NATALIE DU TOIT
Natalie du Toit (born January 29, 1984) is a South African swimmer.
She is best known for the gold medals she won at the 2004 Paralympic Games as well as
the Commonwealth Games. She was one of two Paralympians to compete at the 2008
Summer Olympics in Beijing; the other being table tennis player Natalia Partyka. Du Toit
became the first amputee ever to qualify for the Olympics, where she placed 16th in the
10K, “Marathon”, swim.
Life
Natalie was born in Cape Town, South Africa and attended Wynberg Girls’ High School.
She began competing internationally in swimming at the age of 14. In February 2001 her
left leg was amputated at the knee after she was hit by a car while riding her scooter
back to school after swimming practice. Three months later, before she had started
walking again, she was back in the pool with the intention of competing in the 2002
Commonwealth Games. Du Toit swims without the aid of a prosthetic limb.
She completed her scholastic education at the Reddam House in Cape Town after which
she studied for a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Cape Town, specializing
in genetics and physiology. In her free time she does motivational speaking.
Swimming career
Du Toit first competed internationally at the age of 14, when she took part in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
During the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Du Toit, who was then 18 years old, won both the multi-disability 50 m
freestyle and the multi-disability 100 m freestyle in world record time. She also made sporting history by qualifying for the 800 m
able-bodied freestyle final – the first time that an athlete with a disability had qualified for the final of an able-bodied event. At the
closing of the Manchester Commonwealth Games, she was presented with the first David Dixon Award for Outstanding Athlete of
the Games.
In 2003, competing against able-bodied swimmers, Du Toit won gold in the 800 metres freestyle at the All-Africa Games as well as
silver in the 800 metres freestyle and bronze in the 400 metres freestyle at the Afro-Asian Games.
She narrowly missed qualifying for the Olympics in Athens in 2004, but during the Paralympics that were held in the same city, she
won one silver and five gold medals. In the same year, her courage and achievements were acknowledged with a nomination for
the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year 2004 with Disability Award. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games she repeated her
previous performance by winning the same two golds as she had in Manchester. In 2006 Du Toit also won six gold medals at the
fourth IPC World Swimming Championships, finishing third overall in a race which included 36 males and 20 females.
On 3 May, 2008, Du Toit qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics after finishing fourth in the 10km open water race at the Open
Water World Championships in Seville, Spain. Her time was only 5.1 seconds off the winner in a race that made its first Olympic
appearance in Beijing. At the Beijing Olympics women’s 10 km race, she finished in 16th place, 1:22.2 minutes behind the winner.
She also took part in the 2008 Summer Paralympics, winning 5 Gold Medals.
At the last Paralympic Games in London she won 3 gold medals and one silver.

JOHANNESBURG”: new
office and new director
SACE opened its Sub Saharan Africa office in Johannesburg in June 2008.
The last five years have culminated in significant developments within
Sub Saharan Africa, accompanied by increased volumes of SACE’s
transactions and a $10 million investment in the African Trade Insurance
Agency (ATI).Furthermore, since 1 June 2012, Michael Creighton has
been transferred to SACE’s Hong Kong office in order to oversee SACE’s
Asian operations.
Riccardo Fanelli, previously seconded to ATI, joined Monique Daseman
in Johannesburg, in his new capacity as Head of SACE’s local office. Vieri
Velardi is now the SACE contact at ATI in Nairobi, Kenya. SACE, the
Italian Export Credit Agency (ECA) has been established to facilitate the
raising of finance for companies importing equipment from Italy, where
that equipment has a requirement for medium to long term financing.
SACE facilitates the raising of finance through the issuing of insurance
policies covering the credit risk of non-payment. The supplier credit
policy- aimed at smaller transactions- enables the exporter to provide
extended credit terms (typically 1 to 5 years). SACE’s buyer credit policyaimed at larger transactions- involves the issuing of an insurance policy
directly to banks who put up the loan finance (typically 1 to 7 years
depending on the type of product and the industry).
SACE’s products are well received by small and large organizations and
banks throughout the world, including Sub Saharan Africa. The new
SACE’s office is located in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

nuovo responsabile
SACE ha aperto il proprio ufficio per l’Africa subsahariana a Johannesburg nel
giugno 2008. Gli ultimi cinque anni sono stati caratterizzati da un significativo
sviluppo della regione, accompagnato da un sostanziale incremento nel volume
delle transazioni di SACE e da un investimento di 10 milioni di dollari nell'African
Trade Insurance Agency (ATI).
Recentemente Michael Creighton è stato trasferito all’ufficio SACE di Hong Kong.
Riccardo Fanelli, dalla sua posizione all’ATI in Kenya, ha raggiunto Monique
Daesman a Johannesburg come nuovo responsabile dell’ufficio locale di SACE. Il suo
posto a Nairobi è ora ricoperto da Vieri Velardi.
SACE, è stata costituita per facilitare i finanziamenti alle aziende che importano
attrezzature dall’Italia e che necessitano finanziamenti a medio e lungo termine.
SACE utilizza come strumento per facilitare i finanziamenti l’emissione di polizze
assicurative che coprono il rischio di mancato pagamento. In tal modo le controparti
africane vengono agevolate nel comprare merci italiane, grazie a termini creditizi
piú estesi, che possono arrivare fino a 7 anni a seconda del tipo di prodotto e di
settore.
I servizi SACE sono apprezzati da piccole a grandi organizzazioni e banche in tutto il
mondo, compresa l’Africa subsahariana.
Da pochi giorni lo staff Sace di Johannebsurg ha una nuova sede nel quartiere di
Bryanston .

italian delegation at Huntex
Cape Expo
Si è svolta dal 21 al 24 Settembre scorso la visita ufficiale
della delegazione della Fiera di Brescia in Sud Africa
accompagnata dal Segretario Generale di Italcham
Mariagrazia Biancospino. La delegazione composta dal
Presidente della Fiera di Brescia
Dr. Francesco Bettoni, Nicola Perrotti e da Paola
Maccagnoli, si è recata a Cape Town in occasione della
prima edizione di Huntex Cape Expo, la fiera sudafricana
per le armi sportive. La ressegna sudafricana prevede due
edizioni annuali la prima ad Aprile a Johannebsurg e da
quest’anno una a Settembre a Cape Town. La delegazione
ha avuto modo di incontrare il console italiano a Cittá del
Capo Dr. Edoardo Vitali e di entrare in contatto con tutti
gli organizzatori e i principali addetti al settore. Utili gli
incontri mirati a trovare sinergie per future collaborazioni
tra la fiera sudafricana e la fiera di Brescia che ogni anno
organizza EXA, la rassegna Internazionale Armi Sportive,
Security e Outdoor in programma dal 13 al 16 aprile 2013,
che si qualifica come seconda fiera di settore piú grande in

Between the 21st and the 24th of September, the Italian delegation
of the Fiera di Brescia paid an official visit to South Africa. The
group, composing of the Head of Fiera di Brescia, Dr. Francesco
Bettoni, Nicola Perrotti and Paola Maccagnoli, visited Cape Town
on the occasion of the first edition of Huntex Cape Expo, one of
South Africa’s most important exhibitions for sport shooters (the
winter edition take place in Johannesburg in April).
After a meeting with the Italian Consul in Cape Town, Edoardo
Vitali, the delegation went on to meet the promoters of the
exhibition. The meetings have been extremely positive to lay
down prospects for future collaboration between the South
Aftrican and the Brescia teams, in particular in view of the yearly
international exhibition for sport weapons which will take place in
Brescia between the 13th and the 16th of April 2013. This
represents the third most important exhibition for sport weapons

innovazioni tecnologiche per favorire il raggiungimento di eccellenti livelli qualitativi, come quelli che è oggi in grado di fornire ai
propri clienti. L’azienda si sviluppa su una superficie di 115.000 mq, di cui ben 30.000 mq coperti, all’interno dei quali i reparti di
produzione sono in grado di far fronte ad una richiesta di 90.000 tonnellate annue di forgiato grezzo.

Compressori o pompe: casse, flangioni di chiusura, bocchelli di aspirazione mandata e alberi;
Carta e cartone: rulli, bussole e terminali per cilindri composto.
LA NOSTRA PRODUZIONE
Il reparto forgia dispone di tre presse con potenza applicata 2500 - 3500 - 7500 ton., capacità di riscaldo per 400 m³ e potenza di
manipolazione di 80 ton. Può produrre pezzi di peso grezzo fino a 80 ton. con max di 4000 mm e lunghezza 18 m.
Il trattamento termico dispone di dieci forni in grado di soddisfare la totalità delle esigenze di produzione con lunghezza max
trattabile di 18 m, corredati da vasche di acqua e acqua-quench , con possibilità di tempra in verticale fino a 10 m.
L’officina meccanica dispone delle macchine utensili per tornitura (orizzontale e verticale), fresatura, foratura e carotatura sia per la
lavorazione di pezzi sia sgrossati che finiti.
QUALITA’
La società opera secondo un sistema di qualità ISO 9001:2000, accertato e certificato dal DET NORSKE VERITAS. Tale sistema
interviene sin dallo studio di fattibilità e, quindi, dalla definizione del ciclo tecnico di fabbricazione seguendo tutte le fasi di
produzione, con controlli in processo mediante strumenti costantemente verificati. Il ciclo viene completato con il collaudo e la
certificazione del prodotto. Il nostro personale è altamente qualificato e il laboratorio è in grado di svolgere, mediante attrezzature
certificate, tutte le prove richieste: determinazioni delle caratteristiche meccaniche, anche con estensimetro elettronico, esami ad
ultra suoni, con liquidi penetranti, a particelle magnetiche, tensioni residue e prove di stabilità termica sui rotori. Qualifiche di
prodotto sono state rilasciate dal T.U.V., DET NORSKE VERITAS; LLOYD’S REGISTER OF
SHIPPING. L’azienda sta implementando un SISTEMA DI GESTIONE AMBIENTALE secondo la norma UNI EN ISO 14001.
