Il mondo accoglie Aterballetto: Asia, Medio
Oriente ed Europa. L’attività della Compagnia
negli ultimi quattro mesi del 2007 sarà intensa,
tra tournée e lavoro in sala per le nuove creazioni.

The last four months of 2007 will be full of
activity: in addition to the tours, the Company
will be working on new ballets.

DEBUTTO DI DUE NUOVE CREAZIONI
DEBUT OF TWO NEW WORKS
In dicembre debutteranno due nuove creazioni: una del direttore
artistico Mauro Bigonzetti ed una di Walter Matteini, ballerino
ed emergente coreografo già creatore per la compagnia di Luce
Bianca che ha debuttato nel luglio 2007.
Entrambe le coreografie saranno ispirate a differenti aspetti
dell’opera e della vita di Ludovico Ariosto, figura di spicco del
panorama letterario cinquecentesco italiano, che ebbe i natali
a Reggio Emilia, città sede della Compagnia.
Il debutto sarà il 14 e 15 dicembre 2007 all’interno delle
celebrazioni per i 150 anni del Teatro Valli di Reggio Emilia che
ha ospitato la prima mondiale delle ultime nuove creazioni di
Mauro Bigonzetti, tuttora rappresentate in teatri in Italia e
all’estero.
L’Ariosto e i personaggi dell’Orlando Furioso, la vita dell’autore
e le sue creature letterarie saranno il filo conduttore della
creazione di Bigonzetti che si avvarrà dell’artista Angelo Davoli
per le scene e di Guglielmo Capone per l’ideazione dei costumi.
In December two new works will make their debut: one is by the
artistic director Mauro Bigonzetti. The other is by Walter Matteini,
a dancer and emerging choreographer, who also created Luce
Bianca for Aterballetto (premiered in July 2007). Both ballets are
inspired by different aspects of Ludovico Ariosto’s life and work.
Ariosto, one of the major representatives of Italian 16th century
literature, was from Reggio Emilia, the home city of the Company.
The premiere, scheduled on 14 and 15 December 2007, is part of
the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Teatro Valli in
Reggio Emilia. This theatre has already hosted the world premiere
of several works by Mauro Bigonzetti, which are still represented
in Italy and abroad.
Ariosto and the protagonists of the Orlando Furioso, the author’s
life and his literary creations will be the leit motiv of Bigonzetti’s
new work. The artist Angelo Davoli will collaborate for the set
design, while Guglielmo Capone will ideate the costumes.

immaginazione, ha tradotto sentimenti e passioni umane in
personaggi e, quei personaggi con le loro storie hanno superato
qualsiasi confine ed hanno evidenziato l’assoluta universalità
dell’uomo, della sua natura, dei suoi sentimenti”.

characters. These characters and their stories have gone beyond
all boundaries and have evidenced the absolute universality of
human beings, of their nature and feelings.”

Matteini, dal canto suo, avrà come tema conduttore le Satire
dell’Ariosto e la loro attualità.
Matteini’s ballet will focus on Ariosto’s Satires and show us how
they are still up-to-date.
“Composte negli anni tra il 1517 e il 1525, le Satire, oltre a
rappresentare un’innovazione per ragioni di ordine strutturale, ci
trasmettono anche un’impietosa e lucidamente consapevole
visione del mondo morale, sociale e politico in cui l’Ariosto si
trovò a vivere. Questo sarà il nostro punto di partenza. In noi non
c’è volontà di mettere in scena le Satire o raccontare una storia.
“Semplicemente” evidenziare come l’animo, il pensiero umano,
la sfera socio-politica, a distanza di secoli si sia o non evoluta.”
“Composed between 1517 and 1525, the Satires are innovative
from a structural point of view. They also convey a ruthless and
clearly conscious vision of the moral, social and political world
in which Ariosto lived. This will be our staring point. We do not
wish to stage the Satires or to recount a story. We “simply” want
to show how the soul, man’s thought and the social and political
sphere has or has not evolved thorough the centuries.”

ATERBALLETTO SPECIAL AT THE TEATRO VALLI
Per celebrare i 10 anni della direzione artistica di Mauro Bigonzetti all'Aterballetto il 13 e 14 novembre sarà a lui “affidato” il Teatro
Valli per una serie di appuntamenti con Aterballetto. Sotto la direzione di Bigonzetti, per due giorni, la compagnia accoglierà la
città e chi vorrà partecipare con una serie di eventi composti sia da programmi tratti dall’ampio repertorio, sia con la formula
Carta Bianca al coreografo con un coinvolgimento diretto dei danzatori anche a livello creativo. Una parte di queste manifestazioni
sarà dedicata a Macha Daudel, danzatrice storica dell’Aterballetto, arrivata in compagnia quando la direzione artistica è andata
in mano a Bigonzetti, e che quest’anno ha deciso di concludere la sua carriera.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his artistic direction at Aterballetto, the Teatro
Valli will be “entrusted” to Mauro Bigonzetti on 13 and 14 November. Under his
supervision the Company will greet the citizens of Reggio Emilia with a series of
performances and other events including works from the repertory, Carte blanche
and other activities involving the dancers’creativity.
Part of these events will be dedicated to Macha Daudel, historic dancer of
Aterballetto who entered in the Company when Mauro Bigonzetti became artistic
director and who has now decided to end her career as a dancer.

TOURNÉE DELL’ATERBALLETTO
A settembre e ottobre 2007, dopo il 2005 e il 2006, Aterballetto andrà in Asia
per la quarta volta da quando Bigonzetti è direttore artistico. La Compagnia sarà
impegnata da metà settembre al 4 ottobre.
La prima tappa sarà Macao, regione a statuto speciale della Repubblica Popolare
Cinese, con uno spettacolo presso il Grand Auditorium del Cultural Arts Center
il 22 settembre, nell’ambito della stagione di danza, con Omaggio a Bach - Songs
- Cantata; Macao sarà seguita da una recita di Romeo and Juliet a Bangkok, in
Thailandia, il 27 settembre, presso la Main Hall del Thailand Cultural Centre in
occasione della nona edizione dell’International Festival of Dance and Music,
per l’80° compleanno di Sua Maestà il Re Bhumipol.
In seguito la compagnia volerà in Corea del Sud. Prima a Daegu, il 30 settembre,
presso il Daegu Cultural & Arts Centre presenterà Omaggio a Bach - Rossini Cards,
con le musiche eseguite dal vivo dal M. Bruno Moretti; poi sarà il 4 ottobre presso
il National Theater of Korea a Seoul nell’ambito del Seoul International Dance
Festival con lo stesso programma. Queste ultime partecipazioni registrano un
forte interessamento e sostegno con promozione da parte dell’Ambasciata
Italiana.
Su invito dell’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Tel Aviv, Aterballetto parteciperà il
18 e 19 ottobre al festival DancEuropa 2007, esibendosi presso l’Opera d’Israele
di Tel Aviv. In questa occasione varranno rappresentate WAM e Cantata, con le
musiche eseguite dal vivo.
Aterballetto parteciperà anche al festival Europalia 2007, che si svolgerà a
Bruxelles, il 27 ottobre, su invito dell’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Bruxelles. Solo
per questa edizione parteciperanno tutti i 27 paesi membri dell’Unione Europea.
Già nel 2003 la Compagnia era stata una delle protagoniste di questo Festival,
nell’edizione dedicata interamente all’Italia. Per l’edizione 2007 Aterballetto
presenterà presso il Teatro Wolubilis di Bruxelles Romeo and Juliet, con il sostegno
del Ministero per gli Affari Esteri e della Regione Emilia-Romagna.
La sera successiva quattro danzatori della compagnia si esibiranno in un evento
speciale davanti ai parlamentari europei presso il Palazzo del Comitato delle
Regioni e dei poteri locali dell’UE (CDR) presentando Songs ed un solo tratto da
Absolutely Free. Questa iniziativa è stata organizzata dalla Provincia di Reggio
Emilia e dal suo presidente Sonia Masini.

In September and October 2007 Aterballetto will
return to Asia for the fourth time – the preceding
tours were in 2005 and 2006 – since Mauro
Bigonzetti is artistic director. The Company will
be engaged from mid September to October 4th.
The first performance will take place on 22
September in Macao, a Special Administrative
Region of the People’s Republic of China, at the
Grand Auditorium of the Cultural Arts Center.
The Company will present the triple-bill Omaggio
a Bach – Songs – Cantata within the theater’s
season.
The tour will continue in Bangkok, Thailand: on
27 September the Company will perform Romeo
and Juliet at the Main Hall of the Thailand
Cultural Centre, within the 9th edition of the
International Festival of Dance and Music and
on occasion of the 80th birthday of His Majesty
King Blumibol.

The Company will then proceed to South
Korea: it will appear on 30 September at
the Daegu Cultural & Arts Centre in the
double-bill Omaggio a Bach – Rossini Cards,
with music performed live by the Maestro
Bruno Moretti. The Company will present
the same program at Seoul’s National
Theater of Korea on 4 October, within the
Seoul International Dance Festival. The
performances in South Korea are supported
and promoted by the Italian Embassy.

The following evening four Aterballetto
dancers will be engaged in a special gala
for the Members of the European
Parliament at the headquarter of the
Regions Committee of the UE. The dancers
will present Songs and a solo from
Absolutely Free. The event is organized by
the Province of Reggio Emilia and its
President Sonia Masini.
IN ITALY
Nei pochi periodi in cui la Compagnia sarà in Italia, oltre che impegnata in
sala per le due nuove creazioni, sarà al Teatro Rossini di Lugo il 30 ottobre
con Chant Pastoral - Saminas - Rossini Cards, e al Teatro Guglielmi di Massa
il 21, 22 e 23 dicembre per Romeo and Juliet.
