The Four D’s
• No drinking of alcoholic beverages, including attending
parties where alcoholic beverages are served by or to persons
under 21 years of age even if I am not drinking.
• No drugs, including being in the presence of others that may
possess or partake of drugs.
• No driving including cars, motorcycles, boats or other
motorized vehicles.
• No serious one on one dating. Group dates are encouraged
but exclusive dating is prohibited.

• I will obey all of the laws of Italy. I understand that any
violation of these laws may result in arrest and/or
termination of my exchange.
• I will immediately remove myself from any situation that
involves drugs, alcohol or other illegal activities.

Rotary permission and I may not have friends visit from my
country at anytime during my exchange.

of any situation that I feel is inappropriate or that puts me in
any danger.

Relationship with the school
• Regular school attendance is a must and
good performance is expected.
• Consider that the Italian school system is
more rigid and demanding than in other
countries.

Relationship with the school
• The student must attend school regularly
and make an honest attempt to succeed.
• Dress codes.

Relationship with the club
• The relationship with your hosting club is important;
make sure you accept all invitations to participate
with them
• Getting to know members
• Showing appreciation
• Stay in contact with your counselor
and let them know how you are
doing on a regular basis

Relationships with families
• The host family you will be living with has
been instructed to treat you like their
daughter or their son
• Discuss with your family what they expect
of you and what you should expect from
them
• Become an integral
part of the Host Family

Family visits
• Before organizing family visits or purchasing
tickets students must get permission from
their hosting family AND the hosting Rotary
Club AND the hosting District
• Family Visits are not permitted prior to
March
• Visits by friends and relatives other than
immediate relatives are prohibited

Travel While On Exchange
• Students may participate in travel organized
by their host family, the school they attend,
the Rotary Club or the District
• Students may not travel alone or
accompanied only by other students
• Students may ride to
school using public
transportations in the
area of the host
