From May 1998 to present: Permanent Researcher at the Italian Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), Rome,
(Italy), Department of National Accounts and Economic Analysis, and since 2003 she is the Head of the
Research Office responsible for the estimates of Gross Fixed Capital Formation, Capital Stock and Total
Factor Productivity.

- Productivity analysis and related measurement issues, (correctness test of productivity measures, analysis
of their economic foundations and their empirical implementation); growth differentials and economic
convergence at the regional and international level.
- New economy and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which entails the analysis of the
role played by ICT in stimulating productivity gains, unemployment declines and inflation moderation in
Europe.

- Analysis of firms investment behaviour and estimation of gross fixed capital formation both at the national
and at the regional level (NUTS2 level) on the basis of ESA95; set-up of a new system of evaluation of
investments both at the national and at the regional level; comparative analysis of national and regional
economic accounts.

Current Research Projects
From January 2006 to January 2007: Expert economist in the context of the project “Evaluation Models
and Tools for Assessment of Innovation and Sustainable Development at the EU level”, financed by the
European Commission – DG Information Society. The project aims at:
•
identifying models and tools that could satisfy the increasing requirements for evidence based
impact assessment and evaluation of policies and programmes;
•
assessing their availability and capabilities for quantitative evaluation of the impact of IST research
and investment in terms of growth, competitiveness, jobs and social inclusion;
•
identifying the needs for data and for appropriate systems of indicators and suggest necessary
improvements.
College of Europe Research Team co-ordinated by Prof. P.Guerrieri.
From September 2004 to present: Senior economist in the context of the EU KLEMS research project
financed by the Sixth Framework Programme that aims to create a productivity database broken down by
industry for the EU Member States for 1970 onwards, and to conduct a number of Policy Relevant Research
projects using the database produced. The EU KLEMS Productivity Database will include quantities and
prices of output, capital (K), labour (L), energy (E), material (M) and services (S) inputs. It will provide
measures on economic growth, productivity, employment creation, capital formation and technological
change
From July 2004 to present: ICT diffusion across Italian SMEs. Luiss Lab on European Economics Research
project coordinated by Prof. S.Manzocchi.
From September 2003 to September 2005: Internationalisation strategies of the Italian firms during the
‘90s. CESPI Project coordinated by Prof. P.Guerrieri.
From September 2002 to September 2004: Comparative analysis of ICT diffusion in Europe in the context
of SETI project (sustainable growth, employment creation and technological integration in the European
knowledge-based economy) on the impact of technological globalisation, the development and the diffusion
of ICT and the rise of business services on national patterns of specialisation. Italian Research Team coordinated by Prof. P.Guerrieri.
From September 2001 to December 2003: Productivity analysis and related measurement issues in the
context of the ISTAT-Banca d’Italia Research Group on the Analysis and the Estimate of Total Factor
Productivity.
Previous Positions and Research Activity
From September 2000 to September 2001: Analysis and implementation of a computational algorithm for
capital stock estimation in the context of the ISTAT Research Group on Capital Stock measurement.
From September 1999 to September 2000: Set up of a new method of estimation of regional gross fixed
capital formation in the context of the ISTAT Research Group for the Development of Territorial Analysis in
National Accounting.
From June 1999 to June 2000: Econometric analysis of the effects of the implementation of ESA95 on
Italian quarterly economic accounts in the context of the ISTAT Research Group for the Revision of
Quarterly Economic Accounts on the basis of ESA95.
From June 1998 to June 2000: Member of the Canberra Group on Capital Stock Statistics, supervised by
UN and OECD. Main tasks: provide an accessible guide (handbook) to capital stock and depreciation
measurement for statistical offices or other relevant government agencies and ministries and improve
international harmonization of capital stock statistics.

From September 1997 to April 1998: Researcher at the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT),
Rome, Department of National Accounts and Economic Analysis. Main tasks and research fields: ISTAT
Project “Implementation of the 1995 European System of National Accounts”. Project entails: adoption of
ESA95 guidelines for the estimation of gross fixed capital formation and comparative analysis of ESA79 and
ESA95 estimates.
