Le lezioni si svolgono presso le aule B e E all’interno della Città Universitaria, raggiungibili da Piazzale
Aldo Moro, prima traversa a destra (edifici con tetto azzurro); le lezioni hanno luogo nei due semestri:
ottobre – dicembre e marzo – maggio. Durante il periodo delle lezioni i Docenti osservano un orario di
ricevimento presso le stesse aule.
 CORSO DI LAUREA IN SCIENZE GIURIDICHE (3+2)
LAUREA TRIENNALE
Per il corso di studi triennale è previsto il modulo di Lingua Inglese I (6 crediti) e il modulo di Lingua
Inglese II (6 crediti). La frequenza è vivamente consigliata.
Secondo il Quadro Europeo di Riferimento per le lingue straniere (European Framework) l’esame di:
INGLESE I
equivale al livello B1 (intermedio)
INGLESE II equivale al livello B2 (post-intermedio)
Percorso formativo con il docente
Placement test. Per accedere ai corsi lo studente deve sostenere il Placement Test. Non si tratta di un esame
registrato, né di una prova d’idoneità; è uno strumento di autovalutazione per definire il livello di
competenza e indirizzare ciascuno al corso adeguato al grado di conoscenza della lingua inglese già
posseduto. Il Test deve essere eseguito prima dell’inizio dei corsi. Lo studente svolge il test
individualmente attraverso il computer utilizzando il sito di apprendimento: http://elearning.uniroma1.it/
secondo la seguente procedura: selezionare la voce “Economia” e “English”- Placement Test. Dal risultato
del Placement Test si accede ai corsi di Lingua Inglese I.
Collegandosi al sito è possibile scaricare la Scheda Studente, dove viene registrato il risultato del Placement
Test e il percorso formativo compiuto con i Docenti (l’argomento della lezione, la data e la firma del
docente). Questa scheda deve essere riconsegnata il giorno dell’esame alla Commissione.
LINGUA INGLESE I (6 crediti - B1)
Dal risultato del Placement Test si accede a
Livello 1 (pre-intermedio) con un punteggio 20-70
Livello 2 (intermedio) con un punteggio 71-90
Se si raggiunge un punteggio 91-100 si può accedere direttamente all’esame; si raccomanda tuttavia di
frequentare alcune esercitazioni di secondo livello per prendere visione del grado di preparazione
effettivamente richiesto. Per ciascun livello sono previsti più gruppi di esercitazioni, da scegliere in base alla
personale disponibilità di tempo. Ciascuno studente può frequentare uno o più gruppi. Si consiglia di iniziare
dai gruppi corrispondenti al livello risultante dal Placement Test. Ciascun gruppo incontra il docente almeno
due ore, una volta la settimana. Qualunque sia il livello d’ingresso, la preparazione richiesta per l’esame
finale (Exit Test) è di livello intermedio. L’impegno richiesto agli studenti che entrano in un livello basso è
ovviamente superiore rispetto a quello richiesto a coloro che accedono a livelli superiori.

CAMPIONE D’ESAME (Model Exit Test) E’ possibile eseguire un campione d’esame (Exit Test –

LINGUA INGLESE II (6 crediti - B2)
Il modulo introduce all’inglese specialistico per le discipline giuridiche. Gli orari delle lezioni sono affissi
in bacheca del Dipartimento, IV piano della Facoltà di Economia, e consultabili on-line. E’ possibile
sostituire il secondo esame di lingua inglese con il primo di un’altra lingua. L’esame di Inglese I è
propedeutico a Inglese II. I corsi sono attivati nel I semestre (ottobre-dicembre) e nel II (marzo-maggio).

ESAME LINGUA INGLESE II
L’esame (verbalizzato in trentesimi) consiste in una prova orale durante la quale lo studente deve
dimostrare la conoscenza della lingua inglese discutendo cinque capitoli del testo a sua scelta. Per
sostenere l’esame è necessaria la prenotazione sul sistema Infostud, da effettuare fino a 8 giorni prima
della prova. L’esame si svolge al IV piano della Facoltà di Economia, sezione di lingue, ore 10.
LAUREA SPECIALISTICA (+2) - LINGUA INGLESE III - 6 crediti - C1
Il corso di lingua inglese per la laurea specialistica è finalizzato allo sviluppo delle competenze
linguistiche scritte e orali nell’ambito dell’inglese per scopi accademici e professionali. Le attività
didattiche sono basate sull’analisi (comprensione, interpretazione e discussione) di un’ampia varietà di
testi generati da e destinati a studiosi, professionisti ed esperti nelle discipline delle scienze giuridiche. In
questo contesto la lingua inglese viene utilizzata come strumento per la letteratura scientifica
internazionale e per dibattere tematiche interdisciplinari e interculturali.
L’esame consiste in un colloquio in lingua inglese durante il quale il candidato discute otto capitoli del
testo a sua scelta. Per sostenere l’esame è necessaria la prenotazione sul sistema Infostud, da effettuare
fino a 8 giorni prima della prova. L’esame si svolge al IV piano della Facoltà di Economia, sezione di
lingue, ore 10.

COURSE OBJECTIVES AND PROGRAMMES
 DEGREE COURSE IN JURIDICAL SCIENCES (3+2)
 THREE-YEAR COURSE
The course offers two English modules: English Language I (6 credits) and English Language II (6
credits). Students are strongly advised to attend classes.
According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages, the
English Language I examination corresponds to an intermediate level of language competence,
B1; the English Language II examination corresponds to a post-intermediate level of
competence, B2.
 ENGLISH LANGUAGE I, B1 (6 credits)
SUPERVISED PRACTICE WITH TEACHING STAFF
Placement test.
Students should take the Placement Test before attending classes. This is not an examination, nor a form of
certification, but a purely diagnostic measurement designed to discover the student’s level of
competence in the language
The test is done individually on the computer using our learning website http://elearning.uniroma1.it/, and
following this procedure: select “Economia”, then “English”- then “Placement Test”. The results of the
test should be recorded on the Student Form, downloadable from the same site. This form should be kept
and filled in by course teachers with details of lessons (topics, dates, and staff signatures) and handed in
on the day of the computer examination.
According to the results of the Placement Test, students are placed at one of 2 levels:
Level 1 (pre-intermediate) with a score of 20-70 points.
Level 2 (intermediate) with a score of 71-90 points.
Students who score 91-100 can go directly to the examination. However they are advised to attend some of
the second level classes in order to check their competence against course requirements.
Practice groups are held for both levels: students can choose the most convenient for their schedules and
more than one class can be followed. Students are advised to start the course at the level diagnosed in the
Placement Test. Each group meets with a teacher for at least two hours, once a week. Irrespective of the
entry level, students should reach an intermediate level in order to take the final examination Exit Test.
Students who start at a lower level obviously should dedicate more time to prepare for the examination.

Self-study: the multimedia centre (3rd floor, Presidenza block) provides a range of materials for use in
self-study, elearning mode. Access to materials is completely free for Faculty students and available for use
within the centre’s opening times (from Monday to Friday 9.00-13.00, 14.00-17.00). Materials for the lower
levels of A1 and A2 are also available for students who need to do supplementary work. The B1 on-line
materials can be used instead of the texts recommended for use in group activities.
A license for personal use of the materials can be obtained from the company Capturator S.r.l. in the
following way: an email can be sent to [email protected] together with the student’s name, university
enrolment number and email address, after which Capturator will send a student “coupon” number together
with a “Guide to Courses and the Learning Platform”. The user then has access to the platform
http://campus.capturator.com for enrolment to the course and on-line payment of the licence. Special rates
are available for students of the Economics and the Law Faculties of the “Sapienza” University. The price of
the materials for the general public is, at present, 42 euros. As students receive a discount of 40%, the price
they pay is, therefore, 25.20 euros (including VAT), for each level.

This course is oriented towards the specialized language related to the discipline of Law. Lesson
timetables are displayed on the noticeboard in the Department, IV floor, Economics Faculty, and also
online http://elearning.uniroma1.it. It is possible to substitute the second English Examination
with the first of another language. Students must pass English I before taking English II. Courses
take place in both semesters, October-December and March-May.

FINAL EXAMINATION ENGLISH II
The examination (recorded with a mark out of 30) consists of an oral examination during which the
student should be able to discuss five chapters of the textbook, chosen by the student.
Reservations must be made through INFOSTUD and close one week before each examination date after
which it is not possible to print off student receipts.
Examinations take place IV floor, Faculty of Economics, Languages Section, from 10.00 onwards.
 SPECIALIZED DEGREE (+2 years) ENGLISH LANGUAGE III - 6 credits – C1
The English course in the specialized degree is aimed at developing written and oral competence in
English used for academic and professional purposes. The syllabus and teaching materials are based on the
analysis (comprehension, interpretation and discussion) of a wide variety of texts produced by and
directed at scholars, professionals and experts in the field of the juridical sciences. Consequently, English
is a tool for use in the international scientific community and in the discussion of subjects of
interdisciplinary and intercultural significance.

FINAL EXAMINATION
The final examination consists of an oral interview during which the candidate should be able to discuss
