Tenor
Born in Milano, he studied piano and singing and took advanced courses with Alfredo Kraus and
Magda Olivero. In 1996 he made his operatic debut in Due Contesse by Paisiello and Due Baroni
by Cimarosa at the Opera Buffa Festival.
He has since then established an international career, performing regularly in some prestigious
opera houses and festivals, including Teatro alla Scala, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Maggio
Musicale Fiorentino, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli,
Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Massimo “V. Bellini” di Catania, Teatro Verdi di Trieste,
Operanhaus in Leipzig, Opéra de Montecarlo, Sydney Opera House, Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden,
Edinbugh Festival.
He worked with such conductors as Claudio Abbado, Colin Davis, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Donato
Renzetti, Nello Santi, and with directors such as Dmitri Bertman, Robert Carsen, Giancarlo
Corbelli, Filippo Crivelli, Lindsay Kemp, Denis Krief, Franco Zeffirelli and Graham Vick.
His repertory includes works by Piccinni, Paisiello, Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Mercadante, Mozart,
Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni, Giordano, R. Strauss and Stravinskij. His repertory also includes several
national and international premieres of contemporary operas such as Poesie di Puccini by Franco
Mannino, Il fantasma della cabina and Che fine ha fatto la piccola Irene? by Marco Betta, La bella
e la bestia by Marco Tutino, La Tempesta by Henry Purcell/Carlo Galante, La madre del mostro
and Lo stesso mare by Fabio Vacchi, La maschera di Punkitititi by Marco Taralli and Il Re nudo bt
Luca Lombardi.
During the last season 2014/15 he performed as Conte di Fondi in Vespro Sicliano by Peter Joseph
von Lindpaintner at Festival Rossini in Wildbad and as soloist in Messa di Gloria by Puccini with
Orchestra La Verdi di Milano.
He opened the 2015/16 season as soloist in Messa da Requiem by Verdi with Orchestra La Verdi di
Milano. Among his future plans are La bohème at Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina, Messa di
Gloria by Puccini with the Kristiansand Symfoniorkester and Messa da Requiem by Verdi with
Sinfonieorchester Münster
In July 2014 he sang as Radi in Zingari by Leoncavallo at Festival de Radio France under the baton
of Michele Mariotti, followed by La traviata (Alfredo) at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.
His discography includes Die Zauberflöte with Claudio Abbado and with the Mahler Chamber
Orchestra (Deutsche Grammophon, 2006), Le maschere by Mascagni (Kicco Music), La Cecchina
ossia la buona figliola by Piccinni (Bongiovanni), I Capuleti e i Montecchi by Bellini (Dynamic),
Marcella by Giordano (Dynamic) and I Puritani (Hardy Classic; dvd).
