OTHER EYES Synopsis Enrico is a physiotherapist but as soon as he can he goes off on a sailing boat, Giovanni is a small entrepreneur, he is a passionate skier and loves enjoying life, Felice is a sculptor who plays baseball, Luca is a musician who loves photography, Loredana is a telephone operator and a keen archer, Mario is a sport fanatic retired telephone operator, Gemma studies the cello and does sky races… Different eyes tells the “everyday adventures” of a group of people who have something in common: their blindness. They live with the handicap which scares the most all of us who can see. But they live with a serenity, a passion and a courage that make their lives richer than many other. Director’s notes I've always been fascinated by the worlds I don't belong to, by those realities that we have on our fingertips yet we know very little about. There is always so much to learn from whoever is different from us and sometimes the journey becomes a constant discovery. This film was conceived after meeting Enrico, a blind physiotherapist. The things he told me, his lightness, his irony, his capacity to live his own life, had a deep impact on me. I began to explore this world along with Giorgio Garini, we met with other visually impaired persons who would allow us to get into their lives and help us understand how it is possible -‐ not seeing -‐ to do all the things they were able to do. It has been a journey filled with astonishment. Before starting we knew that our venture would have taught us new things; but we were certainly not prepared to the overwhelming emotions and the level our admiration could reach. It's them -‐ who can't see -‐ that make us change our look on life and on the world. 4
