In my long carrier in national and international research I had to coordinate and
administer several research for national and international institutions (e.g. the
EU, Italian CNR and Ministry of Research; research topics e.g. “Identity, genetic
tests and individual choices: health care insurance”, “Identity, individuals, human
being and health”, “Permanent International Observatory on Personal Injury
Damages”, “New insurance boundaries between not typical contracts and the
precautionary principle”, full list available upon request) and teaching projects
(doctorates of which I am or was Director or member of the scientific and
administration boards). These experiences have taught me, among else, to
coordinate the substance of projects with the people involved and the
constraints of decreasing budgets.
During my long international and national experience in research and teaching committees, I had
to develop the required skills for mediating different positions and cultures without loosing the
methodological and scientific basis of the aims pursued. This is not a simple task, especially in
international settings where the mainly shared common work language (English) does not
reflects perfectly different scientific and legal cultures. For instance, my experience and skills
proved extremely helpful during the frequent meetings for the elaboration of the European
Principles of Tort Law and in other international scientific committees dealing with ethical and
different cultural issues.
In a complete different setting, as President of the “Association for Palliative treatment”, I
realized how ethical and legal issues discussed in standing committee as the National
committees on bioethics or the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies
have a significant impact on day life of European citizens.
