THE GREAT EXHIBITION: PALLADIO
From 20th September 2008 to 06th January 2009 - Palazzo Barbaran Da Porto, Vicenza
The works exhibited will be about 300 among original drawings, paintings, sculptures, medals, books and manuscripts, coming from more
than fifty European and American museums. In short, there will be:
80 handsigned drawings by Palladio, 70 architectural drawings by great masters, like Michelangelo, Raphael, Donato Bramante, Giuliano
and Antonio da Sangallo, Sansovino, Falconetto, Bartolomeo Ammannati, Inigo Jones, Giacomo Quarenghi, Le Corbusier, 40 paintings,
including works by Bassano, Bramantino, El Greco, Giulio Romano, Titian, Paolo Veronese, Tintoretto, Van Dyck, Canaletto, 30 architectural
models, at least half of which built specially for the exhibition, 80 sculptures and architectural fragments, medals, coins, books and
manuscripts. The exhibition will be structured in a way to illustrate the following three aspects:
1. Life of an architect; 2. The creation of a new architecture; 3. An eternal contemporary

PALLADIAN WOODEN MODELS
From 30th November 2007 to Summer 2008 - Palazzo Barbaran da Porto, Vicenza
Since 1973 the models of Palladian works - manufactured on scale 1:33 - testify the genius of Palladio in the centres of the most
prestigious scientific and exhibiting institutions of the world, with a steady success among the public and critics.
The exhibition of wooden models in Palazzo Barbaran da Porto wants to be a first and due tribute to Palladio and an informative
reference centre for Palladian tourists that will come to Vicenza in the Palladian year.
At the end of the great exhibitions of the 500th anniversary the models and all the material manufactured for the exhibition will be steadily displayed at the noble floor
of Palazzo Barbaran da Porto in a “permanent Palladian exhibition”.

“DA NATURALE INCLINATIONE GUIDATO”: ANDREA PALLADIO’S DRAWINGS
From 30th November 2007 to 3rd February 2008 - Palazzo Chiericati, Vicenza
The Civic Museums of Vicenza display the corpus of Palladio’s drawings, one the most important part of their collections tightly tied up to
the genesis of the institute, in Palazzo Chiericati.
The 33 drawings has been offered to the Municipality of Vicenza in 1839 by the learned man Gaetano Pinali from Verona and form the
most noteworthy part of the Palladian papers of the world, besides the over 300 samples held at the Drawings Collection del Royal
Institute of British Architects (R.I.B.A.) of London.

From 30th November 2007 the project “Virtual Andrea Palladio” is online on the website of the Municipality of Vicenza www.comune.
vicenza.it, of Palladio’s 500th Birthday www.andreapalladio500.it and on the Cultural Internet website of the Ministero dei Beni e delle
Attività Culturali www.internetculturale.it. It is a three-dimensional route that gives the online Internet users the striking opportunity to
walk around the town centre and visit some of the most important architectural works of the great master.

“Travel to Italy”, the musical project that the “Musical weeks at the Teatro Olimpico” have launched for the three-year period 2007/2009,
crosses significantly the celebrations for the 500th Palladio’s birthday. A meeting that occurs in the sign of ancient Rome and of the decisive
influence that the Roman travels and stays played on the cultural and spiritual education of the genial architect, the creator of Teatro
Olimpico.

Guided tours for individuals every Saturday and Sunday.
The guided tours “Palladio by hand” will be back this year, for the third year and after last successful editions that recorded all tickets
sold out, proposing the visit to the town centre and the villas, with a particular attention to the great architect’s works on the occasion
of his 500th birthday.
