La sagra
La sagra is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in traditional Italian food and culture.
It's basically a fair organized by a local village in which traditional food and events like music concerts are organized. It usually takes
place in summer time as Italians love to enjoy the weather outside.
The big colorful posters, spread everywhere in the area (even along the highway) usually introduce what kind of fair is: generally it's
related to food, like la sagra del tortello, a kind of pasta typical of the Emilia-Romagna area.
Eating local food at a long shared table with locals is the main pleasure of the event. It is usually prepared in the old style of cooking and
just for the pleasure of having families and the community all together.
