Member of the organizing committees of national and international conferences, workshops and
schools. Member of the Directorial Board of the Italian Association on Magnetism (Aimagn).
Supervisor of candidates for doctor’s degree and doctoral degree thesis in Chemistry, Material
Science and Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology; he also supervises the research
activities and specialization of the foreigner and Italians post-docs, Erasmus students and
European graduate students of the Marie Curie Training Center. He participated several times to
the jury committees of the thesis of PhD courses in France and Spain.
Reviewer for many important journals in Chemistry and Material Science (Angew. Chem., Adv.
Mater., Phys. Rev. B, J. Am. Chem. Soc., ACS Nano, etc.. ). Referee for FIRB projects (Italy),
Regione Piemonte, (Italy) INFM Projects (Italy), ), French Nartional Research Agency,
Romanian Science Foundation and the Estonian National Science Foundation.
Teaching activity: 2001-2004: General and Inorganic Chemistry courses - Corsi di Laurea in
Ingegneria Civile ed Ingegneria per l’Ambiente ed il Territorio. He regularly teaches “Magnetic
Nanoparticles” within the course “Molecole Magnetiche”, Corso di Laura specialistica in Fisica,
Facoltà di Scienze Matematiche Fisiche e Naturali and from 2003 to 2007 “Method for Structure
Resolution by XRD” for the course on Crystallography and X-Ray Diffractometry - Faculty of
Pharmacy University of Florence. In 2008 he was invited to give the course for PhD students
“Nanomagnetism: from molecules to particles” at Instituto de Quimica de Universidade Federal
Fluminense, Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). He currently holds courses on nanomagnetism for
graduate students of the Chemistry course at the Univ. of Florence.
Research Grants
- Besides the projects currently in progress (listed above) he participated to the following
projects :
- Scientific responsible of the Italian project PRISMA and of the projects BIOMAG, NAN04I+MT
and MAGHYP in the Network of Excellence ”Magmanet” of the VI FP; Local coordinator of the
Integrated European Laboratory Magnetic, Magnetotransport and thermal measurements.
Responsible for the INSTM-Florence node in the FP7 large scale project “Nanother”.
- Participant in National Research Project, PRIN, FISR, FIRB, and C.N.R. funds. Participant to
the Research Training Network, RTN, of EC in the V (“Molnanomag”) and VI “(Quemolna”) FP
and in the FP7 project “NanoMagma”. Responsible of the CNR project “modulo PM.P05.012.001
