“S. Antonio ” church and them burnt in a cheerful atmosphere.
Gennaio
Nella prima settimana di gennaio noi studenti in Assia siamo ancora in vacanza.
Il primo gennaio è il giorno di Capodanno in Germania.
Nel mese di gennaio di solito c’è ancora la neve e fa freddo. Le strade sono ghiacciate.
Epifania in Germania:
Il 6 gennaio è la festa dei re magi. Molti bambini si vestono in costume vanno di casa in casa.
Cantano canzoni e raccolgono offerte.

Il mese di febbraio
Il 14 febbraio é la festa degli innamorati. Le coppie si incontrano in un posto
romantico. Gli innamorati si scambiano regali. Le tradizioni di questa giornata va a
un martire cristiano di nome Valentino. In alcuni paesi, il giorno di San Valentino è il
giorno degli innamorati. Il primo Giorno di San Valentino è stato celebrato nel 1383.
Da allora è un giorno importante per gli innamorati.

Il Carnevale in Germania
Il tempo di Carnevale comincia in novembre. Ma non
si festeggia fino a febbraio/marzo. In questo anno il Carnevale era in marzo.
Il Carnevale delle „femmine“
In Germania c’è qualcosa di molto speciale. È il Carnevale solomente per le donne. In una „seduta“, che è una festa in una
grande sala, ci sono solo donne. Stanno sedute tutto il tempo. Naturalmente sono in costume. Gli uomini possono entrare
solo dopo mezzanotte. Dopo si balla e si festeggia tutta la notte. Si tagliano anche le cravatte degli uomini.
Il Carnevale in Düsseldorf
L‘undici novembre alle undici ed undici comincia il carnevale a Düsseldorf con un discorso del sindaco. Migliaia di persone in
costume lo ascoltano e dopo festeggiano nei bar. Il periodo di carnevale si chiama anche „la quinta stagione“.

La Pasqua in Germania
La parola tedesca che indica la Pasqua deriva dal nome dell’antica divinità
germanica della primavera: Eostre.
La festa in Germania ha mantenuto uno carattere pagano, di festeggiamento
dell’arrivo della primavera e del rinascere della natura.
Alla vigilia della Pasqua in molte città ci sono dei mercati dove si possono
trovare decorazioni, dolci e tutto quello che serve per abbellire le case. Le
finestre vengono decorata con disegni di coniglietti, uova e altre cosi; nei vasi si
mettono alcuni rami lunghi che vengono poi decorati con uova colorato.
La domenica di Pasqua è il giorno in cui i bambini vanno alla ricerca delle
uova (I genitori nascondono nel giardino o in casa delle uova di cioccolato o uova
sode colorate).
Il coniglietto pasquale ha origine dai riti pagani pre-cristiani sulla fertilità.
Poichè per tradizione il coniglio e la lepre sono gli animali più fertili in assoluto,
essi divennero fin dall'antichità il simbolo del rinnovamento della vita e della
primavera.
May, Patronal feast of “San Giustino”
Every year, in May in occasion of the Patron saint “San Giustino” a feast called “Maggio
Teatino” is organized. It provides very strong calendar of events in the squares,
neighborhoods, streets in the historical centre of Chieti as well as in the “Teatro
Maruccino”. The appointments are various; there are several evocative events such as
the medieval historical reconstruction of the flag-wavers parade, the “Giostra del
Saracino” and the procession of the patron saint, followed by a costume medieval
parade. There are also many musical and sporting events (football, tennis, horse riding,
volleyball and athletics) , cultural events and night shows.

The Republic day is celebrated on 2nd of June in memory of the origin of the Italian Republic.
In 1948 on 2nd and 3rd June the Italian people voted to express which form of government, Monarchy or Republic, had to be given
to the country, after the drop of the fascism.
After 85 years of Monarchy, Italy became a Republic.
Worldwide Iitalian embassies take a celebration where the State leaders of the countries are invited.
Every year in June at“ Fori Imperiali” in Rome a military parade occurs and during the deposition of the crown of laurel all the
Armed Forces take part.

July is the month where the major part of us attendig the 3B Iter celebrates the birthday.
This is a good reason to eat pizza with friends, go out at night, organize parties, go to
the disco where the celebrating guy offers something to drink to friends, has dinner
with his/her family or make a journey. Some of us bring some pizza, sweets and drinks
to school to celebrate with teachers, too.

AUGUST
San Lorenzo's night is on 10th August. A lot of people in Italy look at the sky to see shooting stars. This night is dedicated at
San Lorenzo's martyrdom and the stars are the tears that the Saint paid during his agony, and the tears wander eternally in
the sky; and down to earth until the day when Lorenzo died, creating a magical atmosphere of hope. In this night, we can
express wishes and maybe it will be true.
In a lot of country in our region like Pretoro and Francavilla al Mare we celebrate San Lorenzo's night;
in Pretoro the celebration during three nights: in this nights people walking around the country, eating typical products and
drinking wine and beer; who wants can go up on the mountains and see shooting stars. While in Francavilla al Mare at San
Lorenzo's night people meet on the beach and they waiting half past eleven and they throw lanterns in the sky expressing
their wishes.

Il 23 Settembre è l'inizio dell'autunno.
In autunno le foglie cambiano colore degli alberi e il tempo diventa più fresco.
È anche possibile in autunno far volare aquiloni.
Il tempo può essere molto variabile.

There are no particular national festivities in our country in September, but in
Abruzzi we have some interesting local feasts, which we call ‘sagre’, where we can
taste traditional products of the place or traditional meals. One of these is the
feast of saffron in Navelli, a small town in the mountains, where people can enjoy
themselves tasting good meals prepared with this product; or the so called
‘Settembrata Ripese’, which takes place in another small town, Ripa Teatina, and
coincides with the festivity of the patron Saint. People, dressed in the traditional
costumes of old Abruzzi peasants, dance in the streets and taste
local typical products, while from the various quarters some allegorical pageants
come to the centre and show the miracles of the Patron Saint.
Oktoberfest
Una festa molto popolare in ottobre è la „Oktoberfest“. La festa ha oltre 200 anni. La
Oktoberfest originale e‘ solo a Monaco di Baviera, in Germania.
All‘ Oktoberfest si beve molta birra e si mangia „Haxen“(Una specie di ossobuco).

In Abruzzi it’s vintage time. All the hills around
Chieti are famous for their production of wines, and
people enjoy themselves gathering grapes and tasting
local food. In Chieti, in particular, there are some
local feasts taking place in the various quarters ,
such as the celebration of ‘The Virgin Mary of
Victories’. On 31st October children and teens
celebrate Halloween with parties and ‘trick or treats’
all around the various zones of the city.

09/10 novembre 1989: Caduta del muro di Berlino
Nella notte dal 9 al 10 novembre 1989 il muro di Berlino è caduto.
Dopo 28 anni la Germania è di nuova unita.

On 2nd November we dedicate the whole day to the
‘dead people’, visiting the tombs of the members of our
families or of friends and praying for them. It is a sort
of ‘memory day’, an occasion for families to join
together in their places of origin, coming from the
various parts of the country . In the hills around Chieti
vintage continues, and in the mountains there are a lot
of feasts ( in Carsoli there is the ‘Feast of Agorà’)
which attract a lot of people, promoting the artistic and
cultural richness of our region.

La vigilia di Natale si chiama "heilig Abend" che significa notte santa
Di sera si prepara l’albero di Natale. Tutti le candele ardono sulla corona dell’Avvento. La corona dell’Avvento ha quattro candele.
La prima candela si accende la prima settimana d’Avvento. La seconda settimana si accende anche la seconda candela e così via.
Nella notte del 6. Dicembre il „Nikolaus“ viene. È la Befana tedesca, però è un uomo .
December
On 8th December Italians celebrate the ‘Immacolata Concezione’, a
religious Christian festivity recalling the moment in which the Virgin
Mary was announced she would become the Holy Mother of Jesus. In
some Abruzzi small towns, grandmothers tell stories and prepare eight
different courses with vegetables and fish, while in the gardens a big
fire burns in honour of the Holy Mother. For Italian families it is the
day of the beginning of Christmas decorations of homes; Christmas
trees are decorated on this date. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are
particularly celebrated because at midnight people go to the Mass of the
Nativity, then Santa Claus arrives for children and families meet around
richly decorated tables, often with kins and friends, and sing Xmas
carols, taste ‘panettone’ and ‘pandoro’ and other traditional sweets and
cakes, exchange presents and play bingo.
