ITALIANO ENGLISH FRM TUBELESS PROGRAMME FRM TUBELESS PROGRAMME - PER TRASFORMARE RUOTE NORMALI IN TUBELESS - UTILIZZO DI GOMME UST CON O SENZA LIQUIDO SIGILLANTE O DI GOMME NORMALI CON SIGILLANTE - TO CONVERT WHEELSETS FOR TUBES TO TUBELESS - ALLOWS YOU TO USE UST TYRES WITH OR WITHOUT SEALANT, AS WELL AS REGULAR TIRES WITH SEALANT WHITE TAPE e VALVOLA ARIA SPARK WHITE TAPE & SPARK AIR VALVES Solo per cerchi FRM XMD333, Notubes ZTR e Olympic, Mavic 517, 717, DT 4,1 – 4,2, American Classic Per altri modelli di cerchi non possiamo garantire la tenuta del nastro White Tape e suggeriamo l’uso del flap in gomma RRS Compatible with the following rims only: FRM XMD333, Notubes ZTR & Olympic, Mavic 517, 717, DT 4,1, 4,2, American Classic. Compatibility of the White Tape with other rims is not guaranteed. With these other rims we suggest using the RRS Rubber Rim Strips ISTRUZIONI PER TRASFORMARE CERCHI DA CAMERA D’ARIA IN TUBELESS INSTRUCTIONS TO CONVERT SELECTED RIMS FOR TUBES INTO TUBELESS 1 2 3 4 5 Sgrassare il letto del cerchio! (Product such as Brake-Cleaner can be used for this) Apply a 20cm long strip of the White Tape to the rim, covering the valve hole. IMPORTANT: no air bubbles should be present under the tape Apply one layer of White Tape to the rim with slight tension. Centre the tape in the rim cavity and press down to adhere. Start and end at the valve hole so that three layers of tape cover the hole. This helps to keep the air valve snug in its place. IMPORTANT: no air bubbles should be present under the tape. Rub with a cloth to remove any air bubbles by pushing the air out from the sides of the tape Pierce the tape covering the valve hole. Push the valve stem through the three layers of tape and secure tightly with the valve nut. Remove the valve core by unscrewing it from the valve stem TEST: mount the tyre without adding any sealant and inflate using an air-compressor to 3-4 bar (45-60 psi) without removing the compressor nozzle once inflated. If the White Tape has been aligned correctly the tyre should remain inflated for a few minutes. Deflate the tyre RRS RIM STRIP & SPARK AIR VALVE Compatible with all rims not listed in the White Tape Instructions (read the Warranty at the end of this chapter) - X-Country model, 28mm wide rim strip, compatible with 26” rims, 21,5 – 25mm wide - Freeride model, 33mm wide, compatible with 26” rims, 28 - 32mm wide - Downhill model, 38mm wide, compatible with 26” rims, 34 - 38mm wide - The complete kit is made of one 500cc bottle of FRM sealant, two RRS rim strips and two Spark air valves INSTRUCTIONS TO CONVERT MOST RIMS FOR TUBES INTO TUBELESS ISTRUZIONI PER TRASFORMARE CERCHI DA CAMERA D’ARIA IN TUBELESS ATTENZIONE: non tirare direttamente sulla giuntura incollata del flap in gomma per testarne la resistenza La giuntura potrebbe cedere se sollecitata in modo troppo violento 1 2 3 4 Pulire il letto del cerchio con alcool o altro sgrassante. Use one layer over the valve hole and pull it very tightly while applying. Overlap the tape 5cm (2 inches). Make the valve hole on the tape with a Stanley knife Put talcum powder on both sides of the rubber rim strip. It will help the rim strip fit better into the rim bed Slide the air valve into the rubber rim strip from the printed side Insert the air valve into the rim’s valve hole and, starting from the valve, stretch the rubber rim strip onto the rim so that it is equal all the way around. Often the rim strip is stretched too tightly half way around the rim on the opposite side of the valve; this causes the rim strip to be narrow in some spots. Make sure the rim strip seats just under the bead lock all around the rim Hand-tighten the threaded nut onto the air valve Install the UST or the regular tube tyre 5 6 7 8 modo da finire al suo lato opposto (quello della giuntura incollata) senza troppa tensione. In the case of UST type, the tyre can be used without the FRM sealant as the rubber rim strip / tyre bead interface seals air perfectly as UST tyres are built to hold air. Using the FRM sealant is advised as in this case the tyre is puncture protected. Follow the specific instructions of the FRM sealant In the case of regular tyres, the FRM sealant is necessary in order to avoid the air from escaping from either the tyre / rim interface or the tyre carcass. Follow the specific instructions of the FRM sealant WARRANTY: The RRS rim strip converts most rims and tyres to Tubeless but, due to the high variety of tyres and rims, some combinations may not work as well as others. On the first few rides check your tyres for air pressure and seepage from the rim. If the pressure drops too low you are running the risk of the tyre dismounting itself. As the rim / tyre combination is so wide and due to the potential improper assembly of the rim strip, we do not assume any responsibility for possible damages occurred when using this conversion system. TUBELESS SEALANT New Sealant Formula !!! After having won the Sealant Test carried out by Europe’s biggest MTB magazine, we have continued to work on improving our Sealant. As a result the sealing level has increased by 12% INSTRUCTIONS TO USE THE SEALANT ON UST OR TUBELESS CONVERTED WHEELS WITH REGULAR TYRES SIGILLANTE FRM TUBELESS Nuova Formula Sigillante !!! Rigonfiare a 3 bar (45 psi). Per la sostituzione vedi il punto 6 del paragrafo precedente 1 2 3 4 5 6 Clean the inside of the tyre with soapy water (e.g. washing-up liquid diluted in water) This operation will eliminate any grease present on the tyre that may prevent the correct functioning of the Sealant Shake the Sealant bottle thoroughly. Fill the tyre with 60-70cc of Sealant either with the FRM Syringe through the air valve with the stem core removed, or by pouring the Sealant directly into the tyre with one side slipped out of the rim. Inflate the Tyre to 3-4 bar (45-60 psi) Detach the compressor, blocking the air valve with a finger, and quickly re-screw the valve core into place so as to loose as little air as possible. Top-up to a minimum of 3 bar (45 psi) Shake the wheel thoroughly and holding it almost horizontal, tap the tyre gently on the floor, rotating it slowly as doing so. Repeat on the other side. Once sure that almost all air loss has ceased, it is advisable to ride the wheel for 10 minutes on the bike, to make sure that the Sealant is well spread around the entire wheel The air pressure inside the tyre can cause tiny holes to open in the tyre carcass in the days following the conversion. These holes are repaired by the sealant when pedalling, but can cause tyre deflation when the bike is left to rest. Do not worry if you find the tyre deflated the day after the ride. Re-inflate it, shake it horizontally while tapping it on the floor and ride it again Depending from tyre type, these tiny holes all seal after two or three times. The Sealant efficiency lasts for 30-50 days depending on the outside temperature. When replacing the Sealant, open a little section of the tyre, pour out the old sealant, pour in 50-70cc of the fresh Sealant (well shacken) and follow points 2 - 3 - 4. INSTRUCTIONS TO USE THE SEALANT ON UST OR TUBELESS CONVERTED WHEELS WITH UST TYRES With UST compatible tyres it is sufficient to insert 50cc of Sealant into the tyre and to inflate to the usual pressure. In this case the Sealant acts only for puncture-repair and has no function in sealing the tyre/rim interface. Using the Sealant with UST tyres also helps to prevent the slight air-loss often found with this type of tyres, therefore avoiding a reduction in air pressure over time.
