1 - INTRODUCTION
Static load tests on two pre-stressed
concrete beams,
type "LOCRETE
ELEMENT", identified as "Specimen A" and "Specimen B" with pre-stressing force
respectively of6.0 t and 7.0 t have been carried out in a period between 10th November
and 14th December 2005. The customer was NORDIMPIANTI SYSTEM S.R.L.
The scope of the tests was to determine the mechanical behaviour of the
structures being tested under loads in accordance with the specifications of the norm
ACI 318M/95 reproduced in the Enclosed Document II of this Report.

4 - DESCRIPTION
4.1-Loading

AND INSTRUMENTATION

The supports of the prefabricated elements, each with length of cm 600, have
been placed at a distance of cm 590 and have been realized with a smooth steel bar of
mm 16 diameter.
The test loading loading has been obtained with two 25 t oleodynamic jacks
ENERP AC with 50mm maximum extension. The jacks, connected in parallel to a
Hydraulic
circuit, are equipped with spherical joints to assure perfectly vertical
loading. A load cell HBM with 2.0 kN maximum loading has been placed on top of
one of the two jacks and connected to an
electronic acquisition device of HBM
manufacture, with calibration expiring on 06/04/2006, to measure the applied load.
The 4 concentrated loads, realized by means of the two jacks, have been placed
at distances of 147.5 cm from one another and at a minimum distance from the
centerline of the beam of 73.75 cm. A metallic structure has been placed between the
jacks and the beam to distribute the load of the jacks.
The loads have been applied on the beam by means of smooth steel bars with 16

PROCEDURE SUMMARY
Following the Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete AC1318M/95, a pre-cast
element to be made composite with cast in place concrete shall be permitted to be tested in
flexure as a pre-cast element alone, as stated in article 16.10. The value of Test Load shall
be calculated following the condition that the stresses in bottom fiber induced in pre-cast
element alone, during the Load Test, shall correspond to the stress in composite member
under the Test Load required by Code article 20.3.2:
TEST LOAD = 0.85 ( 1.40 DL + 1.70 LL)

1. The Locrete L=5.9m shall be subject of the Load Test with topping poured. Only one
element shall be tested.
2. At the time of performing the Load Test the min. age of concrete shall be 28 days.
3. Required value of Test Load is q Test = 55.575 tim' with equivalent two concentrate load of
P1=164 kg (as shown on sketch last page for load test requirements of the excel file).
4. The Load Test shall be in accordance with enclosed Method Statement.
5. Expected deflections under the Test Load are in range of 13.55 mm. Since The
Acceptance Criteria is allowing 10.50mm the residual deflection shall govern.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR FFTT1 SLAB LOAD TEST
(Ref. ACI 318M/95, art. 16.10 and 20.)
1. GENERAL
1.1 The Load Test shall be performed on pre-cast element with topping poured. No more
than 1 NOS. slabs shall be loaded during the load test.

3. TEST LOAD APPLICATION
3.1 Verify the density of material to be used as a Test Load and determine overall depth of
intill considering the required Test Load of 55.575 kg/m' or two concentrate force
P1=164 kg as shown on sketch (page ).
3.2 Apply Test Load in four equal increments, avoiding shock to the structure and arching of
used material.
3.3 Verify the uniformity of the load and take the readings for each load increment.
4. TEST LOAD REMOVAL
4.1 Applied Test Load shall be kept in position at least for 24 hours.
4.2 Take additional reading prior to remove the Test Load as deflection 6max representing
the base value for the Load Test Acceptance Criteria.
4.3 Remove the Test Load immediately after the reading is taken.

5. INSPECTION OF OBTAINED LOAD TEST RESULTS
5.1 In case the reading from section 4.2 satisfies the Acceptance Criteria (L1max~10.50mm)
and no evidence of element failure is present, obtained results shall be considered
satisfactory.
5.2 In case the reading for L1max
does not satisfy the Acceptance Criteria (L1max>10.50mm)
additional reading shall be recorded 24 hours after the Test Load removal, representing
the value L1rmax
for residual deflection.
5.3 The Load Test results shall be acceptable if (L1r max~ L1max/4) giving the min 75 %
deflection recovery in addition to absence of any evidence of element failure.
6. REPEATED LOAD TEST
6.1 If the results are not complying to the Acceptance Criteria the Load Test shall be
repeated not earlier than 72 hours after the initial Test Load removal.
6.2 Repeated Load Test shall fully comply to sections 3, 4 and 5 from this Method
Statement.
6.3 Final residual deflection recorded during the repeated Load Test must show min 80 % of
deflection recovery in order to be considered satisfactory.
