Ambiti di Ricerca ed esperienze professionali
Dal dicembre 2006 è ricercatore presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Geologiche, ambientali e Marine
dell’Università di Trieste, settore disciplinare GEO-11 (Geofisica Applicata). Dal 1997 e' impegnato in
attività di ricerca nel settore del trattamento e dell'interpretazione dati geofisici a diversa scala. In questo
settore ha sviluppato metodi innovativi per l’elaborazione di dati GPR a copertura singola e multipla. Ha
sperimentato metodologie di integrazione di dati in particolare sismici, Georadar, magnetici e geoelettrici per
studi ad alta risoluzione con applicazioni nei settori della geologia applicata e strutturale, dell'archeologia,
dell'ambiente (inquinamento da contaminanti liquidi, discariche), dell'ingegneria, della glaciologia e dello
humanitarian demining.
Ha preso parte a numerose ricerche nazionali ed internazionali in vari ambiti. In particolare ha
partecipato a numerosi PRIN (2000, 2004, 2006), progetti di ricerca finanziati dal Programma Nazionale di
Ricerche in Antartide (1997, 2000, 2003), dal Gruppo Nazionale per la Difesa dai Rischi Chimici, Industriali
ed Ecologici (2001), dal Ministero degli Esteri (2001, 2002, 2007, 2008) e dalla Comunità Europea
nell’ambito del V e VI programma quadro (2001-2005, 2008). E’ stato responsabile di un’unità di ricerca per
un progetto finanziato dal “fondo di ricerca d’ateneo” dell’Università di Trieste.
Dal 1998 al 2006 è stato consulente per il settore geofisico di compagnie nazionali ed internazionali,
maturando esperienze nell’elaborazione ed integrazione di dati geofisici di varia natura e nella pianificazione
e realizzazione di campagne geofisiche. E’ stato in particolare team leader e project geophysicist in progetti
di indagini finalizzate alla realizzazione di grandi infrastrutture, alla valutazione di manufatti e
all’esplorazione archeologica.

Ha preso parte a varie spedizioni geofisiche per ricerche in Italia e all’estero (Egitto, Israele, Malta, Perù,
Slovenia, Turchia).
Attività Scientifica e didattica
Dal 1997 ha partecipato a numerosi congressi e conferenze nazionali ed internazionali del settore
geofisico, geologico, archeologico e dei rischi industriali presentando propri lavori.
E’ autore/coautore di circa 15 pubblicazioni scientifiche su riviste nazionali ed internazionali e di oltre
70 riassunti/riassunti estesi.
E’ membro della Society of Exploration Geophysicists, della European Association of Geoscientists &
Engineers e della sezione italiana del SEG/EAGE.
E’ reviewer per l’International Union of Geological Sciences di progetti riguardanti le geoscienze ed i
beni culturali e della rivista internazionale Near Surface Geophysics. E’ stato inoltre reviewer dei lavori di
diverse conferenze nazionali ed internazionali.
E’ stato relatore/correlatore di circa 20 tesi di Laurea e Dottorato nei settori del trattamento,
interpretazione ed integrazione di dati geofisici e di studi geologici, stratigrafici e crostali con ausilio di
tecniche geofisiche, alcune delle quali in collaborazione con ENI Corporate University.
Dall’ A. A. 2009-2010 è membro del collegio docenti del Dottorato in Scienze Ambientali (ambiente
fisico marino e costiero) dell’università di Trieste.
E’ stato “National Consultant” (periodo 1 Giugno-15 Dicembre 2009) presso l’International Centre for
Science and High Technology, United Nations industrial development organization, all’interno di un
programma di ricerca, formazione, e supporto didattico per lo sviluppo di risorse geotermiche. In
quest’ambito ha collaborato nell’organizzazione di una “School on Geothermics” (26 Ottobre-7 Novembre
2009).
