Attrezzi Agricoli. Pino Pascali. woods, variable dimensions, 1968. The tool's dance The tool's dance is a research to be developed working with the land as a farmer and from this condition to study, map and collect past and present gestural data created by the farmers engaged in the countryside; the intent is to show how such gestures have actually changed with the introduction of the machinery, no longer than two centuries ago, and then dealing with a gradual stiffening and inability of the body. Studying the principal western cultivations, willing to identify, in terms of diffusion and general use, the greatest technical and technological evolutions for every crop culture. This study gives the definition of the specific time strings from which the specific gestural sequences, that identify the sequence of gestures produced by the farmer from the preparation of the ground to the harvest, are extrapolated. Such gestures are finally filed in a video format. Simbolically, the project begins with the reactivation of the choreographic potential present in a series of agricultural utensils Attrezzi agricoli realized by Pino Pascali (1935 -1968) and used for the 16mm video-performance Skmp2 by Luca Maria Patella, in 1968, and partly for the performance entitled Ma si redime la terra, si fondano le città (earth is redeemed, the cities are founded) in the Fabio Sargentini’s gallery L'Attico in Rome. Skmp2 by Luca Maria Patella. Stillvideo. 1968. A SPAGLIO/ sowing by hand CURA COLTIVAZIONE/ crop cleaning The tool's dance | The time strings and the gestural sequences The research focused on wheat and with the advice of the teacher in Agricultural Mechanization Marco Bentini (Faculty of Agriculture, Bologna), the support of the old farmer Bruno Rossato and his wife Antonietta, the study of tools stored in the Museum of agricultural culture - Villa Smeraldi in Bentivoglio - (Bo), have identified the main stages of diffusion technical innovations applied to wheat. OURS AND SECOND SKIN short story printed on cow hide Nico Angiuli has thought of a new production dynamic asking each person participating in the project to introduce themselves with an object or a symbol that represents their relationship with their mansion. Everybody's symbol contributed then in the creation of a collective story. The text was then inserted in a new color swatch similar to that of the entreprise promotion: on pieces of cow hide are printed some employees' skin snapshots. The aim is to highlight the close and perhaps controversial relationship between life and work. The project is achieved in cooperation with the tanning industry Grouppo Mastrotto spa. as part of the Festival Città Impresa 2011. Pino Pascali's reincarnation on two wheel The artist Pino Pascali died in 1968 at only 33 years old in an accident on his motorbike. Wearing the mask used by Pascali in 1965 (which gave a symbolic death to the public in front of an Requiescat that he realized for a exhibition at the Plinio De Martiis Gallery). I interpret the artist who enters the gallery running, like when in the motorcycle, and after some minute I stop to draw on the wall some of his unrealized projects kept in a notebook now owned by a private collector in Rome. This performance achieved in Venice, is the first stage of the big project where i realize his unrealized project. Some of this project are: Foresta calda, verde, Corde di sabbia, Le Tavole della Legge. One of the Pascali's unrealized projects. 1968. Pascali write a postcard the August 18, 1967 for his friend and art critic Cesare Brandi, informing him of the incident where he was victim, nothing serious says Pascali on the postal card, exactly one year later he died in an very similar accident on his motorcycle. The postcard accompanied the photograph to creates a framework in which the fact of their August 30, 1968 - the day of the accident in motion - seems to have gone another way. Il pacco installato a parete diventa così una scultura sonora relazionale. listen the audio here: http://www.fondazioneclaudiobuziol.org/docs/Paccocelere_Plus.aif Paccocelere1 Plus#2. A few days after my transfer from Adelfia in Venice in 2007, my mother began to send large packs filled with food and clothing, even a desk fan in the hot summer of 2008. The liturgy of the package begins in southern Italy a week before sending it. My mother prepares a list of food, then goes to the market. My sister confirms that in the pack my mother would like to put a coat "fa freddo" but has to desist because the package is full, then goes to the post-office for sending the pack with the service Paccocelere1 plus and waits for my call to confirm the receipt of the package. My mother loads the package with food but also with meaning, all this preserves in her the maternal role, which is for both of us a daily poetic gesture. The objective difficulties of delivering a box weighting more than 30 kg in a city like Venice, makes me decide to receive "my mother" directly on the site where the project is invited to be exhibited. In the box emptied by the food I install the sound of the telephone calls between us till the delivery of the parcel. The pack is installed on the wall and becomes a relational sound sculpture. What’s the position of someone who works, asking not to be remunerated? Nico Angiuli, for a few weeks, is an assistant at the grocery market, but deliberately with no remuneration. He carries handcarts, prepares stalls, cuts and wraps up goods. Sometimes he isolates himself and writes a diary. When somebody asks for explanations he replies: “I’m here to understand, it’s my choice”. Cesare Pietroiusti Ma vai a lavorare!. Angiuli at work. Venice. Photo L. Bertarini. 2008. Ma vai a lavorare! Angiuli at work. Venice. Photo L. Bertarini. 2008. Fabrizio sorride [...] Ma vai a lavorare!. Angiuli at work. Venice. Photo L. Bertarini. 2008. Go workin'! Extracts from the diary wrote in Rialto, Venice I write from the 1161 in Calle Zorzi, San Marco district, where I live. These are the first lines of a black covered notebook, with an oval form in its centre, slightly moved to the upper side, where I wrote: ‘Ma vai a lavorare! – Come on, go working!’ Venice, Saturday, 22-11-2009 I’m home, this morning at the Rialto's market I met Fabrizio – the owner of a stall at grocery's market- and we made some arrangements. Venice, Wednesday, 25-11-2009 It’s ten p.m., in a few hours - in the middle of the night - I’ll have to wake up to meet Fabrizio in Piazzale Roma, at around four a.m. 4.45 am To be in time I woke up at 2.45 a.m. and now that I am at the meeting point in Piazzale Roma Fabrizio is not here. I’ve been looking for him for more than half an hour – it’s 4.10 am He forgot me or maybe did he change his mind? Whatever the reason, I don't want to go back home and I decide to walk towards Rialto, I cross the Calatrava's Bridge, I meet a few hungry mice and people sleeping at the railway station: I walk through the city, at this time is humid and silent. From Piazzale Roma, walking fast, I can reach the Rialto market, where Fabrizio prepares his fruit and vegetable stall. 9.19 am The market wakes up. The gulls, early risers, replace the mice. The merchants at 7 a.m. prepare the stalls and I look for Fabrizio amongst coffee, fruit, croissants, calls... I ask his colleagues about him and I convince myself that he would not appear, and I stay around his stall. After 7.30 a.m. Fabrizio comes over, carries the carts to transport the fruit, there’s also his assistant Matteo. I get close, Fabrizio is surprised to see me, he’s embarrassed because he realizes he stood me up five hours before in Piazzale Roma. He invites me for a coffee, I don't need any more caffeine, but I understand it is the right moment to explain my intentions to him and at the bar I start: “ My idea is to work a little bit in the market, at your stall, for a series of reasons, not for money: give you a hand for what I can do, and at the same time to understand the rhythms of the market , get to know the story, to have a break sometimes for writing, ask you some questions, draw, capture the sense of my presence.” – Fabrizio smiles.[...] The attempts to find nowadays the ethic and religious contradictions whose victim was Galileo Galilei, are the basis of the first phase of this work that Nico Angiuli develops in the form of a casting for a possible film Abolito il ccielo loosely based on Bertolt Brecht's Life of Galileo. Behavioral and attitudinal characteristics of the main characters are extrapolated from the book of Brecht and then mentioning them in the manifesto inviting to do the casting for the film, some problems that still exist in contemporary society: The today's Galileo is, for the artist, a precarious researcher, perhaps opposed by the Church for some of his positions, for instance, regarding the staminal cells. Prerogative of these pseudo actors should not be an aesthetic adherence to the characters wanted by the director, rather than a human character closeness to the characters described by Brecht. The project takes place in the city putting up the 70x100 cm poster in the centre of Parabita, in South Italy. At the end of the 1800, the engineer Evaristo de Chirico built the railway Milies-Volos to join the Gulf of Pagasitikos with Mount Pelion. The landscape, the tracks, the architecture of the bridges, the smells, the sounds of the valley, the smoke of the locomotive and the funny train - that climbs the mountains of Pelion were sources of inspiration for the de Chirico brothers, sons of Evaristo. Their work is proof of this contemplation. The guide, the film, the territorial analysis will permitt to "cross" the railway. The route of the railway will be like a fictional film that runs on two parallel tracks of history, landscape and contemporary art. Ilmotorediricerca Roberto Dell'Orco. Performance for Adelphia.
