REGULATION
ART. 1
The Accademia Musicale Romana, in cooperation with City of Bettona (Perugia) and the Local
Tourist of Bettona organizes the 1st International Piano Competition “Notes in Harmony” to
be held in Bettona at Sala del Cenacolo from 1 to 5 May 2013.
ART. 2
The 1st International Piano Competition “Notes in Harmony” aims to promote musical
culture by encouraging young people to study music while at the same time enhancing artistic
talent. Registration is open to young musicians of any nationality.
ART. 3
The competition is public and is divided into two Sections: Piano Solo and Piano 4 Hands:
I SECTION: Piano solo
Cat. A – from 5 to 8 years old
(free program of up to 3 minutes)
Cat. B – from 9 to 11 years old
(free program of up to 5 minutes)
Cat. C – from 12 to 14 years old (free program of up to 8 minutes)
Cat. D – from 15 to 17 years old (free program of up to 12 minutes)
Cat. E – from 18 to 21 years old (free program of up to 15 minutes)
Cat. F – from 22 to 26 years old (free program of up to 20 minutes)
Cat. G – from 27 to 35 years old (free program of up to 30 minutes)
II SEZIONE: Piano 4 Hands
Cat. H – from 7 to 11 years old
Cat. I – from 12 to 17 years old
Cat. L – from 18 to 35 years old

ART. 4
Competitors can register for their age category by referring to the calendar year.
Registration to a higher category is allowed. For competitors of Section II (Piano 4 Hands)
we will refer to the average age of the participants. it is possible to enroll in both sections.
Are not permitted transcripts and/or facilities, only transcripts of the author are allowed. For
categories F and G compositions must be played from memory.
ART. 5

ROMA deadline April 10, 2013 (will be the postmark valid).
 On line by sending the attached application form and the following documents in
pdf or jpg jpeg; to [email protected] deadline April 17, 2013.
ART. 6
Documents to attach to the application form:
- Photocopy of an identity card or passport (for children under 18 a picture and
declaration of truth signed by a parent)
- Curriculum vitae (with the name of the present teacher and teacher of the past two
years including Master Class)
- A Copy of receipt of the tuition fee paid by bank transfer on bank account held at
Accademia Musicale Romana – Banco Desio Lazio – Ag. Monteverde – Via
del Vascello, 29 - 00152 - Roma

- A list the program to execute signed by the participant or guardian.
For the category Piano 4 Hands should be completed entry form for each component.
ART. 7
Calendar and schedule will be published on the site about a week before the competition on
the website www.accademiamusicaleromana.it. The order of presentation of candidates for
the rounds will be alphabetical. Each competitor must be present on the day and time
indicated with proof of identity (for children under 18 a picture and declaration of truth
signed by a parent). Latecomers will be able to move their audition to the end of their
category; if they arrive when their category has been completed, and/or without the
document, will be excluded from the competition. Candidates must make available to the
Jury, before execution, texts used in the original edition and copy.
ART. 8
Rooms and pianos will be available to candidates with a schedule to be agreed upon with
the Secretariat during the contest. Each candidate will have the chance to try the acoustics of
the hall according to the schedule prepared by the Secretariat and published on the website
www.accademiamusicaleromana.it.

ART. 10
The contribution fee will not be refunded under any circumstances. The organizers reserves
the right to abolish one or more sections or categories of the competition if circumstances
beyond their control prevents the proper performance or if they do not hold the number of
registrations sufficient. In this case the tuition fee will be fully refunded.
ART. 11
The jury will consist of conservatory teachers and performers as well as the Artistic Director
of Competition. People who have any relationship with competitors will not be admitted to
the jury. Those who have or have had in the three years prior to the competition a teaching
relationship with any of the competitors will abstain from the specific vote; in this case the
vote of the President (or the Vice President) of the Jury will be worth double. During the
first meeting each member of the jury will issue a written statement, to the President of the
Accademia Musicale Romana, about their relationship in relation to competitors.
ART. 12
After each trial the jurors, after careful consideration, will vote through a signed statement
and after the poll the final results will be published. If a juror for any reason does not fully
assist a test of a candidate he will abstain from voting; in this case the vote of the President
(or the Vice President) of the Jury will be worth double. The Jury has the right to shorten
the execution or require repetition of the program or part there of; has the right not to award
the prize if the level is not appropriate. The first prize is indivisible, in the event of a tie will
be awarded to the youngest in the event of another tie vote shall prevail of the President (or
the Vice President) of the Jury.
ART. 13
The decision of the Jury, which will be expressed in percentages, will be the average of the
votes of all members of the Jury by removing the highest and the lowest vote. The first prize
will be considered the contestant who has reported a score of at least 97 cents. Candidates
who have achieved a mark of at least 95 cents will receive a Diploma of first Prize.
Candidates with a score between 90 and 94 cents will receive a Diploma of second Prize;
Candidates with a score between 85 and 89 cents will receive a Diploma of third Prize;
Candidates who have achieved a mark of at least 75 cents a certificate of merit with the
applicant’s score will be issued; for all others (on request with a contribution of € 15,00=) a
certificate of attendance showing the score may be issued.

Special Prize “Bettona” – Plate for the best competitor resident in Umbria
Offered by City of Bettona and Local Tourist of Bettona.
Concerts prizes awarded to the winners are offered by City of Bettona and Local Tourist of
Bettona. All candidates that will be distinguished during the Competition will be reported
for more concerts.
ART. 15
The winners, indicated by the Jury, are obliged to perform in the final Concert award of 5
May by performing the compositions indicated by the Jury under penalty of cancellation of
the award. All prizes may be withdrawn only in the awards ceremony of 5 May. The
Jury may also require the execution at the second and third prizes of one or more
compositions in the events during the course of the Competition. All performances during
the Competition are free of charge under penalty of cancellation of the award. For the Final
Concert award attire concert is required. By entering the Contest, participants agree to
any public reading of the list with an indication of the score.
ART. 16
The organizers reserve the right to make any changes to this announcement that may be
necessary to the success of the event and disclaims any responsibility for possible damages
that occur in relation to competitors and to their property during the contest. Competitors
who by their conduct damage the image and reputation of the Competition, or fail to respect
of the directions given by the organization, will be excluded from the event.

ART. 17
Participation in the competition implies the unconditional and unreserved acceptance of this
Regulation. The candidate who is not in accordance with the Regulations will lose all rights
for the Competition and will have no redress. The non-acceptance of the regulations in each
part will be excluded from the competition without being entitled to any refund. For any

ART. 18
The Accademia Musicale Romana informs that under the law n. 196/03 on the “Protection
of personal data” data provided at registration will be used only for institutional reasons and
to inform future activities of the Accademia Musicale Romana.
ART. 19
In cases of complaints and disputes only the Italian text will be considered. All matters not
provided for in this Regulation, will be regulated by laws in force in the Italian Republic. In
case of dispute the Italian text will be considered in the court of Rome.
