ed eretto.
Start the exercise by sitting in comfortably in your seat in an upright position.

Poggiate entrambi i piedi sul pavimento. Flettete i piedi puntando i talloni in su e poi in giù. Ripetete per cinque volte.
Rest both feet on the floor. Flex both feet with toes pointing
upward, then point your toes downward Perform this exercise
five times.

Sollevate dolcemente il ginocchio verso il busto per alcuni secondi, poi lasciatelo andare, poggiando nuovamente il piede
sul pavimento. Fate lo stesso con l’altra gamba. Ripetete cinque
volte per gamba.
Raise you knee gently towards the chest for a few seconds and
then release, placing your feet back on the floor. Continue with
the other leg. Repeat five times for each leg.

Mettete le mani sotto una coscia e sollevatele dolcemente verso il busto. Ruotate la caviglia in modo circolare per 5 secondi.
Ripetete con l’altra gamba. Ripetete questo esercizio cinque
volte per gamba.
Place your hands under one thigh, and gently lift toward your
chest. Rotate your ankle in a circular motion for 5 seconds. Repeat with the other leg. Perform this exercise five times with
both legs.
