Tornano le “cose non comuni” di COVO ad arricchire
il “dizionario” del design. Oggetti semplici e sapienti,
fatti di pochi segni ma capaci di restare nella memoria.
Nella satura condizione contemporanea, siamo sempre
più circondati da un mondo di “cose”.
The “not common things” by COVO return to enrich the
design “dictionary”. Simple and wise objects made of few
signs, but capable of being remembered. In the contemporary saturated condition, we find ourselves surrounded
more and more by a world of “things”.
Cose concrete e cose astratte, cose reali e immaginarie,
cose sacre e cose profane, cose che servono e che non
servono, cose buone e cose cattive.
Material and immaterial things, real and imaginary things,
sacred and unholy things, things which are useful and
things which are not, good and bad things.
Il Design si occupa di queste cose e può farlo in molti modi: ripensando, inventando, copiando, rivestendo,
giocando o prendendosi sul serio. Oppure, come cerca di fare COVO, osservando. Osservando il mondo di
“cose” che ci circonda e provando a immaginare nuove
presenze che vadano a prendere posto negli spazi vuoti
della nostra immaginazione.
The Design takes care of these things and can do it in
many ways: rethinking, reinventing, copying, covering,
playing aroundor being serious. Otherwise, like COVO
tries to do: by observing. Observing the world of “things”
which surrounds us and trying to imagine new objectswhich
will take their places in the empty spots of our imagination.
Oggetti nati dunque dall’attenta esplorazione del paesaggio materiale, pensando al nostro mondo come ad
un foglio pieno di segni che troppo spesso si confondono, perdendo ogni loro significato …
E come succede nei disegni dei bambini, o nei graffiti
preistorici (infanzia stessa dell’umanità), dove poche linee descrivono mondi e storie, le “cose non comuni” di
COVO provano a regalare semplicità, cancellando la
confusione e riportando i significati all’emozione più che
alla ragione.
E dunque ecco che tra attaccapanni come rami, tavoli
come siepi, sedute come prati in fiore, ma anche poltrone che abbracciano, lampade “magiche” che crescono, portafoto come fili tesi al vento e cristalli morbidi, il
nostro mondo di “cose” diventa un mondo di “segni”.
Semplici “segni”, in bianco e nero o a colori, che come
codici emozionali riempiono il foglio bianco dei nostri
spazi.
Objects born therefore, from the careful exploration of the
material landscape, thinking of our world as a sheet full of
signs which too often are confused, and loose their meaning….
As it happens in children’s drawings, or in prehistoric graffiti (humankind’s own infancy), where few lines describe
worlds and stories; the “not common things” by COVO
try to offer simplicity, erasing confusion and focusing on
emotion rather than reason.
Therefore, between clothes hangers resembling tree
branches, tables like hedges, chairs like flowering fields,
seats that embrace, “magic” lamps that raise, photo
frames like strings stretched on the wind and soft crystals,
our world of “things” becomes a world of “signs”. Simple
“signs”, in black and white or in colours, which like emotional codes fill the blank sheet of our gaps.
The “not common things” by COVO are autonomous
objects,capable of relating with all our landscapes, but are
also phrasesof a story, the story of COVO.

sono anche frasi di uno stesso racconto, il racconto di
COVO.

Alfred non è la solita sedia, sta bene in ogni
parte della casa: in corridoio, nella stanza da
letto, nella cabina armadio. Grazie a dei piccoli
accorgimenti diventa un appendiabiti
perfetto: l’impronta superiore accoglie la cinta,
la cravatta o un foulard; la traversa è per
appendere gli abiti; il piano di appoggio è
utile anche per impilare libri e riviste.
Alfred is not a usual chair, it fits in every part of
the house: in a hallway, in a bedroom, and even
in a fitting room. Thanks to small details it
becomes a perfect clothes hanger: the hook at
the top can accommodate a belt, a tie or a scarf;
the cross-bar is for hanging clothes, while the
ground plane is useful for piling up magazines
and books.

L’appendiabiti copia le sue forme da uccelli
posati su fili. Ogni giorno a New York il
designer passa sotto cavi riempiti da centinaia
di uccelli. Birds On Wire è il tentativo di
catturare questa immagine in un prodotto.
Birds On Wire è parte silhouette vittoriana,
parte flashback Flintstoniano che da’ vita a un
complemento funzionale per qualsiasi casa.
The Birds On Wire coat rack borrows its shape
from, well, birds on a wire. Every day on his
commute into New York City, the designer
passes under wires filled with hundreds of
birds. He sought to capture this beautiful sight
in a product. Birds On Wire is one part
victorian silhouette, one part Flintstones
flashback, and one part functional addition to
any home.

Aika means “time” in Finnish: infact, this
smaller wall pendulum clock, that goes
together with Tiuku, is simply “perfect ”
to tick your everyday time.

Un puff che gioca con le geometrie
cristalline delle pieghe. Un materiale,
il poliuretano, che regala una sorprendente
“morbidezza” alle forme rigide e pulite del
cubo. Ma anche elemento di un paesaggio
“continuo” di sedute, doppie, triple … infinite.
A puff which plays with the crystalline
geometry of foldings. The material,
polyurethane, gives a surprising “softness” to the
rigid and clean shapes of the cube. An element
of a “continuous” sitting landscape.

L’archetipo di cornice, che sostiene “fili tesi”
sui quali appendere le proprie memorie,
di un giorno o di una vita, o solo l’appunto
del momento. In metallo verniciato a polveri
nella versione da tavolo o da parete.
The archetype of a frame, which supports
“stretched strings” on which to hang one’s
memories, of a day or of a life, or only the note
of the moment. It is made in powder painted
metal in two versions: for table and for wall.

Un prato artificiale dove, la gomma
restituisce un’insolita estetica che,

A small chair, but also a piece of a
never-ending floral weft. An artificial
meadow where the rubber offers an
“unusual aesthetic” which, in the best
of design’s custom, contaminates
signs and languages.

Una semplice lampada da terra costituita
da due paralumi conici in tela che si
sovrappongono l’uno capovolto sull’altro.
Un gioco di memoria ma anche un oggetto
funzionale adatto, grazie alle tre diverse
misure, a tutti gli ambienti.
A simple lamp made only with two basic
conical shapes in fabric: one on top of the
other. A “play of memories” and, at the
same time, a functional object that is suitable for any environment with
its different three sizes.

Una poltrona costruita da morbidi cuscini
e due braccia espandibili. Un oggetto ludico,
nella versione “hard” foderato in pelle nera
e in quella “pop” in nylon in vari colori.
L’imbottitura, che offre comfort e relax,
è costituita di perle di polistirolo espanso.
Muff Daddy is an armchair with soft cushions
resembling two long arms. A ludic object: with a
“hard” style when it’s covered with black leather,
with a “pop” style when it’s covered with nylon
available in several colours. It keeps white microspheres
inside, offering comfort and relax.

l’archetipo delle classiche sedute del nord
Europa dove la solidità del legno è la matrice
formale. Eno, in chiave contemporanea,
pulisce i segni offrendosi come un classico
destinato a durare oltre le mode.

This chair is inspired, in modern key, by the
classic archetype sitting of North Europe, where
the solidity of the wood is the formal matrix.
Eno, in contemporary key, cleans up the details,
offering itself like a classic object, destined to
outlast fashion styles.

un contenitore ma che può essere mensola.
Le maniglie per spostarlo dove si vuole
ma anche per permettere un semplice
incastro così da impilarli, l’uno sugli altri
e comporre una libreria “infinita”.
A sheet, with simple creases, becomes
a container which can also be a shelf.
The handles can be used to move it where
it is desired but also allow a simple wedging
in order to stack them, one over the other,
to create an “unlimited” library.

semplice e intuitiva. Libri, riviste, giornali, ma
anche ogni piccolo oggetto vogliate tenere a
portata di mano. Dunque un portariviste che
lascia spazio alla fantasia di ognuno di noi.
A tangle of lines, apparently within disorder, can
be used in a simple and intuitive way. Books,
magazines, newspapers, but also small objects
can be kept close-by . This is a magazine holder
that gives space to everyone’s fantasy.

band” which traditionally decorates the walls
of the rural houses. An up-to-date sign, but also
a simple and intuitive object to hang things on
to in an informal way.

concetto di leggerezza e di ridondanza. Le sue
molteplici gambe sembrano essere in moto
perpetuo; in tal modo mettono in discussione la
sensazione di stabilità statica spesso associata

Caterpillar is a stool that elaborates on the
notion of lightness and redundancy. His multiple
legs seem to be set in perpetual motion thus
questioning the static feeling of stability often
associated to a bench.

Illusion can be used as a coffee table as
well as a tray allowing flexibility of use.
The legs give a feeling of lightness and
minimize use of material. Shiny and mat
patterns on the surface play with light
creating reflections.

Osanpo è un set di sgabelli, ispirato nella
morfologia da quattro differenti razze di cani:
Labrador Retriever, Bulldog, Bassotto e
Chihuahua. Ogni sgabello viene prodotto
utilizzando tubi di acciaio e sono disponibili
quattro differenti colori. Osanpo si adatta sia
ad ambienti chiusi che ad ambienti esterni,
per esempio un giardino o una terrazza. Tutti
gli sgabelli riproducono in modo accurato le
caratteristiche dei cani a cui sono ispirati, pur
conservando una struttura semplice e lineare.

Dachshund and Chihuahua. It is made using
steel pipe and is available in various colours.
Osanpo has many uses for interior and exterior
