A R A N D O ARANDO TRA ARTE ORAFA E SCULTURA Arando. Goldsmith's ar t and sculpture “Niente è più rivelatore del movimento” "Nothing is more revealing than the movement." In Arando's artistic life, the movement per vades ever y part of his work as a recognizable thread always present in more than 30 years of activity. Living and dynamic sculptures as expression of a new outlook and style to describe the world. Subjects as hug, mother, dance, freedom and loneliness belong to an only stylistic, innovator y and memorable code. Master Antonino Rando has the great aesthetic ability to create evocative sculpture and jewels which are able to give a satisfacting connotation wherever they are. Moreover, master Rando knows how to convey the typical eloquent language of modern art in a calmer world as the one of jewels. He creates something unique, a precious object as a work of art which adorns woman's body. Ever y jewel is thought like this: master Rando draws it, his staff of artisans carr y out the piece, in total respect for the most ancient goldsmith's tradition. Arando's firm uses the old "cire perdue" technique; ever y jewels are handmade, piece by piece, in order to leave a mark in our time. IL MAESTRO ESTRO CREATIVO The master. An original view of world TRADIZIONE IL VALORE DEL METODO Tradition. The value of method Una tecnica antica come la fusione del metallo nobile. Una sapienza lontana tramandata negli anni. Una mano abile che regola ogni movimento. An ancient technique as the melting of noble metal. A far knowledge handed down till nowadays. A capable hand in every movement. METALLI PREZIOSI TEMPRATI DA MANI ESPERTE Precious metal. "Art does not reproduce what is visible but makes visible what is not always so." It is incredibly suggestive to watch how Arando's jewel shape up from the raw and even precious metal. It all starts by melting gold, which taken to the highest temperature approximately 1000/1090 degrees in suitable crucibles, masterly combined with other metals to confer to it the colour, the hardness and the right, it solidifies into the cast iron moulding boxes getting the shape of a raw ingot.Through a parallel working, after having created the work of art in wax sectioned over numerous parts, the same is mounted into a small tree shape paying attention that every element is connected through wax sticks: the small tree produced is inserted into a steel cylinder and covered with casting of refractory chalk whose temperature will subsequently be raised to 700 degrees, in a suitable oven to burn out the wax and create a vacuum inside the chalk. At this stage the gold is liquefied and poured into the refractory cylinder, filling up within a few seconds the emptiness left by the wax (from which derives the definition of "lost-wax "process) by solidifying itself into the same shape and modelling made by the wax. The hot cylinder is immerged into the water which by reacting to the chalk temperature, melts it, thus freeing the golden tree and thus destroying the imprint which formerly created inside the refractory cylinder. It might happen, unfortunately, that the metal presents some melting imperfections which would inevitably result in the destruction of the article which, therefore, has to be remade so that only perfectly melted items can be accepted to get to the next working phases. It is at this stage that the goldsmiths' work starts: by cutting, filing and soldering the various parts of the article until the production of the final jewel, obviously always following the Master Rando's indications who attentively supervises every working phase. Only when assured of having a completely suitable jewel, from the thickness to the weight, from the shape to the anatomic wearability to the colour up to the softness of the raw surfaces, it will be possible to pass to the crafty polishing stage, eliminating all previous working marks. The whole process requires a lot of time and, notwithstanding the rather demanding selection which the jewels are subjected to, it could still be possible that during the polishing process some minute faults may emerge, thus forcing the goldsmiths to destroy, even at this stage, and restart the manufacturing process anew. This would cause an increase in the production costs but it would, nevertheless, guarantee a jewel of absolute excellence. Following a final check by Master Rando the jewel is declared ready to be worn and enjoyed. Such an attentive and careful manufacturing process is rather far detached from the computerized industrial criteria productions with a low costs high volume output devoid of any feelings; something that only an artisan can instil in his product. 3 Rejects of a melting. Mr Rando with his staff check every pieces: if a jewel has a fault, it will be destroyed and remade. This increase the costs of production but the jewel is guaranteed as perfect. 3 1 Detail of manual job by using a file. 2 A workbench where you can feel the special atmosphere of tradition. 4 Phase of the final polishing. "The wait reduces small passions and increases the big ones." People who grow up a passion get used to wait in order to obtain the object they wanted. Obviously, it needs more time because of its peculiarities, and these experts realized it's a mark of high quality. UN PROCESSO LENTO LABORIOSITÀ E DEDIZIONE A slow process. Exacting job and devotion GIOIELLI E SCULTURE ANIMO NOBILE Jewels and sculptures. A noble soul "A person who has no foresight will never achieve what he has strived for or start a great undertaking." "Discovering consists in seeing what everyone has seen and thinking what nobody else has thought of" "Lo scoprire consiste nel vedere ciò che tutti hanno visto e nel pensare ciò che nessuno ha pensato" “Il valore di un'opera d'arte si misura dalla quantità di lavoro fornita dall'artista” (Apollinaire) "The value of a work of art depends on the artist's spent time." Each jewel is an ensemble of style, research, technique, wearability, elegance and uniqueness. These values are closely linked to the master's identity and that of his staff in order to create jewels of rare beauty and an extraordinary artistic level. By following certain themes through his jewels, Arando walks down an original path, in which he reinterprets key concepts found in our society. Through his objects, he expresses a part of himself and of his outlook of the world. To wear one of these jewels is different from wearing any other, no matter from where it hails, as they possess a soul. Their ultimate goal is not that of adorning a woman's body, or being an indication of wealth, but that of expressing a way of being and of interpreting the world that surrounds us. sculture sculptures 1 2 1 Un particolare dell’anello Tesoro, sormontato da una perla nera. 2 Un close up del girocollo luna. 1 Detail of "treasure" ring with a black pearl 2 Close up of "moon" necklace sculture 1 Girocollo “Famiglia”, con pendente in oro e perle, in edizione numerata è personalizzabile grazie alla possibilità di scegliere la pietra da applicarvi. 2 Anello “Becco”. 3 Anello “Pesci”. 4 Anello “Ciliegio”. 5 Anello “Fanciulla”. 6 Anello “Tentazione”. 7 Anello “Recita”. 8 Anello “Sogno”. 9 Girocollo “Famiglia”, con pendente in oro e diamanti grezzi. da indossare sculptures to put on 1 "Family" necklace with pendant in gold and pearls. THEMES. Togetherness, invocation, surprise, solitude, mother, dancing, shouting, embracing: these are some of the many themes which Rando has used along his very fortunate artistic path. Each one of these themes represents a state of mind and possesses a universal value, for it relates to every man and woman in the same way. What is astounding is the ability with which Rando has managed to capture in his jewels at least a part of the essence of these moods, thus passing onto those who wear them the possibility of reliving such intense feelings. "So we are men and we don't know how: there is anything in us which can exist without us, and will exist also after us." "Thoughts cease flowing into the heart if they aren't expressed. An idea is like a rare bird we can't see. We are only able to see the trembling branch from where it has flown off.” "Freedom" handmade watch with face in white gold, made with the "cire perdue" technique, case in silver, red watch strap in crocodile skin and quartz movement. "When a work of art seems to be ahead of its time, it is because time is not up-to-date with it." Measuring of time has always interested Master RANDO, so his watches are all handmade and their faces show his most well-known themes. They are limited editions, as the collection of watches in gold where every subjects are made in 99 examples. Arando's watches have all characteristics of his jewels as simple or complex shapes, new or classical. There are bracelets where case and face are melted in the same sculpture or more classical versions with sculpted faces and watch strap in skin. Arando's watches go over the standard idea of modern watchmaking: on your wrist you are wearing a small precious timeless sculpture. SCULTURA E DINAMISMO IL TRATTO DEL MAESTRO Sculptures and dynamism. "Two faces side by side, deep gazes, bodies united as one." Rando's sculptures spread vibrations. On sight, they momentarily capture your mind to try and interpret its meaning. They are able to stand out both in physical and mental space, they are predominant, slender and dynamic. They express the stroke of a master and his skill. Size, shape, material and colour become elements to decipher in order to understand what so proudly stands forth before one's eyes. As his jewels, also Rando's sculptures possess their own soul, a way of being and communicating with the world, their own way of representing the moods which generated them and upon which they are based. It is first and foremost a sign before a material element, feelings before a piece of furniture, passion before an aesthetic sense. Absolutely unique.
