Queen Choral Festival and Competition
The International Choral Festival Queen of the Adriatic Sea is a competitive event that takes
place in Cattolica and in some wonderful places of Romagna Region. The Festival is part of
the Rimini International Choral Competition, a competitive festival which takes place the last
week of September of every year.
The festival programme includes the Competition at the magnificent Cattolica Queen’s Theatre
(Teatro della Regina), a concert at the historic Cathedral of St. Leo, as well as a common
service to be sung at the Catholic Church. Not only concerts but also the opportunity to stay on
the Adriatic Coast, in particular on the beach of Cattolica, renowned throughout the world for
its fine sand and for the quality of its waters that has made it possible, for the seventeenth time,
the assignment of the ‘blue flag‘.
The variety of places selected for the performances, the numerous events and the extremely rich
repertoire make this Festival not only one of the most spectacular international choral festivals
but also a unique opportunity of mutual and fruitful exchange among different musical
cultures.

Il Festival Internazionale di Canto Corale Queen of the Adriatic Sea è una manifestazione
competitiva che si svolge a Cattolica ed in alcuni magnifici luoghi dell’entroterra romagnolo. Il
Festival è parte del Rimini International Choral Competition, festival competitivo che si tiene a
fine Settembre di ogni anno. Il programma del Festival prevede il Concorso presso il magnifico
Teatro della Regina di Cattolica, un concerto presso lo storico Duomo di San Leo, nonché una
Messa comune per i cori da cantarsi presso la Chiesa del Crocifisso di Rimini. Ai concerti che
si svolgono in questi luoghi si affianca la possibilità di soggiorno presso la Riviera Adriatica,
in particolare sulla spiaggia di Cattolica, rinomata in tutto il mondo per la finezza della sua
sabbia e per la qualità delle sue acque che ne hanno decretato, per la diciassettesima volta,
l’assegnazione della ‘bandiera blu’.
La varietà dei luoghi delle esibizioni, oltre a quella degli eventi proposti, e il vastissimo
repertorio presentato pongono il Festival non solo come una delle più spettacolari
manifestazioni internazionali della coralità ma anche come irripetibile momento d’incontro di
diverse culture musicali.

Il Teatro della Regina
Inaugurato il 14 gennaio 1996 con un concerto del soprano Katia Ricciarelli, il Teatro
della Regina è il primo teatro-teatro progettato e costruito ex novo in Italia nel
dopoguerra. Realizzato in tempi da record, solo nove anni, il nuovo teatro di Cattolica
si offre come simbolo dell’impegno che la città riserva alla cultura come strumento di
crescita civile. La pianta del teatro ripropone lo schema classico a ferro di cavallo, tipica
dei teatri detti all’italiana. I due ordini di palchi, coronati da un capiente loggione, da
considerarsi in realtà come un terzo ordine di palchi, abbracciano la platea fasciata di
legni biondi, il cui impiego rende l’acustica semplicemente perfetta. L’architetto Pier
Luigi Cervellati ha saputo coniugare con estrema eleganza e modernità lo schema
base del teatro all’italiana con la funzionalità e la versatilità richiesta ad una moderna
macchina per spettacoli. Il teatro dispone di 700 posti, altri 200 sono ricavati nel
lussuoso ridotto sottostante, sede di incontri e convegni. Il palcoscenico, largo 12
metri e profondo 10, è dotato di un golfo mistico capace di ospitare orchestre fino a 50
elementi. La particolarità del golfo è quella di essere mobile e di poter essere elevato
al livello del palcoscenico aumentandone notevolmente la superficie. Arredi, tende e
poltrone, di un bel colore smeraldo, sono firmate in esclusiva dalla prestigiosa ditta
Frau.

The Queen’s Theatre
Opened in January 1996 with a concert by soprano Katia Ricciarelli, the Queen’s
Theatre is the first theatre designed and built from scratch in Italy after the war. Built
in record time, only nine years, the new theatre is offered like a symbol of engagement
that the city reserves to the culture as a tool for civil growth. The plan of the theatre
is the classic horseshoe-shaped, typical of those Italian theatres. The two orders of
theatre boxes, crowned by a large gallery, to be considered in fact as a third order of
boxes, embrace the audience with a bandage of blond woods, whose utilization makes
the sound just perfect. The architect Pier Luigi Cervellati has combined with extreme
elegance and modernity, the basic scheme of the Italian theatre with the functionality
and versatility required to a ‘modern car’ for shows. The theatre has 700 seats, another
200 for meetings and conferences are placed in the luxurious ‘reduced’ below the main
site. The stage, 12 meters wide and 10 deep, can accommodate orchestras up to 50
players . The particularity of the space for the orchestra is to be mobile and able to be
elevated to the level of the stage, greatly increasing the surface. Furniture, curtains and
sofas, of a beautiful emerald colour, are signed exclusively by the prestigious firm Frau.

La Cattedrale di San Leo
Situata al limite della rupe, la cattedrale di San Leone fu iniziata nel 1173 ad opera di
maestranze romaniche guidate da architetti emiliano-lombardi nel corso del Duecento
con aggiunte gotiche. L’ingresso, come nella vicina Pieve, non è in facciata ma su un
fianco, sormontato dai busti di San Leone e di San Valentino. Sia l’esterno che l’interno
sono in pietra arenaria concia e levigata, l’insieme, sia all’interno che all’esterno è
semplice ed austero. L’unico elemento decorativo sono i bei capitelli, in parte di spoglio,
corinzi del III sec d.C. e in parte romanici, di cui i più antichi rappresentano i simboli
del cristianesimo primitivo; anche le colonne sono di spoglio. La pianta della chiesa è
a croce latina, affiancata da due navate minori divise in quattro campate; il transetto
porta all’alto presbiterio tri-absidato, innalzato su un’ampia cripta a sua volta suddivisa
in cinque navatelle. Nell’abside della cripta era collocato il sarcofago con le spoglie di
San Leone, oggi però se ne conserva solo il coperchio con l’iscrizione, datato al VI
secolo. 6
The San Leo Cathedral
Situated on the edge of the cliff, the Cathedral of San Leone was begun in 1173, a majestic
Romanesque work guided by Emilian-Lombard architects over the course of the 13th
century with Gothic additions. The entrance, like the nearby Parish Church, is not in
the façade but on the side, overhung by busts of San Leone and San Valentino. Both the
exterior and interior are in smooth, tan sandstone and together simple and austere. The
unique decorative element are the beautiful capitals, partially bare Corinthian from the
3rd century A.D. and partially Romanesque, of which the oldest represent primitive
Christian symbols; even the columns are bare. The layout of the church is Latin-cross,
with two minor naves to the sides divided in four spans; the transept leads to the high
tri-apse presbytery, risen over a large vaulted crypt subdivided into five little naves.
In the apse of the crypt was the sarcophagus with the remains of San Leone; today,
however, it holds only the cover with inscription, dating back to the 6th century. 7

Zhukovskii City is the center of the Russian aviation. In this well-known city,
there is a secondary school, specialized in advanced cultural and musical education. In 1990, the school organized a school choir, which consists of children
studying in 5-10 grades (11-16 years old). At present, the choir is recognized
as ‘Exemplary chorus’ by Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. The
choir was awarded in many competitions: at the International Competition ‘Moscow Sings’ (Diploma); at the National Competition of school choirs (first level
diploma); at the Regional Competition ‘Young Talents of the Moscow Region’ in
2012 (first level diploma); at the VI International Choir Festival ‘Slovakia Cantat’, in Bratislava nel 2013 (silver band diploma); at the ‘Bad Ischl International
Choir Festival’, Austria nel 2013 (silver band diploma). The choir performs in the
best Moscow concert halls: Big Hall of Moscow P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatoire,
Gnesin Musical Academy, Jesus Christ Church. The honored teacher of the Russian Federation, Tatiana Kureneva is the permanent choir conductor and artistic
director.
La città di Zhukovskii è il centro dell’aviazione Russa. In questa città, ben conosciuta, c’è una scuola secondaria specializzata nell’educazione culturale e
musicale. Nel 1990 la scuola ha organizzato un coro scolastico che è formato
da bambini dagli 11 ai 16 anni. Attualmente il coro è riconosciuto come ‘Coro
Esemplare’ dal Ministro dell’Educazione della Federazione Russa. Il coro ha ottenuto numerosi riconoscimenti: al Festival Internazionale ‘Moscow Sing’ (diploma); al Concorso Nazionale di Cori Scolastici (diploma di primo livello); al
Concorso Regionale ‘Young Talents of the Moscow Region’ nel 2012 (diploma
di primo livello); al VI Festival Corale Internazionale ‘Slovakia Cantat’ a Bratislava nel 2013 (diploma fascia argento); al Festival Corale Internazionale ‘Bad
Ischl’ in Austria nel 2013 (diploma fascia argento). Il coro si è esibito nelle più
belle sale da concerto di Mosca: al Conservatorio Tchaikovsky, all’Accademia
Musicale Gnesin, alla Chiesa Gesù Cristo. Tatiana Kureneva è direttore artistico
e direttore del coro.

The Сhoir Aquarelki was founded in 1994 by Olga Zayashnikova, Honored
Employee of Culture of the Republic of Buryatiya and Russian Federation
and by concertmaster Maria Sorokovikova; artistic director and conductor
of that choir is also Olga Zayashnikova. The Сhoir Aquarelkihas an extensive
and interesting repertoire, it takes part at concerts at local and national levels
continually showing solo programs. It has been awarded at the following
Russian national and international choral competitions: II International Choral
Singing Competition ‘Singing childhood’: IV class diploma, Ulan-Ude, 2010.

Il Coro Aquarelki è stato fondato nel 1994 da Olga Zayashnikova, dell’Ente
Cultura della Repubblica di Buryatiya e della Federazione Russa e dal direttore
musicale Mariya Sorokovikova; direttore artistico e direttore del coro è Olga
Zayashnikova. Il coro Aquarelki ha un notevole ed interessante repertorio e si
esibisce in concerti a livello locale e nazionale. Il coro ha ottenuto riconoscimenti
in diversi concorsi nazionale ed internazionali: al II Concorso Corale ‘Singing
Childhood’, diploma di IV livello, a Ulan-Ude nel 2010; al VII Concorso
Nazionale ‘Moscow-Baikalsk Transit’, Primo Premio e Gran Premio nel Maggio
2013; al XIX Concorso Nazionale Wind rose – 2013’, Secondo Premio, Mosca
nell’Ottobre 2013.

The Children’s Choir Carmina was established in 2006. The choir has four sections, one concert level and 3 preparatory levels. All the sections together have
190 members. The choir has performed concerts all over the Czech Republic
and cooperates with soloists of classical music as well as pop-music; it is invited to many benefit concerts and also often to opens exhibition vernissages. It
cooperates also with the South Bohemian Philharmonic and performs at Czech
Television. Carmina has been successful in many competitions: Gold range in
children´s choirs competition in Czech Republic, Special Jury Prize in National
Competition in Pardubice Town 2007. In 2010 the choir won the first price at the
International Competition in Neerpelt (Belgium), Silver diplomas and special
jury prize for piano accompaniment at the Malta International Festival 2013.
The choir is supported by the České Budějovice Town Hall, statutory city, South
Bohemia Regional Authority and by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
Il Coro a voci bianche Carmina si è formato nel 2006. Il coro è costituito da
quattro sezioni, un gruppo per concerti e tre gruppi di livello preparatorio. Tutte le sezioni, comprendono complessivamente 190 membri. Il coro ha eseguito
concerti in tutta la Repubblica Ceca e collabora con solisti di musica classica e
di musica pop, ed è spesso invitato per tenere concerti a cerimonie inaugurali.
Inoltre collabora con la Filarmonica Boema e si esibisce alla TV Ceca. Il coro
Carmina ha ottenuto numerosi riconoscimenti in diverse competizioni: Livello
Oro al Concorso per cori a voci bianche nella Repubblica Ceca; Premio Speciale della Giuria al Concorso Nazionale nella città di Pardubice, nel 2007. Nel
2010 il coro ha vinto il primo premio al Concorso Internazionale Corale di Neerpelt, in Belgio. Ha inoltre ottenuto il Diploma d’Argento e il Premio Speciale della Giuria per l’accompagnamento pianistico al Festival Internazionale di
Malta, nel 2013. Il coro è sostenuto dal Consiglio Comunale della città di České
Budějovice, dal Consiglio Regionale della Boemia e dal Ministero della Cultura
della Repubblica Ceca.

The history of the children’s choir Zhuravushka began in 2007. The artistic director and conductor is Zhanna Mishina. The choir membership includes 35 pupils which are attending piano classes at the Antoni Tyzenhaus Children’s Music
School. The repertoire of the choir consists of vocal works of various genres and
epochs, including Russian and foreign classics, sacred music and folk music. The
ensemble has participated in numerous festivals and competitions. It has been
awarded with a Diploma at the Regional Festival “New Names” (2004, 2006) and
has been laureate at many competitions such as Festival of Orthodox Chants of
the Grodno Eparchy (2004, 2007), International Festival of Sacred Music “God
Almighty” (2005), International Competition of Orthodox Chants “Kalozha
Blagovest” (2011), International Festival “Youth of the Planet” – “Songs over the
Neva-2014”. The young choristers gradually become devoted and sincere connoisseurs of great music and strive for turning each and every meeting with the
audience into a true celebration of the choral art.
La storia del coro Zhuravushka inizia nel 2007. Direttore artistico e direttore del
coro è Zhanna Mishina. I membri del coro sono 35 ragazzi che frequentano la
classe di pianoforte presso la Scuola di Musica Antoni Tyzenhaus. Il repertorio
del coro comprende lavori di vari generi ed epoche, inclusi brani di musica classica di autori Russi e stranieri, musica sacra e folk. L’ensemble ha partecipato a
numerosi festival e concorsi. E’ stato premiato al Concorso Regionale “New Names” (2004, 2006) e ha ricevuto riconoscimenti al Festival di Musica Ortodossa
(2004, 2007), al Festival Internazionale di Musica Sacra “God Almighty” (2005),
al Concorso Internazionale di Musica Ortodossa “Kalozha Blagovest” (2011),
al Festival Internazionale Youth of the Planet – Songs over the Neva – (2014).
I giovani coristi gradualmente si appassionano alla grande musica, diventano
intenditori e si sforzano per trasformare ogni incontro con il pubblico in una
vera celebrazione dell’arte corale.

The Children’s Academic Choir Crescendo was founded in 2005 at the
House of Children’s Creativity in Saint-Petersburg, Peterhof. The art director and conductor of the choir is Marina Masalskaya. The choir has
three levels of training: 1. Primary group (3-6 years old) 2. Junior choir
(7-9 years old) 3. Concert choir (10-17 years old) The repertoire of the
choir consists of masterpieces of classical and contemporary, Russian and
world famous composers, folk songs. The choir Crescendo takes part in
different types of festivals, competitions, concerts, musical performances.
The choir is the winner of All-Russian festival-competition ‘Victory Salut’
(Peterhof, 2010); the winner of the international competition ‘Neva Wave’
in Bulgaria (2010). The choir was awarded with a silver diploma at the
‘Young Prague’ Festival in 2012.
Il Coro a voci bianche Crescendo è stato fondato nel 2005 presso la House
of Children’s Creativity a San Pietroburgo, Peterhof. Direttore artistico
e direttore del coro è Marina Masalskaya. Il coro ha tre livelli di attività:
gruppo primario (per bambini dai 3 ai 6 anni di età), coro junior (7-9
anni), coro per concerti (10- 17 anni). Il repertorio del coro comprende capolavori di musica classica e contemporanea, di compositori famosi
russi e stranieri e brani di musica folk. Il coro Crescendo partecipa a differenti tipi di Festival, concorsi, concerti ed eventi musicali. Il coro è stato
vincitore del Concorso ‘Victory Salut’ (Peterhof, 2010) e del Concorso
Internazionale ‘Neva Wave’ in Bulgaria (2010). Inoltre il coro ha ottenuto
il diploma d’argento al Festival ‘Young Prague’ (Praga 2012).

Crescendo also has an Ensemble of the parents and relatives of the choir
members. They are fond of music and with their children enjoy practicing
and performing together.
Crescendo ha anche un Ensemble formato da genitori e parenti dei membri del coro. Si tratta di persone appassionate di musica che, insieme ai
loro bambini, gioiscono del canto, esibendosi insieme.

The Choir of Senior Students of Uzhgorod P.Tchaikovsky Children’s Music School is widely known among fans of choral singing in Transcarpathia. Although
the Choir is an educational team, it often performs in famous concert halls of
the city and the region. The group has been awarded with diplomas at national
and international festivals and competitions for high level of vocal and choral
performance and its concert activity. The Choir repeatedly won the first prize at regional children’s choir contests (in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014).
The team is an active promoter of Ukrainian choral music. Listeners note the
bright and original performance of works by Ukrainian classical composers
such as D.Bortniansky, F.Kolessa and modern authors like B.Filts, V.Hohenko,
K.Miaskov and others. Works of West European classical composers J.S.Bach,
B.Galuppi, R.Schumann and F.Schubert also occupy an important place in the
Choir’s repertoire. The Choir’s performance is characterized by the use of rich
choral palette, emotional and subtle sense of style of a composer and high professional level.
Il Coro Studentesco della Scuola di Musica P. Tchaikovsky di Uzhgorod è largamente conosciuto tra gli appassionati di musica corale della Transcarpazia.
Sebbene sia un coro studentesco, numerose sono le occasioni per esibirsi nelle
migliori sale da concerto della città e della regione. Il gruppo ha ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti a concorsi nazionali ed internazionali per l’alto livello vocale
e per l’attività concertistica. Il coro ha vinto più volte il Primo Premio al Concorso Corale Regionale (nel 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014). Il team è un attivo
promotore della musica corale Ucraina. Gli ascoltatori possono notare l’originalità dell’esecuzione di lavori di compositori classici Ucraini quali D.Bortniansky,

The Concert Choir Kamerton was founded in 1992. It has got several awards at
many international competitions: ‘Moscow Sounds’ (2000), ‘Golden Kamerton’
(2001, 2007), ‘Christmas song’ (2004), ‘The days of Slav reading, writing and culture’ (2004), Moscow International Forum ‘Gifted Children’ (2003), ‘Christmas
Prague’ (2006), 5th ‘World Choir Games’ (Austria, Graz, silver medallist). The
extensive repertoire consists of Russian and European sacred music, works of
contemporary composers and folksongs. The choir successfully performed in
the best concert halls of Russia and deservedly presented Russian vocal culture
in Finland, Bulgaria and Czech Republic. The founder, artist director and conductor is Irina Podkopaeva. Piano accompanist is Antonina Ordinartseva.
Il Coro Kamerton è stato fondato nel 1992. Il coro ha ottenuto numerosi riconoscimenti in concorsi corali internazionali: ‘Moscow Sounds’ (2000), ‘Golden

The Polyphonic Group Claudio Monteverdi Choir was founded in 1976. After an
intense activity of study the choir took part to the most important international
choral festival in Italy. The choir was awarded at the International Choral Competition in Arezzo and in Ravenna in 1978 and 1979 and at the International
Choral Competition in Gorizia in 1982. During its 38 years of uninterrupted
activity, the choir performed more than 800 concerts in Europe and USA. The
repertoire includes pieces of classic, sacred and secular music, from different
periods: baroque, romantic, modern and contemporary. The choir performs
folk songs in different languages. Monteverdi choir takes care to promote the
folk songs, the language and the culture of the Friuli (an Italian region). The
choir has published 8 books of music, compositions and arrangements by Orlando Dipiazza. Since 1976 the choir has recorded 6 CDs. The Monteverdi choir
was conducted, until 1996, by Orlando Dipiazza. Since January 2008 the choir
conductor is Matjaž Šček.
Il Gruppo Polifonico Claudio Monteverdi è stato costituito nel 1976. Dopo un’intensa attività di studio ha partecipato alle più importanti manifestazioni corali internazionali d’Italia, conseguendo affermazioni di prestigio ai Concorsi di
Arezzo e Ravenna nel 1978 e 1979 e di Gorizia nel 1982. Nel corso dei 38 anni
di ininterrotta attività, ha eseguito più di 800 concerti nelle principali città europee e americane. Il suo vasto repertorio classico, sacro e profano, spazia dal
cinquecento al barocco, al romanticismo, agli autori moderni e contemporanei.
Il canto popolare viene proposto in elaborazioni e composizioni d’autore in diverse lingue e parlate. Per la valorizzazione e la diffusione del canto popolare e
della lingua e della cultura friulana ha pubblicato n° 8 volumi di musiche e canti
composti ed elaborati dal M° Orlando Dipiazza. Dal 1976 ad oggi ha pubblicato
n° 6 compact-disc. Il Monteverdi è stato diretto fino al 1996 dal M° Orlando
Dipiazza. Dal gennaio 2008 il coro è diretto dal M° Matjaž Šček.

The Vocal Group Cantus Vocum, was founded in 1998 and debuted in Umbertide, host of the Artistic Cultural Circle of St. Francis. In the summer of 2003,
the Group took part in the ‘Choral Festival’ at Our Lady of Rivaio, Castiglion
Fiorentino. In December of the same year, it participated at the XVIII edition
of ‘Christmas in Choir’ in Ripa Perugia, hosts of the Regional Association of
the Choirs of Umbria. In April 2004 the Group took part in the XV edition
of the ‘International Competition of Choral Music’ at the Teatro Nuovo in Verona. In 2005, the Group took part at the ‘The Thin Red Line’, organized by
the Department for economic, cultural and social activities of the province of
Perugia, at the Rocca Paolina in Perugia. In May of the same year it performed at the ‘Mass of the Artists’ in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Montesanto,
Rome. The repertoire consists of songs for four mixed voices, which are performed mostly a cappella; vast and diverse, ranging from the 1500s, with motets and madrigals, until, pop, jazz and blues music, with spirituals and gospel.
Il Gruppo Cantus Vocum, nasce nel 1998 e debutta ad Umbertide, ospite del
circolo Artistico Culturale di San Francesco. Nell’estate 2003 il Gruppo prende
parte alla Rassegna Corale presso Madonna del Rivaio, Castiglion Fiorentino.
A dicembre si è presentato alla XVIII edizione ‘Natale in Coro’ a Ripa Perugia,
ospite dell’Associazione Regionale Cori dell’Umbria. Nell’aprile 2004 ha preso
parte alla XV edizione del ‘Concorso Internazionale di Canto Corale’ presso il
Teatro Nuovo di Verona. Nel 2005 il Gruppo ha preso parte alla manifestazione ‘La Sottile Linea Rossa’ organizzata dall’assessorato alle attività economiche,
culturali e sociali della provincia di Perugia, presso la Rocca Paolina di Perugia.
Nel maggio dello stesso anno si esibisce alla ‘Messa degli Artisti’ nella Basilica
di S. Maria in Montesanto a Roma. Il repertorio si compone di brani a quattro
voci miste, che esegue prevalentemente a cappella; vasto ed eterogeneo spazia
dal 1500, con mottetti e madrigali, fino ad arrivare alla musica, pop, jazz e blues
con gli spiritual e i gospel.

Andrea Angelini - Artistic Director - Italy
Born in Bologna, Italy, Andrea Angelini began his piano
studies as a child, at the Rimini Lettimi School. He later earned
a Doctorate of Music at Ferrara’s Frescobaldi Conservatory. His
interests led him to the choral field, and he earned a Bachelor
studying Liturgical Music at Modena and at the International
Art Academy in Rome with Fulvio Angius. He also studied
organ at Pesaro’s Conservatory of Music. Finally he got his
PHD in Choral Music at the Cesena Conservatoire of Music.
He is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the professional
group Musica Ficta Vocal Ensemble that frequently performs in
important Festivals in Italy and abroad. For many years, Andrea
Angelini has conducted concerts with the choir Carla Amori,
in Italy and abroad. He has also conducted the Lithuanian
‘Jauna Muzika Choir’, the ‘Belarusian State Choir’, the Latvian
‘Ave Sol’ and the ‘Tudor Consort’ from New Zealand. He is the
Artistic Director and member of the Jury of the international
organ competition, Marcello Galanti. He has been member of
the Jury at many International Choir’s Competitions in Italy,
Europe and Asia. He frequently leads choral workshops in
Italy and abroad. Recently his Masterclass about the “Venetian
Renaissance choral music” has been presented to the students of the prestigious Liszt Music Academy of
Budapest and in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for the Young Choral Academy. He is the artistic director and one
of the tutors at the Rimini International Choral Workshop, where he teaches with Peter Phillips of the Tallis
Scholars. Mr. Angelini is also the artistic director of the ‘Rimini International Choral Competition’ and of the
‘Liviu Borlan Choral Competition’ (Romania). His professional memberships include the Artistic Committee
of AERCO (Regional Association of Choirs), ACDA (American Choral Directors Association). He is a regular
reviewer for the press. He is the Chief Editor of the International Choral Bulletin (ICB), the membership
magazine of the IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music). He has written numerous transcriptions
and arrangements for choirs and chamber ensembles. His transcription of Faure’s Requiem is published by
Gelber Hund Verlag of Berlin, who are also publishers of a book of repertoire for organ and violin, edited
by Mr. Angelini. For the American CanticaNOVA Publication, he has prepared transcriptions of important
Renaissance Motets. He has published his composition with Eurarte and Ferrimontana.
Andrea Angelini ha iniziato presto lo studio del Pianoforte presso il Liceo Musicale Lettimi di Rimini per
diplomarsi poi presso il Conservatorio “Frescobaldi” di Ferrara. Ha studiato anche organo sostenendo gli
esami al Conservatorio di Pesaro. Dedicatosi contemporaneamente all’attività corale compie studi di Direzione
all’Accademia Internazionale delle Arti di Roma ove si diploma con il M° Fulvio Angius. Si è perfezionato
in questa disciplina con Giovanni Acciai e con Peter Phillips dei “Tallis Scholar” all’International School of
Oakham (Inghilterra). Ha conseguito il diploma in Direzione di Coro al Conservatorio di Cesena. E’ direttore
del Coro Polifonico “Carla Amori” di Rimini e dell’Ensemble professionale “Musica Ficta” con i quali ha
diretto concerti in Italia e all’estero. Ha collaborato, come direttore ospite, con il Coro “Jauna Muzika” a
Vilnius, con il Coro “Ave Sol” a Riga, con il “Belarus State Choir” e con il Coro Neozelandese “The Tudor
Consort”. E’ ideatore, Direttore Artistico e membro della Giuria del Concorso Organistico Internazionale
“Marcello Galanti” di Mondaino. E’ stato membro della giuria di numerosi Concorsi Internazionali Corali
e di Organo. E’ spesso chiamato a tenere corsi di musica corale antica presso prestigiose istituzioni estere.
E’ direttore artistico e docente dei Corsi Internazionali per direttori di Coro organizzati dall’Associazione
Musicale “Musica Ficta” ove insegna con Peter Phillips (The Tallis Scholars). Ha pubblicato trascrizioni per le
Case Editoriali Gelber-Hund e Canticanova. Sue composizioni sono pubblicate da Ferrimonatana ed Eurarte.
E’ direttore responsabile di ICB, la Rivista Corale dell’IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music).
E’ direttore artistico del Concorso Corale Internazionale di Rimini e del Liviu Borlan Choral Competition
(Romania). E’ uno dei membri della Commissione Artistica dell’AERCO, l’Associazione dei Cori dell’Emilia
Romagna. E’ membro onorario dell’ACDA, l’Associazione Americana dei Direttori di Coro.

Rolandas Daugėla (President of the Jury)
has studied at the Lithuanian State Music
Conservatoire in the choral conducting class.
From 1988 to 1992 he was invited to the
Lithuanian State Conservatory chamber choir
with whom has won many international prizes.
From 1986 to 1989 he worked, as choirmaster,
with the choir “Sakalas” (leader L. Abaris).
Since 1989 he works, as choral conducting
teacher, at the Kaunas ‘Juozas Gruodis’
Conservatory. In 1992 he founded the church
chamber choir ‘Cantate Domino’. In 1992
he founded the International Choral Music
Festival and Competition ‘Cantate Domino’.
Since 1998 he gives lectures at the Lithuanian
Music and Theatre Academy, Kaunas Faculty;
actually he gives lectures at the Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy. Since 2006
Rolandas Daugėla gives conducting lectures at the ‘Juozas Naujalis’ Music Gymnasium
and ‘Aleksandras Kačanauskas’ Musical School. The choirs of these schools have
participated in more than 50 international competitions and festivals in Lithuania and
abroad winning the highest awards and prizes. In 1998 the Ministry of Culture of the
Republic of Lithuania provided Mr. Daugėla with the 1st degree ‘S.Šimkus’ award for his
musical activity and for the promotion of Lithuanian choral music. Rolandas Daugėla is
the winner of the 2007 ‘Culture and Art scholarship’.
Rolandas Daugėla (Presidente della Giuria) ha studiato al Conservatorio di Stato
della Lituania, nella classe di Direzione di Coro. Dal 1988 al 1992 è stato invitato al
Coro da camera del Conservatorio Statale di Musica con il quale ha vinto molti premi
in concorsi internazionali. Dal 1986 al 1989 ha lavorato come responsabile del Coro
‘Sakalas’ (condotto da L.Abaris). Dal 1989 insegna, come professore in direzione corale,
al Conservatorio di Musica di Kaunas ‘Juozas Gruodis’. Nel 1992 ha fondato il coro da
camera ‘Cantate Domino’ e dal 1998 insegna all’Accademia Lituana per la Musica e per
il Teatro, sede di Kaunas. Attualmente insegna anche all’Accademia di Musica ‘Vytautas
Magnus’. Infine dal 2006 Rolandas Daugėla tiene corsi di direzione di coro al Ginnasio
Musicale ‘Juozas Naujalis’ e alla Scuola di Musica ‘Aleksandras Kačanauskas’. I cori di
queste scuole hanno partecipato a più di 50 concorsi e festival corali internazionali in
Lituania e all’estero vincendo i più ambiti premi. Rolandas Daugėla è membro attivo
di molte organizzazioni. Dal 1998 è Direttore principale del ‘World Lithuanian Song
Celebrations’. Dal 2006 è stato membro di giuria in diversi concorsi corali internazionali
in Lituania e all’estero. Nel 1998 il Ministro della Cultura della Lituania ha concesso a
Rolandas Daugėla, per la sua attività musicale e per la promozione della musica corale
lituana, il premio di primo grado ‘S.Šimkus’. Egli è stato anche vincitore, nel 2007, del

Ilario Muro - Member of the Jury - Italy
Ilario Muro, (Member of the Jury) was born in
Vercelli where he studied at the Viotti School
of Music. His introduction to singing came at
the age of six, when he joined the treble voice
choir at San Cristoforo church, Vercelli, under
the guidance of the Dominican friars. He was a
pupil of the late musician and composer Father
Dante Destefanis. He subsequently joined the
San Cristoforo polyphonic choir, becoming
Choir-Master at the age of just eighteen.
He moved to Rimini in 1988 and became
Director of the Youth Choir founded three
years previously, in 1985, at the parish church
of Gesù Nostra Riconciliazione; the choir
later took the name Jubilate Deo. Mr Muro
attended courses held by Marco Gemmani,
by Giovanni Acciai and courses in Gregorian
Chant and Semeiotics held by Professors Oscar Chiodini and Massimo Pacifero at the
Santa Cecilia Diocesan School of Music, Rimini. Mr Muro has also taken part in each
of the annual Rimini International Choral Workshops for choristers and choir directors,
held by Andrea Angelini and by Peter Phillips, Director of the Tallis Scholars. With the
Jubilate Deo Choir, Mr Muro performs almost exclusively sacred music, specialising in
Renaissance polyphonic music. Over the years he has directed the choir in numerous
concerts and liturgical celebrations in Rimini and in many other cities in Italy, including
St Peter’s Basilica and Santa Susanna church, Rome; Milan Cathedral; Basilica of San
Francesco, Assisi and many others. He has taken part in international events including
the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Rome in the Jubilee year 2000 where the Jubilate Deo Choir
formed part of the Diocesan Choir which sang Mass in St Peter’s Square. Ilario Muro
is the Province of Rimini Deputy Delegate to A.ER.CO, the Emilia-Romagna Choirs
Association.
Ilario Muro, (Member of the Jury) è nato a Vercelli dove ha seguito i corsi del Liceo
Musicale Viotti. E’ stato allievo di Don Dante Destefanis. Passato al coro polifonico
fondato nel frattempo sempre in San Cristoforo, ne divenne il direttore a soli diciotto
anni. Dal 1988 si è trasferito a Rimini ed ha ottenuto la direzione del Coro Gruppo
Giovani già fondato nel 1985 presso la Parrocchia della Riconciliazione, che in seguito
ha assunto il nome di Jubilate Deo. Ha seguito corsi con Marco Gemmani, Giovanni
Acciai. Ha anche partecipato a tute le edizioni del Rimini International Choral Workshop
per direttori di coro e coristi, tenuto da Andrea Angelini e da Peter Phillips, direttore
dei Tallis Scholars. Con il Coro Jubilate Deo si occupa quasi esclusivamente di musica
sacra, in particolare di polifonia rinascimentale, e in questi anni ha effettuato concerti
e celebrazioni liturgiche a Rimini, e nelle principali città italiane, tra le quali spiccano
Roma (S.Pietro, S. Susanna), Milano (Duomo), Assisi (Basilica di S. Francesco), e tante
altre, partecipando ad alcune rassegne internazionali e ad eventi come il Pellegrinaggio
Giubilare del 2000 in qualità di coro della diocesi di Rimini (Messa in Piazza San Pietro).
Nell’ambito dell’A.ER.CO (Associazione Emiliano-Romagnola Cori) è vice delegato per
la Provincia di Rimini.

Fabio Pecci, (Member of the Jury) born in
Rimini, he studied violoncello at Ravenna’s
officially recognized “G. Verdi” Music School
graduating with brilliant results. As a cellist his
busy concert activity has led him to perform
in theatres and concert halls in Italy and
abroad. Awarded in many competitions, he
recorded seven cds for Tactus, Bongiovanni
and other labels. He founded and directs “Le
Allegre Note” treble voice choir and “Note in
Crescendo” youth choir, with which he has also
performed in prestigious theatres. With these
two choirs he has over 400 performances, audio
and television recordings to his credit. With
them he also recorded 3 albums which include
his own choral arrangements. With “Note in Crescendo” he has held concerts in Berlin,
Saint Etienne (Lyon) and in Czech Republic. With Le Allegre Note he also took part
in the production of Te Deum by H. Berlioz, held in Bologna in October 2008, under
the direction of Claudio Abbado, and was responsible for the preparation of the treble
voices in Puccini’s Boheme. An enthusiast of children’s vocalism, he also directs the
activity of Rimini’s “Piccole Voci di Carla Amori” and “Una Canzone per Crescere” at
Valconca Comprehensive School. As choir director, he has received awards and gained
recognition in National and International Competitions. From 2013 he is a member of
the Artistic Committee of A.E.R.CO – The Regional Choirs Association.
Nato a Rimini, Fabio Pecci, (Membro di Giuria) si diploma in violoncello presso
l’Istituto Pareggiato G. Verdi di Ravenna. Come strumentista ha al suo attivo oltre 600
concerti in Italia, Francia, Svizzera, Svezia, Portogallo. Ha inciso sette CD per Tactus,
VideoRadio, Malleus, Bongiovanni. Premiato in vari concorsi (Stresa, Moncalieri,
Genova), attualmente si dedica prevalentemente alla direzione corale di bambini e
ragazzi. Ha inciso tre cd come direttore dei cori Note in Crescendo e Le Allegre Note
di Riccione, contenenti anche sue elaborazioni corali. Dirige il coro giovanile Note In
Crescendo i cori a voci bianche Le Allegre Note (Riccione), Una Canzone per Crescere
(Morciano di R.), Piccole Voci di Carla Amori (Rimini). Ha curato la preparazione delle
voci bianche per il Te Deum di H. Berlioz (Bologna 2008 – Direttore Claudio Abbado),
Bohème (Teatro della Regina di Cattolica e Teatro Borgatti Cento), Tosca (Rimini 2010),
Carmen (Stagione Lirica del Teatro Regina di Cattolica, Rimini Capodanno 2011 e Teatro
dell’Opera Giocosa – Savona Fortezza del Priamàr, estate 2011), Focolare Invernale di
S. Prokofiev, Carmina Burana con i Percussionisti dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia in
Roma e vari cori lirici. Ha ricevuto tre primi premi assoluti in Concorsi Corali Nazionali
a Faenza (RA) e Treviso, oltre a numerosi altri premi e riconoscimenti. Docente per le
tematiche relative alle voci bianche per il Corso di Direzione Corale di A.E.R.CO, dal
2013 è membro della Commissione Artistica di A.E.R.CO.; è attualmente Presidente
dell’Associazione di Pedagogia Musicale e Musicoterapia ‘Papageno’.
