A ‘LARGE’ CUSTOMER PORTFOLIO “The field in which laser hardening has elicited the greatest interest is that of large molds- says Zanon- such as those for manufacturing of bumpers, automotive control boards and so on. This sector mainly uses tempered steels and require given hardnesses especially in the mold clamping area where they mint matrix and punch. Hardening meets the needs of this mold typology, and allows reducing the frequency of maintenance in production: if, for instance, a mold undergoes revision every month, after laser hardening this interval can switch to several months. Another compartment that greatly benefits from the laser hardening technology is that of molds for plates, especially for the manufacturing of large parts such as car doors, bumpers, hoods. In this case, laser hardening is used both to harden the surfaces, mainly in the areas where the plate is formed, and to maintain the corners intact. The stress of the corners in large surfaces is one of the critical points of NUOVI INVESTIMENTI PER INCREMENTARE L’ASSISTENZA STAMPI WCS “Nel 2010, - afferma Demis Zanon - in comproprietà con Daniele Rossi, Piazza Rosa ha fondato la World Client Service (WCS) con l’obiettivo di affiancare i clienti presso i loro stabilimenti dislocati nelle aree produttive del mondo, attraverso l’invio di tecnici specializzati in saldatura, lucidatura, riparazione e aggiustaggio stampi. R IN COPERTINA MERCATO PROGETTAZIONE induction hardening that hardens profiles but tends to make them resilient, with the consequent mold stop required for maintenance (welding, reconstruction, etc.). With laser hardening instead, corners remain unaltered and, as confirmed by our customers who build molds in plate, regarding this kind of problem, there is often an improvement in the performances even by 90%. The know-how and collaboration between in-house hardening, engraving and laser welding departments ensures a truly unique service with a significant added value for our customers. R NEW INVESTMENTS TO INCREASE WCS MOLD ASSISTANCE “In 2010- says Demis Zanon- in co-ownership with Daniele Rossi, Piazza Rosa has founded the World Client Service (WCS) with the goal of supporting customers in their factories located in various productive areas around the world, by sending technicians specialized in mold welding, polishing, repairing , assembly. Subsequently we understood that the current machine tools, increasingly technologic and fast, allow building a higher volume of molds by our customers; yet the assembly stage remains linked to the activity of the operators who cannot deal with the increase in productive volumes, all the more so since in the past years the professionalism of these workers has diminished. To face the lack of this link in the production-supply chain and allow our customers to increase their productive volumes we have thus decided to open a mold assembly unit close to us, with a productive area of 2000m2, just next to the Piazza Rosa premises in Vascon di Carbonera (TV). In this factory we are installing three mold assembly and maintenance cells equipped with 3 dedicated overhead cranes, 10 tons each, we are installing a press for mold clamping testing, a Millutensil 253, besides a 30/30 ton overhead crane that will serve all the productive part. Hence we decided to create a highly equipped location to support our customers, both molders as mold makers. Already during the planning stage the customer can see how many mold job orders he can handle in-house with his workers; instead of having to refuse orders that exceed his capacity he can rely on WCS which, through advanced technological equipment and an expert staff can take care of the assembly of the remaining molds. In order to enhance and increase customer assistance services around the world, in 2013 we have opened a productive site in Mexico (Queretaro), in 2014 a technical/commercial office in Turkey (Bursa) and we are evaluating a new location for the 2016-2017 biennial”.
