Doppia personale in 3D per FOSCA , artista italiana e ASTOLFO FUNES, artista latino americano, protagonisti del Face-to-face curato da
Dores Sacquegna e prodotto da Primo Piano LivinGallery nella piattaforma PROJECT ROOM, una esposizione allestita esclusivamente online
in real-time 24/24h sino alla fine dell’evento. FUNES & FOSCA, due artisti di riferimento della PPLG, presentati negli anni precedenti con
mostre personali e collettive in galleria e fuori sede. Profondamente diversi per tecniche e concept espressivo, eppure c’ qualcosa che li
lega: la ricerca identitaria, la predisposizione al frammento, gli aspetti legati al femminile, l’alchimia cromatica, la molteplicità, il corpo e la
sessualità.
FOSCA (Marcella Fusco) è uno pseudonimo nato in concomitanza con il ciclo creativo ANGELS, come momento di rinascita. In senso
etimologico, Fosca deriva da Fuscus-Oscuro, che rappresenta il suo carattere primordiale, oscuro e molto creativo. Dopo una prima fase
polimaterica di oltre dieci anni, l’artista è giunta ad una sintesi espositiva ed esplorativa del mezzo tecnologico, allestendo un set ricco di
sperimentazioni. In questa personale online, infatti, sono presenti quattro differenti cicli (dal 2000 al 2013) con opere che mescolano
elementi della tradizione pittorica con elaborazioni digitali: dalla pittura alla foglia d’oro, dallo scanner al plotter, dall’elaborazione digitale
alla tridimensionalità offerta dal plexiglass e dalla masonite; il risultato è stupefacente, perché rivela il potere del mezzo tecnologico al
servizio della creatività contemporanea. Affascinata dai contenuti con radici universali ( i 4 elementi, la fusione degli opposti, il principio e
la fine, la mitologia e l’alchimia) Fosca, presenta una produzione legata agli archetipi e al colore che qui si manifestano in tutta la loro
essenza con Angels, Pelle, Pasifae e Magica Fragmenta. Con “ANGELS”, l’artista rappresenta i quattro elementi (acqua, aria, terra, fuoco)
quelli che per Empedocle, mescolandosi, formavano gli esseri androgini, perché in sé contengono gli opposti che nelle sue opere si
ricompongono e poi sfaldano vicendevolmente. Nella serie “PELLE”, scannerizza e cattura frammenti di pelle, per ricomporli in figure
anch’esse androgine , in cui gli archetipi carnali e riproduttivi dell’uomo e della donna si mescolano a frammenti realizzati in digitale.
E così i gialli, i blu, i neri ed i bianchi si alternano ai negativi fotografici, sino a confondersi con visi, mani, pube, seni, occhi, frammenti che
tendono verso l’unità ma, al contempo, la negano proprio nell’essere frammento, in dittici e polittici. Con “PASIFAE”, Fosca, entra nel mito,
evocando la leggenda greca della dea, con pigmenti puri e foglia d’oro, alternando la pittura alla fotografia, producendo ed elaborando
opere tridimensionali che catturano lo sguardo e che riflettono l’identità femminile, il potere del fuoco, della luce, del buio, della terra.
Archetipo e digitale, due esatti contraltari di una ricerca legata alla storia del mito, capacità di indagare i labirinti primordiali nei quali
fluttuano dèi ed eroine senza tempo, che affiorano da una matrice mitologica ed ancestrale, per rivelare poi, una umanità senza precedenti,
una identità frammentata e arbitraria. È dunque, questo, un viaggio nel tempo e nel mito che si conclude con MAGICA FRAGMENTA, una
magnifica installazione composta da 49 frammenti, dai quali affiora, nell’unità della composizione, una dea-donna e il suo minotauro. Corpo
-cosmico, corpo-erotico, corpo-digitale. Esistenza umana e divina.
La produzione di ASTOLFO FUNES, sono opere prettamente pittoriche (l’artista ha anche realizzato grandi installazioni in pvc), di medie e
grandi dimensioni risalenti al periodo dal 2008 al 2009, dai colori forti e caldi alle opere in cui il bianco è protagonista. La ricerca
concettuale di Funes, è legata all’attenzione al gesto, allo stato d’animo, alla circostanza. L’artista fa agire il cliché di una femminilità
costruita sui criteri del glamour e della moda con un linguaggio espressivo personale, affrontando in modo diretto i temi centrali della
cultura contemporanea come l’identità, la molteplicità, il corpo e la sessualità, mettendo in scena il rituale dell’essere e dell’apparire.
La pittoricità dell’intervento a volte spatolato, altre volte impresso con le mani, diventa palcoscenico di una teatralità senza evento, la
plasticità quasi scultorea dei corpi gioca e si alterna allo spazio che li circonda. in un gioco di pieni e vuoti, di corpo e anima, di apparente
staticità e di prorompente fisicità. Funes, rappresenta quello che vede, pone l’accento a più livelli di realtà, con l’intento di mettere a nudo
verità e artificio e prelevando dal quotidiano, come in un gioco di specchi, reale ed immaginario, fiestas ed angosce claustrofobiche.
Temporalità, spazialità, mondanità, sono elementi attorno ai quali l’essere umano costruisce il proprio sé. Sono tappe che si intraprendono
nella conoscenza di sé stessi, in un viaggio spesso insolito e senza una precisa meta, che va oltre la logica razionale ed è teso a modificare i
concetti o le nozioni di libertà, identità, salute, malattia, follia.

Sacquegna and produced by Primo Piano LivinGallery in the PROJECT ROOM’s platform; an exhibition held exclusively online in real time
24 / 24h until the end of the event. FUNES & FOSCA, two artists of reference of PPLG, presented in previous years with solo and group
exhibitions in galleries and outdoor. They are profoundly different for techniques and concepts expressive, but yet there is something that
binds them: the search for identity, the predisposition to fragment, the aspects related to women, the alchemy of colors, the variety, the
body and sexuality.
FOSCA (Marcella Fusco) is a pseudonym created by artist in conjunction with the creative cycle of ANGELS, as a time of rebirth. In the
etymological sense, Fosca comes from Fuscus-Dark, which represents her primordial character, deep and creative. She worked for many
year with traditional materials linked to painting, but from 2000 the artist has come to a summary exposition and exploration of
technological matter, setting up a rich set of materials and experiments. In this show online, we have four different cycles of artworks (from
2000 to 2013) that mix elements of traditional painting with digital transitions: from paper to canvas, from painting to gold leaf, from the
scanner to the plotter, from digital processing to three-dimensionality offered by plexiglass and masonite; the result is really amazing,
because it reveals her contemporary creativity. She is fascinated by the contents with universal roots (the 4 elements, the fusion of
opposites, the beginning and the end, the mythology and alchemy) and she has a production linked to the archetypes and the color here are
revealed in all their essence: Angels, Pelle, Pasiphae and Magic Fragmenta. With "ANGELS", the artist represents the four elements (water,
air, earth, fire) for those who Empedocle, mixing, forming androgynous beings, because in itself contain the opposites, and in her works are
recomposed and then break up each other. In the series "PELLE (Skin)", the artist scans and captures fragments of skin, recomposing them
in figures also androgynous, where the archetypes and reproductive male and female member are mixed with fragments created digitally.
And so, the colors yellows, blues, blacks and whites are alternate with photographic negatives, until confused with faces, hands, pubis,
breasts, eyes, fragments that tend toward unity but at the same time deny the right to be fragment, in diptychs and polyptychs.
Both series are digital works, made over forex. With "PASIPHAE" , Fosca, not only enters the myth evoking the Greek legend but operates
with calculations of matter, with pure pigments and gold leaf, alternating painting to photography, producing and processing threedimensional works that stand out and that reflect the female identity, the power of fire, the light, the darkness, the earth. Archetype and
digital; two exact face of research linked to the history of the myth, the ability to investigate the labyrinths where primeval float gods and
heroines timeless, that emerge from an array mythological and ancestral, then to reveal a humanity unprecedented identity fragmented and
arbitrary. It is, therefore, this, time travel and myth culminating MAGIC FRAGMENTA, a magnificent installation consisting of 49 fragments,
in which we see in the entire composition, the light of creation of a goddess-woman and her minotaur. Body-Cosmic , body-erotic, bodydigital. Human and divine existence.
The production by ASTOLFO FUNES, are purely pictorial works (the artist has also created large installations on PVC), with medium and
large properties dating back to the most interesting part of his artistic career from 2008 to today. Tableau by strong and hot colors in which
white color is the protagonist. The conceptual research by Funes, is linked to femininity but not limited to her: the attention to gesture, the
mood, the occasion, become the leitmotif of his personal interpretation of beauty, pleasure and sin, between reality and artifice. The artist
makes us act the cliché of femininity, built on the criteria of glamor and fashion with a personal expressive language, addressing directly the
central themes of contemporary culture, the identity, the variety, the body and sexuality, mixing glamor to the history of painting, staging
the ritual of human being. The pictorial intervention sometimes spatula, sometimes imprinted with your hands, becomes a stage for a
drama without event, the almost sculptural plasticity of the bodies etched plays and alternates to the empty space that surrounds them, in
a game of full and empty, of body and soul, of apparently static and irrepressible physicality. Funes, paints what he see, focuses on multiple
levels of reality, with the intent to expose truth and artifice and withdrawing from everyday life, as in a mirror, real and imaginary, fiestas
and claustrophobic anxieties. Temporality, spatiality, worldliness, are elements around which the human being builds own self. These are
stages that are undertaken in self-knowledge, a journey often unusual and without a precise goal, which is beyond rational logic and is
seeking to modify the concepts or concepts of freedom, identity, health, disease, madness.
