He comes from Rhodes, his home island, and
crosses the skies on his golden chariot drawn
by winged horses.
His dazzling light however, irritates even the
gods’ eyes. "Sunglasses are a smart invention,"
whispers Artemis, gazing at the beauty and
grace of the Sun in his glorious garments
flowing in the wind. His glance is set ablaze
when he hears that humans blame him for
premature eye cataract, skin aging and skin
cancer.
"The human is a funny species," rosy-cheeked
Eos (Dawn) remarks with a smile. She is the
Sun’s younger sister, who brings daylight to the
humans every morning and sends away the
darkness. "They may adore me as a god, and
recognize they cannot live without the warmth
and oxygen I offer them, but that doesn’t stop
them from blaming me unfairly,’’ she
complains.
Almighty Zeus pats the eagle perched by his
side and says to the Sun in his quiet yet
