Wie sich Emaille im Feuer mit Kupfer verbindet, möchte ich erreichen, dass
Menschen durch die Kunst miteinander verbunden werden.
“UNIRE”: Il motto per il mio incarico come Presidente Internazionale. Così
come, attraverso il fuoco, smalto e rame diventano una cosa sola, vorrei
ottenere che, attraverso l’arte, le persone si uniscano fra loro.
“TO BIND”: The motto for my mission as First President.
As enamel and copper, under the action of fire, become one, I’d wish that,
under the action of art, people bind with each other.

a bella Italia ospita nel 2015 due importanti
eventi internazionali: l’EXPO 2015 a Milano e il
XXIII Congresso Internazionale degli Smaltatori a
Firenze. il Creativ-Kreis-International ha accettato
l’invito a organizzare un’esposizione Internazionale
di smalti artistici. Questa Esposizione, insolita e
breve nel tempo, dal tema CONVERGENZE, riflette
perfettamente il clima d’incontri internazionali in
cui s’inserisce. Come insegna da sempre e ci trasmette in una poesia
la nostra fondatrice Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer:
Tutti noi abbiamo la chiave. Le porte spalancano i muri, dischiudono
nuovi spazi vitali, favoriscono incontri e interazioni, contatti e
comunicazioni. Tutti noi abbiamo la chiave!
Da semplice tecnico, aggiungo questo motto: Se gli artisti di talento
formano nuove scuole, le scuole poi creano nuovi artisti di talento. È
proprio per questo che all’Esposizione parteciperanno anche alcune
scuole che da anni tramandano le arti del fuoco ai giovani.
Partecipano anche e sono presenti alcuni “maestri smaltatori
affermati” accanto a giovani artisti. E’ dalla smaltatura artistica che
intorno al 1750 è nato la smaltatura industriale
Le tecniche della smaltatura si sono conservate ed evolute per 3.500
anni fino alla nostra epoca, passando attraverso popoli, società,
culture e religioni differenti. Diversi movimenti artistici e scuole hanno
contribuito a diffondere lo smalto nel mondo. Grazie agli scambi
artistici e culturali, fatti propri anche dal C. K. I., questa arte difficile e
per pochi eletti, è stata praticata fino ad oggi. Assistiamo tuttora a
risultati sorprendenti, ma solo dopo numerose cotture a oltre 800°C.
Immaginatevi se Leonardo da Vinci avesse dipinto la Monna Lisa in
smalto fuoco, invece di usare colori ad olio su tela. Oggi questo
capolavoro sarebbe ancora intatto da poterlo ammirare al Louvre
con gli stessi colori brillanti di quando la Gioconda fu creata.
L’esposizione internazionale prosegue a Monza, presso l’Oasi di San
Gerardo, dal 3 al 7 giugno.

I
n 2015, the “Bella Italia” is home of two important
International events: EXPO 2015 in Milan and the
23th International Enamellers Congress in Florence.
The Creativ-Kreis-International has been invited to
organize an International Exposition of enamel art
and we gladly accepted. The theme for this short
and unusual Exposition is CONVERGENCES, a title
that fits perfectly with the atmosphere of these
international meetings. As our founder Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer
always taught and once wrote in a poem:
We all have the key. Doors open walls wide, disclose new vital
spaces, encourage encounters and interactions, contacts and
communications. We all have the key!
As a technician, I add this motto: If talented artists form new schools,
later the schools will form new talented artists. That’s why this Expo will
enjoy the participation of a few schools that have been transmitting
the fire arts to the new generations. Side-by-side with the young artists,
some “renowned master enamellers” will also be present as
participants. After all, it’s from artistic enamel that enamel industry
was born c. 1750 AD.
The enamel techniques have been handed down and have evolved
for about 3500 years, passing through many populations, societies,
cultures and religions. Different artistic schools and movements have
contributed to spread enamel in the world. Thanks to cultural-artistic
exchanges (shared by C.K.I.), this difficult art has been practiced up
to now with amazing results. We can still admire the amazing results,
obtained only after many firings at 800°C.
Just imagine if Leonardo da Vinci had painted his Mona Lisa with
enamel; his masterpiece would’ve survived unchanged to this day
and we would see the Gioconda in the Louvre Museum as shining as it
was when he created it.
The international exposition will continue in Monza by the “Oasi di San
Gerardo” (June 3rd – 7th).

m Jahr 2015 werden in „Bella Italia“ zwei wichtige
Ereignisse stattfinden: die EXPO 2015 in Mailand und
der internationale Kongress der Emailleure in Florenz.
Der Creativ-Kreis-International bekam und akzeptierte
die
Einladung,
einige
künstlerische
Emailkunstexponate auszustellen. Thema dieser kurzen
Expo wird KONVERGENZEN sein – ein Titel, der sehr
geeignet ist für diese Atmosphäre internationaler
Treffen. Wie unsere Gründerin Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer immer sagte
und einmal in einem Gedicht schrieb:
Wir alle haben den Schlüssel! Türen öffnen Mauern, lassen ein und aus
- erschließen Lebensraum, ermöglichen Begegnungen und
Wechselbeziehungen, Kontakte und Kommunikation. Wir haben den
Schlüssel dazu!
Als Techniker wiederhole ich immer: wenn Künstler mit Talent neue
Schulen bilden, dann bilden Schulen neue Künstler mit Talent. Einige
Schulen werden deshalb an dieser Expo teilnehmen, weil sie die
Feuerkünste der neuen Generationen lehren. Mit den jungen Künstlern
werden auch einige „weltbekannte Emailkünstler“ teilnehmen. Es liegt
doch an der Emailkunst, dass die Emailindustrie etwa 1750 geboren
wurde.
Die Emailtechniken entwickelten sich im Laufe von 35 Jahrhunderten
und überdauerten viele Völker, unterschiedlicher Kulturen, Religionen
und sozialer Hintergründe. Sie wurden von vielen Schulen und
Kunstrichtungen aus allen Epochen und aus der ganzen Welt
aufgegriffen und verbreitet. Dank der künstlerisch-kulturellen
Begegnungen wird diese angewandte Kunst noch heute mit
wunderbaren Ergebnissen ausgeübt, die nur nach vielen Bränden bei
ca. 800 °C sichtbar wird.
Stellen wir uns vor, Leonardo Da Vinci hätte Email benutzt, um die
Mona Lisa zu malen; sein Meisterwerk würde unverändert bis heute
überleben, und die „Gioconda“ würde im Louvre Museum
genauso glänzend aussehen, wie sie nach ihrer Entstehung war.
Die internationale Expo wird später von 3. bis 7. Juni in der „Oasi di
San Gerardo“ von Monza wieder ausgestellt.

I
l Congresso dell’Istituto Internazionale Smaltatori è materialmente e
intimamente legato al nostro smalto artistico. È una pietra miliare
nella storia del Creativ-Kreis-International. Firenze, metropoli d’arte e
cultura, è un luogo ideale per quest’incontro.
Voglio esprimere la mia gratitudine ad Attilio Compagnoni, Presidente
del C.K.I. Italia, che ha supervisionato l’organizzazione di questo
evento con grande dispendio di tempo.
Ringraziamenti speciali a lui e a tutti i responsabili dell’Istituto
Internazionale Smaltatori che hanno reso possibile tutto questo. In
particolare, voglio salutare con riconoscenza le seguenti persone:

he Congress of the International Enamellers Institute is closely and
materially related with our artistic enamel. It’s a milestone in the
history of the Creativ-Kreis-International. Florence, a metropolis of art
and culture, is a ideal place for this meeting.
I express my gratitude for the President of CKI Italy, Attilio
Compagnoni, who supervised the time-consuming scheduling.
Special thanks to him and to all the authorities of the International
Enamellers Institute who made this meeting possible. In particular, I

Nata nel 1958, Ludmilla Baitsaeva si è diplomata nel 1977 al
dipartimento di design del Liceo Artistico di Vladikavkaz e si è
laureata nel 1982 alla facoltà di arti applicate nell’Istituto Tecnologico
di Mosca. Si esprime in diverse tecniche (batik, arazzo, installazione,
acrilico e soprattutto smalto). È membro dell’Unione degli Artisti ed è
un’Artista Onoraria della Federazione Russa e della Repubblica
dell’Ossezia Settentrionale. Ha vinto molti premi e le sue opere sono
esposte in Ungheria e in Russia.
Born in 1958, Ludmilla Baitsaeva graduated in 1977 from the
department of design at the Vladikavkaz Art College and in 1982 from
the faculty of applied art of the Moscow Technological Institute. She
expresses herself in different techniques (batik, tapestry, installation,
acryl-painting and mostly enamel). She is member of the Union of
Artists and an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and of the
Republic of North Ossetia. She won many prizes and her works are
exposed in Hungary and Russia.

Luigi Barato è un maestro d’arte ed esperto di lavorazione del rame e
dello smalto. La sua famiglia ha una lunghissima tradizione nella
lavorazione del rame. Barato ha lavorato per 20 anni nell’atelier del
grande artista/artigiano Paolo De Poli a Padova. Oggi è vicedirettore
della Scuola d’Arte e Mestieri di Vicenza, dove è docente di smalto a
fuoco su metallo.
Luigi Barato is a master of art and a skilled coppersmith and enameller.
His family has a very long tradition of coppersmith’s art. Prof. Barato
worked for 20 years in the workshop of a great artist and craftsman,
Paolo de Poli, in Padua. He is vice-director in the School of Art and
Crafts in Vicenza where he teaches hot enamel on metal.

Marco Benesso è un orafo di Piove di Sacco (Padova), dove gestisce
la gioielleria storica dell’Ottocento che appartiene alla sua famiglia
dalla fine degli anni Quaranta. Ha iniziato a fare le prime esperienze
nel laboratorio del padre e si è diplomato presso l’Istituto
Gemmologico Italiano di Milano. Ha proseguito la sua formazione
frequentando i laboratori di altri maestri orafi, incisori e cesellatori,
apprendendo da essi i segreti della tecnica e i canoni estetici.
Marco Benesso is a goldsmith from Piove di Sacco (Padova), where he
runs the 19th century historical jewelry that belongs to his family since
the late 1940s. He had his first goldsmith experiences in his father’s
laboratory and graduated by the Italian Gemological Institute in
Milan. He continued his artistic education in the laboratories of other
masters, mainly goldsmiths, engravers and chisellers, learning from
them the secrets of technique and aesthetics.

Silvia Brambilla è nata a Monza, dove tuttora vive e lavora. Il suo
percorso personale ha attraversato numerose esperienze artistiche,
inclusa la modellazione dell’argilla e la cottura con tecnica Raku. Ha
partecipato a numerosi concorsi, in cui ha ottenuto diversi
riconoscimenti, tra cui il premio di categoria RAKU al VI concorso
nazionale delle Arti del Fuoco di Nova Milanese. Dal 2009 è iscritta al
C.K.I.
Silvia Brambilla was born in Monza where she still lives and works. She
uses various techniques including clay modeling and RAKU firing. She
has taken part in many contests and was rewarded the Prize for RAKUfired work in the National Contest of Fine Arts in Nova Milanese. She
has been a member of C.K.I. since 2009.

Nonostante la sua formazione tecnico-commerciale, Marinella
Canonico si occupa da anni di acquarello e porcellana. Il suo
interesse per lo smalto è nato qualche anno fa dopo un seminario
nella “Bottega dello Smalto” di Suor Teresa a Monza.
Ha esposto le sue opere in numerose mostre nazionali e internazionali.
Ha vinto anche premi e riconoscimenti a livello regionale e nazionale.
È membro del CKI Italia.
Marinella Canonico followed a technical-commercial education, but
she has been practicing water colours and porcelain for many years.
Her interest in enamel began a few years ago after a seminary by the
“Bottega dello Smalto” (Enamel Workshop) of Sister Teresa in
Monza.Her work has been shown in many national and international
exhibitions and she has won prizes at regional and national levels. She
is a member of CKI Italy.

Sachiko Chino è una progettista, creatrice e smaltatrice di gioielli
originaria di Nagano in Giappone. Sachiko ha ricevuto la sua
formazione presso prestigiosi istituti d’arte e di gemmologia negli Stati
Uniti. Dopo la laurea ha lavorato presso diverse compagnie nel settore
della gioielleria in Giappone e, dal 1994 al 1997, presso il suo Atelier
Terra a Nagano. Attualmente, vive a Firenze insegna presso
l’Accademia di Gioielleria “Arti Orafe” dal 2003. È membro del CKI
Italia e del Guild of Enamellers.
Sachiko Chino is a jewelry designer, manufacturer and enameller from
Nagano in Japan. Sachiko was educated in some prestigious jewelry
and gemological institutes in the United States. After her diploma, she
returned to Japan and worked for many jewelry companies and, from
1994 to 1997, in her own “Atelier Terra” in Nagano. She now lives in
Florence and teaches by the “Arti Orafe” Jewelry Academy since
2003. She is member of CKI Italy and of the Guild of Enamellers.

Veronica Cozzi ha studiato inglese e francese ha lavorato in come
corrispondente estero per diverse aziende e agenzie pubblicitarie. Da
circa 20 anni dipinge su porcellana e da 15 anni pratica anche la
smaltatura su rame, appresa dal maestro Giampiero Stella presso la
Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana.
Veronica Cozzi studied English and French and worked as an
interpreter for many companies and advertising agencies. She has
been painting on ceramics for 20 years and practicing enameling on
copper for 15; she learned this technique by master Giampiero Stella
and the “Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana” (Ambrosian Goldsmith School).

Rebecca Di Filippo è una giovanissima artista originaria di Casatenovo
(Lecco). Ha conseguito il diploma al liceo artistico “Preziosissimo
Sangue “di Monza e da allora si dedica all'oreficeria e in particolare,
dal 2012, alla smaltatura a fuoco. Una passione che ha potuto mettere
in campo, per la prima volta, con l'artista Franco Losvizzero nella
performance dal vivo "Lo Specchio Profondo". È membro del CKI Italia.
Rebecca Di Filippo is a young artist from Casatenovo (Lecco). She
graduated at the “Liceo Artistico Preziosissimo Sangue” in Monza and
since then dedicated herself to goldsmith’s art and, in particular, to
enameling since 2012. This is a passion that she put in action for the
very first time with artist Franco Losvizzero in her live performance “The
Deep Mirror”. She is member of CKI Italy.

Ivan Dyakov è nato a Chebarkul e oggi risiede in San Pietroburgo. Si è
laureato nel 1998 presso l’Accademia Statale d’Arte e Design del
Barone Von Stieglitz di San Pietroburgo. Dal 2000 è membro
dell’Unione degli Artisti della Russia. Dal 1995 si è dedicato alla
tecnica dello smalto ed ha partecipato a oltre quaranta mostre
artistiche in Russia e all’estero, e a seminari internazionali. Fra le sue
opere più notevoli, Ivan ha realizzato un gran numero d’icone per la
Cattedrale Navale di Kronštadt a San Pietroburgo.
Ivan Dyakov was born in Chebarkul and now lives in St. Petersburg. He
graduated from the State Industrial Art Academy ‘A.L. Von Stieglitz’ in
St. Petersburg in 1998. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of
Russia since 2000. He started working in the enamelling technique in
1995 and since then he has taken part in over 40 art exhibitions in
Russia and abroad, as well as in a number of enamel seminaries. One
of Ivan’s most important works is the production of a large number of
enameled icons for the Konshtadt Naval Cathedral in St. Petersburg.

Nicoletta Elli è una giovane artista che ha appreso la tecnica dello
smalto presso la “Bottega dello Smalto” di suor Teresa di Monza. Ha
partecipato ad alcune mostre a livello nazionale e internazionale, ha
vinto il 1° premio al concorso nazionale “Arti del Fuoco” per la sezione
smalti a fuoco.
Nicoletta Elli is a young artist who learnt the technique of enameling in
the “Bottega della Smalto” (enamel workshop) of Sister Teresa in
Monza. She has taken part in several exhibitions at a national level and
has won the First Prize in the ‘Fire Arts’ national contest, section Hot

Olga Erokhova è nata nel 1963 da una famiglia di artisti e ha studiato
arte all’Accademia d’Arte Mikhail Kalinin e all’Istituto Stroganov di Arti
Applicate. Ha appreso l’arte dello smalto da Szvetlána Tóth nel 2004
ed è attiva come scultrice e artista grafica. Ha uno studio privato a
Mosca e le sue opere sono esposte in collezioni private e musei in
Russia, Italia, Croazia e Stati Uniti.
Olga Erokhova was born in 1963 in an artists’ family and studied art at
the Mikhail Kalinin Art Academy and at the Stroganov School of
Applied Arts. She learnt the art of enamel from Szvetlána Tóth in 2004
and is also active as a sculptor and graphic artist. She has her own
studio in Moscow and her works are exposed in museums and private
collections in Russia, Italy, Croatia and the United States.

e decoratrice per la Grande Distribuzione, e dal 1990 al 2001 diviene
Responsabile Nazionale Decorazione e dal 2002 Responsabile
Packaging per la stessa azienda. Dopo la pensione nel 2014, con
entusiasmo si dedica a tempo pieno allo smalto artistico.
Born in the Modena province in 1955, Fiorenza Gavioli lives in Monza
since 1963. She receives the Artistic Diploma in 1973 in the Liceo
Artistico Preziosissimo Sangue in Monza. Since 1979 she worked as filler
and decorator for a mass retailer and from 1990 to 2001 she becomes
National Responsible for Decoration and since 2002 a Packaging
Responsible for the same firm. After her retirement in 2014, she
dedicates full-time to artistic enamel.

Jenny Gore è nata ad Adelaide in Australia. Si è formata

di Nord Adelaide e ha tenuto numerosi laboratori ed esposizioni in
Australia, USA, Inghilterra, Corea del Sud, India e in particolare a
Himmerod per l’amica Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer. Nel 2003 è stata
insignita della Medaglia all’Ordine dell’Australia per i suoi meriti
artistici.
Jenny Gore was born in Adelaide, Australia. She originally trained as a

Mechthild Häusler is one of four colleagues who started working
together at the studio ‘Feuerfarbe’ more than 20 years ago. They share
the enjoyment of combining enamels with lots of other materials. At
the moment they use mainly steel sheets for their work. All members of
this small group live in the south-west of Germany, on the River Rhein,
close to the city of Karlsruhe and the border of France.

Friedlinde Hüther ha studiato per esercitare la professione
d’insegnante nella scuola secondaria, e si è specializzata nella
pedagogia per le persone con problemi d’udito, a Heidelberg. Ha
ricevuto la sua formazione artistica a Frankenthal e Mannheim. Ha
proseguito come autodidatta ed ha un proprio studio dal 1998. Il suo
lavoro si concentra prevalentemente sulla scultura d’argilla. Ha il suo
studio privato dal 1998.
Friedlinde Hüther followed secondary teacher training in Heidelberg,
specializing in educational training for students suffering from hearing
impairment. Having received her initial artistic education in
Frankentahl and Mannheim, then settled as a self-educated artist. Her
work focuses mainly on clay sculpting. She has been running her own
studio since 1998.

Kyoko Iio vive a Matsuyama in Giappone. Ha frequentato la Facoltà
di Arti Applicate nell’Università Nazionale di Belle Arti e Musica a

Núria López-Ribalta è esperta in Belle Arti ed è stata allieva di Andreu
Vilasis. Si è specializzata in tecnica e storia della smaltatura. È curatrice
al Museo di Smalto Contemporaneo a Salou e rappresentante della
Spagna presso il C.K.I.; è co-fondatrice del CIDAE e redattrice della
rivista “L’Esmalt”. Celebre è il suo manuale “La Smaltatura a Fuoco sui
Metalli”, scritto con Eva Pascal i Miro ed edito in molte lingue.
Núria López-Ribalta is an expert in Fine Arts and has been student by
Andreu Vilasis. She is specialized in technique and history of
enameling. She is curator at the Museum of Contemporary Enamel in
Salou and the Representative of C.K.I. in Spain; she is co-founder of
CIDAE and redactor of magazine “L’Esmalt”. Nuría is also famous for
her handbook “Enameling on Metal”, co-written with Eva Pascal I Miro
and published in many languages.

Antonio Migliozzi ha studiato smaltatura artistica presso Miranda
Rognoni e Micaela Doni. Nel 1997 ha vinto la Medaglia d’Oro “Arti del

d’eccellenza dalla Regione Lombardia. Dal 2000 lavora come orefice

Renate Mikolajczyk ha avuto il suo primo contatto con lo smalto nel

Cynthia Miller è un’artista statunitense di Tucson, Arizona. Dopo la

Nata nel 1952 a Limoges, Elizabeth Pellegrini si è dedicata alla pittura
dal 1968. Ha frequentato l’atelier dello smalto Fauré e quello di Jean
Betourné, dove diventa allieva di Jean Zamora e incontra numerosi
artisti dello smalto. Nel 2007 ha partecipato alla Biennale
internazionale a Morez. Ha fondato l’associazione “Passions Créatives”
(Passioni Creative) a Couzeix con lo scopo di diffondere la tecnica
dello smalto. È presidente del CKI Francia.

predilige figure e paesaggi, continuando la lavorazione classica della
tecnica antica a terzo fuoco, producendo opere ricche di dettagli e
brillantezza dei colori.
Anna Maria Pizzagalli is a painter, miniaturist and portraitist. She lives in
Concorezzo (MB, Italy), where she works as a freelancer. She
graduated by the Institute “Most Precious Blood” in Monza. She has
been taught by Lalla Fossati. Her artistic style privileges human figures
and landscapes, continuing the classical and ancient technique of
third fire, producing works rich in details and color brightness.

Daniela Repetto è nata a Genova e si è diplomata all’Accademia di
Belle Arti di Brera. Nasce in seguito la sua passione per l’oreficeria: ha
avuto in questo campo maestri come Arnaldo Pomodoro e Mariano
Contin, in quello della smaltatura a fuoco, il maestro Luigi Barato di
Vicenza. Insegna presso la Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana a Milano. Il suo
lavoro degli ultimi anni si sviluppa da questa duplice radice artistica e
artigianale.
Daniela Repetto was born in Genova and received her diploma in the
Brera Academy of Fine Arts. She later got interested in goldsmith’s art
and had teachers in this field such as Arnaldo Pomodoro and Mariano
Contin, while she was taught hot enamels by master Luigi Barato in
Vicenza. She teaches by the Ambrosian Goldsmith School in Milan.
Her work in the last few years develops from this double artistic-artisan
root.

Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer è la fondatrice del CKI, di cui è stata
presidentessa fino al 2011. Ha ricevuto una formazione nelle tecniche
di oreficeria e smaltatura. Nel 1966 ha fondato l’Atelier Gabriele che,
nel 1979, ha acquisito la denominazione CKI, un’associazione senza
scopo di lucro per favorire gli scambi artistici e umanitari. Gertrud ha
dedicato tutta la sua vita alla divulgazione della smaltatura con
pubblicazioni e seminari in sinergia col marito August.
Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer has been the founder of CKI and was its
president until 2011. She was educated in goldsmith’s art and
enameling techniques. In 1966 she founded the Atelier Gabriele that
was later turned into the CKI in 1979 as a non-profit association for the
promotion of artistic and humanitarian exchanges. Gertrud dedicated
her life to the divulgation of enameling, publishing books and
organizing seminaries in synergy with her husband August.

María Rosa Sardá è nata a Vilafranca del Penedés (Barcellona) e fin
da giovanissima studia disegno, pittura e smaltatura presso la Scuola
Massana e lavora in seguito in un atelier, dove apprende l’arte della
miniatura a smalto. Fonda il suo atelier a Villafranca e inizia a esporre.
Nel 1974 si laurea in Belle Arti a Parigi e dal 1984 partecipa alle
esposizioni del C.K.I. Le sue opere sono esposte in tutto il mondo e, in
particolare, a Himmerod, Deidesheim e Salou.
María Rosa Sardá was born in Vilafranca del Penedés (Barcelona) and

formazione dei giovani artisti ed ha esposto in varie mostre in Italia,
Russia, Germania e Francia.
Dario Scagliotti practiced many forms of art, but was later educated
enamelling technique by the “Bottega dello smalto” (enamel
workshop) and is member of CKI; he is particularly interested in bronze
sculpture, ceramics and goldsmith’s art. He cooperates in the Enamel
Workshop of Monza in the education of young artists and has exposed
his works in Italy, Russia, Germany and France.

Larisa Solomnikova è nata a Leningrado. Dopo aver completato i suoi
studi artistici nel 1981, ha studiato Gioielleria all’Istituto Superiore d’Arte
e Design di Leningrado dedicato a Muhina. Dal 1993 lavora
autonomamente nell’atelier artistico e partecipa a mostre. È nota per
aver prodotto le icone smaltate per l’iconostasi della Chiesa del
Salvatore sul Sangue Versato di San Pietroburgo, ricostruite in base agli
originali dell’epoca.
Larisa Solomnikova was born in Leningrad. After completing her artistic
studies in 1981, she studied Jewelry at the High School of Art and
Design in Leningrad named after Muhina. Since 1993 she works on her
own in the artistic atelier and partakes in expositions. She is renowned
for the production of the enamel icons for the iconostasis of the
Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg, reconstructed
after the originals of the time.

Orlando Sparaventi ha studiato presso l’Istituto d’Arte a Pesaro e

docente in vari seminari a Himmerod, in Austria, in Spagna e a

Pál Tóth è nato nel 1957. Vive in Ungheria, dove ha studiato arti
grafiche. Ha iniziato a lavorare come illustratore e pittore. La sua
carriera di smaltatore è iniziata nel 1981. È membro dell’Associazione
degli Artisti Creativi Ungheresi dal 1981. Ha esposto le sue opere in
molte mostre nazionali e all’estero. È un artista e docente, membro del
Laboratorio Internazionale dello Smalto di Kecskemét in Ungheria dal
2006.
Pál Tóth was born in 1957. He lives in Hungary, where he studied
graphic art. He first worked as an illustrator and painter. He began his

Szvetlána Tóth è nata nella città di Orël (Russia) nel 1949 e ha studiato

Nel 1991 si è trasferita in Ungheria e dal 1994 ha iniziato a lavorare con

Szvetlána Tóth was born in Oryol (Russia) in 1949 and was educated in
art and restoration of oil paintings. She was head of the National
Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Komi for three years.
In 1991 she moved to Hungary and in 1994 she began to work with
enamel. She exposed her works in many exhibitions in France,
Romania, Hungary and Netherlands.

Katinka Waelbers (1975) works with glass, enamel (glass on metal), oil
paint and polymer. She lives in Ravenstein (the Netherlands), where
she also runs the Glass & Art studios. Themes like bio-fun (humoristic
combinations between animals and plants) and coquette feminism
define much of the work: social criticism with a wink.

Jean Zamora ha seguito i corsi di arti decorative a Limoges, dove ha
appreso la smaltatura presso gli artisti smaltatori “F.J. Carmona” e

artistica ha ricevuto il premio del pubblico delle arti plastiche del
Maine, il diploma d’onore del dipartimento dell’Alta Vienna e il Premio
Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Migliore Artista-Artigiano di Francia) nel
1976.
Jean Zamora attended the decorative arts courses in Limoges, where

Marina Zanella nasce a Milano nel 1957 e vive a Brugherio. Si è
diplomata presso il Liceo Artistico del Preziosissimo Sangue di Monza
nel 1975 e si è laureata in architettura al Politecnico di Milano nel 1980.
Nello stesso anno ha incominciato a lavorare come artista-artigiana,
dedicandosi prevalentemente alla pittura su porcellana e seta. Dopo
aver frequentato la Bottega dello Smalto di Suor Teresa, ha iniziato da
qualche anno a smaltare su rame.
Marina Zanella was born in Milan in 1957 and lives in Brugherio. She
earned her diploma by the Liceo Artistico del Preziosissimo Sangue in

La Bottega dello Smalto è un laboratorio per l’insegnamento
dell’antica arte della smaltatura, inaugurato nel 2010 all’interno del
Liceo Artistico Preziosissimo Sangue di Monza. La sua storia s’intreccia
con la figura della sua fondatrice, Suor Teresa Valsecchi (1935-2014),
che con le sue doti d’insegnante e il suo carisma artistico e umano ha
creato una delle scuole più importanti per la formazione alla
smaltatura artistica in Italia, con risultati davvero importanti.
The “Bottega dello Smalto” (Enamel Workshop) is an atelier for the
teaching of the ancient art of enameling, founded in 2010 in the
“Liceo Artistico Preziosissimo Sangue” (Monza). Its history is linked with
the life of her founder, Sister Teresa Valsecchi (1935-2014) who, thanks
to her talents of teacher and her artistic and human charisma made it
possible to create one of the most important enamel art schools in
Italy, achieving noteworthy results.

Il Dipartimento “Scuola d’Arte e Misteri” di Vicenza raccoglie e rilancia
l’eredità dell’omonima Scuola fondata dall’Accademia Olimpica nel
1858 e rappresenta il luogo del sapere pratico. Al suo interno si
propongono corsi che spaziano dalla Tradizione delle arti e dei
mestieri, orientati alla conoscenza e all’utilizzo di tecniche e materiali

Camille Fauré è un celebre smaltatore di Limoges. Nato a Périgueux
nel 1872, Fauré fa un lungo apprendistato prima di aprire il suo atelier
a Limoges, dove lavora per quasi 50 anni. Il suo atelier è stato uno dei
centri più importanti dello smalto limosino anche dopo la scomparsa
dell’artista.
Camille Fauré is a famous enamellist from Limoges. Born in Périgueux in
1872, he spent a long apprenticeship before setting up his own atelier
at Limoges, where he worked for some fifty years. His atelier has been
one of the most important centers of Limoges enamel even after the
artist’s death.

Giuseppe Guidi è stato un noto pittore, incisore, ceramista e
smaltatore attivo durante i primi decenni del secolo scorso. Nasce nel
1881 a Castel Bolognese e nel 1908 si trasferisce a Milano, dove
frequenta l’Accademia di Brera. Nel primo dopoguerra si dedica
all’arte dell’incisione, ma è solo nel 1923 che inizia a perfezionarsi nella
tecnica della smaltatura. L’anno successivo, l’artista viene notato dal
poeta Gabriele D’Annunzio che gli commissiona una Via Crucis (oggi
al Vittoriale) e altre opere che lo consacrano al successo. Giuseppe
Guidi muore a Milano nel 1931.
Giuseppe Guidi was a painter, engraver, ceramist and enameller in
activity during the early 20th century. He was born in 1881 in Castel
Bolognese and in 1908 he settles in Milan, where he attends the Brera
Academy. After the Great War, he dedicates himself to the art of
engraving, but it’s only in 1923 that he perfects in the enameling
technique. One year later, he is noticed by poet Gabriele D’Annunzio,
who commissions a Via Crucis (now in the “Vittoriale”) and other works
that consecrate the artist to fame. Giuseppe Guidi died in Milan in
1931.

Léonard Limosin è stato il più famoso in una famiglia di artisti smaltatori
di Limoges. Si crede che abbia studiato sotto Nardon Pénicaud. Le sue
prime opere autenticate formano una serie di placche raffiguranti la
Passione del Signore, datate al 1532. Già nel 1530 è entrato al servizio
della corte di Francia, come pittore e valletto di camera. Ha realizzato
molte pitture a smalto per Francesco I e il suo successore Enrico II,
specialmente grisaille e smalto dipinto. Ha prodotto oltre 2000 smalti
durante la sua carriera. La sua ultima opera porta la data 1574. È
morto verso il 1577.
Léonard Limosin was the most famous of a family of seven Limoges
enamel painters. He studied under Nardon Pénicaud. His earliest
authenticated work is a series of plaques on the Passion of the Lord
dated 1532. In 1530 he entered the service of the French court as
painter and valet de chamber. He executed many enamel paintings
for Francis I and his successor Henry II, especially grisaille and painted
enamel. He produced more than 2000 enamels during this career. His
last work bears the date 1574. He died about 1577.

GIUSEPPE MARETTO (1908 – 1984)

Giuseppe Maretto è nato a Milano nel 1908 e non conosciamo molto
della sua formazione artistica. È celebre soprattutto per la
realizzazione di sculture, ritratti e medaglie e alcune opere pubbliche.
Come smaltatore, sviluppa una tecnica particolare che chiama
champlevé a taglio molle. Alcune delle sue opere a smalto, realizzate
con la tecnica suddetta e con quella del Musenshippo (cloisonné
giapponese senza fili) sono raccolte nel libro “Qualche Smalto di
Giuseppe Maretto” del 1959. L’artista è morto nel 1984.
Giuseppe Maretto was born in Milan in 1908 and we don’t know much
about his artistic education. He is famous for the creation of sculptures,
portraits, medals and some public works. As an enamel artist, he
develops a special technique called “Soft cut champlevé”. Some of
his enamel works, produced with the aforementioned technique or
with the Musenshippo (wireless cloisonné enamel) technique have
been gathered in the book “Qualche Smalto di Giuseppe Maretto” in
1959. The artist died in 1984.

MODEST MORATÓ OJER (1909 – 1993)

Modest Morató Ojer è uno dei principali esponenti del “rinascimento”
dello smalto artistico in Spagna. Appresa l’arte orafa dal padre, a 19
anni decide di dedicarsi alla smaltatura. Studia arte presso il maestro
Miquel Soldevila e si perfeziona da autodidatta, imparando tecniche
antiche sia orientali sia occidentali, e creandone a sua volta di nuove.
Insegna per quattro anni presso la scuola Massana di Barcellona. Nel
1978 lascia l’atelier al figlio per dedicarsi esclusivamente alla
produzione artistica. È morto nel 1993.
Modest Morató Ojer is one of the most important representatives of the
enamel art renaissance in Spain. He learns goldsmith’s art from his
father but he was just 19 when dedicated his life to enamelling. He
studies art by Miquel Soldevila and perfects as an autodidact, learning
the ancient techniques, both Western and Eastern, and creating his
own. He teaches at the Massana School for 4 years in Barcelona. In
1978 he leaves his atelier to his son and dedicates himself exclusively
to his artistic production. He died in 1993.

M. MAURIS (XX secolo)
“M Mauris” è la firma di un artista francese dello smalto, attivo nel
secolo scorso e abilissimo nell’uso del cloisonné moderno. Non sono
molte le opere con la sua firma oggi note, ma sono tutte di qualità
pregevole.
“M Mauris” is the signature of a French enamellist, active during the
20th century and skilled in the use of modern cloisonné. There are only
a few works signed by him to this day, but they’re all of very fine
quality.

ETTORE PAGANINI (1922 – 1986)

Figlio di un abile cesellatore, Ettore Paganini ha dato impulso all’arte
dello smalto su rame, personalizzando le tecniche Cloisonné e
Champlevé. Frequenta l’Accademia di Brera, dove ha come maestri
Carpi, Carrà, De Amicis e Salvadori. Si diploma nel 1949 con una tesi
sull’evoluzione dello smalto nei secoli. Durante la sua attività, ha
prodotto un cospicuo numero di suppellettili sacre, oggi collocate in
chiese e cappelle private milanesi. Paganini è scomparso nel 1986.
The son of a skilled chiseller, Ettore Paganini gave a new push to the art
of enamel art on copper with his new personal take on the cloisonné
and champlevé techniques. He attends the Brera Academy and later
studies in the ateliers of Carpi, Carrà, De Amicis and Salvadori. He
graduates in 1949 with a thesis on enamel evolution through the
centuries. During his activity, he produced a huge number of sacred
furnishings, presently held in churches and private chapels in Milan. He
died in 1986.

Pierre Reymond è stato uno smaltatore francese. Reymond inizia la sua
carriera imitando le opere degli antichi maestri italiani e tedeschi, e si
è specializzato nella realizzazione di stoviglie (calici, piatti, ciotole e
vassoi) decorati con scene mitologiche. L’artista aveva un grande
atelier a Limoges e fra i suoi discepoli ricordiamo, in particolare, Pierre
Courteys. Secondo l’usanza dell’epoca, molte delle opere prodotte
nel suo atelier, sebbene non sue, portavano le sue iniziali. Reymond ha
realizzato soprattutto grisaille con tenui smalti rosa per gli incarnati, ma
ha prodotto anche un numero ridotto di smalti policromi.
Pierre Reymond was a French enamellist. Reymond began his career
imitating the works of the ancient Italian and German masters and
later specialized in the production of tableware (cups, dishes, bowls,
plates), decorated with mythological scenes. The artist managed a
large atelier in Limoges, where one of his disciples was Pierre Courteys.
As was the practice of the time, pieces produced in his atelier bore his
initials even though they were not necessarily his work. Reymond
produced mainly grisaille enamels with light rose skins for the
characters, but he painted a little number of polychrome enamels.

Questo smalto cattedrale legato al piombo, firmato “Wilhelm”, è un
bell’esempio di tecnica grisaille su vetro. Misura 50x40 cm ed è stato
realizzato nella Hoffglasmalerei Rottweil, in Germania.
This lead-bound cathedral enamel, signed “Wilhelm”, is a beautiful
example of grisaille technique on glass. It measures 50 x 40 cm and
has been created in the Hofglasmalerei Rottweil, Germany.
