SuperDuper Hats new FW 2015_16 Collection is inspired by the image of the boxer. It isn’t a tribute to boxing but to the man who, outside of the ring, wore a hat to cover bruises and scars. On those picassian faces, a hat was the means with which to blur into the crowd, far from the ring, hiding the evidence of those marked faces. The new collection expresses itself through a sober and radical colour choice such as dove-grey, cement, black, dark brown. The details are essential and the brims of the hats are hemmed with high gros grain almost like the gauze bandages wrapped around a boxer’s hands. Caps and flatcaps are made in heavy wool, characterised by a tear at the edge of the peak, as if a scar. A highlight of the collection is “Lo storto” The crooked, in a seemingly classic form but the grip is off-centre, almost like the broken nose on the face of a boxer. The common thread running throughout the collection is a creased elegance, never over the top, marked by sweat and tears but that defends all the dignity of these men, always ready to pick themselves up again, always on their guard, focused on dodging the next blow, waiting for the bell to ring.
