in the 1898/99 edition of Lloyd’s Register of Yachts. With a colourful and intruiging history, JAVELIN even won the
second prize in the ocean race from Cowes to Waymouth at the turn of the last century.

To restore a boat means bringing it back to a new life without changing its soul or character. All the work on JAVELIN is
based on these principles and the necessity to make concessions to modern times has been kept as discrete as possible.
Original features such as the lady's bath in the Master Cabin and a fireplace in the Main Saloon make Javelin less a yacht
and more an experience in the best of another era.

History: Arthur Edward Payne detto il piccolo Payne in quanto fratello minore di John e figlio di Alfred Payne gia’
fondatore del cantiere nel 1845, era noto ed apprezzato per essere uno dei tre migliori designers dell’epoca assieme a W.
Fife e a G.L. Watson il padre del Britannia. Durante la sua breve ma intensa vita ( muore a 45 anni nel 1903 ) A.E.P.
disegna oltre 160 barche di cui molte celebri ed alcune ancora operative ai giorni nostri:
Willo Wren un gaff ketch del 1886 costruito sulle linee di un veloce scafo pilota, Cariad II un gaff ketch di oltre 100 piedi
costruito per lord Dunraven nel 1896. Nel 1898 partecipa alla regata Vasco de Gama da Lisbona all’India e la
vince,Artemis splendido gaff yawl ….. Javelin viene progettata da AEP e costruita nel suo famoso cantiere Summer
&Payne per E R T Croxall proprietario e residente nel maniero di Aldridge nello Staffordshire in Inghilterra. Fino al
1948 questo splendido ketch aurico resta di proprietà di nobili o facoltosi borghesi inglesi e ne troviamo traccia nei registri
di vari prestigiosi Yacht Clubs Dal 1950 la barca si trova in Mediterraneo, ma la sua storia si fa più nebulosa, eccetto la
sua appartenenza al Real Club Nautico di Barcellona. Nel 2002 viene acquistata da un colto e appassionato armatore che
predisporrà il suo totale restauro ,la ristrutturazione e l’adeguamento ai tempi moderni grazie a funzionali e aggiornati
impianti senza alterare l’estetica degli interni. La prima parte di lavoro di struttura viene eseguita in Spagna sotto il diretto
controllo dell’armatore, poi la barca viene trasferita ai Cantieri Alto Adriatico di Monfalcone, dove oltre allo studio
Faggioni, anche Carlo Sciarrelli partecipa a contribuire alla progettazione del restauro, e sarà uno dei suoi ultimi interventi
prima di lasciare un gran vuoto nella nautica.
