Presentazione
“Poesie di uno Scultore - seconda parte” più che il seguito di “Poesie di uno
Scultore” (ed. Del Grifo 2005) ne è l’evoluzione. Questa selezionata raccolta di
Poesie ed Opere Scultoree di Pietro Spedicato è un’ inno alla condizione
umana, preservando una memoria creatrice ed invitando ad una innovazione
creativa, un viaggio misterioso alla scoperta di ciò che era e ciò che potrà
essere, in un turbinio di sogni, talvolta contornati di luci abbozzate e di ombre
fragorose.
L’autore, con questo suo componimento, invita le vecchie e le nuove
generazioni ad un profonda riflessione sul proprio “essere” e tuttavia spinge
gli animi a sognare coraggiosamente un nuovo “divenire” intriso di mistero e di
libertà. Quest’opera di Pietro Spedicato non è solo un retaggio, ma è la sua
carezza che invita ad un percorso di esperienze intense, esperienze nel bene e
nel male Importanti, la meta rimane tuttavia ignota e nel bene come nel male

Presentation
“Poems of a Sculptor - part two”, rather than the continuation of "Poems of a
Sculptor" (ed. Del Grifo 2005) is its evolution. This selected collection of
poems and Sculptural Works of Pietro Spedicato is a hymn to the human
condition, while preserving a memory creative and inviting for a creative
innovation, a mysterious journey to discover what was and what will be, in a
whirlwind of dreams sometimes surrounded by sketched lights and roaring
shadows.
The author, with this poem, invites old and new generations to a deep reflection
on your "to be", and yet boldly pushes people's minds to dream a new
"becoming" full of mystery and freedom. This work by Pietro Spedicato is not
only a heritage, but it is his caress that calls for a path of intense experiences,
good and bad experiences but Important, the target, however, remains

Chi si trova a tradurre un testo deve necessariamente e spesso fare delle scelte
difficili, soprattutto quando, come in questo caso, si traducono componimenti
poetici; non è quasi mai possibile ottenere una perfetta corrispondenza tra testo
originale e testo tradotto a causa di frasi tipiche , licenze poetiche etc…
In questo caso, ho affrontato questa “chimera” al meglio delle mie possibilità;

città. Nel 49-50 soggiornò a Parigi
per motivi di studio. DaI 1950
insegna presso I’ ist. Statale d’Arte
di Lecce. Sia come scultore che
come pittore è riuscito in pochi anni
ad inserirsi validamente, per la sua
spiccata personalità, nei movimenti
artistici Italiani del dopoguerra.

city. In the years 49-50 he lived in
Paris for the sake of study. From
1950 he teaches at the School of
Arts in Lecce. Both as a sculptor
than a painter he was able to fit in a
few years validly, for his strong
personality, in the Italian post-war
arts movements.

Fra gli artisti contemporanei che
mostrano chiari segni di riferimento al’
Arte Cicladica, le sculture di Pietro
Spedicato mostrano ancor più evidenti
i termini di un’analogia che, lungi dal
volere rinnovare quella lontana tecnica
descrittiva per una problematica
figurativa, è partecipazione spontanea
all’estetica antinaturalistica. Gioco
sapiente dei volumi ridotti a forme
cilindriche, audace deformazione a
ritmo ascensionale, tendenza alle
forme geometriche del trapezio, del
rettangolo e del triangolo, sono le
significante attraverso le quali questo
scultore
esprime
spiritualità
primordiali. Sintetismo e schematicità,
dunque sono alla base di questa
scultura fatta di linee purissime ed
eleganti di arcaica prolissità dalle
mistiche risonanze spirituali. Le statue
in terracotta o in cera di Spedicato
sanno cogliere tipici atteggiamenti
umani, intrinseci valori individuali ed
essenzialità sociali.

made of pure lines and elegant archaic
verbiage from the mystical spiritual

Il Cero (o Cereo) pasquale ricorda
la luce di Dio nella pasqua di
liberazione del popolo ebreo dalla
schiavitù d’Egitto ed è il simbolo
liturgico del Cristo Risorto,
vincitore delle tenebre e della
morte, sole che non tramonta.
Durante il tempo pasquale, nei
battesimi e nelle esequie è acceso
per visibilizzare la presenza
efficace del Risorto. La nota dei
vescovi italiani del 31/5/1996, per
l’adeguamento delle chiese
secondo la riforma liturgica, al n.
18, dispone che il Cero stia
“accanto all’ambone per il tempo
liturgico opportuno”.
Easter Candle (or Cereus) Holder
reminds the light of God's
Passover liberation of jew people
from slavery in Egypt and is the
liturgical symbol of the Risen
Christ, winner of darkness and
death, the sun never sets. During
Easter time, baptisms and funerals
it is on to visualize the effective
presence of the Risen One. The
note of the Italian bishops of
05.31.1996, for the adaptation of
churches according to the
liturgical reform, at no. 18,
provides that the candle must be
"next to the lectern to the
liturgical time needed".

Per questo ci è sembrato
opportuno proporre un portacero
che raccontasse la STORIA
DELLA SALVEZZA dell’uomo,
dalla creazione alla risurrezione.
Le immagini sono collocate su tre
piani lungo le tre facce del
portacero: il piano inferiore ne
racconta l’inizio; la creazione (a),
la prima famiglia e il primo
fratricidio (b), il peccato originale
e la cacciata dal paradiso terrestre
(c. Il piano centrale passa al
secondo tempo, la scelta del
popolo ebreo: il sacrificio di
Isacco e la vittoria di Davide su
Golia (e), Giacobbe coi dodici
figli nel gesto di bènedire Giuda, i
quattro profeti maggiori (f). In
questo stesso piano c’è il pannello
(d): la torre di Babele e l’arca di
Noé: è collegato in verticale col
pannello (b) (Adamo ed Eva,
Caino e Abele) e col pannello (g)
(Annunciazione-presentazione).
Questa scelta indica la
progressione dei tre momenti della
salvezza: prima famiglia che
raccoglie il frutto dell’odio
fraterno; famiglia purificata dal
diluvio universale; la nuova “sacra
famiglia” di Nazareth, offerta da
Maria e Giuseppe a Dio.

holder that tell the HISTORY OF
SALVATION of man, from
creation to resurrection. The
images are located on three levels
along the three sides of the Candle
Holder: the lower level deals with
the beginning, the creation (a), the
first family and the first fratricide
(b), the original sin and the
expulsion from Paradise (c. The
middle level switch to the second
time, the jewish people's choice:
the sacrifice of Isaac, and the
victory of David over Goliath (e),
Jacob's with his twelve sons in the
gesture of blessing Judah, the four
major prophets (f). At this same
level there is a panel (d): the
Babel’s Tower and Noah’s Ark: it
is connected with the vertical
panel (b) (Adam and Eve, Cain
and Abel), and with the panel (g)
(The Annunciation-presentation.)
This choice indicates the progress
of the three moments of salvation:
first family that gathers the fruit of
fraternal hatred; family purified
from the great flood, and the new
"holy family" of Nazareth, offered
by Mary and Joseph to God

L’opera, nata dal cammino di fede
della parrocchia, è stata realizzata
dall’artista leccese prof. Pietro
Spedicato, poi fusa nel bronzo
(pesa tre quintali). L’altezza
massima, seguendo la linea curva
delle facce, è di cm. 185, in
verticale è di cm. 175. Ognuna
delle tre facce misura alla base
inferiore cm. 83 e alla superiore
cm. 34. La scritta STORIA
DELLA SALVEZZA è fusa in
una fascia, pure di tre lati, ognuno
dei quali misura cm. 3 x 32. Le
singole facce del tubo portacero
misurano cm. 20 x 23.
The upper level ends the Story
with Jesus Christ: The
Annunciation-presentation (g);
Last Supper - Jesus embraces the
cross (h) deposition (s). The
Easter Candle - the Risen Lord - is
engaged in a tube with threesided, embossed, symbols of the
monogram of Christ, of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus that breaks
the sin’s chain, the symbol of the
Eucharistic bread and wine with
fish (in greek
acrostic which
translates as: Jesus Christ, Son of
God, Saviour).
The work, created by the path of
faith of the parish, was created by
Prof. Pietro Spedicato, artist by
Lecce, then bronze casted (weight:
about 600 pounds). The maximum
height, following the curved line
of the faces, is cm. 185, in vertical
cm. 175. Each of the three faces
measure to the lower base cm. 83
cm and above cm. 34. The written
HISTORY OF SALVATION is
cast in a band, also from three
sides, each measuring cm. 3 x 32.
