Maria Chiara Pettenati Research Director at INDIRE (National Institute of Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research) — Teachers Training Area Maria Chiara Pettenati was born in Bujumbura (Burundi) in December 17 th 1970. She holds an honours degree in Electronics Engineering (1996) and a PhD in Telematics and Information Society (2000) from the Electronics and Telecommunications Deopartment of the University of Florence. Since 1/2014 she is Research Director at INDIRE (National Institute of Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research) a public research institute whose main mission is to sustain the evolution of the Italian educational system through technology-enhanced teachers training, system actions for improvement and innovation. Her main research interests deal with teachers' training (Induction and Continuous Professional Development), educational technologies, e learning and e-knowledge, in which she authored also a number of scientific papers, also cited in the selected bibliography. Cited papers present models of high impa ct since they can be generalized and currently serve as basis for several research experiences often involving great number of users (newly qualified or in-service teachers). At INDIRE she is research unit leader in several projects related to teachers training (induction and Continuous Professional Development). Among the most important are: 1) Neoa ssunti, the mandatory tra ining progra ms for Newly Qua lified Tea chers jointly organised by INDIRE and the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR), involving about 85.000 teachers in 2015-2016, 30.000 teachers in 2014-2015, 15.000 teachers in 2013-2014. 2 ) D o c e n t i l n F o r m a z i o ne , t e a c h e r s t r a i n i n g p ro g r a m i n i n n o v a t i v e t ea c h i n g m e t h o d s conducted within EDOC@WORK Project (Research & Competitiveness National Operative Programme 2007-2013: Smart Cities and Communities and Social Innovation), committed to accelerate the conditions enabling educational innovation in Apulia region. Her research focuses aims at identifying principles, patterns and technologies which supports professionalism and alternation for teachers professional development and awareness so as to train teachers throughout their lifelong formai and informa! occasions of development, starting from ITE (Initial teacher Education) towards continuous development. The research dispositive implemented in several training initiatives conducted by INDIRE (the recursion between immersion and distancing from the practice; the presence of questions which help reflection; the possi bility of building narratives connecting personal practice to theoretical perspectives, such as portfolio) can favour teachers professional development along this direction. 12/2013 Maria Chiara Pettenati was Program Manager for the ICON Between 01/1/2012 — Foundation (International Center of Computational Neurophotonics, http://www.iconfoundation.net/) a no profit research Foundation participated by LENS (European Laboratory of non-linear Spectroscopy), IBM and the University of Florence, promoting the dissemination of knowledge in optics applied to neuroscience, computer science, networks and complex distributed systems. Her main task was the support of the Foundation directional organs in the management of the Foundation. She favoured ICON's activities as a technical support to applied research in biomedical engineering, she ensured coordination of the technological agents 1 working for the Foundation; she favoured local, national and international collaborations, the Foundations activities promotion as well as found -rising for applied research projects; she cornmunicated and disseminateti the Foundation's activities and resul ts. Between 01/11/2004 - 20/12/2011 she was fixed-terni researcher , Telecommunications and Electronic Engineering curricula at the University of Florence. Between 01/03/2000 - 28/02/2004 she was post-doctoral researcher at the University of Florence - Ele ctro ni cs and Te le co mmunic atio n s D e p artme nt. He r main a ctivi tie s and re sp o nsib ilitie s were 1) e-knowledge and e-Iearning applications and telernatic architectures 2) the development of telematic architectures and services to support trusted relation in e -comrnerce applications (TISP — Trust Intermediary Service Provider project). Design of the project proposal, Scientific management of the project, Supervision of PhD students in related fields 3) the design and development of a system to provide high quality government services to citizens respecting public administrations autonomy and autho rity (eGovSM project). Supervision of a PhD student in the field. 1 — 3 / 1 2/2011 she was Lecturer in the post -grad uate PhD course "Telematics and Information Society" University of Florence Electronics and - Between 01/11/2002 Telecommunications Department teaching the following seminars: "Trust Management in Telematic Systems" (2002-2005), "Web Science Framework and Web of Data" (since 2009) and "Personal Knowledge Management for Lifelong Learning" (since 2009) Between 01/11/2001 — 2013 Member of the Core Scientific Committee (2001-2006) and Lecturer (2001-2009) in the interdisciplinary post-graduate Master degree "e-Learning Technologies and Methods", of the University of Florence (Faculties of Engineering and Educational Sciences). Between 01/11/2001 - 30/07/2005 she was Lecturer in the Telematics undergraduate course in the Computer Science, Telecommunications and Electronic Engineering curricula at the University of Florence. Between 01/12/1996 - 31/12/1999 she was PhD visiting student at EPFL (Ecole Politechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) Switzerland. Her PhD thesis is titled "Design and evaluation of a Web based environment for teaching and learning" and was developed around the project MEDIT Multimedia Environment for Distributed Interactive Teaching (1996 — 1999) funded by the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in collaboration with the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) of Rouen, France. The project aimed at developing a n authoring environment for the creation of web-based course activities to support Fluid Mechanics teaching at EPFL, CH. The project developed educational methods and technologies for Higher Education teaching. Between 2001 and 2014 she was advisor and co-advisor for several PhD students in "Telematics and Information Society" related to educational technologies, e -knowledge and knowledge management, information engineering.
