Mentre nella cappella Palatina della Reggia di
Napoli si svolgeva il santo battesimo dell’augusta
Principessina, la Collettività italiana di Sfax
inaugurava nel nome di Maria Pia di Savoia l’Asilo
Infantile di Pic-Ville. Una grande manifestazione
patriottica e religiosa si è svolta son grande
affluenza di connazionali che gremivano l’ingresso
e il cortile dell’asilo.
Erano presenti le nostre autorità con a capo il
Vice Console Cav. Eristano Gabrici, accompagnato
dal Cancelliere Giuseppe Fiorilla, il Corpo
Insegnante delle RR. Scuole con la direttrice
signorina Eletta Nardi, la Pro Infanzia con la Vice
Presidente signora Margherita Morana e la signora
Avvocato, ecc...
La manifestazione ha avuta inizio verso le ore
11, al suono della Marcia Reale e di “Giovinezza”.
Il Reverendo Descroix accompagnato dall’abate
Labbe, ha impartita la benedizione al nuovo
edificio e quindi prima dell’ “Alza bandiera” i
piccoli hanno pronunciata la preghiera. Mentre si
alzava potente il grido di “Savoia” e di “Viva il Re”
la bandiera è stata issata nel cielo mentre tutti
salutavano romanamente.
Il Vice-Console ha pronunziato ispirate parole
esaltando l’alto significato della manifestazione. I
bambini hanno svolto poi un interessante
programma di balletti, cori, poesie, scherzetti
comici meritandosi grandi feste. Il piccolo Barraco
è stato un “maestro di musica” meraviglioso.
In seguito sono stati distribuiti dei confetti e
fiori ai piccoli e ai presenti, e alle ore 12 ha avuto
luogo il pranzetto dei piccoli, consumato tra il brio
e la gioia dei commensali. La simpatica festa
infantile ha avuto termine verso le ore 14 e le
mamme hanno ripreso i loro piccoli tutti liete e
sorridenti.
Meritano una lode speciale gli organizzatore e
le signore della Pro Infanzia.
While the baptism of the August Princess took
place in the Palatine Chapel of the Palace of
Naples, the Italian community of Sfax
inaugurated the Kindergarten of Pic-Ville in the
name of Maria Pia of Savoy. A great patriotic
and religious event took place with a great
influx of Italians who filled the entrance and the
courtyard of the kindergarten.
Present were authorities headed by Vice
Consul Cav. Eristavi Gabrici, accompanied by
Chancellor Joseph Fioravanti, the teaching
staff of the RR. Schools with the director
Signorina Eletta Nardi, the Pro Children with
Vice President Signora Margaret Moran and
Signora Avvocato, etc. ...
The event started around 11 am, at the
sound of the Royal March and "Giovinezza".
The Reverend Descroix accompanied by
Abbot Labbe, gave his blessing to the new
building and then before he “Raised the flag”
some of the little ones pronounced the prayer.
As the flag was hoisted the mighty cry of
"Savoy" and "Long live the King" rose in the
sky while everyone greeted the Romans.
The Vice-Consul gives inspired words
highlighting the great significance of the event.
The children then played an exciting program
of ballets, songs, poems, jokes, comic
sketches deserving large festivities. The young
Barraco was a wonderful "music director".
They were later handed out sweets and
flowers to the little ones and those present,
and at 12 a small lunch took place, eaten
between the spirit and the delight of the diners.
The child friendly party ended at about 14
hours and the mothers and their young were
taken home all happy and smiling.
Deserve special praise as the organizer
and the ladies of the Kindergarten [Lit: “Pro
Infanzia”].
