COVO è un brand di complementi di arredo, in particolare di
furniture e tableware, nato nell’aprile del 1997 dall’intuizione
del suo fondatore, Stefano Fragapane, di considerare lo
status di imprenditore non più come semplice realizzatore di
prodotti, ma come editore illuminato di oggetti “non comuni” e
dal “design emozionale”.
COVO is a furnishing brand, in particular of furniture and
tableware, born in April 1997 from the intuition of his founder
Stefano Fragapane who considers the status of businessman no
longer as a simple maker of products, but as a learned publisher
of “not common” items with an “emotional design”.
Those items respond to a new concept of usability and are
thought to fulfil their function and, first of all, to respond to the
human need to get excited.
Oggetti che rispondono ad un nuovo concetto di usabilità,
pensati per far bene la loro funzione ma anche e soprattutto
per rispondere al bisogno umano di emozionarsi.
Oggetti inaspettati, la cui vera ricchezza di significati è giocata
su un preciso equilibrio tra senso e segno, tra forma e funzione.
Forte di una tradizione estetica che associa l’idea di eleganza
al concetto di semplicità, COVO in questi anni di attività ha
sviluppato un linguaggio autonomo e fortemente riconoscibile,

COVO directs and manages research with a sensitive eye. This
research ranges from the skilful use of materials to the far-sighted
selection of international high-level producers. COVO shapes
the voice of designers and thanks to an ironic spirit toward the
field of experimentation, doesn’t overstep the limit of useless
showmanship.
L’estro delle forme e la cura dei materiali, con COVO,
diventano protagonisti e il prodotto finale brilla di
un’estetica fresca e personalissima che non sacrifica nulla alla
funzionalità. Questo ha significato per COVO, puntare da
subito sulla costruzione di un’identità forte avvalendosi della
collaborazione di brillanti designer, sia affermati che giovani,
capaci di un forte carattere espressivo.
The fantasy of form and the attention to materials become
protagonists. The final product shines with a fresh and extremely

arricchire il “dizionario” del design. Oggetti semplici e sapienti,
fatti di pochi segni ma capaci di restare nella memoria.
The “NOT COMMON THINGS” by COVO enrich the design
“dictionary”. Simple and wise objects made of few signs, but
capable of being remembered.
Nella satura condizione contemporanea, siamo sempre più
circondati da un mondo di “cose”. Cose concrete e cose
astratte, cose reali e immaginarie, cose sacre e cose profane,
cose che servono e che non servono, cose buone e cose
cattive. Il Design si occupa di queste cose e può farlo in molti
modi: ripensando, inventando, copiando, rivestendo, giocando
o prendendosi sul serio. Oppure, come cerca di fare COVO,
osservando. Osservando il mondo di “cose” che ci circonda
e provando a immaginare nuove presenze che vadano a
prendere posto negli spazi vuoti della nostra immaginazione.
In the saturated contemporary condition, we find ourselves
more and more surrounded by a world of “things”. Material and
immaterial things, real and imaginary things, sacred and unholy
things, useful and useless things, good and bad things.
The Design takes care of these things and does it in many ways. It
rethinks, reinvents, copies, covers, plays around or is serious. Or, like
COVO tries to do: it observes the world of “things” around us and
it tries to imagine new objects which will find their place in the
empty spots of our imagination.
COVO’s objects are born from the careful exploration of the
material landscape, thinking of our world as a sheet full of
signs which too often are confused and loose their meaning. As
in children’s drawings, or in prehistoric graffiti, where few lines
describe worlds and stories, the “NOT COMMON THINGS” by
COVO try to offer simplicity by erasing confusion and focusing on
emotion rather than reason.
Oggetti nati, dunque dall’attenta esplorazione del paesaggio
materiale, pensando al nostro mondo come ad un foglio pieno
di segni che troppo spesso si confondono, perdendo ogni
loro significato. E come succede nei disegni dei bambini, o nei
graffiti preistorici, dove poche linee descrivono mondi e storie,
le “NOT COMMON THINGS” di COVO provano a regalare
semplicità, cancellando la confusione e riportando i significati
all’emozione più che alla ragione.
From clothes hangers resembling tree branches, chairs like
prominent midriff, seats that embrace, “magic” lamps that raise,
photo frames like strings stretched on the wind and soft crystals,
our world of “things” becomes a world of simple “signs”. The “NOT
COMMON THINGS” by COVO are autonomous objects, capable
of relating with all our landscapes and with the story of COVO.
E dunque, ecco che tra attaccapanni come rami, sedute
come pance prominenti, ma anche poltrone che abbracciano,
lampade “magiche” che crescono, portafoto come fili tesi al
vento e cristalli morbidi, il nostro mondo di “cose” diventa
un mondo di “segni”. E le “cose non comuni” di COVO
sono oggetti autonomi, capaci di relazionarsi con tutti i nostri
paesaggi, ma sono anche frasi di uno stesso racconto, il
racconto di COVO.

A Floor Lamp si basa sul semplice meccanismo di una trave in equilibrio.
Una lunga gru attraverso la stanza e gli equilibri di un paralume su
un lato, contro un sacchetto di sabbia dall’altro. Il sacco di sabbia può
essere spostato manualmente in quattro posizioni di pesatura in diverse
configurazioni di illuminazione.
A Floor Lamp is based on the simple mechanism of a beam balance. A
long beam cranes across the room and balances a lampshade on one side
against a sandbag on the other. The sandbag can be moved manually into
four positions weighing in different lighting situations.

Alfred non è la solita sedia, sta bene in ogni parte della casa: in
corridoio, nella stanza da letto, nella cabina armadio. Grazie a dei piccoli
accorgimenti diventa un appendiabiti perfetto: l’impronta superiore
accoglie la cinta, la cravatta o un foulard; la traversa è per appendere gli
abiti; il piano di appoggio è utile anche per impilare libri e riviste.
Alfred is not a usual chair, it fits in every part of the house: in a hallway, in
a bedroom, and even in a fitting room. Thanks to small details it becomes
a perfect clothes hanger: the imprint/hook at the top can accommodate a
belt, a tie or a scarf; the cross-bar is for hanging clothes, while the ground
plane is useful for piling up magazines and books.

Big Pipe Table è un tavolino che ricorda un grosso tubo scavato nel
centro. La sua principale caratteristica è la semplicità che gli offre la
flessibilità necessaria per adattarsi a molteplici utilizzi, in vari diversi
ambienti. Inoltre, il motivo decorativo stampato sulla faccia superiore
di ogni piano è utile come la glassa sulla torta dalla forma semplice.
Big Pipe Table is a side table which shaped as if hollowed out from a big
pipe. The characteristic of simple shape makes it possible to be flexibly
applied to various scenes. In addition, the graphics printed on the top plate
serve as the icing on the cake to the simple shape.

a New York il designer passa sotto cavi riempiti da centinaia di uccelli.
Birds On Wire è il tentativo di catturare questa immagine in un
prodotto. Una foto di questa vista è stata trasformata in metallo tagliato
a laser con ganci per le giacche.
The Birds On Wire coat rack borrows its shape from, well, birds on a wire.
Every day on his commute into New York City, the designer passes under
wires filled with hundreds of birds. He sought to capture this beautiful sight
in a product. A photograph was abstracted and turned into a laser cut
metal outline with hooks for coats.

Bloated si ispira all’immagine di un pancia prominente vincolata da una
cintura. Gli sgabelli sono in pelle imbottita in poliuretano espanso. Ogni
pezzo assume una forma leggermente diversa, la pelle trova ogni volta
il suo modo per aggirare la struttura in legno.
Bloated was inspired by the image of a prominent midriff being constrained
by a belt. The stools consist of leather sheets filled with expanded foam.
Each piece takes on a slightly different shape from the next as the leather
forms its way around the wooden support.

in need of some brain food. It derives its layout from the archaic form of an
animal’s manger and offers a built-in bookmark.

deriva dalla lingua finlandese e significa “riposo” o “inclinato”.
Height-adjustable and dimmable Noja lamp is combination of light, thin
arm and solid Carrara marble base. Idea for lamp game from two directions.
Figure is from incense stand and action or structure is from fishing rod. The

The surface decoration can then reach the level of the naive popular imagery
which, in the ancient South, has always adorned the dark corners of old

dwellings. So today this meeting of styles, planned with a renewed attention

The handles can be used to move it where it is desired but also to allow a
simple wedging in order to stack them, one over the other, and create an
“infinite” library.

La collezione tableware di COVO ha un proprio carattere e
una propria storia: fatta di molti prodotti, alcuni diventati dei
“must” altri che hanno sperimentato, anticipato, innovato il
concetto stesso di oggetti per la tavola. Oggetti unici e semplici
al tempo stesso, che fanno da scena tanto ai gesti quotidiani
che a quelli più speciali.
The COVO tableware collection has its own character and history:
it is made up of a large number of products, some of which have
become “must-have” items, while others have experimented,
innovated and taken forward the very concept of tableware.
Objects that are both unique and simple, that can play a part in
everyday life just as easily as in special occasions.
Nasce così, “COLLECTION”, una raccolta dei suoi oggetti
più interessanti che abbracciano la filosofia, quella di Covo,
secondo la quale il design deve, prima di ogni cosa, facilitare
la vita, renderla semplice e quindi piacevole. Il design di Covo
è, infatti, un “design for simplicity” capace di rispondere alle
esigenze delle persone e di interpretarne, al tempo stesso,
sogni e desideri.
This is how COVO “COLLECTION” came about. It is a range of the
company’s most interesting pieces which embrace its philosophy
that design must above all make life easier and therefore pleasant.

Sicamba is a trivet but it is also a single element of the “Karakusa” pattern.
Thus the trivet is no longer an object to hide; it actually becomes part of the
decoration in its four different colours, like ornamental fabric.
