Il nostro interesse per gli Afgani è iniziato nel 1978. Mentre stavo con
il nostro produttore di dischi, Ken Gold, mi sono innamorato dei suoi
due Levrieri Afgani ne ho comperato uno il giorno successivo! Dormì
tutto il giorno dopo in uno studio di Londra, mentre noi stavamo registrando il nostro disco di grande successo 'Can you feel the force'. Lo presentai ad una sonnecchiante Julie alle 2 di mattina. Lo chiamammo 'Oscar' e, all’epoca, non pensavo proprio ad esposizioni
o mostre canine, sebbene non fossi del tutto estraneo a queste attività, avendo potuto competere
con le mucche alla grande esposizione di Liverpool. La scuola che avevo frequentato aveva un’azienda agricola e ed una mandria di mucche di pura razza Jersey.
Julie mi presentò a Richard Kirkham dell’allevamento Jhansi, che all’epoca esponeva Afgani. Ci
portò ad un’esposizione e diventammo fanatici. Tramite Richard fummo presentati alla ora defunta
Meriel Hitchens dell’allevamento Ashihna. All’epoca ebbe una cucciolata da top Afgano Ch Oregano
Tarragon of Karnak x Ch Ashihna Charmayana. Meriel e ci consentì di divenire comproprietari della
prima scelta fra i maschi, Ch Ashihna Raoul, che divenne il nostro primo cane da esposizione.
Raoul ebbe una stupefacente carriera, essendo il nostro primo campione. Vinse C.C. e B.O.B al
Crufts nel 1984 e 1985 e si superò con la vittoria dell’Hound Group nel 1985 (giudice Mr Joe Braddon). Fu anche il padre del cane che attualmente detiene il record di vittorie nella razza, il Ch Solomons Seal of Karnak.
Quando Meriel ripetè l’accoppiamento acquistammo la femmina forndatrice del nostro allevamento,
Ashihna Charmaine. Charmaine fu accoppiata due volte con Ch Sharazah night Gambler. Dalla prima cucciolata nacque il primo campione del nostro allevamento, Ch Viscount Grant. 'Gable' ha avuto
una carriera espositiva spettacolare; divenne vincitore di numerosi raggruppamenti e BIS, incluso
quello al Crufts 1987. Ha vinto anche l’altro premio molto prestigioso Dog World Spillers Pup of the
Year 1985. Gable fu presentato per 2 stagioni espositive e mezzo. Fu usato con molta parsimonia
come stallone e produsse due campioni: Ch Kulute Miles Ahead - Top Afgano e B.O.B al Crufts
1994 e Ch Sharazah Shannon. La seconda cucciolata di Charmaine produsse la nostra splendida
Ch Sadé Solace. Solace fu una degli Afgani più giovani a vincere un C.C., essendogli stato assegnato a soli 13 mesi dallo scomparso Harry Jordan.
Solace ha prodotto nella sua prima cucciolata 3 campioni: Ch Sadé Hi-Ranger to Sharazah, Ch Sadé Regina at Ifmaraf e Ch Sadé Sovreign at Sarakhan. Ha prodotto anche Sadé Laeci, vincitrice di
C.C. e di R.C.C. Ranger ha avuto una brillante carriera, vincendo 19 C.C., Top Afgano e B.O.B al
Crufts nel 1995.
La seconda cucciolata di Solace ha prodotto il bel South African Ch. Sadé Lionheart at Kohinoor,
che è stato così importante in Sudafrica come stallone e vincitore di R.C.C.
Sua figlia, Sadé Laeci, ha prodotto due cucciolate. Dal primo accoppiamento con Ch Karaburan Jelly
Roll Morton nacque Ch Sadé Berryk, cui venne assegnato il titolo di Pup of the Year. Dal secondo
accoppiamento con Ch Saxonmill Spitting Image nacque Ch Sadé Force, un altro vincitore di Pup of
the Year.
Avevo sempre desiderato un Irish Wolfhound, probabilmente tanto quanto abbiamo avuto Afgani.
Divenne possibile grazie a Zena Thorn Andrews dell’allevamento Drakesleat , che ci affidò il favoloso Ch Drakesleat Odyn. Prendemmo Drake quando aveva 10 settimane e da quel momento non ne
siamo mai rimasti senza. Drake divenne il nostro primo Wolfhound campione e vinse anche numerosi Hound Group. Più tardi Zena ci diede la femmina fondatrice del nostro allevamento, Ch Drakesleat
Adyr. Adyr ebbe una splendida carriera ed anche essa vinse il titolo di Pup of the Year e divenne
campione in età molto giovane. Adyr ebbe una cucciolata, accoppiata con Ch Ballalyns Himself, da
cui uscì il vincitore di raggruppamento Ch Sadé Rannyk, anche lui vincitore del Pup of the Year.
Da Rannyk nacque la nostra femmina vincitrice di due C.C. Ballalyns Skys the Limit to Sadé, che
venne accoppiata con Ch Caredig Kava of Sadé, producendo splendidi cuccioli, fra cui due campioni
e un vincitore di C.C.. Fummo molto fortunati a comperare Kava dall’allevamento Caredig. Kava era la
prima scelta fra i maschi della cucciolata ed ebbe una carriera spettacolare, vincendo numerosi Hound
Group ed un Best in Show. Da questa cucciolata abbiamo tenuto Porryk e la femmina Jynnx, entrambi
divennero campioni. Jynnx ha coronato la sua carriera vincendo il C.C. al Crufts nel 2009.
Porryk fu accoppiata con Bokra Samosa e ne nacque il prolifico vincitore Ch Bokra Wallace to Sadé, che è
stato anche lui un vincitore di Hound Group e vince il C.C. al Crufts nel 2009, il C.C. al raduno dell’Irish
Wolfhound Club nel 2009 ed il Graham Shield Wolfhound Club nel 2010. Quando Wallace coprì Ch
Seplecur Letitia nacque la nostra stella più recente, Ch Seplecur Berthia to Sadé, che divenne campione a
soli 18 mesi, conquistando il suo titolo al The Irish Wolfhound Championship Show.
Our interest in Afghans began in 1978. Whilst staying with our record producer, Ken Gold, I fell in love with
his two Afghan Hounds and purchased one the very next day! He slept the day away in a London studio
whilst we were recording our big hit record 'Can you feel the force'. He was presented to a sleepy Julie at
02:00 in the morning. We named him 'Oscar' and, at that time, I had no thoughts about shows or showdogs, although I was no stranger to exhibiting having competed with cows at the huge Liverpool Show.
The school I went to had a working farm and a herd of pedigree Jersey cows.
Julie introduced me to Richard Kirkham of Jhansi Kennels who was showing Afghans at the time. He took
us to a show and we were hooked. Through Richard we were introduced to the late Meriel Hitchens of
Ashihna Kennels. They had a litter at the time by the top Afghan Ch Oregano Tarragon of Karnak x Ch
Ashihna Charmayana. Meriel allowed us to own in partnership the pick of the litter dog, Ch Ashihna Raoul,
who became our first show dog.
Raoul had a stunning career becoming our first Champion. He won the C.C. and B.O.B at Crufts in 1984
and 1985 topping this by winning the Hound Group in 1985 (Judge Mr Joe Braddon). He is also the sire of
the current breed record holder Ch Solomons Seal of Karnak.
When Meriel repeated the mating we purchased our foundation bitch Ashihna Charmaine. Charmaine
produced two litters to Ch Sharazah night Gambler. The first litter produced our very first home-bred Ch
Viscount Grant. 'Gable' had a spectacular show career; he became a multi group and BIS winner, including BIS Crufts 1987. He also won the other most prestigious award Dog World Spillers Pup of the Year
1985. Gable was campaigned for 2.5 seasons. He was used very sparingly at stud and produced two
Champions: Ch Kulute Miles Ahead - Top Afghan and B.O.B at Crufts 1994 and Ch Sharazah Shannon.
Charmaine's second litter produced our beautiful Ch Sadé Solace. Solace was one of the youngest Afghan
bitches to win a C.C. being only 13 months at the time off the late Harry Jordan.
Solace produced in her first litter 3 Champions: Ch Sadé Hi-Ranger to Sharazah, Ch Sadé Regina at Ifmaraf and Ch Sadé Sovreign at Sarakhan. She also produced the C.C. and R.C.C winner Sadé Laeci.
Ranger had a great show career winning 19 C.C.s, Top Afghan and B.O.B at Crufts in 1995.
Solace's second litter produced the lovely South African Ch. Sadé Lionheart at Kohinoor, who has been so
important as a stud dog in South Africa and also R.C.C winners.
Her daughter, Sadé Laeci, produced two litters. Her first by Ch Karaburan Jelly Roll Morton producing Ch
Sadé Berryk who qualified for Pup of the Year. Her second litter by Ch Saxonmill Spitting Image produced
our lovely Ch Sadé Force who was another Pup of the Year qualifier.
I have always wanted an Irish Wolfhound probably as long as we have had Afghans. This became possible through Zena Thorn Andrews of the Drakesleat Kennels who entrusted us with the fabulous Ch
Drakesleat Odyn. Drake came to us at 10 weeks old and we have never been without one since. Drake
became our first Wolfhound champion and was also a multi Hound Group winner. Zena then gave us our
foundation bitch Ch Drakesleat Adyr. Adyr had a great career and was a Pup of the Year qualifier as well
as becoming a champion at a very young age. Adyr had one litter to Ch Ballalyns Himself which produced
our group winning Ch Sadé Rannyk who was another Pup of the Year qualifier.
Rannyk produced our dual C.C. winning bitch Ballalyns Skys the Limit to Sadé, who when mated to Ch
Caredig Kava of Sadé, produced a great litter containing two champions and a C.C. winner. We were lucky
enough to purchase Kava from the Caredig Kennels. Kava was pick of the litter from the males and
had a spectacular career, winning multi Hound Groups and a Best in Show. We kept a dog Porryk and
a bitch Jynnx from this litter with both becoming champions. Jynnx crowned her career by winning the
C.C. at Crufts in 2009.
Porryk was mated to Bokra Samosa and produced the prolific winning Ch Bokra Wallace to Sadé who
was another Hound Group winner and winner of the C.C. at Crufts in 2009, the C.C. at Irish Wolfhound Club in 2009 and the Graham Shield Wolfhound Club in 2010. When Wallace mated to Ch
Seplecur Letitia it produced our latest star Ch Seplecur Berthia to Sadé who became a champion at
just 18 months and gained her title at The Irish Wolfhound Championship Show.
MARIE-CHRISTINE DELABELLE (B):
Nel 1978 è arrivato in casa nostra il primo Levriero Afgano, una
femmina che si chiamava Charming Lady El Rachman, ed era
uno splendido cane. Con lei abbiamo partecipato alle nostre
prime esposizioni, ai coursing ed ai racing, otteneva eccellenti
risultati in tutto ciò che faceva. L’anno successive abbiamo preso una femmina nera, Djipsy El Rachman, figlia del famoso Akaba’s blue Ambasador. Nel 1980 una Domino, che si chiamava
Erline du Mocoloc. Sempre nello stesso anno abbiamo preso
Eloah el Rachman, il cui padre era il ben noto Hedon El Karaman. L’ultimo Afgano che abbiamo avuto è stato Yamit von Katwiga.
Abbiamo allevato due cucciolate di Afgano, una con la femmina Domino ed una con Charming
Lady.
Nel 1989 abbiamo iniziato con gli Whippet e lo abbiamo fatto con grande successo. French King du
Manoir de la Grenouillère ha vinto 9 titoli di campionato, Gladys 5 e questo è stata l’inizio della
storia di successo dell’allevamento Di Mahana. IWhippet Di Mahana che sono maggiormente
conosciuti sono: Unabella, Unica, Daydream, Joyce, Goldrush,
Nel 1987 sono divenuta giudice per gli Afgani.
L’11 settembre 1988 ho giudicato la mia prima esposizione con CAC a Mechelen (B), il Sint Romboutscup
Il °1 aprile 1989 ho giudicato la mia prima esposizione internazionale ad Antwerpen (B), il Brabo
Nel 1993 sono diventata giudice di Whippet.
Nel1995 sono diventata giudice di Saluki.
Nel 1996 sono diventata giudice di Irish Wolfhound
Nel 1997 sono diventata giudice di Barzoi e Greyhound.
Nel 1998 sono diventata giudice di Deerhound
Nel 1999 sono diventata giudice di Sloughi
Nel 1999 sono diventata giudice per tutto il 10mo Gruppo FCI.

Ho giudicato dappertutto in Europa, Belgio, Olanda, Francia, Lussemburgo, Germania, Polonia (di
recente l’Euro Sighthound show), Svezia, Norvegia, Finlandia (dove ho un altro invito per il Finnish
Winner & Winner Helsinki nel 2015), Italia (Speciale Levrieri), Inghilterra, Scozia, ecc... Troppi per
ricordarli tutti.
In 1978 came in our house our first Afghan, a bitch called Charming Lady El Rachman, she was a
marvelous dog. With her we visit our first dogshows, coursing and racing everything she did with
excellent results. One year after we took a black bitch, Djipsy El Rachman daughter of the famous
Akaba’s blue Ambasador. In 1980 a Domino, called Erline du Mocoloc. Still in the same year we took
Eloah el Rachman, father was a the well known Hedon El Karaman. The last Afghan we had was Yamit von
Katwiga.
We had two Afghan litters one with the Domino bitch and one with Charming Lady.
In 1989 we started with the Whippets and this with big succes. French King du Manoir de la Grenouillère
had 9 champion titles, Gladys 5 champion and that was the start for our succesfully Di Mahana kennel.

Euro Sighthound show), Sweden, Norway, Finland (I have an other invitation for Finnish Winner & Winner
Helsinki for 2015), Italy (Sighthound Specialty), England, Scotland etc... To many to name them all.
MARIA TERESA FASSIO DURANDO (I)
Sono giudice d’esposizione da ormai 30 anni ed ho allevato per 38, ma
la mia prima esperienza è stata con i Barboni, razza allevata da mia
madre per molti anni. Oggi giudico tutte le 13 razze Levriere, tutti i Podenchi, Pharaon Hound, Cirneco dell’Etna, Shiba, Basenji, Akita e tutti i
Barboni. Sono anche giudice internazionale di coursing e racing. Sono
stata anche designata quale responsabile per coursing e racing dall’Ente
Nazionale Cinofilia Italiana. Sono socia di AIALA, CDL e CPLI. Il mio più
grande sogno è quello di vedere dei levrieri belli, veloci e fieri.
Ho giudicato in molti paesi nel mondo, quali Austria, Belgio, Finlandia,
Francia, Germania, Olanda, Norvegia, Russia, Spagna, Svezia, Svizzera
e Stati Uniti.
I have been a show judge for 30 years and I have bred for 38 years but
my first experiences were with Poodles, because my mother was breeder for many years. Now I judge all Sighthounds (13 breeds), all Podengos, Pharaon Hound, Cirneco dell’Etna, Shiba, Basenji, Akita and all Poodles. I am also international judge of lure coursing and racing. I have
been appointed chairwoman of Italian Kennel Club of racing and coursing. I am member of AIALA, CDL
and CPLI. Greatest dream is to see beautiful, fast and proud sighthounds.
I judged in many countries in the World, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Netherland, Norway,
Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA.
