Virginie Pochon Soprano The French soprano Virginie Pochon studied musicology at the University of Lyon and continued her vocal studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon coached by Lorraine Nubar and Margreet Honig. She later joined the Opéra Studio of the Opéra National de Lyon. Part of the ensemble of the Opéra National de Lyon until 2004, Virginie Pochon has interpreted many roles including Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Sophie in Werther, Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Frasquita in Carmen, Giannetta in L’Elisir d’amore, Annio in La Clemenza di Tito and Musetta in La Bohème. Out of Lyon, Virginie Pochon performed as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Opéra National de Paris, Camille in Charpentier’s Louise at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Rosina in Mozart’s La Finta Semplice at the Angers-Nantes Opéra and the role of l’Ange in Messiaen’s Saint François d’Assise at the Lucerne Festival. Past engagements have included Constance in Dialogues des Carmélites at the Opéra de Toulon, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro and Despina in Cosi fan tutte at the Opéra de Montpellier, Annette in the French version of Von Weber’s Der Freischütz at the Opéra Comique in Paris and at the BBC Proms with John Eliot Gardiner conducting, Jacqueline in Messager’s Fortunio at the Opéra Comique, Serpina in La Serva Padrona at the Angers-Nantes Opéra, Dircé in Medée at La Monnaie in Brussels, Frasquita in Carmen at the Opéra Comique and at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Despina in Cosi fan tutte at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie and the Opéra de Rouen, Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte at the Angers-Nantes Opéra, Karolka in Jenufa at the Angers-Nantes Opéra and at the Opéra de Marseille, Nadia in La veuve joyeuse at the Opéra de Montpellier, Brigitta in Iolanta at De Nederlandse Opera, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera at the Opéra de Montpellier, Juliette in Roméo et Juliette and Musetta in La Bohème both at the Opéra National de Lyon, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Théâtre du Châtelet and Despina in Cosi fan tutte at the Opéra de Rennes. She has had the pleasure to collaborate with conductors such as Kent Nagano, Sir Neville Marriner, Paolo Olmi, Marc Minkowski, Armin Jordan, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Louis Langrée and Peter Eötvös.
