PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
I have extensive, solid experience in large scale Project Management acquired at Italian firms and
multinationals. During my career, I have been assigned positions of increasing responsibility, most
recently as Solution Engagement Manager – Radio Access at Nokia Siemens Networks Italia.
I have a results-oriented mindset and have proven design and problem solving skills matched by
determination and the search for the best possible solutions, even in emergency scenarios, in addition
to the ability to motivate assigned resources and optimum management of key customers.
CAREER HISTORY
1.
Nokia Siemens Networks Italia SpA
World leading multinational in Telecommunications.
 Technical Sales Support – 2003 - 2012
NSN relies on a hierarchical/functional matrix structure for its organisation, requiring the
position to work in close cooperation with the Radio Access Account Manager in the
Customer Team assigned by the first level Line Manager.
Initially supported various business cases aimed at the LATAM market, working primarily with
two of the leading operators in Italy, helping to consolidate and expand NSN’s market share
as regards GSM and UMTS radio access. Successfully started up a small private network
using LTE technology (4G) for the operator Wind.
Worked with solutions such as PDM & CSP to ensure efficient order management. The IPC
product configurator was also one of the tools used to define tender specifications; once the
specifications were frozen, they were automatically transferred to the SAP P20 environment
used by the Finance & Control department and Logistics for order processing. Using these
supports resulted in shorter processing times and reduced the potential for human error, in
addition to representing a standard mode of operation for other users and for other projects.
Main Achievements:
 Modernisation of Telecom Italia’s mobile network with innovative solutions (referring
specifically to the GSM network). The sales contract for the 2G network alone was worth
around €5.25 m.
 Modernisation of Wind Italy’s GSM & UMTS radio mobile network, introducing new functions
aiming to enhance 3G data service performance (HSDPA+). The contract brought a sales
volume of approximately €9m in 2010-2012 for the radio access network alone.
 Implementation of an experimental micro network based on LTE technology (4G), now in
operation for some time and undergoing further expansion.
2.
Siemens Mobile Communications SpA
Privately owned company created as a result of the merger between Italtel’s radio mobile division
and Siemens Italia’s mobile business unit
 GSM & UMTS System Engineer – 1999 - 2002
In charge of coordinating local resources involved in developing simulation programmes as
part of the work for the ETSI & 3GPP standardization agencies. Also required to provide presales support to the sales force relating to the different tenders where the company
participated. The experience gained in standardisation resulted in an increase in technical
know-how gained by working with the top agencies and manufacturers at global level.
Undertook intensive in-house training targeting the company’s workforce. Main subjects of
training included: the Radio network Sub-System, Network planning & Engineering with
specific reference to interference in 2G and 3G networks.
Main achievements:
 Provided support to a major Chinese operator for consolidation and expansion of the 2G
network
 Technical support for tenders for assignment of 3G Radio Access open to the major Italian
operators (gaining significant market share in the Telecom Italia, Wind and H3G networks).
3. Italtel spa
State-controlled Italian company, whose radio mobile division merged with the privately-owned
Siemens Mobile Communications,
 Research & Development – radio access - 1983 - 1998
Initially a researcher in Italtel’s new R&D group focusing on radio mobile networks, leading to
opportunities to attend training courses at G. Reiss Romoli Telecommunications College in
Aquila, and one year (1984) collaboration with CSELT (currently TILab, Telecom Italia’s
laboratory).
In 1986, worked on a European project to define second generation radio mobile systems,
requiring nine months relocation to Stuttgart, Germany, at the former Standard Elektric Lorentz
(currently SEL Alcatel AG).
The subsequent SW development of the radio modules for GSM Radio Base Stations,
produced by Italtel led to an International patent deposited by Italtel as “essential” for
production of the relative apparatus (with a positive impact on payable royalties).
Remit:
1. Responsible on behalf of Italtel for the “Progetto Finalizzato Telecomunicazioni” coordinated by CNR (Italian research centre) with the participation of the major operators,
research centres and TLC manufacturers. Given complete autonomy for handling
technical and organisational issues associated with financed projects.
2. Responsible on behalf of Italtel for operations associated with the COST231,
RACE/CODIT European projects;
3. Coordinator and coach for several in-house training courses on 2G and 3G radio
systems, interference analysis and mobile network planning.
