Security (Very important)
After the Paris attacks of last November, Regione Lombardia and all Italian government institutions have
modified the procedures for accessing their premises and the organization/layout of the venue. Would you
please adhere to the following procedure:









You have to go to N4 Gate of Palazzo Lombardia – please arrive by 8am on each day as the security
procedures can take some time.
If you are not registered, you will have to show your identification document with photograph to
the Conference registration desk situated on the right in the hall of N4 gate.
You will be given the conference badge that will be valid as a visitors pass in order to enter inside
Palazzo Lombardia conference rooms. Carry the conference badge with you together with
identification document during the conference.
If you are already registered, you can go to the security control check wearing your conference
badge.
You will then have to pass through an ‘airport-style’ security checks – please ensure that you do not
carry unnecessary items to avoid any delays in the security area.
After you pass through the security check you will need to take the lift to the first floor.
On the first floor you will find all the instructions in order to reach the Conference rooms.
During the lunch breaks you will need to leave the building to reach the conference lunch facilities.
Please wear the conference badge for identification at all times and to pass the security control on
your way back to the conference rooms.
Please remember to have your ID/passport and the conference badge with you at all times.

Registration Desk
The registration desk is located at the entrance of the Conference rooms area, on the first floor of Palazzo
Lombardia.
On Monday evening the registration desk will be at the Donizetti Self Service Restaurant Piazza città di
Lombardia1, Milano.

Internet Access
The conference will provide free WLAN internet access all over the Congress Center. Each registered
participant will be given an individual password.

o Ice breaker 19.30: Welcome gathering will be held at the Donizetti Self Service Restaurant
located just besides the conference venue, Piazza città di Lombardia 1, Milano.
Tuesday 15 March 2016
o Welcome reception, 20.00 at Acquario Civico di Milano viale Gadio 2, Milano.
Thursday 17 March 2016
o Conference dinner 20.00 at Osteria del Treno via San Gregorio 46, Milano.
Know your chair person
Names of chair persons are given in the Conference Programme. It you are making an oral presentation
please take time to introduce yourself to the person chairing the session.
Oral presentation guidelines
 Oral presentation slots will be strictly 20 minutes long (15 minute presentation and 5 minutes for
questions)
 For presentations before the lunch session, the presentations must be loaded onto the PC in the
allocated session room the evening before or prior to the morning plenary session.
 For presentations after the lunch session, the presentations must be loaded onto the PC in the
allocated session room before proceeding to lunch.
 The presentations should be in PowerPoint (Windows based operating system). We cannot
guarantee other formats and operating systems.
Poster Exhibition
 The maximum size of a poster should be A0 (841mm × 1189mm or 33.11" × 46.81") in portrait
format.
 The material required to attach the posters onto the panels will be provided by the conference
organisers. If you are using your own scotch tape, please be sure it can be detached easily from the
panels.
 The poster exhibition is located in room 1, on the left side of the plenary room. Posters should be
put up at the poster stands with your poster number on Tuesday, 15 March 2016 morning with a
changeover of posters on the evening of Wednesday 16 March and morning of Thursday 17 March.
Information Board
Updates to the programme and any local information will be announced on the information board near the
registration desk.
Coffee and Lunch Breaks
Lunch, Coffee, tea and soft drinks are offered in the poster room.
Exhibition
The Exhibition is located in the room on the left side of the poster room during the whole conference.
Official Congress Language
The official language of the conference is English. All presentations will be held in English, no simultaneous
translation is offered.
How to reach the Conference venue and ice-breaker location
"Palazzo Lombardia", Piazza Città di Lombardia n. 1 Milano, is in walking distance from the Central Railway
Station (Stazione Milano Centrale, mainly long distance trains) and Porta Garibaldi Railway Station
(suburban and regional trains).
The suggested fast and easy way to get to the venue is to use the Underground (Metropolitana, see
http://www.atm.it/en/Pages/default.aspx). The nearest stations are:
Line M2 (green) Gioia stop
Line M5 (lilac) Isola stop
Line M3 (yellow) Sondrio stop
The venue can be reached also by buses number 43 and 60 (stops Via Gioia Via Galvani).
How to reach the Welcome Reception location
Acquario Civico di Milano (viale Gadio 2, Milano) can be reached using the underground Line M2 (green)
stop Lanza. From the Conference venue you can walk to the nearby Line M2 Gioia stop, take the
underground towards Assago/Abbiategrasso and get out at the third stop Lanza, then walk to the Aquarium
(see the attached map).
How to reach the Conference dinner location
Osteria del Treno (via San Gregorio 46, Milano; http://www.osteriadeltreno.it/?lang=en) is located at about
1 km from the conference venue and can be easily reached on foot (see the attached map).
In case you are coming from somewhere else, the nearest underground stop is Line M3 (yellow) Repubblica
stop.
