Le Forze dell’Ordine olandesi hanno escogitato un
metodo piuttosto efficace per intercettare i droni che,
volando sopra aeroporti e centri abitati, potrebbero
costituire problemi alla sicurezza. Con l’aiuto di una
società privata, infatti, la Polizia sta addestrando delle
aquile al fine di riconoscere un drone nel cielo, arpionarlo al volo e depositarlo in un luogo sicuro. La
soluzione adottata appare ottimale sia in termini di
efficienza, che di costi. Per evitare di ferire gli intelligenti rapaci, si sta studiando anche un sistema che
protegga meglio gli artigli dalle eliche al momento
dell’aggancio.

L’acqua che…fa restare di sasso!
The Petrifying Well è un pozzo che ha la forma di un
grande teschio e per questo gli abitanti di Knaresborough,
nel North Yorkshire, credevano fosse un posto maledetto.
Il luogo, però, ha un'altra particolarità: in breve tempo
qualsiasi cosa venga a contatto con l'acqua, diventa di
pietra. Ciò è possibile grazie all'alto contenuto di minerali,
tra cui la calcite, che colando sugli oggetti crea una sorta di
rivestimento, un guscio duro di minerali. Lo spettacolo che
si presenta ai turisti è molto suggestivo grazie alla presenza
di cappellini, peluche, bambole e sonagli, tutti pietrificati,
lasciati dai visitatori.

The Petrifying Well is a well in the shape of a big skull and
because of this the people of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire,
believed it was a cursed place. The location, however, has
another odd feature: whatever comes in to contact with the
water turns to stone in a short time. This happens due to the
high content of minerals including calcite, that by dripping on
to objects create a kind of coating, a hard shell made of minerals. The sight seen by visiting tourists is very impressive due to
the presence of hats, teddies, dolls and rattles, left by visitors,
all turned to stone.
The Dutch law enforcement agencies have come up with
a rather effective method to intercept drones, which when
flying over airports and residential areas could pose security
problems. With the help of a private company police is training eagles in order to recognise drones in the sky, harpoon
them in flight and deposit them in a safe place. The adopted
solution seems optimal both in terms of efficiency and costs.
To avoid injuring these intelligent birds of prey, studies are
also being carried out to create a system which better protects
their claws from the propellers at the time of engagement.

dove si può nuotare con delfini e squali balena

ondolati da un’amaca, sulla spiaggia di Cozumel. Abbandonati a un relax che si sogna tutto l’anno, fra palme, sabbia
bianca, brezza marina. Nomi invitanti come punta Morena
o punta Chiqueros, playa Bonita o Chen Río. Il Messico è famoso per le sue incredibili spiagge, ma Cozumel ha una sabbia
bianca e fine che non teme confronti. Insieme a quel magico
colore turchese del mare. Non solo. Anche sott’acqua è uno
spettacolo straordinario. Ci sono 50 punti di immersione con
una visibilità che supera i 60 metri. E poi è possibile realizzare il sogno di tanti bambini, oltre che di moltissimi adulti:

Lunga appena quarantadue chilometri e larga otto, Holbox

facile vedere squali balena, razze e delfini, ma anche aragoste,
polipi, aquile di mare e tartarughe marine, oltre ovviamente
a numerose altre specie. La Laguna Yalahau, anch’essa da non
perdere, separa poi l’isola dalla terra ferma e ospita oltre 150
specie di uccelli, rettili e pesci.
Holbox è perfetta per gli amanti della natura e della tranquillità. E’ ideale anche per gli amanti del birdwatching: nell’Isla

L’Isla, come la chiamano affettuosamente i
messicani, ha acqua trasparente, calda, ricca di
vita marina. Il Parque Marino El Garrafón è il
posto ideale per fare belle nuotate, ma anche
per praticare snorkeling, nuotare con i delfini,
avventurarsi con il kayak, dedicarsi alle immersioni e perfino fare trekking su sentieri di
montagna. Nella parte più meridionale dell’Isla
svetta un moderno faro da cui si può osservare
un piccolo tempio maya dedicato a Ixchel, dea
della fertilità. Lo utilizzavano i Maya quando
per guidare la navigazione quando si dirigevano
lontano, verso Cozumel.

n Oscar vinto e tre candidature. Non male ad appena 26 anni. Jennifer Lawrence è la nuova icona del
cinema mondiale. Soprattutto di quello declinato al
femminile. Ha detto di lei Isabella Rossellini: «Ha un
grande talento, ma soprattutto ha ridefinito il concetto di
femminilità moderna, un po’ come aveva fatto mia madre
Ingrid Bergman». Di più. Un affermato critico statunitense, Peter Travers di Rolling Stone, ha scritto che la
Lawrence «è una specie di miracolo. Lei è maleducata,
sporca, divertente, sboccata, sciatta, sexy, vibrante e vulnerabile, a volte tutto questo insieme nella stessa scena,
anche nello stesso respiro. Lei si accende sullo schermo».

E’ nata nel Kentucky, con la passione del teatro e a 14
anni – non è chiarissimo se con il consenso dei genitori o
in totale autonomia – raggiunse New York. Di certo, ha
sempre avuto un carattere determinato ed ecco perché
il ruolo che l’ha consacrata, la ragazza del film Hunger
Games, sembrava davvero creato per lei. «Fu una grande
avventura, quel film – ha sempre detto – anche dal punto
di vista fisico». Allenamenti massacranti: alla base una
formazione acrobatica e poi tiro con l’arco, arrampicata su alberi e rocce, combattimento, corsa, parkour,
pilates, yoga. Ma il film incassò 152,5 milioni di dollari
in tre giorni. Un record. E cominciò anche la crescita
del suo portafogli personale. Nel 2014, secondo la rivista
Forbes, Jennifer è stata la seconda attrice più pagata di
Hollywood, dietro Sandra Bullock, con un guadagno di

Le ultime sue relazioni, del resto, non sono finite nel
migliore dei modi. La star ha frequentato il collega di
X-Men Nicholas Hoult per tre anni, fino all’agosto 2014.
Poi il gossip ha raccontato del suo avvicinamento a Chris
Martin, reduce dal divorzio con la Paltrow. La relazione,
mai confermata, si sarebbe conclusa lo scorso luglio.
Ma amareggiata dalla solitudine, Jennifer pensa al matrimonio: «Non vedo l’ora di sposarmi. Vorrei incontrare
una persona che vuole trascorrere il resto della vita con

n Oscar and three nominations. Not bad for a 26 year
old. Jennifer Lawrence is the new world cinema icon.
Especially the female one. Isabella Rossellini said about
her: «She has a great talent, but she has also redefined the
concept of modern femininity, a bit like my mother, Ingrid
Bergman, did». Maybe more. A famous US critic, Peter
Travers of Rolling Stone, wrote that Lawrence «is a kind
of miracle. She is rude, dirty, funny, foul-mouthed, sloppy,
sexy, vibrant and vulnerable, sometimes all together in
the same scene, even in the same breath. She lights up the
screen».
Born in Kentucky, with a passion for theater and at the
age of 14 - it is not clear whether with the consent of her
parents or in total autonomy – she reached New York.
She certainly always had a certain character and that’s
why the role that she landed, that of the girl in the film
Hunger Games, really seemed to be made for her. «That
movie was a great adventure - she has always said - even
from a physical point of view». Grueling workouts: as well
as an acrobatic training there was archery, climbing trees
and rocks, fighting, running, parkour, pilates and yoga.
The film grossed 152.5 million dollars in just three days. A
record. With this her personal portfolio began to expand.
In 2014, according to Forbes magazine, Jennifer was the
second highest-paid actress in Hollywood, after Sandra
Bullock, with an earning of 34 million dollars. In 2015 she
became, again according to Forbes, the richest actress of the
year, pocketing 52 million dollars.
All is well, then? All perfect? Not exactly. «No one asks me
out», she revealed, «Every Saturday night I am alone, men
are so strict with me». And more: «I can guess why they
do it, I am aware that they try to establish dominance, but
they hurt my feelings. I’m just a girl who wants you to be
kind to her».
Her latest relationships, after all, did not end well. The
star was with her X-Men colleague, Nicholas Hoult, for
three years until August 2014. Then gossip told of her
friendship with Chris Martin, fresh from a divorce with
Paltrow. The relationship, never confirmed, is said to have
ended in July.
However bitter with solitude, Jennifer still thinks of marriage: «I can’t wait to get married. I would like to meet the
person who wants to spend the rest of his life with me, who
wants to be the father of my children». But she also added,
«I’m not relying on it too much».

cona della musica di tutti i tempi, frontman dei Rolling Stones,
padrone di ogni eccesso, sicuramente di sé stesso, è Mick Jagger,
classe '43. Accanto a lui, nel nuovo progetto televisivo prodotto HBO suo figlio James, la sua goccia d'acqua. James è uno dei
sette Jagger jr, il terzo figlio avuto dalla seconda moglie, la modella
statunitense Jerry Hall. James ha trent’anni, le labbra carnose del
padre e l’eleganza della madre. Da entrambi i genitori ha ereditato
una ingente dose di sex appeal. Prima di vederlo indossare i panni
di Kip Stevens, in Vinyl, il giovane Jagger ha sperimentato davvero la
musica, con la band Turbogeist, ma il suo talento sembra essere un
altro, la recitazione. D’altronde avere come termine di paragone un
padre come Mick Jagger non deve essere certo facile.
Ma, per lavorare al personaggio interpretato nella serie Vinyl, James ha di sicuro avuto tanti spunti a cui attingere: Kip Stevens,
infatti, è il leader di un gruppo proto-punk, i Nasty Bits. Per
tutti gli appassionati immediato è il gioco di rimandi: si tratta
degli Stooges? O dei New York Dolls? O dei Ramones? Quanto
Mick c'è nel personaggio interpretato da James? Ed è questo
continuo confondersi tra realtà e finzione, tra docu-fiction e
fiction pura, che rende tanto attraente la serie tv che lo vede
protagonista. Eventi e personaggi sono infatti estremamente realistici e i riferimenti ai protagonisti dell'epoca sono tantissimi:
nella prima puntata si parla di un contratto per i Led Zeppelin,
incontriamo Robert Plant e si fa riferimento a un certo Andy
Warhol. Ci sembra di scorgere Nico, ma non ha la frangetta,
non ne siamo sicuri…
Vinyl è un viaggio nel fervore musicale della New York anni '70,
lì dove la sperimentazione artistica, sessuale e delle droghe si
fondevano sotto un'unica stella: il Rock. Ed è sotto quella stessa
stella che nel 1985 nasceva James e sotto quella stessa stella, oggi,
i talenti di padre e figlio si incontrano. Mentre dal firmamento
del Rock, da Marte forse o dalla sua Black Star, si affaccia anche
David Bowie: nella sesta puntata ci viene regalato un commovente cameo del dio del glam rock, «David era un amico molto
caro (...) e questa serie è anche un modo positivo per ricordare e
onorare la sua vita e il suo lavoro» dichiara Mick Jagger.

Two generations compared in the name of rock:
Father and son together in the new tv series Vinyl, to tell about
the world of music in New York in the 70’s

ick Jagger, all time icon of music, Rolling
Stones Frontman, master of all excess,
master of himself, class of 43. At his side,
in the new HBO produced tv project, there is
his son, James, his mirror image. James is one
of 7juniorJaggers, the third son from his second
wife, the American model Jerry hall.
James is thirty years old, he has his father’s
voluptuous lips and mother’s elegance. From
both parents he has inherited a great deal of
sex appeal.
Before wearing the shoes of Kip Stevens, in
Vinyl, the young Jagger really experimented
with music with the group Turbogeist, but his
talent seems to lay elsewhere, in acting. Besides, having a father like Mick Jagger as a
comparison cannot be at all easy.
But, to work on the character played in the
series Vinyl, James certainly has had many
points to draw from: Kip is in fact the leader
of a new proto-punk group, The NastyBits.
To all fans the referenceplay is obvious, is it
the Stooges? Or the New York Dolls? Or the
Ramones? How much of Mick is interpreted
in James’s character? It is the continuous confusion between reality and fiction, betweendocu-fiction and pure fiction which makes the tv
series, in which he is the main character, very
interesting. Events and characters are indeed
extremely real and the references to the protagonists of the time are many: in the first episode
there is talk of a contract for Led Zeppelin, we
meet Robert Plant and there is a reference to a
certain Andy Warhol.
Vinyl is a journey through the music heat in
New York in the seventies, there where the artistic, sexual and drugs experimentation united
under one star: Rock. It is under the same star
in 1985 that James was born, and under the
same star today the talents of father and son
meet. Whilst from the firmament of the Rock,
from Mars perhaps or from his Black Star,
David Bowie is also seen: in the sixth episode
we are given a moving cameo the glam rock
god, «David was a very dear friend ( ... ) and
this series is also a positive way to remember
and honor his life and his work», has declared
Mick Jagger.

vadis. Solecismi? No, solo
alcuni dei titoli dei grandi
successi cinematografici del
comico barese. Luca Medici,
in arte Checco Zalone, nasce
nella provincia pugliese, si laurea come tanti meridionali
in Giurisprudenza e poi, come tanti meridionali, emigra al
Nord, a Milano. Nel 2009 esce il suo primo film Cado dalle
nubi, che racconta il resto della storia: il sogno delle luci della

ribalta, la casualità di un incontro, un provino, il pubblico
che impazzisce. Ma il successo non è solo quello raccontato
nella finzione scenica: il film incassa quattordici milioni di
euro. Così Checco Zalone smette di essere uno dei tanti
comici del palcoscenico di Zelig e diventa un fenomeno da
botteghino.
Il suo talento comico non lascia scampo alla critica che inizia
ad interrogarsi: ma questo Zalone perché piace tanto? Perché
piace a tutti? Questo Zalone, si chiede la critica, quo va?
Nel 2011 è la volta di Che bella giornata e gli incassi arrivano a
43 milioni e 400 mila euro: battuti la commovente e poetica
La vita è bella di Roberto Benigni e il colossal Titanic.
2013, Sole a Catinelle, 51 milioni di euro e 8 milioni e mezzo
di spettatori. Siamo così arrivati al 2016: quarta pellicola
firmata Medici-Nunziante, Checco Zalone batte se stesso ancora una volta e supera i 65 milioni di euro incassati in Italia
unicamente da Avatar.
Checco Zalone però non è il nuovo Boldi-De Sica, nessun
parallelismo con i cinepanettoni, per lui si smuove la critica
più raffinata tanto che a certi eccessi Zalone risponde «Mi
sento l’unghia dei grandi a cui mi hanno accostato. Non lo
dico per fare l’umile, ma perché non li conosco. Anzi, faccio
un appello per una maggior sobrietà nelle manifestazioni
mondane del mondo del cinema, perché se no io continuo a
fare delle figuracce: l’ultima volta non ho riconosciuto Bellocchio e ho parlato per un’ora con Garrone pensando che
fosse Stefano Accorsi». Nove milioni di italiani affollano le
sale: critici seriosi, cinefili preparatissimi, destra, sinistra,
centro, impiegati pubblici, dirigenti privati, polentoni, terroni. Checco Zalone unisce tutti nel nome del comico. Tutti lo
hanno visto, tutti ne parlano. Ma soprattutto tutti hanno riso
e tutti, o quasi, lo ammettono. Lo scrittore Nicola Lagioia,
intellettuale sapiente e conterraneo dello stesso Zalone, fa
un'analisi acuta, sottilmente sferzante, riconosce i meriti e
non fa sconto ai limiti «Sui social, insieme col successo,
sono arrivate le solite risse un pò inutili tra i fan di Zalone
e chi si richiama a Bertold Brecht per denigrarlo - scrive
Lagioia - Sventurato il paese che deve fare il gioco della torre
tra intrattenimento e autorialità».

ado dalle nubi (Falling from Nebula), instead of falling
from the clouds, Sole a catinelle (Sun in Buckets) instead
of raining cats and dogs, and Quo vado? instead of Quo
Vadis. Solecisms? No, they are some of the titles of big movie
successes for the comic from Bari which use a very clever and
funny play on words in the Italian language. Luca Medici,
aka Checco Zalone, was born in the province of Puglia, he,
like many southerners, graduated in Law and, as many southerners, emigrated to the North, to Milan. In 2009 he released
his first film Cado dalle nubi, which tells the rest of the story:
dreaming of the limelight, a random meeting, an audition,
the audience that goes wild. Yet success was not only part of
the movie’s fiction: the film actually made fourteen million
euro. And so Checco Zalone stopped just being one of the many
Zelig stage comedians and became a box office phenomenon.
His comic talent is not exempt from critics whom begin to ask:
why is this Zalone guy liked so much? Why does everyone like
him? This Zalone, ask critics, quo vadis?
In 2011 it was the turn of Che bella giornata (What a
beautiful day) and the box office takings reached 43 million
400 thousand euro: beating the touching and poetic Life is
Beautiful by Roberto Benigni, and the colossal Titanic. 2013,
Sole a Catinelle (Sun in buckets), 51 million euros and 8 and
a half million spectators. So we come to 2016: a fourth film
signed Medici-Nunziante, Checco Zalone beats his records
again and beats 65 million Euros only managed by Avatar in
Italy. However, Checco Zalone, is not a new Boldi-De Sica,
he has no parallels with trash comedy, he manages to catch the
finest critics, and to excessive praise Zalone responds «I feel
I am the little finger of the great who they have compared

me to. I say this not to be humble, but because I don’t know who they are.
Actually, I want to appeal for greater simplicity in the mundane events of the
world of film, because otherwise I will continue to be a fool: last time I did
not recognise Bellocchio and I talked for an hour with Garrone thinking it
was Stefano Accorsi». Nine million Italians flock to the cinema: serious critics, knowledgeable cinema goers, right, left, center, public employees, private
executives, northerners, southerners. Checco Zalone unites all in the name
of comedy. All have seen it, everybody talks about it. But above all everyone
laughed, and all, or nearly all, admit to it. The writer Nicola Lagioia, intellectual man and from the same place as Zalone, makes a sharp analysis, subtly
harsh, recognising merits and not discounting limits «On social networks,
along with success, the usual useless fights have started between Zalone fans
and those who refer to Bertold Brecht to denigrate him - he writes - Hapless
is the country that has to play the tower game between entertainment and
authorship» .

gara per averli. Stelle anche delle classifiche: quelle degli
sportivi più pagati al mondo. Vite perfette, patinate, costantemente al centro dell’attenzione dei media e dei numerosissimi
fan. Ma non sempre è oro tutto ciò che luccica e le difficoltà,
per arrivare fin qui, non sono di certo mancate.
LeBron James nasce ad Akron, una piccola cittadina dell’Ohio,
dalla sedicenne Gloria e da padre sconosciuto. Trascorre la sua
infanzia in fortissime ristrettezze economiche, inseguendo
un destino che per lui sembrava già scritto. Poi l’incontro con
l’uomo che gli ha cambiato la vita, il suo allenatore di football,
che lo accoglie in casa, gli infonde una disciplina rigida egli fa
conoscere il basket, lo sport che lo ha salvato. James ce l’ha
fatta, ma non per questo ha dimenticato le sue radici: nel 2014,
dopo quattro gloriose stagioni con i Miami Heat, ha deciso

Come tutti i più grandi campioni della
Nba, anche James e Bryant hanno dei soprannomi. LeBron ne ha addirittura due:
The ChosenOne, il prescelto e, più recentemente,King. Kobe, che tra l’altro prende
il nome proprio dal pregiatissimo manzo,
invece, ha deciso di auto-attribuirselo: «Il
Black Mamba è un cobra che ha il 99% di
possibilità di ucciderti. E’ questa la precisione con cui voglio giocare a pallacanestro».
Bryant, invece, ha avuto un’infanzia diversa: figlio d’arte, vive
in Italia fino all'età di 13 anni, seguendo il padre che milita
nel campionato italiano. Ancora adolescente torna negli Stati
Uniti per iscriversi alla high school e, dopo soli due anni, è
già sul campo con indosso la maglia dei Lakers. Una scalata al
successo repentina che, però, si arresta bruscamente nel 2003,
quando, sposato e con una figlia appena nata, viene accusato
di stupro. Nonostante la vicenda si sia conclusa con il ritiro
delle accuse, questo evento resta una macchia indelebile nella
sua carriera, il rovescio della medaglia di una popolarità veloce
e travolgente. Due storie diverse, quelle di Kobe e LeBron,
ma accomunate dallo stesso destino. I loro duelli sul campo
hanno fatto scuola, ma adesso è tempo di deporre le armi e di
affrontare quella che, con l’annuncio del ritiro di Bryant, questa sarà la loro ultima impresa insieme: essere i primi uomini a
conquistare, dopo Pechino e Londra, il terzo oro consecutivo
alle Olimpiadi di Rio. Dopo aver fatto la storia, i due sono

hey are the stars of the NBA, of the American National Team, as well as of social networks and sponsors, which literally fight to get them. They are also stars of the leagues:
those of the highest paid sportsmen in the world. Perfect and glossy lives, constantly the
focus of media attention and of many fans. But all that glitters is not gold and there have
certainly been difficulties to get here. LeBron James was born in Akron, a small town in
Ohio, by the sixteen year old Gloria and an unknown father. He spent his childhood in a
very difficult financial situation, chasing a destiny that seemed already written for him.
Then came an encounter with the man who changed his life, his football coach, who took
him in, gave him a strict discipline and introduced him to basketball, the sport that saved
him. James has made it, but this has not made him forget his roots: in 2014, after four glorious seasons with Miami Heat, he decided go back and play where it all began, in Ohio,
for the Cavaliers. Bryant, on the other hand, had a different childhood: born into sport,
he lived in Italy until the age of 13, following his father who played in the Italian league.
Still a teenager he returns to the US to enroll in high school and after only two years is
already on the court wearing the Lakers shirt. A sudden rise to fame that stops abruptly
in 2003, when, married with a newborn daughter, he is accused of rape. Although the case
ended with the withdrawal of charges, this event remains an indelible stain in his career,
the flip side of a fast and overwhelming popularity. Kobe’s and LeBron’s are two different
stories, but united by the same fate. Their duels on the court have become well known, but
now it is time to lay down their arms and to face that, following the announcement of the
withdrawal of Bryant, this will be their last venture together: to be the first men to gain,
after Beijing and London, the third consecutive gold at the Rio Olympics. After entering
history, the two are ready to become legends.

n the early 60’s it was defined as “the car designed by the wind” and
represented the best from the famous Milanese automobile house, now in
Turin. Its slogan stemmed from its low coefficient aerodynamics, the result
of studies done in the wind tunnel of the Turin Polytechnic. Pride, given
by the knowledge they produced not only innovative car, but also a greatly
popular one. Supplied to the Armed Forces, because of its speed and its
incredible road handling, the Giulia was the star of numerous cult detective
films from the 70s, which contributed to making it a true icon of that era. It
is no coincidence as such that Alfa have focused on a car with a glorious past
to resell the brand on the international market, especially the American one.
A dream that due to the economic crisis has met many obstacles, but it now
seems to set to become reality, although the objectives are very ambitious: to
challenge giants like Audi, BMW and Mercedes and reach by 2018 a total
of 400 thousand units sold per year. The car seems to have what it takes to
make it: an Italian design, advanced engine and perfect weight distribution
are just some of its features.
So it is innovation and uniqueness, as also pointed out by the CEO of the
Fca Sergio Marchionne during the presentation held at the Alfa Romeo
Museum in Arese last June: «The new Alfa Romeo is different from other
cars, both because of the way it was created, through a highly trained technical and innovative team, and because it has a pure and distinctive character
that cannot be confused with other brands».
Alfa fans throughout the world, the wait is finally over: Giulia is back.

ll’inizio degli anni ’60 era definita “l’auto disegnata dal vento”
e rappresentava il fiore all’occhiello della storica casa automobilista milanese di nascita, torinese di adozione. Lo slogan
derivava dal suo bassissimo coefficiente di penetrazione aerodinamica, frutto degli studi nella galleria del vento del Politecnico
di Torino. L’orgoglio, invece, dalla consapevolezza di aver prodotto una macchina non solo innovativa, ma anche di grandissimo
successo popolare. In dotazione alle Forze armate, grazie alla sua
velocità e alla sua incredibile tenuta di strada, la Giulia è stata
protagonista di numerosi film cult polizieschi degli anni 70, che
hanno contribuito a farla diventare una vera e propria icona della
sua epoca. Non è un caso, quindi, che i vertici dell’Alfa abbiano
puntato su un’auto dal passato glorioso per rilanciare il brand
sul mercato internazionale, in particolare quello americano. Un
sogno che, a causa della crisi economica, ha incontrato non pochi

ostacoli, ma che ora sembra concretizzarsi, nonostante gli obiettivi siano davvero ambiziosi: sfidare giganti come Audi, BMW e
Mercedes e arrivare, entro il 2018, a 400 mila unità annue vendute. La vettura sembra avere le carte in regole per farcela: design
tutto italiano, motore all’avanguardia, perfetta distribuzione dei
pesi sono solo alcune delle sue caratteristiche. Innovazione e
unicità, dunque, come sottolineato anche dall’ Ad di Fca Sergio
Marchionne, durante la presentazione-evento tenutasi al Museo
Alfa Romeo di Arese lo scorso giugno: «La nuova Alfa Romeo
è diversa dalle altre auto, sia per il percorso che ha portato alla
sua creazione, attraverso un team di tecnici preparatissimi e
innovativi, sia perché ha un carattere puro e distintivo che non si
può confondere con altri marchi».
Alfisti di tutto il mondo, l'attesa è finalmente finita: Giulia è

jacquard con micro pattern e nylon, popeline abbinato all’organza. Via ogni limite, confine, definizione: questo è quello che ci
permette di fare un abito genderless. Così, pellicce, bluse in seta
con rouches e spille, giacche doppiopetto, gonne-pantalone e

camicie-tuniche diventano capi per lui e per lei, rispondendo alla
esigenza di rendere donne e uomini tutti uguali, non solo dietro
la scrivania e nelle incombenze familiari, ma anche davanti alle
ante dell’armadio. Quale scusa migliore per aggiungere vestiti ad
altri vestiti? Possiamo farlo tutte ma, sia chiaro, non basta indossare jeans boyfriend e una felpa oversize. Dobbiamo assomigliare
a un gentleman dalla testa ai piedi. Quindi: camicia bianca con
pantalone palazzo dalla vita altissima, gilet, cravatta, cappotto
lungo o trench, stringata e Borsalino. Poi il bianco&nero, i toni
del grigio, il verde bottiglia, il sabbia, il principe di Galles, quadri
in lungo e in largo e l’aria da dandy chic. Volevamo la parità dei
sessi? Nella moda (almeno) l’abbiamo ottenuta.

Designers have included in their own designs mannish looking ladies
and gentlemen looking very girlish. #genderless or #agender are the
hashtags that entice most male fashionistas, wearing blouses with flowers, and female fashionistas, wearing college jackets and ripped jeans.
What’s going on? In short, if Cara Delevingne walks the red carpet in
a man’s suit and the Brangelina couple are paparazzied at the BAFTA
with identical tuxedos, if the Selfridges store in London has transformed three floors of the Oxford Street store in “neutral” shopping areas
and the online luxury shopping site thecorner.com has created a sales
area called “no Gender”, then it means that this is not just a passing
trend. It is a way of being part of the world and appearing to others
that says today’s society is changing profoundly.
But what is this agender style like? Large volumes, minimalist tailoring lines and geometric curves. Stealing from the world of uniforms
and sportswear, the proposed fabrics are denim, jacquard with micro
patterns and nylon, poplin matched to organza. No limits, boundaries,
definitions: this is the rule for genderless clothes. So, furs, silk blouses
with ruffles and pins, double-breasted jackets, skirts-pants and tunicshirts become garments for him and her, responding to the need to make
all women and men equal, not only at a desk or in family tasks, but also
in front of wardrobe doors.
What better excuse to add clothes to other clothes? We can all do it, but
bear in mind, it’s not just about wearing boy jeans and an oversized
sweatshirt. We must look like a gentleman from head to toe. So: a white
shirt with very high waist palazzo pants, waistcoat, tie, long coat or

ercorrendo le strade di Cuba,
sull’asfalto circondato da canne da
zucchero, potreste trovarvi improvvisamente immersi nel passato di un
sogno coloniale. Vicoli lastricati di pietre
di fiume, facciate colorate sotto tetti di
argilla rossa, cancelli e colonne adornati
di fiori, e cavalli che trainano carrozze,
scalpitando tra rintocchi di campane.
È l’atmosfera sospesa e irreale che si

respira a Trinidad, conosciuta come la
città museo proprio in virtù della sua
bellezza senza tempo. Tutto qui si è
conservato intatto, come in un quadro
del 1500. Chiese e palazzi di architettura coloniale circondano le piazze del
centro storico, animate di luce e canti,
di abitanti seduti davanti al portone tra
cesti odorosi di manghi e banane. Dalla
splendida Plaza Mayor, sulla quale svetta

The Authentic Cuba of the pueblo
On the 25th of March history gives Cuba
and the Rolling Stones a date to remember. A free concert and first live exhibition
from Mick Jagger’s legendary band, never
before held in Cuba. The chosen location is
the Ciudad Deportiva de la Habana. «We
have played in many special places over
the course of our career - said Jagger - but
this concert in Havana will be a milestone
for us and we hope it will be the same for
our Cuban friends». The concert, part of
the Latin America Ole Tour, is organized
and funded with a charitable intent: to
donate instruments to local musicians
with thanks to the support from the Latin
Grammy Cultural Foundation. S
Cayo Santa Maria is a
small paradise just a
step from the mainland

surrounded by sugar canes,
you may find yourself suddenly
immersed in the past of a colonial
dream. Streets cobbled with river
rocks, coloured facades with red
clay roofs, gates and columns
adorned with flowers, and horses
pulling carriages, between the tolling of bells. This is the suspended
and unreal atmosphere you can
breathe in Trinidad, known as the
museum city because of its timeless
beauty. Everything here has been
preserved intact, as in a painting
from 1500. Churches and colonial
architecture buildings surround
the squares of the old town,
animated by lights and songs,
by people sitting at their front
door between fragrant baskets of
mangoes and bananas. From the
beautiful Plaza Mayor, on which
stands the Tower of the Church
of San Francisco de Asis, you can
admire the breathtaking view of
the Sierra Escambray mountains,
which surround it like a corolla. Or you can visit one of the
museums that fill the small town,
from the Romantic Museum to the
Histórico Municipal Museum, or
still you can sit in the shade of a
palm tree sipping Chanchara from
a coconut, the traditional drink of

road that leads to the Hermit of
Our Lady of Candelaria, a hospital of the eighteenth century now

L’atleta disabile italiano è in tour nei mari di tutto il mondo
per portare avanti la sua impresa: richiamare l’attenzione sul
universo delle disabilità e dimostrare che le barriere
e i confini possono e devono essere superati, sempre.
The Italian disabled athlete is on tour in the world’s seas
to carry out his challenge: draw attention to the world of
disability and demonstrate that the barriers and the
boundaries can, and must, be overcome, always.
C
orrenti, squali, banchi di meduse.
E poi la stanchezza, quella che lo
assalirà dopo ore ed ore di nuoto
in mezzo all’oceano. Salvatore Cimmino
nuoterà da L’Avana, la capitale di Cuba,
a Key West, in Florida, 166 chilometri
d’acqua, una sessantina di ore senza
sosta durante le quali non riposerà, non
mangerà e reintegrerà soltanto i sali
minerali. E non monterà alcuna protesi
per rimpiazzare la gamba che gli manca,
quella che per un osteosarcoma – un
tumore che nasce nelle cellule delle
ossa - gli venne amputata all’altezza del
femore quando aveva 15 anni. Ora ne ha
51 e si allena con la forza e l’impegno
di un ragazzino: almeno 20 chilometri
di nuoto al giorno in due sedute, una al
mattino e l’altra al pomeriggio. Il suo scopo è sensibilizzare opinione pubblica e
istituzioni sul tema della disabilità: “Spero
che la mia impresa - dice - suscitando
curiosità, riesca a focalizzare l’attenzione
sul mondo della disabilità e sulle difficoltà
che le persone disabili vivono quotidianamente”. Per questa traversata, fra gli altri
patrocinii, c’è anche quello delle Nazioni
Unite. Anche perché nel mondo, per
avere un’idea, ci sono oltre 750 milioni di
persone con disabilità, il 10% totale della
popolazione.
Salvatore, atleta del Circolo Canottieri Aniene, non è nuovo ad imprese di
questo tipo: nel 2009 ha attraversato il
Canale delle Manica e nel 2010 ha lanciato l’iniziativa “A nuoto nei mari del globo
- Per un mondo senza barriere e senza
frontiere”, un tour natatorio per sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica sulla disabilità.
“Tutti possiamo fare tutto” è il suo slogan. Vuole superare barriere materiali e
interiori, dimostrando che “andare oltre”
si può e che lo sport è uno straordinario strumento per farlo. “Sarà anche un
esperimento scientifico” ha sottolineato
Eugenio Guglielmelli, direttore dell’unità
di ricerca di robotica biomedica presso
la facoltà di Ingegneria dell’Università
Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. “Saremo
presenti a fianco di Salvatore, in collaborazione con alcune università americane – ha detto – perché quello che sta
cercando di fare è anche un esperimento
scientifico. Quindi, data l’unicità dell’impresa, monitoreremo i suoi parametri
vitali, la performance e una serie di dati
durante la traversata”.
Questa impresa ha un solo precedente,
portato a termine dall’atleta normodotata
statunitense Diana Nyad, che ce l’ha fatta
al quinto tentativo. Sono molti, infatti, i
pericoli e le difficoltà fisiche, meteorologiche e ambientali da affrontare – tra cui
correnti, squali, banchi di meduse – che
saranno monitorati anche grazie al supporto di un team di appoggio che resterà
costantemente a fianco del nuotatore. E
a chi gli chiede come affronta psicologicamente l’enormità di questa sfida, Salvatore risponde con semplicità: “Amo la
vita, amo nuotare, e quando nuoto torno
ad avere tutte e due le gambe”.

Then fatigue, what he will feel after
hours and hours of swimming in
the ocean. Salvatore Cimmino will swim
from Havana, the capital of Cuba, to Key
West, in Florida. 166 km of water, about
sixty hours without a stop during which he
will not rest, he will not eat and will only
take in mineral supplements. He will also
not be wearing any prosthesis to replace
the leg that he lost, due to an osteosarcoma - a cancer that attacks bone cells
bone – which he had amputated at the
hip when he was 15 years old. Now he
is 51 and he trains with the strength and
commitment of a young boy: he swims at
least 20 km per day in two sessions, one
in the morning and one in the afternoon.
His aim is to make the public and institutions aware on the issue of disability: “I
hope my challenge – he says – will arouse
curiosity, focus attention on the world of
disability and the difficulties that disabled
people live every day”. For this crossing,
among other patronages, there is also
that of the United Nations. Because in the
world, to give you an idea, there are over
750 million people with disabilities, 10%
of the total population.
Salvatore, an athlete of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene, is not new to quests like
this: in 2009 he crossed the Channel and
in 2010 launched the initiative “Swimming
in the Seas of the Globe - for a world
without barriers and without frontiers”,
a swimming tour to sensitise public
opinion on disability. “We are all capable
of everything” is his slogan. He wants to
overcome material and personal barriers,
proving that “going beyond” is possible
and that sport is a powerful tool for doing
so. “It will also be a scientific experiment”
stressed Eugenio Guglielmelli, Director of
the research unit of biomedical robotics at
the Faculty of Engineering of the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome. “We

ella luce ambrata del Mediterraneo, dove l’orizzonte
lascia intuire l’Africa, due sorelle si contendono il
primato di una bellezza antica e leggendaria. Una è
angelica e delicata, con i capelli di sabbia dorata, il corpo
minuto e gli occhi cristallini. L’altra è fiera e selvaggia,
con una chioma rigogliosa, il volto esotico e misterioso.
La prima è il sogno di amanti raffinati, cultori del mare e
di aperitivi al tramonto, la seconda seduce gli spiriti liberi,
gli esploratori e gli animi avventurosi. Lampedusa e Pantelleria sono le perle che ammaliano i viandanti, entrambe
preziose e di pari beltà, eppure diverse come il Sole e la
Luna. Lampedusa è una piccola isola dai litorali di sabbia
finissima, con cale bianche e caraibiche e baie nascoste da
raggiungere in barca. Pantelleria è florida e vulcanica, con
gli scogli color ossidiana e la riserva naturale della Grande

Montagna, attraversata da verdi sentieri. Innamorarsi
dell’una o dell’altra è questione di affinità elettive: Lampedusa sa stregare per l’incanto delle sue spiagge candide,
lambite da acque color zaffiro, mentre Pantelleria cela
incredibili paesaggi naturali, tra pini d’Aleppo e uccelli
variopinti. Se sceglierete di raggiungere la prima, saprà
allettarvi con piccoli paradisi, come Cala Pulcino o la Spiaggia dei Conigli, emozionandovi con la splendida vista
che godrete dalla sommità del suo faro. Chi le preferirà la
seconda, scoprirà luoghi magici e suggestivi, come il Lago
Specchio di Venere alimentato da sorgenti termali, o la
ricchezza dei siti archeologici e dei fondali multicolore.
Quel che è certo è che vi accoglieranno entrambe con un
calore luminoso e memorabile, e che, arrivata l’ora del
pranzo, sapranno come prendervi per la gola.

I dammusi sono le abitazioni
tradizionali di Pantelleria. Costruite nella pietra lavica, hanno
forma cubica e mura spesse, con
il tetto a cupola e le aperture ad
arco. In origine si dividevano in
due ambienti, per gli uomini e
per gli animali; adesso sono state
trasformate in case estive per le
famiglie. Spesso le affiancano i giardini panteschi: oasi circondate
da alte mura di pietra, dove gli
abitanti di Pantelleria proteggono
dal vento gli alberi di agrumi.

delicacies of Sicilian cuisine mix with

The dammusi
Dammusi are the traditional houses of
Pantelleria. Built in lava stone, they
have a cubic shape and thick walls, a
domed roof and arched openings. Originally they divided into two rooms,
for men and animals; now they have
been converted into summer homes for
families. Often they have Pantelleria
gardens: oasis surrounded by high stone
walls, where the people of Pantelleria
protect the citrus trees from the wind.

L
a foto con le Guardie Svizzere trionfa
sempre nell’album dei ricordi. Perché
questi soldati che giurarono fedeltà
al Papa hanno divise sgargianti, perché sono alti e belli, perché segnano il
confine fra l’Italia e il Vaticano. Ma non
tutti conoscono la loro storia. Bisogna
tornare al tempo del Rinascimento, al
1506 quando Papa Giulio II fece venire a
Roma gli Svizzeri: di loro si conoscevano
la forza d’animo e la fedeltà proverbiale. Vennero arruolati con il titolo di
Difensori della libertà della Chiesa. Ai
tempi fare il mercenario era piuttosto
normale e in Vaticano ne arrivarono 150.
Furono subito impegnatissimi e seppero
dimostrare il loro valore. Il 6 maggio 1527
i Lanzichenecchi, truppe di mercenari al
soldo dell’Imperatore Carlo V d’Asburgo,
li massacrarono in quello che è passato
alla storia come il Sacco di Roma: nella
battaglia caddero 147 delle 189 Guardie
Svizzere che componevano il Corpo.
Oggi non si combatte più, e i compiti
della Guardia sono cambiati. Devono
garantire la protezione ravvicinata del
Santo Padre, servizio svolto da personale
altamente qualificato e specificatamente

istruito. Oltre all’incarico di sicurezza,
fanno parte dei compiti di una Guardia
anche il servizio d’ordine e d’onore:
presenta gli onori militari del Papa in
occasione di visite di Capi di Stato, Ambasciatori, Ministri e altre Personalità. In
questi mesi, con il Giubileo, il loro lavoro
è senz’altro intensificato.
Il Corpo è composto da 110 cittadini
svizzeri, di religione cattolica, di altezza
superiore a 174 centimetri e per essere
arruolati servono almeno un diploma di
scuola media e una reputazione ineccepibile. Chi diventa Alabardiere deve aver
meno di 30 anni ed essere celibe ed è
possibile sposarsi solo dopo aver acquisito
il grado di Caporale. Le Guardie abitano
senza eccezione in Vaticano. La durata di
servizio minima è di due anni ed il loro
lavoro è organizzato in tre squadre che si
danno il cambio ogni 24 ore: mentre una
è di servizio, regolarmente una seconda
squadra rinforza lo schieramento ed
è pronta a entrare in azione in caso di
necessità. La terza è libera. In occasione
di Udienze papali o altri impegni speciali
possono essere chiamate a prestare servizio tutte e tre le squadre.

The Pope and his Guards
They are an extra attraction of the
Jubilee: the Swiss soldiers with colourful
uniforms and infallible fidelity.
Since the time of the Sack of Rome
T
he pictures with the Swiss Guards is always
a great memory in a photo album. Because
these soldiers who swore to be faithful to
the Pope have brilliant uniforms, they are
tall and beautiful, and because they mark the
border between Italy and the Vatican City.
However, not everyone knows their story. We
need to go back to the Renaissance, to 1506
when Pope Julius II brought the Swiss to
Rome: they were known for their fortitude and
proverbial loyalty. They were enrolled with
the title of Defenders of the Church’s freedom.
At the time becoming a mercenary was quite
normal and 150 of them arrived at the Vatican.
They were immediately busy and were able
to prove their worth. On the 6th of May 1527
the Landsknecht, troops of mercenaries for
Emperor Charles V, fought them in what is
known to history as the Sack of Rome: in this
battle 147 of the 189 Swiss Guards who made
up the body died.
Today they no longer fight and the tasks of the
Guards have changed. They must ensure the
close protection of the Holy Father, a service
performed by highly qualified and specifically
trained staff. In addition to safeguarding, part
of a Guard’s task is to maintain order and
honor: they present the military honors of the
Pope during visits with heads of state, ambassadors, ministers and other important people. In
recent months, with the Jubilee, their work has
certainly intensified.
The body is made up of 110 Swiss citizens, of
Catholic religion and taller than 174 centimeters. To be enrolled one needs at least a high
school diploma and an impeccable reputation.
Those who become an Alabardiere must be less
than 30 years old and celibate, they may marry

ino ai primi anni duemila Blue
Monday era solo il titolo di un
celebre e lunghissimo (ben sette
minuti) brano della band synth pop
britannica New Order. Il pezzo era
stato ispirato ai membri del gruppo
dalla delusione provata alla fine di ogni
loro concerto, che non si concludeva
mai con la richiesta di un bis da parte
del pubblico. Sarà per questo che, circa
undici anni fa, quando in molti decisero di ufficializzare la nascita del giorno
più triste dell’anno, si pensò proprio
alle note di quel lunedì blu. Per molti,
intendiamo soprattutto gli inglesi, per
i quali questa giornata, che cade ogni
terzo lunedì di gennaio, è diventata
una vera e propria tradizione. Dal sito
bluemonday.org, che propone numerosi spunti per trascorrere in maniera

felice questo tremendo inizio settimana, alle numerose ONG, che offrono
consulenza psicologica, fino addirittura
alla BritishDieteticAssociation, che
per combattere il malumore consiglia
un’alimentazione a base di alimenti
nutrienti e priva di caffeina, la febbre
del blu ha contagiato proprio tutti. Ma
come è nata questa originale ricorrenza? A quanto sembra il Blue Monday si
basa su un’equazione matematica messa a punta dallo psicologo Cliff Arnall,
che per realizzarla ha tenuto conto di
diversi tipi di parametri: clima, distanza dalle festività natalizie, situazione
economica, fallimento dei buoni propositi, etc. Questo studio, tuttavia, non
ha alcun fondamento scientifico e la
stessa Cardiff Università, di cui Arnall
faceva parte, ne ha preso totalmente

vacanze per sfuggire da una presunta
“depressione” post-natalizia. Il Blue
Monday è un giorno davvero triste,
insomma, ma non per tutti.
U
ntil the early years of 2000 Blue Monday was just the title of
a famous and very long song (seven minutes) by the British
synth pop band New Order. The song was inspired by the group
members from the disappointment they felt at the end of every concert when they never got a request for an encore from the audience.
Maybe this is why about eleven years ago when many decided to
make ufficial the date of the saddest day of the year, they thought
about the notes of that blue Monday. For many, especially the British,
this day, which falls on every third Monday in January, has become a
real tradition. The Blue fever has infected everyone, from the website
bluemonday.org, which offers many ideas for happily spending this
horrendous beginning of the week, to the many NGOs that offer
psychological counseling, even up to the BritishDieteticAssociation,
which recommends a diet of nutritious foods and no caffeine to lift
moods. But how did this original celebration begin? Apparently Blue
Monday is based on an equation made by the mathematical psychologist Cliff Arnall, which to calculate it took account of different types
of parameters: climate, distance from the holiday season, economic
situation, failure of good intentions, etc. However, his study has no
scientific foundation and the same Cardiff University, of which
Arnall was part, has not made any acknowledgements. The establishment of the saddest day of the year, it seems, is not actually based
on science , but on other motivations, which are certainly not very
noble. The most accredited is it being a purely economic issue. It seems
that in the midst of it all there is the travel company Sky Travel. The
company used an advert to push the booking of holidays to escape
from a supposed post-Christmas “depression”. In short Blue Monday
is a really sad day, but not for everyone

significa diventare vegano.
L
a pastiera è un dolce appartenente alla
cultura culinaria partenopea, un pilastro della sua pasticceria, tradizionalmente legato al periodo pasquale travalica
ogni tradizione e viene preparato e degustato tutto l’anno. La ricetta tradizionale
prevede una torta di pasta frolla con un
ripieno a base di ricotta, frutta candita
e grano bollito nel latte. La sempre più
diffusa dieta vegana ne propone una sua
versione altrettanto amabile. Eccola.
Preparate la base di pasta frolla con gli
ingredienti per l’impasto (niente burro e
niente uova quindi) fino ad ottenere una
consistenza dura. Lasciate riposare per un
mezzoretta. Dedicatevi quindi al ripieno.
In acqua bollente scottate il riso per

pochissimi minuti (3-4 minuti), scolate e
lasciate freddare. In un pentolino portate
ad ebollizione latte di soia e zucchero,
aggiungere piano piano l’agar agar e girare
(5-7 minuti); spegnere il fuoco e lasciar
raffreddare il tutto. Quando il composto sarà tiepido aggiungere la fialetta di
vaniglia, il riso e i canditi.
Stendete la base di frolla in una tortiera di
26 cm di diametro con bordo alto: la base
sarà di circa 5-7 mm: bucherellate con la
forchetta. Mettete il composto sopra la
base di frolla e decorate a piacimento.
Infornate la torta per circa 40 minuti a
180°, preferibilmente a forno ventilato.
Prima di servire aspettate che la torta si
sia freddata.

anche un omaggio al legame speciale tra

negli spazi della Strozzina la selezione di
opere che poi trovò collocazione definitiva a Venezia. I grandi dipinti, le sculture, le incisioni e le
fotografie esposte in mostra a Palazzo Strozzi, provengono
dalle collezioni Guggenheim di New York e Venezia e da
altri prestigiosi musei internazionali. L’esposizione, curata
da Luca Massimo Barbero, presenta opere di Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Man Ray ma anche Jean Dubuffet, Lucio Fontana, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Alexander Calder, Roy Lichtenstein.

da questo capolavoro che parte la mostra.

The excellence of Italian graphic novels finally
collected in an overview that traces fifty years
of the made in Italy comics. It was 1967 when
The Ballad of the Salt Sea by Hugo Pratt was
published, the first adventure of Corto Maltese
and it is from this masterpiece that the exhibition begins. It continues with works such as:
Sheraz-De by Sergio Toppi; The Extraordinary

Un trattato sull’esistenza, ricco ma mai tedioso né ostico
alla lettura, il cui titolo semplifica eccessivamente – Ventotto domande per affrontare il futuro – restituendo l’immagine di un banale manuale sull’arte del vivere, che di fatto
questo libro non è. Il testo ha il pregio di essere fruibile
e denso allo stesso tempo, non ha nulla a che fare con
letture new age che elargiscono consigli, bensì è un testo
che induce a riflettere offrendo un punto di vista interessante e strutturato, che non ha la presunzione di essere
il solo. L’autore, lo studioso inglese Theodore Zeldin,
spiega: “Questo libro contiene ventotto domande e mi
piacerebbe che i lettori possano rispondere alle stesse,
suggerisco il modo di vedere le cose, ma le mie non sono
delle verità. Non propongo nessuna ideologia, ma invito a provare ad esplorare la propria vita e quella altrui”,
partendo dalla rimozione delle ipocrisie, pratica che ti
fa avvicinare alla verità che spesso “è un diamante che
riflette varie luci”.
Un racconto illustrato – pubblicato da Einaudi con le
illustrazioni di Lorenzo Ceccotti – onirico, fiabesco.
Il protagonista è un bambino, un fanciullo, che entra
in una biblioteca alla ricerca di un libro e viene inghiottito in una dimensione che il lettore non riesce
più a riconoscere come reale. La biblioteca, casa della
cultura e del sapere, si trasforma in un labirinto, in
cui il protagonista si perde e dove reale e immaginifico si confondono. Con il progredire della narrazione,
aumenta il senso di inquietudine e il lettore precipita
insieme al protagonista nella stessa dimensione allucinatoria. Co-protagonisti sono un vecchio bibliotecario e il suo gregario, nomen omen, l’uomo-pecora.
E proprio il personaggio mezzo uomo e mezzo pecora che, insieme all’atmosfera sospesa a tinte nere,
ci porta con la mente ad un altro racconto, Le Metamorfosi di Kafka, autore ben conosciuto dal maestro
giapponese.
Ogni angolo di mondo ha una storia, tante storie, da
raccontare, tesori, bellezza, mistero ed anche molte difficili contraddizioni. Ma della maggior parte
dei paesi se ne ignorano anche i principali elementi
storiografici. Così è il caso dell’Azerbaigian, paese
dell’Asia caucasica, poco conosciuto da noi Europei.
Da questa ignoranza ne fanno le spese i tanti possibili interscambi culturali e i potenziali accordi commerciali. Carlo Frappi, l’autore di questo agile volume edito da Sandro Teti, offre un testo valido come
buona introduzione alla conoscenza di questo paese:
ricostruendo un inquadramento storico ed un’introduzione geo-politica dell’Azerbaigian, fondamentali
a colmare le più gravi lacune, Frappi delinea un profilo dello sviluppo economico e industriale del paese
e delle sue relazioni, diplomatiche e commerciali con
l’Italia.
“Un libro che ci parla degli altri e finisce per insegnarci parecchio su noi stessi” recita la quarta di
copertina. E così è. Una serie di cartine dell'Europa
e del Mondo illustrano i diversi pregiudizi che ogni
popolo riserva ai paesi confinanti. Il risultato sono
tante Europe, tanti Mondi, uno diverso dall'altro e
tutti molto parziali, anche nel pregiudizio nazionale.
Pur provando ad unire tutti insieme i pregiudizi non
si ottiene il ritratto completo di nessun popolo, perché di fatto si tratta di approssimazioni, schizzi appena abbozzati, caricature in definitiva. Ma l’autore,
nato in Bulgaria, cresciuto in Germania e attualmente residente in Spagna, insomma un Europeo, riesce
a presentarci un atlante sui generis molto divertente che certamente fà sorridere parecchio il lettore
e, magari, lo induce a fare qualche riflessione sulle
differenze e sul potere del comico.
Essays about existence, rich but never tedious or hostile to read,
the title of the book excessively oversimplifying them – The
Hidden Treasures Of Life – it gives an image of a boring manual on the art of living, which in fact this book is not. The text
has the benefit of being easy to read and dense at the same time,
it has nothing in common with new age texts which hand out
advise, this is a text which provokes reflection by offering an
interesting and well structured point of view, but without the
assumption of being the only one. The author, the English Scholar Theodore Zeldin, explains: “This book contains twenty-eight
questions and I would like readers to answers these, I suggest
ways of looking at things, but my ways, not the truth. I don’t
propone any ideology, but I invite to explore one’s own life and
that of others”, starting from the removal of hypocrisy, practice
which helps to get closer to the truth which often “is a diamond
reflecting different angles of light”.
An illustrated story – published by Einaudi with illustrations by Lorenzo Ceccotti – it is dreamlike, fairytale
like. The main character is a child, a young boy, who enters a library looking for a book and is then eaten up by
a dimension which the reader is no longer able to see as
real. The library, home of culture and knowledge, becomes a labyrinth, where the protagonist becomes lost and
where reality and imagination fuse together. With the
development of the narration, the sense of anxiety increases and the reader falls, together with the character, in
a hallucinatory dimension. Other main characters are an
old librarian and his helper, Nomen Omen, the sheep-man.
It is this character, half man, half sheep, which together
with the suspense and gloomy feel, takes us to another story, the metamorphosis of Kafka, an author known by the
Japanese master.
Every corner of the world has a story, many stories to
tell, treasures, beauty, mystery and also many difficult
contradictions. But the majority of countries ignore even
the principal histographical elements. This is the case for
Azerbaijan, a country of causican Asia, not much known
by us Europeans. To pay for this ignorance are the many
possible cultural interchanges and potential commercial
dealings. Cralo Frappi, the author of this agile volume
edited by Sandro Teti, offers a text as a good introduction
to get to know this country: moving along an historical
background with a geo-political introduction to Azerbaijan, fundamental to filling the biggest gaps. Frappi delineates a profile of the economic and industrial development
of the country and it’s relations, diplomatic and commercial, with Italy.
“A book which talks about others and ends up teaching us a lot
about ourselves” says the back cover. And so it does. A series of
European and World maps illustrate the various prejudices
which every population reserves for confining countries. The
result is many Europes, many worlds, all different from the
other and all very biased, even down to their own national
prejudices. Although trying to unite all the prejudices you
don’t get a complete portrait of any population, because after
all these are approximations, sketches just sketched, caricatures to be defined. But the author, born in Bulgaria, grew up
in Germany and now living in Spain, in other words very
European, manages to present us with a sui generis Atlas,
which is very funny and will certainly make you laugh lots,
and maybe even make you reflect on the differences and the
power of comedy.

Il rischio che si pensi all’ennesima operazione di marketing è molto alto. Tuttavia, già la sola lettura delle tracce
di You and I, raccolta postuma di Jeff Buckley, fa ben sperare. L’album, infatti, non contiene solo cover, tra le quali
spiccano Just like a woman di Bob Dylan e The boy with a
thorn in his side degli Smiths, ma ci regala anche la prima
registrazione di Grace, capolavoro che gli ha donato la
fama mondiale, e l’inedito Dream of you and I, a cui si
ispira il titolo del disco. Questo lavoro è il frutto di lunghe
ricerche compiute negli archivi della Sony, che ha deciso
di rendere pubblico il prezioso materiale in vista del ventennale dalla prematura scomparsa dell’artista, avvenuta il
29 maggio 1997 nelle acque del Wolf River, in Mississipi.
Dieci tracce, mai ascoltate prima, che ci fanno apprezzare
Buckley non soltanto come musicista, ma anche come
interprete dalla voce unica e ancora oggi senza eredi.
Call It What It Is rappresenta per Ben Harper un ritorno
alle origini. A differenza dell’ultimo Childhood Home
(2014), infatti, questa volta l’artista californiano non è
da solo. Ad accompagnarlo, a distanza di ben otto anni
dal loro ultimo lavoro insieme, c’è la sua storica band, gli
Innocent Criminals. Con loro ha esordito nel 1995, realizzando alcuni dei dischi più importanti della sua carriera:
da Fight for Your Mind fino a Life time, passando per The
Will to Live, Burn to Shine e Diamonds on the Inside.
“Fare musica nuovamente con The Innocent Criminals
è una mia priorità in questo momento”, aveva dichiarato
Harper due anni fa alla rivista Rolling Stones: ora l’attesa
è finalmente terminata. Anticipato dal singolo Pink Balloon, Call It What It Is è un album forte e chiaro come il
suo titolo, nato dalla collaborazione vincente di un gruppo
di musicisti, ma soprattutto di grandi amici.
Radio Silence, anticipato dall’omonimo singolo, è il
nuovo attesissimo lavoro del cantante, produttore e polistrumentista inglese James Blake. Nonostante l’uscita
fosse prevista già a fine 2015, l’album giustifica il suo
ritardo perché si presenta come il sequel di Overgrown,
disco che lo ha consacrato artista di fama mondiale e che
gli ha fatto ottenere un Mercury Prize e una nomination
ai Grammy Awards. Successo non facile da replicare,
ma Blake ci prova con un disco denso di collaborazioni,
da Bon Iver a Kanye West, e caratterizzato da un sound
in continua evoluzione, senza tuttavia tradire il suo
inconfondibile marchio electro-pop. Del resto, da DJ
nei club della capitale britannica a vera e propria icona
della musica elettronica, il ventiseienne londinese ne
ha fatta di strada. E noi siamo già pronti a seguire la sua
prossima mossa.
Un romanzo, Il Paese dei coppoloni, un film, Nel Paese
dei coppoloni, e ora un doppio album, Canzoni della cupa,
come terza tappa di un viaggio in un mondo perduto. Ad
accompagnarci in questa riscoperta c’è un perfetto cantastorie, Vinicio Capossela, che torna dopo cinque lunghissimi anni di assenza. Suddiviso in Lato della Polvere, che
contiene brani dedicati alla terra, e Lato in Ombra, in cui
invece sono il presagio e l’inquietudine a farla da padrone,
Canzoni della cupa è un’opera che attinge dai canti popolari della nostra tradizione contadina. Ci sono voluti ben
dieci anni di lavoro, ma il risultato è il meraviglioso racconto di un universo estinto, da cui ci siamo sradicati, ma a cui
sentiamo di appartenere. Una narrazione in musica che non
si riduce al semplice canto d’amore per la propria terra, ma
che ha, anzi, l’obiettivo di condurci oltre la realtà attraverso
il mito, il sogno e l’incontro con personaggi straordinari.
There is a high chance that you may think of it as another marketing ploy. However, just reading the words of You and I, the
posthumous collection of Jeff Buckley, bodes well. The album, in
fact, doesn’t only have covers, among which stand out Just Like
a Woman of Bob Dylan and The Boy with a Thorn in His Side
by The Smiths, but it also gives us the first recording of Grace, a
masterpiece that gave him worldwide fame, and the unreleased
Dream of You and I, which inspired the title of the disc. This
album is the fruit of extensive research done in the archives
of Sony, which has decided to make the valuable material
available to the public in view of the twentieth anniversary of
the artist’s premature death, on May 29, 1997 in the waters of
the Wolf River in Mississippi. Ten tracks which have never been
heard before, make us appreciate Buckley, not only as a musician
but also as a performer with a unique voice and no match yet.
Call It What It Is reppresents a return to his origins for
Ben Harper. Unlike his last Childhood Home (2014), this

eight years from their last recordings together, is his historical band, the Innocent Criminals. He began with them

is my priority right now”, Harper declared to the Rolling
Stones magazine two years ago: now the wait is finally
over. Anticipated by the single Pink Balloon, Call It What
It Is is a clear and strong album like the title, created by the
winning collaboration of a group of musicians but above
all, great friends.
Radio Silence, anticipated by the so named single, is the
highly anticipated new album by the English singer,
producer and multi-instrumentalist, James Blake.
Although the release was planned for late 2015, the
album justifies its delay because it presents itself as the
sequel to Overgrown, album that won him world fame
and earned him a Mercury Prize and a Grammy Awards
nomination. Success is not easy to replicate, but Blake
tries with a disc full of collaborations, from Bon Iver to
Kanye West, and characterised by a continually evolving

to the simple song of love for land, but which has the aim of
leading us beyond reality through myth, dreams and meetings
with extraordinary characters.

di due donne con problemi psichiatrici

Beatrice Morandini Valdirana è una donna
ciarliera, nobile decaduta, che millanta amicizie
con i grandi della Terra. Diametralmente
opposta Donatella Morelli: riservata, esile, con
vistosi tatuaggi sulle braccia e un tragico segreto
nel suo passato. Una misura di sicurezza emessa
dall’autorità giudiziaria, le ha confinate a tempo
indeterminato presso una comunità terapeutica
per donne con disturbi di mente. Ed è lì che
nasce una sorprendente amicizia tra due anime
che non potrebbero essere più diverse e che
spinge le donne ad una tragicomica fuga dalla
struttura, trascinandole in un vortice di allegria
e vitalità. “Una passeggiata fuori da una struttura
clinica che si occupa di donne con problemi in
quel manicomio a cielo aperto che è l’Italia”,
ha spiegato lo stesso Virzì che torna a girare
nella sua Toscana dopo il fortunato “La prima
cosa bella”. La scelta di affidare a Valeria Bruni
Tedeschi e a Micaela Ramazzotti i ruoli delle
due protagoniste, è stata molto semplice: sul set
del Capitale Umano le attrici si erano incontrate
ed il regista aveva notato una certa alchimia.
Il film, scritto con Francesca Archibugi, più
che raccontare una bizzarra fuga alla Telma e
Louise, ha come tema il labile confine tra il sano
e l’insano. Un equilibrio sottile e forse invisibile.
The film brings to the screen the autobiographical
book: The Press, The President, and The Privilege
of Power, written by Mary Mapes Truth and Duty,
where the established journalist and producer of
CBS tells of how she was involved in one of the most
bitter controversies in American journalism. The
woman receives a tip from a source who claims to
have documents proving that President Bush received
preferential treatment on his National Guard duty,
he was helped to avoid service in the Vietnam
War. On the basis of these documents the television
network broadcasts a 60 minute slot, quickly causing
a violent whirlwind of controversy as to the truth
of this information from the broadcast. The media
pillory reaches such an echo as to force the channel
to dismiss many workers and journalist Dan Rather,
to resign. Beyond the story, full of twists and turns,
the film emphasises the change in the way of doing
journalism, how investigations are disappearing due
to costs, danger, the difficult relationship with power
and how, with the soaring of the Internet, anyone has
the opportunity to spread their opinions, sometimes so
aggressively and out of control.

Beatrice Morandini Valdirana is a chatty, impoverished
noble woman, who boasts of friendships with the
powerful on Earth. Donatella Morelli is completely
the opposite: reserved, slender, with fancy tattoos on
her arms and a tragic past secret. A detention order
issued by the court has confined them indefenately to
a therapeutic community for women with mental
illnesses. That’s where a surprising friendship strikes
up between the two very different souls and which
brings the women to a tragicomic escape from the place,
dragging them into a whirlwind of joy and vitality.
“A walk outside from a clinical place that takes care of
women with problems to that open air asylum which
is Italy”, explained Virzi who returns to film in his
native Tuscany after the successful “The First Beautiful
Thing”. The decision to give the role of protagonists to
Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Micaela Ramazzotti was
very simple: the actresses had met on the set of Human
Capital and the director had noticed a certain alchemy.
The film, written with Francesca Archibugi, rather
than telling of a bizarre runaway like Telma and
Louise it has as a theme the fine line between sane and
unsane. A balance which is subtle and perhaps invisible.

Privilege of Power, in cui l’affermata giornalista
e produttrice della CBS racconta di come fu
coinvolta in una delle più aspre controversie del
giornalismo americano. La donna ottiene una
soffiata da una fonte che sostiene di possedere
i documenti comprovanti che il Presidente
Bush ricevette un trattamento privilegiato
nella Guardia Nazionale,che gli evitò il servizio
nella guerra del Vietnam. Sulla scorta di questi
documenti, la rete televisiva manda in onda
un servizio di 60 minuti e subito un violento
turbine di polemiche circa la veridicità di queste
informazioni si abbatte sull’emittente. La gogna
mediatica raggiunge una tale eco da costringere
il canale a molti licenziamenti e il giornalista Dan
Rather a rassegnare le dimissioni. Al di là della
storia, ricca di colpi di scena, quel che il film
sottolinea è il cambiamento del modo di fare
giornalismo, di come stia sparendo l’inchiesta
per motivi legati ai costi, al pericolo, al difficile
rapporto con i poteri forti e di come, con
l’avvento di Internet, sia stata data la possibilità
a chiunque di diffondere le proprie opinioni,
talvolta in modo aggressivo e privo di controllo.

IL PASSEGGERO
Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’Unione
Europea ha adottato nuove regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi
che possono essere introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole si applicano nei confronti
tutti i passeggeri in partenza dagli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea verso qualsiasi
destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il relativo bagaglio a mano
devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi. Comunque, le nuove
regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere acquistati presso gli
esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di viaggio od a bordo
di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’Unione Europea.
Le nuove regole si applicano a partire da lunedì 6 novembre 2006, in tutti gli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea, in Norvegia, Islanda e Svizzera a meno di eventuali
modifiche.

Il vostro “orologio biologico” può a volte non gradire i cambi di fuso legati al
viaggio aereo: senso di affaticamento, difficoltà a prendere sonno e riduzione
dell’appetito sono tra i sintomi più comuni. Per minimizzare l’impatto di tale
fenomeno, si consiglia di dormire bene la notte prima del volo e di mantenere
le proprie “lancette biologiche” sull’orario di casa se la permanenza nel luogo
di destinazione non dovesse superare i due giorni. In caso di una permanenza più prolungata, è opportuno adeguarsi il prima possibile all’orario locale e
attenersi a regole di vita salutari, tenendo presente che il recupero degli effetti
“jet lag” è generalmente più rapido se si viaggia con direzione ovest e più lento
con direzione est.
Sometimes you “biological clock” may not welcome the time changes involved
in air travel and it finds ways of letting you know about this. Some of the most
common symptoms are a sense of weariness, difficulty in falling asleep at night
and appetite loss. To minimize jet lag effects, make sure you get a good night
sleep before leaving and, if you plan to stay abroad less than two days, keep
you biological clock set on your home time (i.e. keep your regular eating and
sleeping habits). In the event of a longer trip, it is advisable to get used to local
time as soon as possible and to conduct a regular and healthy life. Remember
that getting over jet lag is generally quicker when travelling westwards than
eastwards.

bordo dei nostri aerei To help you feel better when you fly
with us, just follow these tips and suggestions designed to
enhance your well being on board
Stare a lungo seduti in una stessa posizione può farvi sentire a
disagio sull’aereo. Sgranchitevi gambe e braccia ogni due ore
circa. Alzatevi di tanto in tanto e camminate su e giù per il corridoio oppure fate i semplici esercizi* di stretching illustrati per
prevenire problemi circolatori.
Prolonged sitting in a fixed position can make you feel uncomfortable in the plane. Every few hours, stretch your arms and legs
or carry out some easy exercises* suggested below.
Consumate pasti leggeri, mangiate con moderazione e limitare
bevande gassate, tè e caffè.
Eat a light meal and moderate you intake of fizzy drinks, tea and
coffee.
Bevete molta acqua naturale, meglio se in piccole quantità e
spesso.
Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.
Moderate il consumo di bevande alcoliche, poiché queste sono
assorbite più facilmente dal corpo ad alta quota a causa della
bassa pressione dell’aria all’interno della cabina.
Moderate your intake of alcohol.
In caso di permanenza prolungata a bordo è consigliato sostituire le lenti a contatto con degli occhiali per evitare irritazioni
oculari. Togliete sempre le lenti a contatto prima di dormire.
In case of a long flight it is recommended to wear eyeglasses
rather than contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before sleeping.
*Vi suggeriamo di sospendere immediatamente questi esercizi
se causano dolore o disagio.

Start the exercise by sitting in comfortably in your seat in an upright position.

Poggiate entrambi i piedi sul pavimento. Flettete i piedi puntando i talloni in su e poi in giù. Ripetete per cinque volte.
Rest both feet on the floor. Flex both feet with toes pointing
upward, then point your toes downward Perform this exercise
five times.

Sollevate dolcemente il ginocchio verso il busto per alcuni secondi, poi lasciatelo andare, poggiando nuovamente il piede
sul pavimento. Fate lo stesso con l’altra gamba. Ripetete cinque
volte per gamba.
Raise you knee gently towards the chest for a few seconds and
then release, placing your feet back on the floor. Continue with
the other leg. Repeat five times for each leg.

Mettete le mani sotto una coscia e sollevatele dolcemente verso il busto. Ruotate la caviglia in modo circolare per 5 secondi.
Ripetete con l’altra gamba. Ripetete questo esercizio cinque
volte per gamba.
Place your hands under one thigh, and gently lift toward your
chest. Rotate your ankle in a circular motion for 5 seconds. Repeat with the other leg. Perform this exercise five times with
both legs.
