The integrated amplifier Supreme 300B Special Edition
can be used both as integrated amplifier or as stereo
amplifier. It starts from the most advanced solutions
reached during the design of Performance 2A3 stereo
amplifier taking them to their highest expression thanks
to the choice of the best electronic components available
on market.
Each component in each amplification stage has been
chosen with the greatest accuracy and this lead us to use
Holco non inductive resistors on signal path and, when
this wasn’t possible due to the high dissipated power,
the choice had been Vishay. In each case the components
we selected are built in respect of MIL specifications and
guarantee a really strict tolerance on nominal values.
We also paid great attention in the design and production
of what we consider the most important part of a tube
power amplifier: the output transformer. This amplifier
uses a transformer handwound using a proprietary
winding scheme that guarantee at the same time maximum
symmetry in winding and a minimum loss ratio. To
improve further the performances on the high end of the
spectrum and to minimize skin effect we use a silver
plated copper Litz wire that assures a leading sonic result.
They are also built with core in M0 (the M0 is the thick
of core in 0,1mm) and the winding is double wire for
avoid the parassistic oscillation and many loss into the
core.
Being characterized by fully symmetrical dual mono
circuitry and individually regulated power supply thanks
to the particular regulator module that has been used
also for Performance 2A3 amplifier, this amplifier assures
really low distortion level until clipping. The driver stage
is composed by differential amplifiers biased with current
source to improve intrinsic linearity.
The output stage is composed by two 300B for each
channel in Push-Pull. In this configuration we achieved
in obtaining 25W in pure class A. The output stage is
fixed biased in order to improve overload recovery
performances and this reflects in an improved reproduction
of dynamic peaks.
The sonic characteristics that have made it famous
troughout the word valves 300B are further ehnanced
by the particular circuitry of the amp that becomes its
strenght in extreme natural mid-high range. Not least
the bass is present, without any coloring, deep and
controlled.
L’amplificatore integrato Supreme 300B Special Edition
può essere utilizzato sia come integrato che come finale
stereo. Esso riprende le più avanzate soluzioni raggiunte
nella progettazione dell’amplificatore Performace 2A3
portandole alla più alta espressione grazie all’utilizzo
di componentistica di altissimo livello.
In ogni stadio di amplificazione la scelta dei componenti
è stata estremamente accurata e ci ha portato ad utilizzare
sul percorso del segnale resistenze non induttive Holco
e, dove questo non era possibile viste le potenze dissipate
in gioco, la scelta è caduta su Vishay. In entrambi i casi
si tratta di componenti rispondenti a norme militari e a
tolleranze sui valori nominali strettissime.
Moltissima attenzione è poi stata riposta nella
realizzazione di quello che consideriamo essere la parte
più importante di un amplificatore valvolare: il
trasformatore di uscita. In questo caso esso è avvolto a
mano utilizzando uno schema di avvolgimento
proprietario che garantisce al tempo stesso la massima
simmetria degli avvoglimenti e un minimo fattore di
perdita. Per incrementare ulteriormente le prestazioni
sull’estremo acuto e minimizzare l’importanza dell’effetto
pelle viene utilizzato filo Litz in rame argentato che
garantisce un risultato sonoro da primato. Inoltre sono
costruiti con il nucleo in M0 (è lo spessore del lamierino
di 0,1 mm) e l’avvolgimento è fatto a doppio filo per
evitare al massimo le oscillazioni parassite e le perdite
nel lamierino.
Essendo caratterizzato da circuitazioni dual mono
completamente simmetriche e alimentazioni regolate
attraverso l’uso del particolare modulo regolatore già
messo a punto per l’amplificatore Performance 2A3,
questo prodotto garantisce livelli di distorsione bassissimi
fino alle soglie del clipping. Queste performances sono
anche raggiunte attraverso l’utilizzo di un driver ad
amplificatori differenziali con pozzo di corrente.
Lo stadio di uscita è composto da due 300B per canale
in configurazione Push-Pull che permette di raggiungere
una potenza erogata di 25W in classe A pura. La
polarizzazione dei circuiti di uscita è di tipo a bias fisso
per garantire un recupero dal sovraccarico migliore e,
quindi, migliori prestazioni sui picchi dinamici.
Le caratteristiche soniche che hanno reso celebre in tutto
il mondo le valvole 300B vengono ulteriormente esaltate
dalla particolare circuitazione di questo amplificatore
che fa della naturalezza estrema in gamma medio alta
il suo punto di forza. Non di meno la gamma bassa
rimane presente, priva di colorazioni, profonda e
controllata.

The Amplifier Performance 2A3 MKII can be used both
as integrated amplifier or as stereo amplifier. It is the
proof of the know-how reached by New Audio Frontiers
circuit design team. Using particular solutions for maximum
circuit simmetrization we managed in obtaining 12W
on 8 Ohm which ensure a great dynamic impression
even on the most difficult musical pieces.
Each single part of the circuit has been at first planned,
then optimized with the aid of computer based simulation
and then bench-tested and tuned-up in order to obtain
the best performances with sophisticated instruments.
This lead us to use a dual-mono configuration, with fully
regulated power supplies even for the power stage that
has a completely dedicated power supply. We designed
a particular voltage regulator module that will be able
to give a constant low output impedance and that at the
same time will not enworse the sound quality. In designing
this circuit we have paid a particular attention in the
attenuation of the disturbances at the input of the amplifier
that today are more and more a problem in a domestic
environment. This become evident also by the use of
electrolytic capacitors of huge capacitance (1360uF total
on output stage power supply, a record value for a tube
amplifier) and by the use of an inductive filter. In order
to maximise output power and dynamic we decided to
configure the output stage in Push-Pull with fixed bias.
This choice improve the overload-recovery of the amplifier
ensuring a better behaviour during dynamic peaks at
high listening level. The driver stage is composed by
differential amplifiers with current source that allow us
to cancel intrinsic non linearities of the amplification
elements. This allows to have a very low distortion level
in output of the amplifier until clipping. All the circuital
choices and components has then been confirmed by
many listening sessions that allowed us to put on sale
this product. The stereo amplifier is recommended with
loudspeaker having a sensitivity of at least 95dB. This
amplifier was designed to be paired with speakers with
a high efficiency type Acappella, Altec, Avantgarde,
JBL, Klipsch etc. The sound quality is indescribable for
its naturalness, leaving space to the sound and offering
a rare example of great musical breath.

L’amplificatore Performance 2A3 MKII può essere utilizzato
sia come integrato che come finale stereo. Esso è la
dimostrazione delle conoscenze e dello know-how
raggiunti dal team di progettazione della New Audio
Frontiers che ha permesso, attraverso particolari soluzioni
volte alla massima simmetrizzazione dei circuiti, di
ottenere 12W reali su 8 Ohm che garantiscono una
grande impressione dinamica anche sui pezzi più difficili.
Ogni singola parte del circuito è stata prima concepita,
quindi ottimizzata con l’ausilio di simulazioni
computerizzate, infine provata a banco e messa a punto
per ottenere le migliori performance attraverso sofisticati
strumenti di misura. Questo ci ha portato a utilizzare
una configurazione completamente dual-mono, con
alimentazioni interamente regolate e del tutto separate
per driver e stadio finale.
Abbiamo messo a punto un particolare modulo regolatore
che potesse darci i vantaggi di una bassa impedenza
di uscita costante e allo stesso tempo non andasse ad
inficiare negativamente sul suono. Nel concepire questo
circuito abbiamo inoltre prestato la massima attenzione
alla attenuazione dei disturbi in ingresso all’amplificatore
che sono sempre più spesso presenti negli odierni impianti
domestici. Questo è anche evidente nella presenza di
condensatori di ragguardevole capacità (ben 1360uF
totali per l’alimentazione delle finali, un valore record
per un valvolare) e nell’uso, nonostante l’alimentazione
regolata di un filtro induttivo. Per massimizzare la potenza
di uscita e le capacità dinamiche abbiamo scelto di
configurare lo stadio di uscita in Push-Pull con bias fisso.
Questa scelta migliora le prestazioni di recupero dal
sovraccarico dell’amplificatore garantendo quindi migliore
comportamento durante i picchi dinamici negli ascolti
ad alto volume. Il driver è poi costituito da amplificatori
differenziali con pozzo di corrente che ci permettono di
cancellare le non linearità intrinseche dei dispositivi di
amplificazioni. Questo permette di avere una distorsione
prodotta dall’amplificatore che si mantiene a livelli
bassissimi fino alle soglie del clipping. Tutte le scelte
circuitali e la componentistica sono state poi confermate
da numerose sessioni d’ascolto che ci hanno permesso
di consegnare al mercato questo prodotto. L’amplificatore
è consigliato vista la potenza d’uscita di 12W con
diffusori di efficienza di almeno 95dB. I trasformatori di
uscita sono di altissimo livello, avvolti a mano con filo
litz in rame argentato, sono costruiti con il nucleo in M0
(è lo spessore del lamierino di 0,1 mm) e l’avvolgimento
è fatto a doppio filo per evitare al massimo le oscillazioni
parassite e le perdite nel lamierino.
Questo amplificatore è stato concepito per essere
accoppiato a diffusori con un’alta efficienza tipo
Acappella, Altec, Avantgarde, JBL, Klipsch ecc. La qualità
sonora è indescrivibile per la sua naturalezza lasciando
spazio al suono e offrendo un raro esempio di grande
respiro musicale.
