FLORENCE Spring 2017 FUA Extra Curricular Activities Calendar MONDAYS Connecting Cultures This activity is designed to both enhance cultural awareness and to guide students through the study abroad experience in order to maximize their educational outcome and personal growth during their time in Florence. Through Connecting Cultures, students have the opportunity to interact with the Florentine community through Community Outreach, Italian Family Club and Chat Pal, as well as City Walks to help engage with the city. Soccer is the mainstay of Italian athletics and the focus of our sports night. Even if you are not an athlete, everyone is welcome to both have fun on the field or just cheer on your classmates from the stands. Opera events, visits and performances are all part of this special club. Interested in expanding your knowledge of music or just seeing an exciting performance? This activity is for you! Writers, photographers, copy editors, and graphic designers who are excited about publishing their experiences and perspectives gained in Florence, as well as novice writers that just looking for a format to document their experience in Florence, are all welcome. Meeting Point: 8:45pm FUA, Corso Tintori 21 FEBRUARY 2, 16 MARCH 2 APRIL 6, 27 “Mens sana in corpore sano” is the philosophy behind the Mind & Body series of activities. This series includes fitness opportunities meant to inspire students, and special workshops aimed to empower students during the study abroad experience. Meeting point: 8:45pm Apicius, Via Guelfa 85 FEBRUARY 23 Dolce Workshop MARCH 9 Fresh Pasta Workshop Ganzo Themed Dinners A weekly event at Ganzo, these multi-course dinners offer students the opportunity to experience an exceptional meal that is also a true culinary experience. Periodically, the student brigade hosts a final exam dinner, in which they create their own special menu, as a culmination of their experience at Ganzo. Eft offers a well-organized and safe environment that makes the students feel as comfortable and secure as possible so far away from their home. You will find the activities sign up in your personal area. Please note that you cannot make reservations at Ganzo through MyFUA. Sign ups or reservations are not necessary for Aperiganzo/ Aperiart. Deadline to sign up for activities is 12:00pm on Monday of the week of the activity. It is necessary to sign up for all activities you would like to participate in. Failure to sign-up may cause activities to be canceled. Knowing the accurate number of participants allows us to plan, organize & better serve you and we kindly ask you to respect this request. If you sign up for an activity, it is inferred that you will attend. Please note that failure to attend an activity without cancellation will compromise the possibility to participate in future activities.
