Planes still had wooden wings, the few trains around were driven by steam, people ate in their
kitchens and oil was only used for lamps. Guzzini’s origins date from this era. Horn was the raw
material then. And as the Guzzini brothers worked it, they discovered that lines could be changed,
unusual shapes could be suggested and an ordinary salad-server could be made more attractive and
surprising. Was that Design? Nowadays, critics write learned volumes on the subject. For Guzzini,
it was first and foremost a love of the job in hand. Then came the second half of the 20th Century,
full of dreams, discoveries and technologies that improved people’s lives: antibiotics, the moon, the
Web and Design. That first love for a salad server grew into a passion for the form and function
of objects, even everyday items, and became the mission shared by four generations of the Guzzini
family. Nowadays they call it Design, because there has probably not been a single day, for more
than a hundred years, when people at Guzzini have not spent time studying objects’ function and
continually improving their form. For a hundred years, Italian and international designers have
helped to bring innovation to the daily routine, in the kitchens, on the tables and in the homes of
the whole world. Which may be why Guzzini contains some of the history of Italian design.
Les avions avaient encore les ailes en bois, la vapeur faisait bouger les trains, l’on mangeait dans la
cuisine et le pétrole servait uniquement pour l’éclairage. C’est alors que Guzzini a fait ses premiers
pas. La matière première était la corne. En la travaillant, les Guzzini ont découvert que les lignes
pouvaient changer, elles pouvaient suggérer des formes inhabituelles, rendre plus beau et surprenant
le couvert à salade traditionnel. S’agissait-t-il de Design ? De nos jours, certains critiques ont écritt
des pages célèbres sur ce thème. Pour Guzzini, il s’agissait surtout d’amour pour son propre travailil.
Ensuite, la seconde moitié du XXème siècle a été riche en rêves, découvertes et technologies qu
qui
améliorent la vie : l’antibiotique, la Lune, l’Internet et le Design. Le premier amour pour le couvvert
à salade se traduit en passion pour la forme et la fonction des choses, mêmes celles de tous les jo
jours
et devient le fil rouge qui lie ensemble quatre générations de Guzzini. Aujourd’hui, on l’app

Design, peut-être parce que, pendant plus de 100 ans, il n’y a pas eu un seul jour où Guzzini
ni n’ait
consacré du temps à étudier la fonction de l’objet, tout en continuant à en améliorer la forme.
Pendant cent ans, des designers italiens et internationaux ont contribué à innover le quootidien
des cuisines, des tables et des maisons du monde entier. C’est peut-être pour cela qu’une paartie de
l’histoire du design italien passe par Guzzini.

zweckmäßig, sondern auch schön sein konnte. War das bereits Design? Bis heute wuurde zu
diesem Thema schon so manche gelehrte Abhandlung verfasst. Fürdie Guzzinis war es damals
einfach nur Freude an der Arbeit. Dann kam die zweite Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts, mit neuen
Träumen, revolutionären Entdeckungen und modernen Technologien, die das Leben nachhhaltig
verbesserten - die Antibiotika, die Mondlandung, das Netz, das Design. Und aus der ersten Liebe
zum Salatbesteck wurde bei GuzziniLeidenschaft für die Form und die Funktion der Gegenstän

des alltäglichen Gebrauchs. Eine Passion, die sich weitervererbt hat und inzwischen in der
viertenGenerationgepflegt und gelebt wird. Heute nennen wir es Design. Und seit mehr als einem

Jahrhundert ist kein Tag vergangen, an dem sich Guzzini nicht mit dem Studium der Funktionn
beschäftigt und die Form seiner Produkte weiter optimiert hat. Seit hundert Jahren leisten Designer
aus Italien und aller Herren Länder ihren kreativen Beitrag zur Innovation des Alltags in der Küche,
auf den Tischen und in den Häusern der ganzen Welt. Und deshalb verkörpert das Unternehmen
FratelliGuzzinieinen Teil der Geschichte des italienischen Designs.
Las alas de los aviones aún eran de madera, los pocos trenes marchaban a vapor, se comía en la
cocina y el petróleo se usaba solo para alumbrar... Es por aquel entonces que Guzzini intentaba
dar sus primeros pasos. El cuerno como materia prima que, durante su elaboración, dejó descubrir
que las líneas podían cambiar, sugerir formas insólitas, más bellas y sorprendentes para el habitual
cubierto de ensalada. ¿Se trataba de “design”? Hoy en día algunos críticos han escrito páginas ilustres
sobre este tema. Para Guzzini era sobre todo amor por su trabajo. Más tarde llegó la segunda mitad
del '900 con todos los sueños, descubrimientos y tecnologías que mejoraron la vida: el antibiótico,
la luna, Internet, el diseño. El primer amor por el cubierto para ensalada se ha transformado en una
pasión por la forma y la función de los objetos, incluso los de uso cotidiano: este el hilo conductor
que une cuatro generaciones de Guzzini. Hoy lo llamamos “design”, pues es probable que, durante
más de cien años, no haya habido un día en el que Guzzini no dedicara tiempo a estudiar la función
del objeto sin dejar de mejorar su forma. Diseñadores italianos e internacionales han contribuido
durante cien años a la innovación en el uso cotidiano de las cocinas, las mesas y las casas de todo
el mundo. Quizás esta es la razón por la que Guzzini forma parte de la historia del diseño italiano.

medals but to enter people’s homes, to be used every day, to be chosen not for what they represent but for what they do and how they are

Ogni oggetto ha la sua funzione e ogni funzione richiede il suo materiale.
I polimeri acrilici rappresentano un primato nella tecnologia Guzzini e questa
è solo una delle competenze dell’azienda in fatto di materiali. La “filosofia

Every object has its function, and every function demands its own material. Acrylic polymers are one of
the areas in which Guzzini technology leads the field, and this is just one of its specific competences with
regard to materials. The “philosophy of function” makes the choice of the right material essential. Under
this approach, the transparency of crystal glass, the strength of steel and the easy cleaning of porcelain
dominate some tableware or kitchen collections. Guzzini has developed the tools needed to combine

C’est ainsi que la transparence du cristal, la solidité de l’acier et la propreté de la porcelaine occupent le
devant de la scène dans certaines collections pour la table ou la cuisine. La recherche Guzzini a permis de
combiner ces matériaux entre eux et avec les polymères acryliques : souvent le résultat est surprenant et
apporte qualité et unicité aux objets de tous les jours.

Cada objeto tiene su función y cada función requiere un determinado material. Los polímeros acrílicos
representan un récord en la tecnología Guzzini y esta es solo una de las competencias de la empresa
en lo que a materiales se refiere. La “filosofía de la función” lleva a la búsqueda del material más idóneo;
es así que la transparencia del cristal, la resistencia del acero y la limpieza de la porcelana adquieren
protagonismo en algunas de las colecciones para la mesa o la cocina. Gracias a su estudio, Guzzini

l’intenso rosso. Sono cromie realizzate con una innovativa tecnica di stampaggio sul
materiale plastico in grado di fondere insieme trasparenze e colori, forme e materia in un
unico, armonioso movimento. Iris ha l’euforia del sole, dell’aria aperta, dei cubetti di ghiaccio,
del brivido delle bollicine, ma, soprattutto, del piacere di stare con gli amici.
Light becomes colour, a natural, dazzling explosion: green,
wisteria, orange and deep red. These shades are created
using an innovative plastic moulding process that merges
transparencies and colours, forms and matter in a single,
unbroken movement.
Iris expresses the euphoria of sunlight, the outdoors,
ice-cubes, the thrill of sparkling drinks and, above all, the
pleasure of being with friends.
La lumière se transforme en couleur, une explosion
naturelle et éblouissante : vert, glycine, orange et rouge
intense. Il s’agit de tons réalisés grâce à une technique
novatrice de moulage sur plastique capable de fondre
ensemble transparences et couleurs, formes et matière en
un seul mouvement harmonieux.
Iris a l’euphorie du soleil, du plein air, des glaçons, du
frisson de petites bulles mais, surtout, du plaisir d’être avec
ses amis.
Das Licht wird Farbe und explodiert in Grün, Violett,
Orange und leuchtendem Rot. Möglich wird dies dank
einem innovativen Verfahren für plastisches Material, bei
dem Transparenzen und Farben, Formen und Materie
in einer einzigen, harmonischen Bewegung miteinander
verschmelzen.
Iris steht für das Leuchten der Sonne, die Leichtigkeit der
frischen Luft, die erfrischende Kühle von Eiswürfeln, das
Prickeln der Kohlensäurebläschen und vor allem für die
Freude am geselligen Beisammensein mit guten Freunden.
La luz se transforma en una explosión natural y
deslumbrante de color: verde, glicina, anaranjado y rojo
vivo. Tonalidades realizadas con una innovadora técnica
de moldeado sobre el material plástico que logra fundir las
transparencias con los colores y las formas con la materia
en un único, armonioso movimiento.
Iris trae la euforia del sol, del aire libre, de los cubos de
hielo, de las cosquilleantes burbujas y, sobre todo, del

Così come il vento disegna la superficie dell’acqua, Aqua
è una collezione di oggetti caratterizzati da una superficie
increspata da piccole onde. La trasparenza assume quindi
suggestioni particolari, lasciando intravedere una realtà
deformata dalla propria fantasia. Aveva ragione Melville
quando diceva dell’incanto dell’uomo di fronte all’acqua.
Aqua is a collection of objects with a rippled surface,
as water undulated by the wind. Transparency acquires
peculiar nuances, showing a reality deformed by fantasy.
Melville was right when speaking of the human wonder
at water.
Ainsi, comme le vent dessine la superficie de l’eau, Aqua
est une collection d’objets caractérisés par une surface
de petites vagues ridées. La transparence assume donc
des suggestions particulières laissant apercevoir la réalité
déformée de la propre fantaisie. Melville avait donc raison
quand il parlait de l’enchantement de l’homme face à l’eau.
Genauso wie der Wind die Wasserfläche gestaltet,
ist Aqua eine Kollektion von Gegenständen mit einer
durch kleine Wellen gekräuselter Oberfläche. Die
Durchsichtigkeit wird daher eindrucksvoll und lässt
eine von der eigenen Phantasie verformte Realität
durchblicken. Melville hatte Recht, als er vom Staunen des
Menschen vor dem Wasser sprach.

To all appearances, it is an attractive oil cruet, but, salt is in fact
stored in the coloured lid. Two functions in a single object, and
the same goes for the vinegar and pepper. A little innovation
to make the table more fun, just like in the most traditional and
authentic Guzzini pieces: design, colour and joy for everyday
gestures. Designed by Marco Acerbis.

All’apparenza un’oliera dalla forma piacevole. Nel tappo colorato un salino. Due funzioni
in un unico oggetto e la sorpresa si ripete per aceto e pepe. Una piccola innovazione per
fare più divertente la tavola, come nella più autentica tradizione Guzzini: design, colore e
gioia per i gesti di tutti i giorni. Disegnata da Marco Acerbis.
CONCEPTION ET FONCTION.
On dirait apparemment un huilier à la forme agréable. Dans le
bouchon coloré, se cache une salière. Deux fonctions dans un
même objet, la surprise se répète pour le vinaigre et le poivre.
Une petite innovation pour rendre la table plus agréable,
comme dans la tradition la plus authentique de la société
Guzzini: conception, couleur et joie pour les gestes les plus
quotidiens. Dessinée par Marco Acerbis.

Dem Aussehen nach eine Ölkaraffe mit einer angenehmen
Form. Im farbigen Deckel ein Salzstreuer. Zwei Funktionen in
einem einzigen Gegenstand und die Überraschung wiederholt
sich bei Essig und Pfeffer. Eine kleine Innovation, um den
Tisch amüsanter zu gestalten, wie in der authentischsten
Tradition von Guzzini angelegt: Design,
Farbe und Spaß bei den Alltagshandgriffen.

defining art, an impossible task, since it's
relative. You still hear the paradigm:
Form Follows Function. True, unless
the form is the function. Tools must
be usable, hence functional but not
all design objects are tools. Some are
meant for other purposes. The system

well coordinated and organized
for the whole sink area.

raccoglitore progettato per ridurre il rischio di
contaminazione alimentare dei diversi tipi di cibo.
I quattro taglieri colorati permettono di preparare
in tutta sicurezza verdure, pesce, carne cruda e
cibi cotti. Il raccoglitore tiene ordinati e a portata di
mano i taglieri.
Cooking Book is the system of chopping-boards with container
designed to reduce the risk of cross-contamination of different types
of food. The four coloured chopping-boards allow the absolutely safe
preparation of vegetables, fish, raw meat and cooked foods. The
container keeps the boards tidy and always to hand.
Cooking Book est le système de planches à découper avec
récupérateur, conçu pour réduire le risque de contamination
alimentaire des types différents d’aliments. Les quatre planches à
découper colorées, permettent de préparer en toute sécurité les
légumes, les poissons, la viande crue et les aliments cuits.
Le récupérateur permet de bien arranger les planches à découper et
de les avoir à portée de la main.
Cooking Book – vier Schneidbretter in einem praktischen Ordner,
mit denen dank der farblich logischen Zuordnung das Risiko der
Geschmacksübertragung bei der Zubereitung der Speisen wegfällt,

Dario Tanfoglio nasce nel 1958. Si dedica agli studi
artistici, ma comincia presto ad interessarsi al mondo
dell’industria e del suo prodotto, collaborando alla ricerca
e allo sviluppo di nuovi elettrodomestici. Alcuni prodotti
sono stati esposti in mostre internazionali: 1993, Parigi”,
“Design: Miroir du Sìecle” 1993, Verona, “Abitare il
tempo - progetti e territori”
1996, Copenhagen, “European Design - Design as
Identity”.
Dario Tanfoglio was born in 1958. He studied art for
years, but began to gain interest in the world of industry
and its products, contributing to the creation and
development of new appliances. Some of his products
were displayed in international exhibits: 1993, Paris,
“Design: Miroir du Sìecle” 1993, Verona, “Abitare il tempo
- progetti e territori” 1996, Copenhagen, “European
Design - Design as Identity”.

Dario Tanfoglio wurde 1958 geboren.
Jahrelang widmet er sich dem Kunststudium, aber
bald fängt er an, sich für die Industriewelt und deren
Produkte zu interessieren und er leistet seinen
Beitrag zur Erforschung und Entwicklung neuer
Elektrohaushaltsgeräte. Einige Produkte waren auch bei
internationalen Ausstellungen zu sehen: „Design: Miroir
du Siècle“ (1993, Paris), „Abitare il tempo - progetti e
territori“ (1993, Verona), „European Design - Design as
Identity“ (1996, Kopenhagen).

Complementi della vita domestica, piccoli “mobili” chiamati
a svolgere funzioni utili anche se apparentemente secondarie
nella casa: dal portaombrelli, all’orologio, dal tavolino alla fioriera.
Guzzini trasferisce la sua filosofia di design, di materiali
e di colore anche su questi elementi, trasformandoli in grandi
oggetti di arredo, capaci di adattarsi a qualunque stile di casa
portandovi sempre e comunque un gesto di gioia.
Accessories for house life, small “pieces of furniture”, with a
useful, albeit secondary role in the house: umbrella stands,
clocks, small tables, flower boxes on which Guzzini applies its
design, material, colour philosophy, enabling them to become
great pieces of furniture, capable of adapting to every house
style, always with a touch of joy.
Compléments de la vie domestique, des petits «meubles»
destinés à répondre à des fonctions utiles même si ils occupent
un rôle secondaire dans la maison: du porte parapluie à
l’horloge, et de la table basse en passant par le pot de fleur.
Guzzini transfère sa philosophie de design, de matériaux et
de couleurs même sur ces éléments en les transformant en
grands objets de décoration capables de s’adapter à tous les
styles de maison en apportant à chaque fois une touche de
gaieté.

desempeñan funciones útiles, aunque parezcan secundarios
en casa: del paragüero al reloj, del escritorio al florero. Guzzini
pone su filosofía de diseño, materiales y colores también en
