BANKS OF THE PO RIVER
The bycicle tour on the cycle path of PietolePo-sea-Albarella is by invitation only and is
organized by the sports group Monfardini, in
cooperation with Board of Mantova, Board of
Rovigo, Council of Virgilio, Council of Stienta
and Coop Nord-Est. The event is a tour on
the cycle path on the upper left bank of
the Po river. There is also the assistance
to the cyclists.
Cycle path: Pietole – Governolo – Ostiglia –
Castelmassa – Stienta - S. M. Maddalena
– Poleselle – Papozze – Cavanella –
Albarella.
Departure from Pietole at 8.00 a.m., about
160 Km, about 7 hours.
Exchange break: Ostiglia-Papozze, stop
and refreshment in Stienta. Competition
package at the departure, refreshment at
the rest stop and at the arrival. Possibility
of clothes changing, buffet, return by bus
equipped with a bike carrier.

itinerario alla scoperta degli antichi mestieri
e delle zone umide delle Valli del Mincio.
Un mondo da conoscere attraverso una
visita al Museo Etnografico dei Mestieri del
Fiume a Rivalta sul Mincio, un’escursione
a piedi nell’ontaneto di Monteperego, fino
a raggiungere il suggestivo borgo di Grazie
di Curtatone da cui si parte per navigare
nel mezzo del fiume Mincio, fra ninfee e
spettacolari voli di aironi e altre specie di
uccelli acquatici.
Dalle ore 15.30 alle ore 20.00. Il rientro
è previsto in battello con sbarco a Rivalta
sul Mincio.
Costo: euro 9,00 adulti; euro 6,00 bambini

The boat company “I Barcaioli del Mincio”
suggests an itinerary to search for the
ancient trades and the wetlands of the
Mincio Valleys in cooperation with the Pro
Loco Amici di Rivalta. This is a world visitors
should know through the visit to the “Museo
etnografico dei mestieri del fiume” in Rivalta
sul Mincio and a walking tour in the alder
woods of Monteperego, until the suggestive
small village of Grazie di Curtatone. This is
the starting point for the navigation of the
Mincio river, among the water lilies and
the spectacular flights of herons and other
species of waterfowls.
From 3.30 to 8.00 p.m. The landing will be
in Rivalta sul Mincio.

pesce a Rivalta (10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 luglio)
brindisi ai 25 anni del Parco ripercorrendo
le tappe di istituzione dell’area protetta che
deve i natali proprio a una festa del pesce
di molti lustri fa. Aperitivo ai partecipanti,
ricordando la figura e l’intuizione di Renzo
Regattieri, l’allora sindaco di Rodigo che
fece nascere il comitato promotore per la
costituzione del parco.
Navigazione al tramonto nel cuore della
riserva naturale Valli del Mincio.
Programma: ore 18.30 navigazione sulle
barche degli operatori locali, ore 19.30
aperitivo sulla riva del fiume; a seguire

During the annual Fish Fair in Rivalta (10-12
and 17-19 July) a toast will take place to
celebrate the 25 years of the Park, tracing
the most important moments of this protected
area that was the place where a fish fair
was born for the first time many years ago.
Aperitif for the participants of the event,
in remembrance of Renzo Regattieri, a
former Mayor of Rivalta, who created the
organising committee for the park. Boat trip
into the heart of the Mincio Valleys natural
reserve at sunset.

campo golenale: tiro con l’arco, corsa nei
sacchi, corsa a coppie con secchio d’acqua e
taglio del tronco, giochi equestri della Giostra
del Saraceno e della Quintana dell’Anello
dove si sfideranno i cavalieri abbinati alle
varie contrade.
Premiazione finale per la contrada che ha
realizzato la miglior rievocazione storica, un
palio per la contrada che ha vinto i giochi
medievali, un palio per quella che ha vinto
i giochi equestri.

Saturday afternoon: a parade of 400 people
dressed in period costume will go through
the village streets until the main square,
where every single contrada (which is a
village neighbourhood, a district) takes its
own place. The historical re-enactment in the
presence of Matilde’s Court will turn Sermide
into a town-theatre with period costumes,
re-enactments, colours and music.
Sunday aftenoon: medieval games on the
flood plain field: archery, couples run with
a bucket full of water and cut of the trunk,
equestrian games of the Giostra del Saraceno
and Quintana dell’Anello where the knights
linked with the different districts will fight
for the victory.
Final prize giving to that contrada that has
realized the best historical re-enactment, a
Palio (prize) for the contrada that has won the
medieval games and another prize for that one
that has won the equestrial games.
Dinner in the square for everyone at the
end of the event.

Anche Mantova ha un suo cammino di
fede e tradizione, quello che dalla città
arrivava al Santuario delle Grazie (situato in
località Grazie, a circa 10 Km da Mantova).
I nostri nonni e genitori lo percorrevano
fino ad alcuni anni fa, quando la strada
statale non era molto trafficata.
Viene qui riproposto l’itinerario, ma con
l’ausilio di un battello che partirà dai giardini
di Belfiore sino all’approdo dell’antico borgo
delle Grazie, per scoprire il fitto reticolo di
canali e lo splendido paesaggio acquatico
del Parco del Mincio. Si avrà l’occasione
di ammirare i Madonnari che ogni anno
trasformano il sagrato del Santuario in
un capolavoro dell’arte. Lunghezza: 20
Km (compreso tragitto A/R in barca da
Belfiore alle Grazie).
Orario di partenza: ore 6.30. Durata:
6 ore circa.

– FROM MANTUA TO THE
ANCIENT SANCTUARY ON
FOOT AND BY BOAT
Mantua had a personal walk that symbolized
tradition and faith and it was that one that
went from Mantua to the Sanctuary of Grazie
(placed in Grazie village, about 10 Km from
Mantua). Our parents and grandparents
walked this road until a few years ago, when
the main road was not so busy.
Today, the suggested tour is done with the
help of a boat that will start from the Belfiore
gardens and reach the ancient small village
of Grazie. This is an interesting opportunity to
see the intricate network of channels and the
wonderful water landscape of the Mincio Park.
Tourists will have the opportunity to admire
the street painters (known as Madonnari) that
turn the Sanctuary churchyard into an art
masterpiece. Length: 20 Km (included the
round trip boat from Belfiore to Grazie).
Departure: 6.30 a.m. Time: about 6 hours.

Franceschini completano la scuola bolognese
che nel Seicento dettò legge in Europa. La
collezione si allarga dall’Italia alle Fiandre:

NAVIGAZIONE SULL’ ALTO MINCIO
BOAT TRIPS ON THE UPPER STRETCH OF THE MINCIO
Nella parte alta del Mincio a nord di Rivalta, ovvero da Peschiera del Garda a Goito, il
fiume è navigabile solamente con canoe, a causa di diversi salti e sbarramenti artificiali
(Diga di Salionze, poco prima di Monzambano; salti d’acqua da Borghetto a Pozzolo;
sbarramento di Casale di Sacca poco dopo Goito).
È altresì presente un salto d’acqua tra il lago Superiore e il lago di Mezzo (Vasarone).
On the upper stretch of the Mincio, north of Rivalta, that is from Peschiera to Goito,
the river is navigable with a canoe only, due to a number of barrages (dyke of Salionze
slightly before getting to Monzambano; waterfalls between Borghetto and Pozzolo,
barrages at Casale di Sacca, past Goito). There is a waterfall between the lago Superiore
and Lago di Mezzo (Vasarone).
