Sahlgrenska Hospital, Gothenburg University, Sweden (1991 and 1993).
Professional Activities
Direction of clinical research activities within the Cardiovascular Department and liaison
between clinical and basic research through the Direction of the CTC (Center for
Translational Cardiology) of the AOUTS.
Cardiology Institution is composed by 133 employees and generates over 2500 admission
per year; 1400 Invasive procedures; more than 50.000 Outpatient clinics and non-invasive
procedures.
Certified autonomy in analysis of Endomyocardial Biopsy through histopathology,
immunohistochemistry and molecular virology.
Advertising, direction and promotion of trans border healthcare cooperation and in the
development, update and implement of trans border protocols in the Emergency in
cardiology (Project e-Cardionet, Italy-Slovenia 2007-2013 and further updates).
Editorial and Scientific Activities
Associate Editor of the European Journal of Heart Failure; Member of editorial board for
Heart-BMJ, Nature and member of the International Scientific Board of the Journal of
Cardiovascular Medicine and Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences. Member of the del
Scientific Committee of the Giornale Italiano di Cardiologia. Member of the End Point
Clinical Event Committee of the ValHeFT Trial. Member of the Steering Committee of the
BRING UP-ANMCO trial and of th Clinical Event end Point Committee of the studies
SENIOR and GISSI HF (Ist. Farmacologico Mario Negri Milano). Chairman of the CandHeart Trial.
Direction of the collaboration with IRCCS Burlo-Garofolo and with l’ICGEB.
Since 2009 direction of the Center of Translational Cardiology (CTC) which collaborates
with the University of Colorado, Denver, CO, USA, and the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN,
USA.
Direction of the research activities and collaboration to the following projects:
- International registries, in particular ESC registries, such as EORP HF Pilot and Long
Term, EORP AF General Pilot and Long term, EORP CMY Long Term, EORP PPCM and
EORP Pregnancy and Heart Disease;
- Multicentric clinical trials regarding Heart Failure Cardiomyopathies, Pulmonary
Hypertension, Devices and Ischemic heart disease.
