reminds us of its previous owners of ancient times, the Acciaioli family. The property stands close to

The residence has preserved its charm from repair work undertaken during the seventeenth century,
commissioned by the owners Del Riccio who acquired the property previously.
The recent and lengthy restoration work, in fact, was completed with complete respect for its
historical and architectural value; even the grounds have had vineyards and olive groves reinstated
just as they once existed. The property enjoys an amazing view out onto the Certosa and the Val di
Pesa valley in the area Galluzzo – Tavarnuzze.

Florence is universally renowned as the city of art, with an invaluable heritage that transforms daily
life into a vibrant open air museum.
At the heart of the city is Piazza della Signoria, where towering over the square are Palazzo Vecchio,
gallery masterpieces of the sculptor Giambologna and the famous Uffizi gallery. Just around the
corner is the Duomo (cathedral), with its amazing dome by Brunelleschi, (the biggest ever built),
aside which is Giotto’s Campanile (bell tower) and the Battistero di San Giovanni (Baptistery) with
its famous bronze doors.
The river Arno that runs right through the heart of the city, occupies an historic place in Florentine
history equal to that of the people. Historically the population has a love – hate relationship with the
river, advantageous in commerce, as well as causing disasters and floods. Of the bridges that cross
the river, the Ponte Vecchio (old bridge) is unique in the world with its characteristic jewelry shops
and workshops in the small dwellings built upon it. Crossing over there is the noble Corridoio
Vasariano, (Vasarian corridor), it is also the only bridge that survived the Second World War.
Other than the Uffizi gallery, Florence offers other museums that would be the main attraction for
any big city and the Florentines boast of having the most wonderful example of artistic beauty, both
of male and female stance: Botticelli’s Venus and Michelangelo’s David.
Patrimony of UNESCO, the historic centre of Florence can be admired in all its magnificence from
the Forte Belvedere (fortress), from the Piazzale Michelangelo (square) and from the hills of Fiesole,
all offering the most wonderful views of the Arno river valley.
On the left side of the Arno, the ‘Oltrano’, is an area where, in between craftsman workshops, one
can still breathe the atmosphere of an ancient Florence, as described by Vasco Pratolini and Marcello
Vannucci. But there are so many writers and literary points of interest in the city: from the district of
towered homes that inspired Dante Alighieri, to the serenity of the Ville Medicee (Villas), where the
neo-platonic academy of Lorenzo il Magnifico (Lorence the Magnificent) often met, and last but not
least the theatres, La Pergola and the Gardino di Boboli (Boboli gardens).
