Önsöz kitabın yazım planı hakkında size genel bir fikir verirken, üreticilerin detaylı bilgilerini, içinde Türk pazarının da yer aldığı dünya çapında 112.380 adet isim bulunduran www.datalignum.com adlı arama motorumuzdan bulabilirsiniz. Bilgi, resim v.s. toplamak suretiyle, kitabın ilk baskısını hazırlarken yaptığımız araştırma çalışmaları iki sene sürmüştür. Okurlarımızın Türkiye'deki panel, mobilya, ağaç işleme makineleri ve yan ürünleri sanayisinin nasıl bir yapıya sahip olduklarını öğrenmelerinin önemli olduğunu düşünüyoruz. Spurred on by the success of “The Wood-Based, HPL and CPL Panel Industry in Europe, Belarus, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine”, published by our publishing house and now in its fifth edition, and the first edition of the book “The Components, Complements and Hardware Industry for Furniture in Europe and Turkey” we decided to publish this book in order to bridge a serious gap in regard to information about the knowledge of Turkey. The summary will give you an idea of the editorial plan of the book, while all the names of the manufacturers, taken from our Internet search engine www.datalignum.com that today has 112.380 worldwide company names, included the Turkey market. The writing of the first edition of this book involved two years of research work in order to collect information, photos, etc. and we believe that it is important that the reader is aware of the structure of the Turkish panel, furniture, components, woodworking machinery industry and trade. Araştırmamızın, Portekiz’in Atlantik sahilinden Rusya sınırlarına kadar, Avrupa’nın coğrafi haritasıyla ilgilenmesinin sebebi budur. Son senelerde, Batı Avrupa Ülkeleri’nin Ekonomik Birliğe katılması ile birlikte, pozitif bir ekonomik gelişme kayıt ettikleri görülmüştür, hatta birkaçının gayri milli hasılası en yüksek yüzdelere varmıştır. The dominant religion is Islamic. The local currency is the Turkish Lira. Institutional form is a Parliamentary Republic. From the Atlantic coast of Portugal to the Russian board On 2 January, 2007, Bulgaria and Romania became a part of the EEC (European Economic Community) and, today, the EU boasts 27 member states with a population of 567 million inhabitants. This is because our survey focuses on geographical Europe, from the Atlantic coasts of Portugal to the boundaries of Russia. Over the last few years, following the entry of Eastern European countries into the EEC, it has been noted that several of these show a positive economic growth trends, with the highest increase in GDP. 258 Datalignum | 3 In this page, two pictures of the Kastamonu Entegre. TURKISH FORESTRY INDUSTRY The Turkish forestry industry has witnessed substantial growth during the past five years with exports increasing from $181.4 million in 2004 to $530.0 million in 2010. Turkey’s large forest reserves, improvements in technology and a growing construction and furniture sector have helped boost the industry to a new level. Turkey’s main exports in the sector are fibreboard/MDF, particle board, builders’ joinery and carpentry wood, including cellular wood panels, assembled parquet panels, shingles and shakes. Turkey has about 20.7 million hectares of forest area with a total of 584 tree varieties giving the sector significant advantages over competitors. Of the forest area in Turkey, about half of the forests are productive for business. In the past three years, an annual average of 11 million m3 of industrial wood and 12 million m3 of firewood have been produced. Industrial wood production is mainly directed to the manufacturing of logs, wood-based panels, pulpwood and other wood industries. The Turkish forestry industry has over 28,000 companies manufacturing various products with workshops and industrial-scale manufacturing units each playing an important role. The production of timber and timber products is highly fragmented among a large number of small workshops with large-scale producers producing standard items oriented toward exporting. HPL+CPL 60 milyon metrekaredir. THE PANEL INDUSTRY Turkey is just a good as more advanced countries and is projected towards a future of continuous expansion, also thanks to the considerable will of the Turks to improve themselves constantly. The most surprising element of Turkish economy is that, in spite of its high inflation rate, there is a continuous race for investments and consumption of the various goods available on the market. The panel industry in Turkey is fairly young, in fact, the first plants installed date back to the fifties. Over the years, production development has resulted in an increase in the number of panel manufacturers, especially in the chipboards and MDF sector. A sequence of negative market trends resulted in the closure of some of the smaller industries which did not have a means to invest. The standard most commonly used in Turkey is 183x366 cm. The first industry to produce MDF in Turkey was Camsan, with the start-up of the Ordu factory in July 1984. Today the production capacity for all the industries per year, are: chipboard 3.9 million m3 - MDF 4.1 million m3. Plywood 98.000 m3. HPL+CPL 60 million sqm. The most important industries are: • Kastamonu Entegre (see the report in the first part of the book) was founded in 1969 in Istanbul and the first plant to produce chipboard panels was installed in the city of Kastamonu, after which the company is named. Since then, thanks to the considerable investments, the industry has continued to develop its productive capacity and is business. • Yildiz Entegre, over the last few years the company has grown considerably. This is particularly surprising in view of the fact that it only began producing panels in November 2001. The other company with the Yildiz name (Yildiz Sunta and Yildiz MDF) and Starwood haven’t not the same owner, but are a family company of the cousins. Yildiz Entegre is among the largest companies in both national and global scale in each field where it is active. • Teverpan. 1997 senesinde aile şirketi ikiye ayrılmıştır. Tever üretime devam ederken, Teverpan üretimini Çerkezköy'de kurduğu fabrikaya taşımıştır. Şirketin en çok kapı panelleri üretmektedir. Yildiz Entegre, having the longest MDF press in the world, is also the largest MDF manufacturer of our country with the capacity of 3,400 m³/day. Yildiz Entegre, about to take place among the first 50 companies in the list of first 500 Larger Industrial Corporations, listed by Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, became 44th in the first 500 corporations of 2010. Yildiz Entegre, employing total 1.600 persons, is on the way to full integration fitting its commercial title. In February 2012 the Group acquired the chipboard and MFC producer Masstas Sunta in Mudurumerk/Bolu. • Teverpan. In 1987, the family split the business into two groups. Tever continued the production activity and the Teverpan industry was thus created with the Cerzekoy based factory. The last production start-up was the production-line for door-skin panel. In this page, a picture of Armanda Classic. THE FURNITURE INDUSTRY Over the past ten years, Turkey has significantly developed the productive structure of the furniture industry with support operation of the Government and the Ministry of Economy, Mr. Zafer Caglayan. Below we publish an original text written by the General Directorate of Export in Ankara. Furniture production in Turkey dates back to the 19th century and was done in small workshops as artisan production. However, by the rapid globalization and all other aspects, present furniture industry is becoming a fashion sector. In Turkey, furniture is produced both in workshops and industrial-scale manufacturing units. Furniture production is highly fragmented among a large number of small workshops. These small workshops play an important role in producing hand carved and handmade furniture. Workshops are flexible establishments in nature and have enough capacity and labor force to expand their production line in order to supply large orders. In this page, two pictures of Papatya. A.Ş., Major SKT Oto Donanım San. ve Tic. A.Ş. ve Teknik Malzeme Tic. ve San A.Ş. Siteler'e kayıtlı küçüklü büyüklü mobilya üreticilerinin sayısı 10,000’i geçmektedir. Large-scale furniture firms produce standard models by using automated mass-production techniques and most of their production is oriented towards export. In accordance to data from Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), in 2009 furniture production was realized as 6.4 billion Turkish Liras. According to the recent General Census of Industry and Business Establishments (2008), the furniture sector employs 150,427 people and the industry has 34,438 companies manufacturing various furniture. Moreover, capacity data of The Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) reports 40 companies who have over 250 employees and 155 companies who have over 100 employees. Besides, Istanbul Chamber of Industry’s list of the top 500 industrial establishments of Turkey includes six furniture companies. According to the list, these six companies are; Boytaş Mobilya San. ve Tic. A.Ş, Merkez Çelik San. ve Tic. A.Ş, Merinos Halı Sanayi ve Tic. A.Ş, İstikbal Mobilya San. ve Tic. A.Ş, Major SKT Oto Donanım San. ve Tic. A.Ş. and Teknik Malzeme Tic. ve San. A.Ş. Furniture production in Turkey is concentrated mainly in İstanbul, Ankara, Bursa (İnegöl), Kayseri, İzmir and Adana. The most important furniture production districts are İstanbul and the region of Bolu-Düzce, which is famous for its production of wood products. The well-known furniture-manufacturing district in Turkey, called “Siteler”, is located in Ankara. The number of registered small and medium sized enterprises in “Siteler” is over 10,000. In Ankara, there are many labor–intensive small enterprises manufacturing classicalhandmade furniture and there are about 10 major furniture manufacturers who have mass-production capabilities. 258 Datalignum | 9 Below, a picture of Ndesgn. Above, a picture of Arkopa. The wood industry is developing rapidly in the Bursa-İnegöl area, the third most important furniture production region, which is surrounded by forest areas. The furniture industry of the İnegöl area is small sized but has great potential to improve itself. Another important furniture region is Kayseri, which has large capacity for the production of sofa beds, couch beds and seven of the twenty two largest manufacturers of Turkey are established here. İzmir also has a furniture production districts called “Karabağlar and Kısıkköy” which supply furniture to the Aegean Region. A This section will include a table of the furniture industry companies and a map showing the 440 companies (surveyed by us on www.datalignum.com). In the addresses the legend O.S.B is often included, in Turkish this is an abbreviation of Organize Sanayi Bolgesi (Industrial Estate Organized). After the foundation of the Turkish Republic in 1923 by the wishes of Mustafà Kemal Ataturk, and the relative reforms in all the social and economic activities, the O.S.Bs spread throughout Turkey, producing all types of goods. In our sector, concerning that is the furniture industry, the industrial zone with the highest density of companies is in the Asian sector of Inegol and the surrounding area. In this page, chairs of Genc Sandalye and a picture of Boydak. As statistics recorded by the Turkish State reveal, there are thousands and thousands of carpenters and small companies consisting of 1 to 3 workers, whereas the larger industries with structures worthy of the name are very few. Our research only concerns the industrial companies, by which we mean production companies with more than ten workers. As is known, Turkey is composed of two parts: the European part and the Asian part. The latter is home to many more industrial furniture companies than the former, they are mainly concentrated along the stretch of the E90 road from Bursa (which has 25 companies) to Inegol (with 127 companies) up to Eskisehir. Crossing the Bosphorus and heading east takes you, after 50km, to the Dudullu-Umraniye area with 48 companies. In Ankara and the surrounding area in Siteler, Altindag and Akyurt there are about 54 companies. Another area with a high concentration of companies is Kayseri where we found 46 companies. In the central-south area of Turkey, Adana, Yuregir and Yakapinar, there are 7 companies. In the European part there are 56 furniture companies; these are mainly concentrated in Ikitelli e Kagithane, but most of the companies are spread over the whole eastern European part. It is important not to forget the great strength of the many small enterprises and the traders, representatives, and distributors of the most varied materials (wood, panels, components, ironmongery, paints, glues, PVC sheets, decorative paper, machinery, utensils, etc.). The O.S.B. zone of Ikitelli (in the European part) is an exemplary place because the commercial companies and their shops live and exist and trade alongside each other in harmony. FURNITURE PRODUCTION In Turkey, furniture production can be classified in accordance with materials used as wooden furniture (massive and veneered), metal furniture and others. Wooden furniture has a major share in total furniture production. As it is known for good quality furniture, the types of wood used and plywood inputs have to be taken into consideration. 258 Datalignum | 11 Above, a picture of Erdogan Turgut. Below, a picture of Macitler Mobilya. The main types of wood used in the manufacture of massive furniture in Turkey are ash, beech, oak, pine, linden and mahogany. In veneered furniture, oak, beech, walnut and mahogany are used. Turkish furniture factories use the latest technologies in producing furniture, which is always up to world standards. Since 1990 the application of advanced technology and the use of CNC benches in the Turkish furniture industry have been increasing. Today, all of the large enterprises in the furniture sector use CNC benches. Most companies are equipped with modern machinery which allows the production of good, export-quality products. Quality control starts from the stage when the raw material is produced and continues till the end of the packaging process. Most of the companies have already obtained ISO 9000 certificates and other required quality certificates. The large scale firms comply with world standards in their packaging processes. In packaging PE, PP, foam, polyurethane and cardboard boxes are used. Many of the large companies have special packaging sections. As with many other consumer products, furniture production is sensitive to changes in fashion. Since furniture design is an important aspect of marketing, Turkish designers are constantly following consumer preferences in foreign markets and introduce new designs and make model variations and improvements. Turkish furniture manufacturers and exporters are aware of the fact that market trends and consumer behavior play an important role in the development and design of new products. Since Turkey has a strong textile industry, Turkish furniture manufacturers have the advantage of being able to use and to monitor a wide range of color ful new fabric collections as upholstery. Konuyla ilgili en önemli isimleri şöyle sıralayabiliriz: Art Makina - AS Metal - Baylar Baran - Fabromak - Gim Export - Hanex - Kadromak - Ligno Makine - Makel Makina - Tork Makine. MACHINERY, TECHONOLIGIES AND TOOLS The field of wood-working machinery in Turkey is young and normally they produce machines for the primary processing of wood. A census of manufacturers does not exist and it is estimated hat, including small producers, firms are no more than 200. Mention the names of some of the most important producers. Turan machine manufactured principally the horizontal circular saw with wheels and band emery machines with perpendicular drillers followed this. Turan machine put ten thousands of machine into use for Turkish wooden industry within in a so short time. It became as a strong establishment which grew rapidly and marked its name to the Turkish Industry at the beginning of ninety seventies. Turanlar machine`s opening its doors to abroad was realized, studies were carried out at several countries of high technology especially in Europe. Cemilusta, the firm was founded by Mr. Cemil Kiziltas (Cemilusta) whose name has become the trade name of the firm, as a modest workshop. At the beginning Cemil Usta had established his firm to provide spare parts and to repair faulty parts of the machines which were imported at that time and to secure steady operations of the same machinery. But the ever increasing requirements and demans since those years have forced the firm to produce these machines within the scale allowed by the resources. Production of Saw-Sharpening Machine was realised in 1945. Band Resawing Machine in 1949 and Vertical Log Band Saw in 1955. Cemilusta has continued his personel endeavors until the year 1960 and after that date has continued business with his two sons Yurdaer Kiziltas and O. EPF (European Panel Federation) ANNUAL ASSEMBLY 2015 IN VIENNA Clive Pinnington, EPF’s Managing Director. Photo Datalignum. Modulo E1 (Garanzia Qualità Prodotti) - Tutti i partecipanti all’assemblea si impegnano a fare in modo che il Modulo E1 The European Panel Federation, representing the European manufacturers of particleboard, MDF, OSB, plywood, hardboard and softboard, held its Annual General Meeting in Vienna, Austria on 25th & 26th June 2015. In his opening address, Mr Ladislaus Döry welcomed everyone to his home city of Vienna, and proudly informed the participants that Dr Paolo Fantoni had accepted to become the new Chairman of EPF and Mr Martin Brettenthaler the new ViceChairman. The General Assembly warmly greeted these appointments. Mr Pinnington, Dr Fantoni, Mr Döry and Mr Brettenthaler. The following day, Dr Fantoni gave extensive thanks to Mr Döry and complimented him on the many wonderful achievements during his tenure, confirming that he will retain the title of EPF Honorary President. In his address to the General Assembly, Dr Fantoni presented 5 goals and commitments which he considers to be the strategic cornerstones of his Chairmanship: 1. E1 – All members commit to help make at least E1 quality compulsory in Europe for production, distribution and import for all wood-based panels (particleboard, MDF, OSB, fibreboards, and plywood). On a pan-European basis, the EPF Internal Agreement dated February 2008 that commits particleboard, MDF and OSB members to manufacture boards of at least E1 quality remains valid. 2. New Standards – Any new standard should require the raw panel to meet the required emission level, irrespective of whether or not a surface or cover will be, or has been applied. In other words, the emission level should be at least the same “in” the board, as is defined by the standard (“outside”). 3. Image - We must strive to improve the image of our industry. We no longer wish to be seen as a “consumer of resources”. Instead we want public opinion to recognise our industry’s valuable contribution to recyclability, carbon storage, and low energy consumption, all on a sustainable basis. 4. Building Industry - The wood based panels industry is, and has been, too reliant on furniture for sales. In future we must actively engage, and work more towards the building industry, at every level, to ensure a bright future for our members in this field. 5. Africa - This continent offers great promise. New commercial and technical standards will be drawn up for Africa in the coming years. Currently there is a three way tussle for influence between Europe, North America and Asia. We must engage and be sure that Europe becomes the point of reference for this important potential market. Mr Brettenthaler thanked members for their confidence in him and looked forward to actively supporting these core activities of the wood-based panels industry that now includes his sector of fibreboards. In his speech, Mr Clive Pinnington, EPF’s new Managing Director, stressed the intention of EPF to grow its activities in terms of the Federation’s future being market growth, public image and positioning in the climate change, energy and economic debate. EPF remains committed to industrial competitiveness on a fair playing field, increased use of wood in daily life, and development of rural areas via reforestation. EPF’s lobbying activities will focus on these concepts, making the European Commission aware of the importance of our industry that assures jobs for 100,000 people in 5,000 companies with an annual turnover of €22 billion. More than anything else, Mr Pinnington urged the General Assembly to help EPF to move ahead of future legislation to shape and drive it, rather than chase behind it. Addressing the Open Part of the General Assembly on Friday 26th www.europeanpanels.eu su cambiamento climatico, consumo energetico e situazione economica. June, Mr Pinnington reported that for the first time in several years, the most important economic developments are rather positive for the European whole wood-based panel sector. Indeed, the European particleboard production in the EPF member countries increased by 2.5% in 2014 and exceeded the projection made last year. The expectations for this year are largely stable and the rise in production in the EU-EFTA area as a whole is estimated at +0.5% for 2015. This should result in a particleboard production slightly above 29 million m3. In 2014, MDF production in Europe grew further by 1% to 11.5 million m3, with consumption up by 4%. OSB production increased by 3% in 2014, to 4.8 million m3, with capacity set to develop by 8% in 2015. Hardboard production decreased slightly by 1% compared to 2013, down to 580.000 m3. For the third year in a row, the European production of soft-board increased to 3.3 million m3. The general economic situation in Europe is showing slow but steady improvement. The wood-based panels sector continues to face significant challenges such as the limited availability of wood and also some recent EU developments which are not supportive of the industry’s recovery. However, consumers’ confidence and other indicators continue their positive development. Overall, and with the exception of hardboard, markets for all types of panels are growing and expectations for the near term are cautiously optimistic. 258 Datalignum | 27 Fantoni’s www.fantoni.it COMMITMENT TO ECONOMIC RECOVERY Osoppo, 31 Luglio 2015 / 30 Agosto 2015. • Elevata resistenza a trazione. • Elevata resistenza a flessione. 36 | Datalignum 258 There are shaped surfaces with relatively flat, radiused curves like the mirror on a carved wood cabinet, but there are also more prominent edges, with closed corners, which require considerable skilled labour for finishing. Carrying out this type of finishing automatically, without the need for manual labour other than in the most difficult of cases, is no easy task, as a result of discolouring on the more prominent edges or insufficient smoothing. An outstanding solution to this problem is the new Quickwood PRO 1400 + QRC, which thanks to the rotational movement of the two heads, is able to wrap right around any type of panel profiles using a combination of two types of brushes: • Quickwood QN + QD for in-depth brushing of detail • Quickwood Quick Flex for maximum smoothing power The combination of clockwise and anti-clockwise rotational movement performed by the dual action of the brushes offers entirely satisfactory finishes. Wardrobe and kitchen cabinet doors, room doors, windows and all kinds of shaped solid, veneered or MDF wood imaginable can thus be finished automatically, without the need for operator intervention other than to check the result and take any minimum corrective action that may be required. 38 | Datalignum 258 Three Weinig engineers are among the illustrious group of winners of the 2015 Schweighofer Prize. Richard Rister, Erhard Jung and Georg Reis received the prestigious award for the innovative “butt-joint block gluing” technology in front of 700 invited guests in Vienna. The Schweighofer Prize, awarded by the Austrian Schweighofer wood industry family since 2003 recognizes ideas, technologies, products and services across the entire value chain in the wood sector every two years. The objective is to improve the competitiveness of the European forestry and wood industry sectors. For the trio of Weinig engineers, winning the innovation prize was a reward for almost five years of development work. Their “butt-joint block gluing” provides a cost-effective production process to counteract the dwindling margins in the sawmill industry. At the heart of the project is expanding the potential for value creation The jury was particularly impressed by the fact that the production method can incorporate all available qualities into the finishing process. In his laudatory speech, Dr. Josef Rettenmeier, former CEO of Rettenmeier Holding AG, highlighted the high wood recovery, which can be optimized further via appropriate measures at the cutting stage. The outstanding efficiency of the new technology is attributable to specific processes in planing, cross-cutting, gluing, joining and automation. Originally developed for producing central layers, the technology is extremely versatile in its application. The glued block is just an intermediate product for a range of other end products that can be manufactured on the same system by splitting as required. In their acceptance speech, the three winners said that they were convinced the innovation will open up new production potential for numerous companies in the wood industry worldwide. They also recognized the great importance of exchanging production experience as well as engineering and design know-how during development. The trio added that only comprehensive co-operation will lead to success going forward and sincerely thanked their supporters at Weinig. Weinig CEO Wolfgang Pöschl believes that winning the Schweighofer Prize is a testament to the high standard of innovation within the company. “The pioneering spirit has always been one of the qualities that makes Weinig great. The award demonstrates the high standard of Weinig's development work.” 258 Datalignum | 39 GreCon Fiberview TAKING SAMPLES FROM THE MAT BELONGS TO THE PAST GreCon FIBERVIEW consente una valutazione economica e obiettiva della qualità della fibra nel processo in esecuzione. 40 | Datalignum 258 GreCon FIBERVIEW allows an economical and objective assessment of the fibre quality in the running process. The measured values supplied by FIBERVIEW enable the operator of the refiner to produce a consistent fibre quality. Using the patent pending FIBERVIEW, the cooking and refining processes can be precisely adjusted and the consumption of energy and the fibre quality thus be optimised. A saving potential of up to 10 kW/h per ton of wood that is refined can be calculated. Being able to manipulate the fibre sizes in a determined and reliable way, the manufacturers of MDF panels are now able to produce specific fibre qualities. Internal standards can be established. Even customer requirements can be specified in such a way that an allowed number of shives per class per m² can be determined. Especially in the case of complaints, concrete data is available whether the fibre quality was sufficient or not. Such a degree of objectiveness has been unparalleled so far. The next step is the regulation of the refiner via an automatic control loop. Thus, reaction times are reduced, and further cost saving potentials can be realised thanks to faster adjustment. FIBERVIEW is based on an imaging method. The surface of the passing fibre mat is continuously inspected by a line-scan camera with vertical illumination over a width of about 400 mm. The basic construction of the measuring system is a solid frame construction. The visual field of the camera is protected from dirt and dust by a closed tube. The system is equipped with an automatic height adjustment so that camera and illumination unit automatically adjust to changes in the mat height depending on the mat moisture and, of course, upon product changes. Thus, it is ensured that the surface to be inspected always lies in the focus of the camera and that clear pictures are taken. Furthermore, the illumination of the system is automatically regulated to compensate influences by colour from different cooking conditions or wood types. FIBERVIEW is already in operation at three major European wood based panel manufacturers. greCon in sintesi GreCon in brief Fagus-GreCon Greten GmbH & Co. A FIRM "GRIP" ON WINDOW PRODUCTION. 42 | Datalignum 258 A versatile machine with more options and more power for window production. The new power Profiler processing centers are impressive across the entire range: the machines in this completely revised series each demonstrate high performance in a small space and provide an opportunity for processing all components efficiently in one machine. Additional options for profile design and an extended performance range make the machines in the new BMB 800/900 series the first choice for efficient and future-proof window production. A firm “grip” on everything: progress thanks to clamping technology The new gripping and clamping technology opens up new opportunities in profile design. It is now possible to clamp and re-clamp the components freely in the collect chucks in all three directions. The clamps can be adjusted relative to one another and, if necessary (e.g. olive drill holes) be swiveled away. Free clamping in terms of height opens up completely new opportunities: when being re-clamped, components can also be clamped in the rabbet — this enables a complete, free, six-sided processing for narrow profiles, such as the current integral profiles. Up to 50 window units per shift in a small space The basic concept is based on a solid gantry bridge, the beam table with one or two independently movable rows of clamps (depending on the performance requirement), and the gripping unit for loading, clamping, and removing the components. www.homag.com Sistema di stoccaggio degli utensili ToolTower: più veloce, più grande e migliore Elevata capacità, tempi di sostituzione dell'utensile inferiori, spazio per utensili grandi e pesanti. The trimming spindles, processing units, tool change systems, and tables can be configured individually, allowing the machine to accommodate four parts simultaneously and for processing to be performed in parallel at both tables. At one and the same time, processing can be taking place at one of the tables while components are being clamped, loaded, or removed at the other table. The result: a significant increase in performance compared to solutions previously available on the market, as well as consistent scalability of performance from 15 to 50 window units per shift - and all that in a compact installation area with loading and removal in one place. ToolTower tool storage system: faster, bigger, better High capacity, short tool change times, accommodation of large and heavy tools: many tool systems meet only one of these important criteria for window construction. In contrast, the new ToolTower tool memory meets all of these demands. Generous distances between chucks enable the memory to be loaded without any gaps, even for large tools with double-record length. Up to four plates positioned above one another ensure full capacity to tool slots. The swivel arm ensures short non-productive times and a fast tool change: the new tool is prepared during processing and is in a waiting position so that only a short swiveling movement is necessary for the tool change. From XS to XXXL More than "just" windows: with part lengths of up to 4200 mm in the standard sequence and up to 6000 mm with single feed, part thicknesses up to 180 mm and widths up to 230 mm, the powerProfiler covers much more than just the standard range. It can also be used for complete processing of construction elements for conservatories and facades to CNC precision. Delicate staves can also be produced easily thanks to a minimum part dimension of 170/20/20 mm in automatic mode. Everything in one machine One machine, one data connection to the work preparation software, one tool set: the dockable console table makes the power Profiler a valuable surface processing center with all options, allowing complete processing of curved parts, round windows, and supplementary elements which would otherwise need to be processed on other machines. Hansen & Hundeboel - inventors of the Fladder finishing system. The firm of Hansen & Hundeboel was established in the beginning of the 1970's as a development centre and was the name under which the Fladder sanding system was originally introduced. The idea behind the company was to develop solutions for manufacturers with a need to automate or rationalize production processes for which no machines were currently available. As a development centre, Hansen & Hundeboel has created a multitude of industrial machines and automatic custom solutions for many different trades. At the end of the 1970’s, contacts were made to leading furniture manufacturers in need of a more efficient preferably automatic method for sealer sanding of furniture fronts. This became the start of the Fladder sanding system. Deburring and sanding by Fladder is based on our own unique technology which results in uniform deburring of the work-piece regardless of shape, complexity or the location of burrs. The core of the technology is our solid gear head with shafts on which flexible Fladder abrasive cylinders are mounted. Workpieces are deburred or sanded from all angles within the four parameters which are normally syncronised in pairs. If the RPM of the abrasive tools or the feed speed of work-pieces is altered, the other parameters change automatically Each function may also be 100 % manually operated. Finnish Woodworking industries are aiming at a leap in the quality of construction. Building with wood needs fair rules. This should be achieved with construction codes that are progressive in international comparisons and an exemplary quality of construction. The sawmilling and plywood industries in Finland depend largely on exports. Of the products, 70 percent are used in construction. Yet an increase in the market share in Finland, especially in urban construction, would also promote exports. If no wooden high-rise blocks of flats, bridges, office buildings, schools or day care centres are constructed in Finland itself, it will also be difficult to sell the know-how abroad. The main obstacle to compe- www.finnfacts.fi Matti Mikkola, Managing Director of the Finnish Woodworking Industries Federation. titive exports are the codes enacted and interpreted by the authorities. ”Although the construction industry works under the rules of market economy, official codes should not distort the competition between different construction materials,” says Mr.Matti Mikkola, Managing Director of the Finnish Woodworking Industries Federation. According to him, the codes create extra expenses for the use of wood in construction, which prevents the use of wood on a larger scale when constructing large buildings. ”In principle, the same codes are in force in the whole of Finland, but the cost of using wood in construction is increased by the fact that different authorities on the regional and municipal levels interpret the codes in different ways,” says Mikkola. As to the European Union, even the codes vary. “There are 27 member states in the EU, but there is much more variation than this would imply, because in some countries they also vary between regions,” says Mikkola. 46 | Datalignum 258 The Schweighofer Prize (see www.schweighofer-prize.org ) is donated by the Austrian Schweighofer family, who has been engaged in the European woodworking industry for generations. Since 2003 the award is presented every second year, and is endowed with a total prize money of € 300,000. The Schweighofer Prize awards innovative ideas, technologies, products and services in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the European Forest Based Sector. All natural persons or groups of individuals as well as organisations are eligible to participate. The applicants have to fulfil all conditions in form and content. The most important requirement is the obvious benefit for the European Forest Based Sector. The Main Prize awards people who have shown outstanding performance for the European Forest Based Sector over an extended period of time. The Main Prize is endowed with € 100,000. - The candidates have to be proposed by any third party. Innovations prizes are granted for promising innovative projects, which still may be in stage of implementation. The total prize money is € 200,000 that is mostly shared between three to six prize winners. - The projects have to show obvious and verifiable innovation compared to the current state-of-the-art - A realistic and structured implementation concept has to be presented. - The applied innovation has to be appropriate for a European wide (industrial) implementation. - The submissions have to be prepared by the candidates themselves. The sap content is limited as the trees do grow very slowly in the cold climate there: • thicknesses from 0,6 mm to 1,65 mm (your choice, also in between). • length: 100 % 2515 mm. • widths: whole piece sheets 1250 mm wide but also clippings of 5'' to 48'' allowed (13 cm to 122 cm). • quality: Log run, all what will be produced form the log, excluding waste during the production. The white/cream sheets are the sap portion, used to show the colour contrast. For the final utilization, we can imagine you to need: • to clip the sheets to your final width desired (you can aim for a very high percentage of very wide widths which are very difficult to obtain from solid lumber). Also you can splice the 13 cm to 122 cm to make whole sheets, before clipping. • face glue 3 sheets making 5 mm or 4 mm Walnut flooring (3x1,65 = 4,95 mm; or 3 x 1,5 = 4,5 mm) using the best grade as face veneer. And the lower grades in the middle and bottom. A 20 foot container loads about 10 m3. A 40 container 25 m3.
