Le web series affermano giorno dopo giorno la loro egemonia sull’ormai oltrepassata
televisione. I web-addicted si dimostrano
fedelissimi alle serie trasmesse esclusivamente via Internet, spinti dall’ampia offerta
e dalle novità proposte. Grazie alla piattaforma digitale numerosi film-maker hanno
la possibilità di promuovere e realizzare le
loro pellicole a costi irrisori raggiungendo
notevoli fasce di pubblico. Non solo gli ar-
tisti emergenti fanno uso del web come biglietto da visita,
diverse case di produzione televisive già affermate all’interno del panorama mediatico stanno sfruttando la vetrina
multimediale realizzando dei format appositamente per il
web. Tra i primi esperimenti di web series italiani è d’obbligo citare 3Cousins, serie prodotta e diretta dalla Dark
Vigo Productions di Greta Paola Gallone. Articolata in sei
episodi di cinque minuti ciascuno, la serie – interamente in
lingua inglese – racconta le bizzarre vite di tre cugini molto
particolari. Il divertimento è assicurato.

hanno dimostrato come il raggio d’azione del browser si stia
man mano ampliando a discapito dei suoi rivali. Dopo diciassette anni di dominio indiscusso, Internet Explorer non detiene
più il primato mondiale, favorito soprattutto dalla sua presenza
predefinita sui pc aziendali. è infatti dimostrato come il browser
di Google sia utilizzato maggiormente al di fuori degli ambienti istituzionali e, anzi, si ritiene che
la sua impennata sia dovuta

e Seychelles sono un arcipelago formato da 115 isole,
granitiche e coralline, che offrono un caleidoscopio

Sono situate nelle azzurre e calde acque dell’Oceano Indiano e si trovano fuori dalla cintura ciclonica, in una
zona priva di malattie infettive.
Situate a metà strada fra Oriente e Occidente, le Seychelles
sono facilmente raggiungibili da ogni angolo del mondo.
Blue Panorama Ailirnes, che è stata scelta dalle autorità del
turismo e dell’aviazione delle Seychelles per colmare il vuoto del collegamento diretto a seguito dell’annuncio di Air
Seychelles dopo la chiusura dei voli verso l’Italia e l’Unione
Europea, opera l’unico collegamento diretto dall’Italia per le

Located halfway between East and West, Seychelles’ are easily
reachable from any world corner.

following the Air Seychelles announcement after the closure of
flights to Italy and the European Union. It is the only direct link

Islands are known for the beautiful beaches, among the most
beautiful in the world, and for excellent opportunities like diving,
sailing, fishing, golf and touring holidays or relaxing yourself in
one of the many SPAs.
Seychelles’ enviable climate is always warm and without extremes. In this tropical paradise the temperature seldom drops
below 24°C or rises above 32°C. All but the remotest southern islands lie comfortably outside the cyclone belt making Seychelles’
a year round destination for sun worshippers and beach lovers.

dell’arcipelago.
Come molte delle isole delle
Seychelles, nel periodo in cui
l’industria del cocco era florida, Denis aveva una prosperosa piantagione di palme e una
popolazione di 70-100 persone
impegnata ad estrarre guano, a
produrre copra (polpa della noce di cocco essiccata) e a pescare.
Nel 1975 l’isola venne acquistata dal Sig. Pierre Burkhardt, un magnate francese della carta che costruì un Lodge di successo lanciato con lo slogan L’Isola ai confini del Mondo. L’isola venne poi
venduta nella metà degli anni ’90 alla Mason’s travel, uno dei primi
ricettivi locali.
I 350 acri di Denis sono la dimora di una vegetazione varia e di una
comunità di uccelli sia marini che di terra, incluse fregate, fetonti
dalla coda bianca, chiurli, tortore, piccioni, cardinali e storni tristi.
Denis, data la sua vicinanza al bordo della piattaforma oceanica
delle Seychelles, è la gioia dei pescatori d’altura perché permette
loro di catturare marlin, sailfish, barracuda, wahoo, dorado ed elettrizza i pescatori sia principianti che esperti.
Denis offre anche delle eccellenti passeggiate nella natura, tennis,
immersioni, windsurf, canoa e l’ intramontabile dolce far niente,
prendendo il sole sulla sabbia calda, poco lontano dai 25 chalet del

Storia
Nonostante fossero già conosciute dal 1500 da navigatori arabi e portoghesi, le Seychelles sono un paese
relativamente giovane le cui origini risalgono al 1700
con l’arrivo dei primi coloni Francesi a capo di un piccolo gruppo di Europei, Indiani e Africani. Le isole
rimasero dominio Francese fino alla disfatta di Napoleone, quando vennero cedute all’Inghilterra. Durante
quel periodo le isole conobbero la politica illuminata
di amministratori eccezionali quali Pierre Poivre, il
brillante attivismo politico del governatore Queau de
Quinssy e le terribili ripercussioni della Rivoluzione
Francese. Fu durante quegli anni che nacquero grandi
tenute agricole, piantagioni di cocco, cotone e canna
da zucchero. Sempre in quegli anni le Seychelles videro la città di Victoria diventare capitale, l’esilio di
diversi e pittoreschi agitatori politici dell’impero e le
ripercussioni economiche dell’abolizione della schiavitù. Nel 1976 le Seychelles ottennero l’indipendenza
dal Regno Unito e divennero una repubblica all’interno del Commonwealth.
DENIS ISLAND,
Delightful idleness island
Denis lies 95km north of Victoria, Mahé and 45km from Bird Island,
making it one of the most northerly of all the Seychelles’ islands.
Like many Seychelles islands, in the heyday of the coconut industry
Denis was a coconut plantation, whose population of between 70
and 100 persons were engaged in collecting guano (decomposed
bird droppings), producing coprah (refined coconut flesh) and fishing. In 1975 the island was purchased by Pierre Burkhardt, a French
paper magnate who ran the island as a successful lodge with the
marketing slogan The island at the edge of the world. The island
was sold to Mason’s Travel, one of Seychelles’ first local ground
handling operators, in the mid ‘90s. Denis’ 350 acres is home to a
varied vegetation and populations of sea and land birds including
frigates, white-tailed tropic birds, whimbrels, doves, wood pigeons, cardinals and mynahs. For fishermen it is ideally situated for
deep-sea fishing expeditions on the nearby edge of the Seychelles’
bank where marlin, sailfish, barracuda, wahoo, dorado and tuna will
thrill novice and seasoned fisherman alike. Denis offers excellent
nature walks as well as the facilities of tennis, diving, windsurfing,
canoeing and of course the delightful idleness, sunbathing on the
warm sand, not far from the 25 chalet of 5-star lodge offering seclusion in comfort and with excellent gourmet cuisine.

History
Although they were already known since 1500 by
Portuguese sailors and Arabic, the Seychelles’ are a
relatively young country, whose origins date back to
1700 with the arrival of the first French settlers, leading
a small group of Europeans, Indians and Africans. The
islands remained in French hands until the defeat of
Napoleon, when they were ceded to Britain. During this
period Seychelles came to know the enlightened policies
of administrators such as Pierre Poivre, the brilliant
politicking of Governor Queau de Quinssy and, of course,
the terrible repercussions of the French Revolution and it
was during that time that appeared the wide agricultural

Flora e Fauna
Le Seychelles sono un museo di storia
naturale vivente ed un santuario per
alcune delle specie più rare al mondo.
Consapevoli della ricchezza naturale
del loro territorio, le isole hanno optato
per una politica ambientalista ad ampio
raggio. In nessun altro luogo al mondo si trovano specie endemiche uniche
quali il coco-de-mer, il seme più grande del mondo, l’albero medusa, l’uccello
“Vedova” e l’usignolo delle Seychelles.
Le Seychelles vantano due siti dichiarati patrimonio mondiale dell’UNESCO:
Aldabra, l’atollo di corallo più grande
del mondo e la Vallée de Mai, foresta
antichissima a lungo creduta il Giardino dell’Eden. Dalla rana più piccola
della terra alla tartaruga gigante più
pesante del mondo, all’unico uccello
dell’Oceano Indiano incapace di volare:
le Seychelles nascondono un’impressionante gamma di specie endemiche in un
ambiente naturale di bellezza ineguagliata.
Cultura
La cosmopolita popolazione Seychellese è un vivace insieme di razze, culture
e credi. In periodi diversi della storia
africani, europei e asiatici sono arrivati
alle Seychelles portando con sè tradizioni e costumi che hanno contribuito
allo stile di vita locale e arricchendo
l’esuberante cultura Seychellese. Tali
influssi possono essere chiaramente
individuati osservando l’arte, la cucina, la musica, la danza e l’architettura
locali. L’architettura tipica risente delle
influenze coloniali inglesi e francesi. La
musica e la danza Creole risalgono dalle
culture Africane, Malgasce ed Europee.
Vivaci e ritmate, molte delle danze sono
accompagnate da tamburi, ma anche
da strumenti a corde come il violino e
la chitarra. Le danze tradizionali della
Moutya ed il Segà, risalgono ai giorni
della schiavitù e sono accompagnate da
canti le cui liriche sono ironiche e pungenti. Ci sono poi il Kanmtole, reminiscente delle vivaci danze di campagna
e il Kontredanse importato dalla corte
francese.

The cosmopolitan Seychellois are a

One can see these influences at work
throughout local art, cuisine, music, dance
and architecture. The architecture displays
influences from Seychelles’ French and
British colonial heritage. Creole music and
dance have their roots in African, Malagasy
and European cultures. Lively and rhythmic
dances are accompanied by simple drums
and string instruments as the violin and
guitar. The traditional dance of Moutya
and Sega dance derived from the days
of slavery with ironic songs its colorful
lyrics; and then the kanmtole, reminiscent
of a country reel, and the Kontredanse, an
import from the French court.

Bale è uno di questi. L'eroismo nel suo caso non si manifesta
nell'interpretazione del migliore e più credibile eroe-Batman
di tutti i tempi, ma nelle capacità camaleontiche di Bale stesso: per ogni suo personaggio ha dovuto lavorare sul fisico, ingrassando, dimagrendo, abbronzandosi e mettendo su o giù muscoli. Il suo
trasformismo è quasi leggendario, come nel periodo dal 2004 al 2007,
quando prima interpretò Trevor Reznick nel thriller L'uomo senza sonno. Per quel ruolo dovette perdere circa trenta chili, mangiando per
mesi una scatoletta di tonno e una mela. Iniziò perfino a fumare per
diminuire il senso di fame: la sua perdita di peso fu uno dei dimagrimenti record paragonato solo al Jake Motta di Robert De Niro in
Toro Scatenato. L'anno successivo fu chiamato da Christopher Nolan
ad interpretare Batman in Batman Begins. A soli due mesi dal casting

here are few actors capable of heroic deeds.
Christian Bale is one of those. The heroism in his
case does not occur in the interpretation of the
best and most credible-hero of all time Batman,
but in the chameleonic abilities of Bale himself: for every
character he had to work on his body, putting on weight,
losing weight, tanning and putting up or down muscles.
His transformation is almost legendary, as in the period
2004 to 2007, when he first played Trevor Reznick in the
thriller The Machinist. For that role he had to lose about
thirty kilos, eating a can of tuna and an apple for months.
He even started smoking to decrease the sense of hunger:
his weight loss was considered a record compared only to
the one of Jake Motta of Robert De Niro in Raging Bull. The

Ma chi è Giorgio Squinzi?
Giorgio Squinzi è la Mapei. Certamente, ma non soltanto. Amministratore unico di M.a.p.e.i. SpA (Materiali Ausiliari Per
Edilizia e Industria) nonché Presidente del Gruppo omonimo
composto da 68 aziende consociate, 59 stabilimenti produttivi
distribuiti in 25 paesi di tutti e 5 i continenti.
Giorgio nasce nel ’43, una manciata di anni dopo rispetto alla
piccola azienda di famiglia messa in piedi dal padre Rodolfo che

segue le orme paterne e per il suo percorso universitario sceglie una materia che gli sarà utile per il futuro imprenditoriale: nel 1969 si laurea in Chimica industriale.
L’anno successivo, insieme al padre, fonda la Mapei Snc,
assumendo la guida del comparto ricerca e sviluppo. Nel
1976 la Mapei diventa una società per azioni e Giorgio
Squinzi è nominato Direttore Generale. Nell’84 diventa
Amministratore unico. La storia di Giorgio è la storia
della Mapei.
Sotto la sua guida la Mapei inizia un processo di internazionalizzazione inarrestabile: il primo stabilimento
oltreconfine viene aperto in Canada. Ma è solo l’inizio:
oggi gli stabilimenti sono arrivati a sessanta e i dipendenti a 7.500. «Da capitano di squadra, non si deve mai smettere di
pedalare» dice Giorgio Squinzi con rassicurante fermezza. La conquista di nuovi mercati è uno dei principali
obiettivi dell’azienda. E il fattore interessante di questo

Giorgio was born in '43, only few years later than the small
family business set up by his father Rodolfo who, in the province of Milan, produces adhesives for floors. The son follows
his father's footsteps and for his university career choose a
field that will be useful for the future of the company: in 1969
he graduated in Industrial Chemistry. The following year,
along with his father, establishes the Mapei Snc, assuming
the leadership of research and development sectors. In 1976
Mapei becomes a joint-stock company and Giorgio Squinzi
is appointed Chief Executive Officer. In 1984 becomes the
sole director. Giorgio’s story is Mapei’s story.
Under his guidance, Mapei begins a great process of internationalization: the first plant out of Italy is in Canada. But
it’s only the beginning: now the plants are 60 with 7,500 employees. «If you are a team captain, you should never stop
going» says Giorgio Squinzi with reassuring steadiness. The
capture of new markets is one of the main objectives of the
company. And the interesting factor of this industrial captain
is right here: being able to become great, very great, without losing the nature of a central and family management.
The holding company of Squinzi family holds 93.95% of the
Group, while the remain part consists of Mapei shares.

With the occasion of its 75th anniversary Mapei created a commemorative video that can be viewed
on the company website www.mapei.it, in the "who
we are" page, section "75 years of Mapei." The
video traces the most important developments that
marked the political, cultural and production history
from 1937 until today: fragments of world history as
a backdrop to the story of a unique brand of Made
in Italy. The famous final scene in the Casablanca
movie, the first De Gasperi government, the Everest conquest, the hard post-war years, told by the
neorealist cinema. And when the crisis ends, finally
comes the Italian economic miracle and the mass
production of Fiat 500 and Vespa Piaggio, and then
President JFK, Mike Bongiorno, and the phenomenon of the Beatles ... and the 80’ with Material Girl
by Madonna. We go forward with the release of the

ow, in its third edition the Festival is one of the main music
events in Rome; it can boast the participation of many celebrities of the international music scene and even beyond, it
drew to the event more than 370.000 spectators. Mindful of
the past edition performances that seen on stage artists like Ben Harper,
Slash and 30Seconds to Mars, even for 2012 the line-up is equally rich.
Between 25th June and 02st August the hippodrome stage is on fire with
pure rock: Incubus, Negrita and many more will animate the capital summer with their notes.
Among the most awaited artists for this 2012 edition, which aims to consecrate the festival as a brand new in the world music and live outlook,
there will be the Radiohead and the Garbage.

Attuali, cool e sempre di moda: sono
i Garbage. Icona e voce della band la

anni fa sciolse il gruppo ora fa da collante a quello che molto probabilmente fu un errore e torna a far sentire il
rock dei Garbage nella location delle
Capannelle. I motivi che hanno spinto
la Manson a dividere la band conciliano con le spiegazioni di lucro avanzate

band is the reddish Shirley Manson, the one
who broke up the band, seven years ago
and now is the binding force of what most
probably was an error, she is back to let the
fans feel the Garbage rock in Capannelle.
The reasons that lead Mason to split up the
band are the same reasons behind the profit
made by the Radiohead themselves against
the record business. “We are no longer
submitted to the company obligations that
we had in the past – declared the drummer
Butch Vig - we don’t have pressures now:
we do what we want and we only publish
when we are ready”. The new independent album Not your kind of people, is made
entirely in the style that distinguish the Garbage and is produced under the label Stunvolume, owned by the same. Noisy guitars,
electric beats and atmosphere passages. In
a word: pure rock. Not your kind of people
is the firs work of the band recorded far from
their native land, Madison (Wisconsin). For
this occasion the album was recorded at the
Atwer Village of Los Angeles, while the mixing was performed by the band’s drummer,
Butch Vig, already producer of sound masterpieces like Siamese dream of the Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana’s Nevermind. It
seems that there are all the premises for a
great show: let the rock begins!

a più recente metamorfosi
rigenerativa di Ernesto Villanueva, situata e formulata in
Estate nel Mio giardino potrebbe essere avvenuta per osmosi e distillazione consapevole di uno stato concettuale – tanto forte quanto percettivo
– che il pittore ha diffuso attraverso
modi di rappresentare i due contesti:
l'auto-sufficiente spazialità del colore e
l'essenzialità urbana. Il Giardino simboleggia e descrive la possibilità di un ritiro in un contesto di temporaneo equilibrio. Villanueva è assimilabile al gruppo
di artisti della trans-avanguardia per-
ché Estate nel Mio giardino sottende un
linguaggio "neopost" – un linguaggio
che rifiuta la necessità di far riferimento a un'avanguardia storica con l'idea
di arte stessa come icona. Se la realtà è
la più illusoria dei costrutti dovremmo
cedere all’evidenza davanti ai nostri occhi che la visibilità dell’emozione passa,
inevitabilmente, attraverso le parole, un
processo che genera piuttosto una stra-

Il pittore descrive l'utopia dello spazio
interiore. In un certo modo, l'utopismo
del Giardino potrebbe rappresentare un
gesto con cui il pittore contrappone un
ordine morale al disordine, o un riflesso
dell’ impulsività.
In un mondo violento, aziendale, quasi
post/nazionale, iper-monitorato e tecnocratico, il Giardino rappresenta uno
spazio in riserva, una dimora esclusiva.
In esso c'è una porta – stretta e difficile
da trovare – per guadagnare l’ingresso
verso una dimensione meno imperfetta
e più sicura del mondo. Perché dipingere le infinite zone del Giardino stesso è,
per Ernesto Villanueva, come arrivare
all'umiltà di un’intima saggezza attraverso il pensiero artistico che, fortunatamente, non termina nemmeno nel trascendere i confini dell’istinto, dei sogni
e dello stato di entusiasmo.

he most recent regenerative metamorphosis of Ernesto Villanueva, located and formulated in Summer In My Garden
may have come about through osmosis and conscious distillation of the conceptual statement – as vigorous as it was
perceptive – that the painter had spread by way of series recorded in
two contexts: the self-sufficient spatiality of colour and the essentiality urban.
The Garden symbolizes and describes the possibility of a retreat in
the context of a temporary balance.
Villanueva is integrated into the group of artist of the trans-vanguard
because there is a “neopost” language implicated in Summer In My
Garden, a language that relegates the necessity for referencing the
historical vanguard with the idea of art itself as an icon. If the reality
is the most illusory construct we will have to cede to the evidence
before us that the visibility of emotion passes, inevitably, through the

Painter describes the utopia of interior space. In a certain manner,
the utopianism of the Garden could represent a gesture with which
the painter opposes a moral order of disorder, or a reflection of impulsiveness.
In a violent world, corporate, almost post/national, hyper/monitored
and technocratic, the Garden represents a space in reserve, an exclusive dwelling. In it there is a door – narrow and hard to find – to gain
access to a less imperfect and more secure dimension of the world.
Because to paint the infinite areas of the same Garden is, for Ernesto
Villanueva, like arriving at the humility of an intimate wisdom through
artistic though that, fortunately, does not end, even in transcending
the frontiers of the instinctive, dreams and the state of enthusiasm.

L’ambiguità delle immagini del giovane artista catalano, sempre sospese tra realtà e
invenzione, in mostra per tutta l’estate – dal
12 luglio al 30 settembre – nella sede espositiva della bellissima città siciliana della Fondazione Gruppo Credito Valtellinese. Oltre
cinquanta immagini di grande formato, per la
maggior parte inedite, estrinsecano la poetica
dell’autore: l’ambiguità delle visioni, sempre

mescolarsi nella fotografia dei temi dell'architettura, della città e del paesaggio. L’elemento creativo, invece, è basato su un’accurata

Catalan artist, always suspended between reality and invention are on display throughout
the whole summer – from 12th July to 30th
September – in the exhibition place of the
beautiful Sicilian town of Fondazione Gruppo Credito Valtellinese. More than fifty large
size images, mostly unpublished, express
the poetic of the author: the ambiguity of visions, always suspended between reality and
invention through the merging in the photography of themes like architecture, city and
landscape. The creative element, however, is
based on a careful research of signs that, as
highlighted by Gabriel Bauret, curator of the
exhibition «in this environment, these signs
characterize the contemporary society and
represent the culture of these days». An event
that you cannot miss to admire the works of
Jordi Bernardo, recently a guest of MAXXI in
Rome with a bunch of pieces of works.

La competizione, inaugurata all’inizio

due velisti eccezionali, Sir Francis Chichester e Sir Robin Know-Johnston,
protagonisti di una leggendaria sfida in
solitaria intorno al mondo. Quell’avventura ha fatto storia tanto da spingere la
Royal Naval Sailing Association inglese
a lanciare la Whitbread Race, probabilmente l'evento sportivo più lungo,

Le sfide internazionali hanno

bisogna sfatare il mito che la vela
sia uno sport d’elite. Mirko Coghene, 35 anni, sardo, è uno dei
tanti che ha fatto di questa disciplina una ragione di vita.
Da sempre coinvolto in gare di ogni livello, su Fj, 420, Laser, J24, Platu 25 e vela
latina, attualmente sta gareggiando nel circuito della Volvo Cup, come di timoniere del Laser SB3 Ita 3606 Asinara.
Cosa è cambiato nella vela negli ultimi anni?
Anche il mondo delle regate è stato colpito dalla crisi economica. La stessa coppa America ha rivisto il regolamento in un ottica di ottimizzazione delle risorse
ed abbassamento dei costi, tanto che le nuove barche prevedono solo 5 cinque
persone di equipaggio rispetto alle 12 della passata edizione. Inoltre gli scafi
precedenti avevano costosissime spese di progettazione e di sviluppo, mentre la
nuova formula ha nella logistica a mare il suo punto di forza. Di sicuro in questi
anni l'evoluzione più importante è stata nella semplicità e spettacolarità degli
eventi velici, che hanno abbandonato le vecchi regole dello Yachting.
Quali sono i falsi miti da sfatare?
Innanzitutto che sia uno sport d'elite. Negli ultimi anni sia le scuole sia i circoli
hanno diminuito le spese per praticare questo sport. Ad oggi infatti non è più
indispensabile possedere la barca per fare regate o uscire in barca a vela, basta
avere la passione e un imbarco lo si trova sempre.

charm, but you have to debunk the myth that sailing

In recent years what is changed in sailing?
Even the regatta world has been hit by the economic
crisis. The same America's Cup has revised the regulation to optimize resources and lowering costs, in
fact the new boats require a crew of only 5 persons
compared with 12 of the last edition. The earlier
boats had indeed high costs of design and development, while the new formula put its strengths on
the sea logistics. Certainly in recent years the most
important trend has been the simplicity and greatness of sailing events, which have abandoned the old
rules of Yachting.
What are the debunking myths?
First, that sailing is an elite sport. In recent years both
schools and clubs reduce the costs for this sport.
Now, it is no longer necessary to own the boat for
racing or to go out on a sailing boat, you need to
have the passion and you will find a boat for sure.

meet up in the Volvo Ocean
Race, adventure that, in the last
nine months, has seen these sails
navigate all the planet sea.
The competition, established in the early
'70s, was born after the deeds of two outstanding sailors, Sir Francis Chichester and
Sir Robin Know-Johnston, protagonists
of a legendary solo challenge around the
world. That famous story did so much to
push the British Royal Naval Sailing Association to launch the Whitbread Race,
probably the biggest sporting event, difficult and dangerous existing at that time.
The Whitbread Race soon confirmed its
reputation of being terribly difficult, and,
in fact, in the first edition three sailors lost
their lives in the sea because of adverse
weather conditions during a sea crossing.
Despite an unlucky start, the race was still
a success beyond expectations so much
that after that experience was re-organized every four years.
The current version of the event was launched
in the 2001-2002 season, but despite the
modern technology is still described as the
Everest of sailing competitions.
Last edition was launched in Alicante last
October and is ending in Galway, Ireland,
after more than 39.000 miles nautical,
touching the ports of Cape Town (South
Africa), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Sanya (China),
Auckland (New Zealand), Itajai (Brazil), Miami (USA), Lisbon (Portugal) and Lorient
(France).

on potete resistere davanti a un goloso soufflè, vi
viene l’acquolina in bocca al solo pensiero di una
portata elaborata? I vostri desideri culinari non
resteranno delusi ma diverranno realtà grazie a
Eataly, catena di ristorazione divenuta celebre per la qualità

loudspeakers. In the end, in Eataly Expo area will be set up an exhibit
that retraces, ironically, the political/ gastronomic history of our country
through hundred cartoons from 1861 to present days (e.g. Romano Prodi
Bologna mortadella, communists that eat babies and many more).
The glory of the new restaurant is definitely the event Show Cooking
Whirlpool; from September 2012, the event will take place regularly on
the third floor of the structure. The Whirpool project, well known household appliance manufacturer, was established in 2005 by the intuition of
Lorenzo Paolini, Chief Executive Officer and Vice President Market Operations South Europe of Whirlpool EMEA; through the show, he aims to
combine the best efficiency of the appliance with the finest culinary art.
Paolini was personally in charge of the kitchens design created for the
event, paying particular attention to the item that is the central pillar of
the merge design-gastronomy: the octagonal table, furniture and sym-

a reality thanks to Eataly, a restaurant chain famous for

Brand created by the inspiration of Oscar Farinetti, Turinese entrepreneur already owner of UniEuro, Eataly is extending day by
day its operating range throughout Italy and beyond. The chain,
born as restaurant as well as point of sale, boasts more than 19
shops – one in New York, nine in Tokyo, five in Piedmont, one in
Genoa, one in Milan and one in Bologna – and there will be a new
store in the heart of Rome. The project involves the redevelopment of the architectural work carried out by Julio Lafuente on
the occasion of Italy's World Cup '90. The building, located in
the Air Terminal of Ostiense Station, has been unused for two
decades: today, thanks to Eataly intervention, the structure covers an area of 17,000 square meters, a very wide area that makes it
the biggest point of sale of the entire chain. Four floors strategically arranged: 23 food courts, 40 teaching areas, 8 classrooms
for cooking classes, 14,000 products up for sale, 500 employees,
8 areas of production on sight, 2 meeting rooms, 1 expo area, 1
congress centre with 300 seats.

round tables with the best chefs in the world, on a monthly basis throughout the year. A shortlist of twelve chefs from Europe, America and Asia

the doors of Show Cooking are also opened to all Italian chefs who want

outh is not only a geographical place, a point on the
compass. South is a way of living, seeing, feeling, experiencing. The southern hemisphere of the world
will be the theme of the ninth edition of the Magna
Graecia Teatro Festival, itinerant theatre festival held in thirteen archaeological sites in Calabria from 15 July to 10 September 2012, under the artistic direction of Giorgio Albertazzi.
Thirteen shows are scheduled, for a total of fifty-four representations. Among these, seven are original productions for the
Festival, there will be six national premiere in Calabria, and five
are productions of companies from Calabria.
In the selection projects, Giorgio Albertazzi has preferred
those who combine cultural original proposal to elements particularly attractive to the public, namely: major names of national cultural like Rocco Papaleo, Moni Ovadia, Peppe ServiIlo, Peppe Barra, Pino Insegno, Vanessa Gravina and Edoardo
Siravo; young playwrights, directors and actors with original
texts as Emiliano Reggente and Eleonora Danco, written on
the occasion of the Festival and Calabrian realities such as Intraterrae, Scena Verticale, Scena Nuda, Roberto d’Alessandro
and Battaglia and Miseferi.

confrontarsi. Il sud del mondo sarà il tema della nona edizione del Magna Graecia Teatro Festival, rassegna teatrale

oco più che 50enne, Roberto
Bosco, artista, scrittore contemporaneo e molto altro, ama
cimentarsi in continue sfide,
facendo leva sul suo formidabile estro.
L’ultima l’ha compiuta esponendo le sue
opere in Cina, terra in cui il contrasto della sua millenaria cultura si è recentemente confrontato con il profondo e radicale
sviluppo degli ultimi anni.
Basti pensare che la pittura cinese raggiunse la sua identità durante la dinastia
Song (X-XII secolo d.c.). Nella pittura
Song appaiono spesso uomini in riverente
contemplazione dinanzi alla natura, ma
che non scompaiono più necessariamente
di fronte gli sfondi maestosamente sconvolgenti del paesaggio, bensì occupano
posizioni assolutamente centrali.
Sono passati più di 1000 anni e in Cina
lo spazio per la contemplazione è solo
un retaggio del passato. La globalizzazione, l’industrializzazione, la proliferazione della popolazione nelle metropoli
contemporanee privano gli abitanti della
propria identità e della tranquillità a causa dell’estrema velocizzazione della loro
esistenza.

formidable talent. He finished the last one
presenting his works in China, a land in
which the contrast of its ancient culture has
recently been compared with the complex
and radical growth of recent years.
Suffice to say that Chinese painting reached
its identity during the Song Dynasty (X-XII
century AD). In Song painting men often
appear in reverent contemplation in front
of the nature, but that does not necessarily
disappear in front of majestically landscape
backgrounds, but have a central positions.
Over 1000 years have passed and, in China,
the space for contemplation is just a thing
of the past. Globalization, industrialization,
the growth of population in contemporary
cities deprive people of their identity and
tranquility because of the extreme speeding of their existence.

Per questo motivo le sessanta opere dell’artista italiano Roberto Bosco, esposte nella mostra dal titolo Oltre Confine che si è
tenuta a Pechino dal 19 al 29 maggio presso gli spazi espositivi
del Today Art Museum, hanno destato la sensibilità del pubblico
cinese che si è sentito partecipe del messaggio artistico espresso. Nel corso della mostra il pubblico ha manifestato all’artista,
a volte presente, la propria ammirazione e sentita riconoscenza.
Anche l’Ambasciatore italiano Attilio Massimo Iannucci ha voluto conoscere personalmente l’artista per congratularsi direttamente con lui per il successo riscosso.
Un successo assicurato quello di Bosco, la cui arte è stata già più
volte elogiata da numerosi critici. Ad esempio il Prof. Paolo Levi
scrive di lui: «L’arte, a mio avviso, è sempre e solo un processo spirituale
creativo, frutto di un’intuizione interiore che si tramuta in forma e in
colore. L’artista, in questo contesto, è soggetto creativo solitario, mentre
l’attuale operatore sperimentale è oggetto di un’operazione di marketing
dove sono coinvolti, in un gioco delle parti, più soggetti con ruoli da comprimari, operatori estetici attenti solo alla crescita delle quotazioni, in
un mercato nazionale ed internazionale, seduttivo e ben orchestrato. Comunque l’arte, con i suoi valori più autentici di scrittura cromatica, non è
affatto scomparsa, perché non sono scomparsi gli artisti con i loro travagli
interiori, con le loro emozioni, con le loro suggestive ricerche espressive.
Sono pittori e scultori felicemente liberi, individualisti, che meditano sul
segno e sulla forma plastica. Sono alchimisti della tavolozza e della materia, ricercatori di toni e di linee capaci di dialogare poeticamente. Il
pittore Roberto Bosco è uno di questi alchimisti del segno e del colore, ma
con la capacità di vivere nel suo e nel nostro tempo».
La forza delle opere di questo pittore è proprio nella vena narrativa che viene fuori nei dipinti con naturalezza e semplicità.
Il filo che lega l’artista al pubblico è il bisogno del primo di
comunicare e di esprimere la realtà che percepisce e la compenetrazione alchemica dello sguardo dello spettatore con il suo
sentire.
Roberto Bosco ha questa grande abilità di riuscire a fare emozionare, attraverso le sue opere, persone con culture e identità
diverse ed è per questo che la sua mostra può definirsi a tutto

quegli iniziatori della civiltà nuragica in
Sardegna che arriveranno anche nelle
Baleari, a Minorca.
L'isola di Minorca è, per grandezza, la
seconda delle Isole Baleari dopo Maiorca. I due nomi derivano dagli aggettivi
latini minor e maior e testimoniano,
semmai ce ne fosse stato bisogno, la
lunga permanenza dei Romani in questi luoghi. La posizione strategica e la
particolare conformazione delle coste
hanno sempre garantito a queste isole
potenza e benessere, ma hanno anche
suscitato brame e mire di conquista.
A Minorca ogni civiltà ha lasciato un
segno del proprio passaggio, nessuno è

3500 years ago in a faraway
land, on the rugged coast
of what is now the Asiatic Turkey but that
was once known as Lydia. It is one of the
darkest periods of history. People that are
moving, people pushing, collapsing empires, new civilizations. We do not know a
lot and this has fueled the mystery. Even
the names have fascinating sounds: Shardana, Lukka, Ahhiyawa, Tursa, Shekeles,
Peleset, Danuna. Overall, they were called Sea Peoples, and maybe if exists our
civilization we owe that to them. Around
1200 B. C. from the steppes of Central Europe an enormous mass of tribes speaking
Indo-European descend to the rich and
opulent coasts of the Mediterranean: the
Phrygians into Anatolia, the Dorians into
Greece. It's the end of the Hittite empire, the dissolution of the Mycenaean, and
while the cities collapsed, the survivors of
that devastation go to the sea to look for
a fresh beginning somewhere else: some
of them will find a beautiful beginning. It
is not certain, but perhaps the Tursa were
the ancestors of the Tyrrhenian, the Etruscans; the Ahhiyawa and Danuna, Achaeans and Danaans; Shekeles, the Sicans
that will land in Sicily; Peleset the Philistines of Palestine; Lukka the Lydians; Shardana those initiators of Nuragic civilization in Sardinia also arriving in the Balearic
Islands, in Menorca.

La cucina dell'isola risente della sua storia e nei
suoi piatti riecheggiano
gli influssi di tutti i popoli
che vi hanno lasciato un
segno. A volte anzi i sapori si mescolano per via
di quella tendenza tutta
menorchina di assorbire
e far propria ogni cosa.
Il piatto tipico, soprattutto della zona di Fornells, è
senza dubbio la Caldereta de Langosta: una zuppa di
aragosta tanto semplice quanto gustosa. Altrettanto
gustosi sono il Pollastre amb salsa d'ametlles (ovvero
pollo in salsa di mandorle), le Polpette di carne, l'Oliaigua e le Formatjadas. Famosissimo è anche l'Ensaimada, il dolce tipico delle Baleari. Il piatto che però
dimostra in modo più autentico il carattere indipendente dei menorchini sono probabilmente i Fideuà,
che hanno anche una storia curiosa. Si racconta che un
giorno alcuni pescatori di ritorno dalle fatiche della pesca decisero di prepararsi una paella ma che, a cottura
quasi ultimata, si accorsero di non avere più riso; per
nulla persi d'animo, e sicuramente parecchio affamati, decisero di utilizzare un tipo di pasta corta e sottile
chiamata Fideo. La ricetta oggi impiega un tipo diverso di pasta e nei fatti risulta una variante della famosa
Paella, ma voi, per carità, non chiamatela mai così.

The island's cuisine reflects its history and in its dishes
resounds the influences of all the people who have
left their mark. Sometimes even the flavors merge
because of that typical tendency of Menorca to
absorb and endorse everything. The typical dish,
especially in the area of Fornells, is without doubt
the Caldereta de Langosta, a lobster soup as simple
as tasty. Equally tasty are the Pollastre amb salsa
d’ametlles ( chicken in almond sauce), the Meatballs,
the Oliaigua and Formatjadas. Famous is also the
Ensaimada, the typical dessert of the Balearic Islands.
However, the plate that more than other shows the
truly independent character of the inhabitants are
probably the Fideuà, that also have a curious story.
The story goes that one day some fishermen back
from the labors of fisheries decided to prepare a paella
but, when was almost cooked, they realized that they
run out of rice; without giving up, and certainly quite
hungry, decided to use a small and thin type of pasta
called Fideo. Today's recipe uses a different type of
pasta and in fact it is a variant of the famous Paella,
but for heaven’s sake, do not call it Paella!

Eden incontaminato; Cala Mitjana, Mitjaneta e Santo Tomas
sembrano invece gemme caraibiche trapiantate nel mediterraneo.
A nord, le selvagge Cala Pilar, Cala Tirant e Cala Pregonda con
dune che arrivano fino al mare; la famosissima spiaggia della Cavalleria dalla sabbia soffice come talco; le scogliere a picco e il piccolo litorale di sabbia e ciottoli di Cala Morell; Cala Carbó, con le
spettacolari pareti di roccia erose dal vento. Se poi si considera la
straordinaria ricchezza dei fondali caratterizzati da spettacolari
grotte sottomarine, non stupisce che Minorca sia stata dichiarata Riserva della Biosfera dall'Unesco già dal 1993. Minorca è
insomma un angolo di Mediterraneo rimasto pressoché intatto,

beaches of white sand and turquoise sea
fringed with pine forests; in the north the
sand is golden, the coast is more rugged
and the sea is blue, deeper blue. It is almost impossible to mention all of them
(more than 75) but some are really rare

piece of Mediterranean sea remained almost intact, away from the mass tourism
and from the homologation of modernity.
An identity that Menorca inhabitants claim
with great pride, jealously preserving their
traditions, their celebrations, their cuisine;
even the urban environment has maintained a human dimension in harmony with
nature: the houses are small, with typical
white wall perfectly integrated into the landscape, and there are no roads, only one
major road that cuts horizontally the island
and connects Mahon to Ciutadella. If at
times you would think that this is a world
that no longer reserves surprises, a world
where beauty does not seems to find more
room and where the man does everything
to destroy and spoils everything, Menorca
overturns the thesis and enjoys existing
standing out from the crowd: it smiles, shakes its head and simply continues to live as
it has done for millennia.

fin dall'antichità che il pubblico occidentale è abituato
a considerare la Sicilia come
una meta di viaggio selvaggia
e splendida, basti ripensare alle gesta
dell'Ulisse di Omero, per ricordare il fascino delle avventure tra Scilla e Cariddi.
Secondo Virgilio, nella parte occidentale
dove sorge Trapani, sarebbe morto l'anziano padre di Enea, l'eroe troiano da cui
nacque Roma. Per i Romani, invece, Drepanon – antico nome di Trapani – sarebbe
la falce caduta dalle mani delle dea della
fertilità Cerere, o ancora, una trasformazione di Saturno, che si mutò nell'arco di
terra dove sorge la città, diventandone
così il dio patrono.
Ancora oggi la punta più occidentale
dell'isola, protesa verso il Tirreno aperto,
rimane uno dei luoghi simboli del Mediterraneo per le suggestioni in grado di
suscitare nei viaggiatori.
Trapani è la città più importante di quella
parte della regione e la posizione favorevole del suo porto l’ha resa centro nevralgico per la produzione del sale e per
i commerci con la vicina Africa. Terra di
numerose conquiste, Trapani conserva
ancora i ricordi e le tracce delle colonizzazioni che la Sicilia occidentale ha subìto.
Il centro storico è un dedalo di viuzze dal
sapore arabeggiante: ci si può imbattere
nell’antico quartiere ebraico dove svetta
il Palazzo della Giudecca, oppure nella
Chiesa del Purgatorio dove sono conservati i Misteri di Trapani, gruppi scultorei
del ‘700 che ogni anno, nel giorno del
Venerdì Santo, vengono portati in processione.
Di sera si può fare una passeggiata sul Viale delle Sirene, vicino alla bella Torre di
Ligny, una vera e propria terrazza sul mare
dalla quale godere tanto del paesaggio
quanto del fresco dopo una giornata nel
Lungomare di Trapani. Sullo sfondo, la torre di Ligny

calore siciliano. A sud della città, nell'area
della Riserva naturale di Trapani e Paceco, le saline rappresentano una preziosa
testimonianza di archeologia industriale
e sono il luogo dove una specie rarissima
e delicata come il fenicottero rosa viene
a riprodursi.
Poco distante dal centro abitato si trova
la Costa dello Zingaro, che si estende per
sette chilometri dalla parte Occidentale
del Golfo di Castellammare fino alla penisola di San Vito Lo Capo, in un'area naturalisticamente intatta. Qui la costa alterna falesie e rilievi di natura dolomitica
e in modo ripido degrada verso il mare in
calette e piccole spiagge vergini. La varietà della flora e della fauna di questa riserva è impressionante: la macchia mediterranea, in estate profumata e riarsa, offre
ospitalità a ben 39 specie di uccelli. Una
biodiversità così stupefacente da essere

According to Virgil, in the western side,
where there is Trapani, the elderly father of
Aeneas would have died, the Trojan hero
who gave birth to Rome. For the Romans,
however, Drepanon – the ancient name of
Trapani – would be the scythe fallen from
the hands of the fertility goddess Ceres,
or more, a transformation of Saturn, which
was turned to the piece of land where the
city was established, thus becoming the
god patron.
Even today, the most western tip of the island, stretched towards the Tyrrhenian Sea,
remains one of the symbols of the Mediterranean due to the suggestions that can rise
into the travelers.
Trapani is the most important city of that
part of the region and the favorable location of its harbour has made it a nerve
center for salt production and trade with
neighboring Africa. Land of many conquests, Trapani still preserves the memories and traces of colonization that western
Sicily has suffered. The old town is a maze
of narrow streets with Arabic taste: you can
run into the old Jewish quarter where the
Palazzo della Giudecca stands, or in the
Church of Purgatory where they kept the
Mysteries of Trapani, sculptural groups of
‘700 that every year, the day of Good Friday, are carried in procession.
In the evening you can have a walk on Viale delle Sirene, near the beautiful Tower of
Ligny, a veritable terrace upon the sea from
which you can enjoy the landscape and
the fresh air after a Sicilian hot day. To the
south, in the natural reserve of Trapani and
Pacheco, salt mines represent the industrial archeology and the place where a rare
and delicate species like the pink flamingo
come to breed.
Not far from the town lies the Zingaro
coast, which extends for seven kilometers
from the western Gulf of Castellammare
to the peninsula of San Vito Lo Capo, in
an untouched naturalistic area. Here the
coast alternates between cliffs and dolomites mountains and slopes steeply to the
sea in small creeks and virgin beaches. The
variety of flora and fauna of this reserve is

La Sicilia è un triangolo nel mezzo del Mediterraneo,
le sue punte sembrano indicarne gli angoli. è da tutti
i cantoni del mare nostrum che provengono gli ospiti
del Cous Cous Fest, una rassegna internazionale di
cucina incentrata sul piatto più diffuso tra i popoli dell'Europa meridionale e dell'Africa del Nord. Al
Festival, che si tiene a San Vito Lo Capo dal 1998,
partecipano chef provenienti da Francia, Israele, Italia, Marocco, Palestina, Tunisia, ma anche dalla Costa
d'Avorio e dal Senegal. Lo scopo della competizione
è quello di rielaborare e proporre nuove versioni del
cous cous nell'alveo tracciato dalla tradizione culinaria
dei rispettivi paesi dei partecipanti. L’evento è un'occasione per dibattiti e incontri culturali estremamente
variegati e particolari e il suo scopo è di coinvolgere
in una atmosfera festosa gli ospiti provenienti da una

interessante non solo per gli esperti di bird watching o per i naturalisti,
ma anche per i normali turisti curiosi di scoprire una delle più ricche
espressioni della natura nel continente europeo. Numerosi sentieri si
snodano a diverse altezze della costa, permettendo ai visitatori di scegliere il percorso più adatto alle proprie capacità. L'area è comodamente
accessibile da Scopello o da San Vito Lo Capo ed è possibile visitare un
piccolo Museo Naturalistico e un'area da picnic, per poi arrivare alle
calette di Punta Capreria, due spiagge di ciottoli tra le rocce. Proseguendo il cammino ci si imbatte nella contrada di Marinella e nella sua
caletta, fino a giungere alla grotta dell'Urso, un’antica traccia della presenza umana in questa parte della Sicilia. Inerpicandosi invece per la
lunga camminata del sentiero panoramico con i suoi morbidi tornanti,
è possibile giungere al Bosco di Scardina, e più su, godere di una vista
panoramica unica.
San Vito Lo Capo è la punta estrema della Sicilia Occidentale e ha fama
di essere uno degli scenari più belli per un soggiorno estivo in Sicilia:
dalla sommità di Monte Monaco è infatti possibile provare l’emozione
unica di godere della vista dei tre golfi di Castellammare, di San Vito e
Cofano e, nelle giornate di grande visibilità, anche dell'isola di Ustica. È
un vero e proprio paradiso naturale: con il suo mare, circondato da una
splendida spiaggia di sabbia fine e da frammenti di rosso corallo San
Vito lo Capo è stata eletta migliore spiaggia italiana del 2011.

COUS COUS FEST 15th edition
Sicily is a triangle in the middle of the Mediterranean;
its tips seem to indicate the corners. And from all mare
nostrum corners come the guests for Cous Cous Fest,
an international exhibition of culinary arts centered
on the plate more widespread among the people of
southern Europe and North Africa. Chefs from France,
Israel, Italy, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia participate
to the festival, held in San Vito Lo Capo since 1998, but
also from the Ivory Coast and Senegal, where the dish
is also popular. The aim of the competition is to rework
new versions of couscous
from the culinary tradition of
the participants’ countries.

a Nazione territorialmente più estesa dell’America Centrale
(circa 130 mila km2 per oltre 5 milioni di abitanti), indipendente
dal 1838 e con un turbolento passato recente (da soli sedici anni
si è conclusa la rivoluzione sandinista, con anni di guerriglia e
dittatura militare), è una terra da vedere e da gustare, che nasconde meraviglie inaspettate anche nei suoi angoli meno appariscenti.
Managua, la capitale, posta sulla costa meridionale del lago omonimo
(chiamato anche Xolotlan, termine derivato dalla lingua azteca), è una città atipica: ha avuto un’espansione caotica dopo il devastante terremoto
che l’ha colpita nel 1972 e ora possiede un centro storico quasi del tutto
in rovina e un’interminabile periferia. Per il visitatore è d’obbligo come
prima tappa una visita al Plaza de la República, circondata del Museo Nacional e dal Palacio Nacional de la Cultura.
Tra i monumenti storici che vi si affacciano spicca anche la Catedral Vieja,

gravemente danneggiata dal terremoto del ’72 e attualmente ancora in restauro. Elegante nella sua struttura
all’avanguardia e con un’ottima acustica interna è invece
il Teatro Nazionale Rubèn Darío (Darío è il principale
poeta nicaraguense).
Per il resto, Managua è negozi e grandi centri commerciali ma anche possibilità di un contatto diretto con la
natura: ad esempio attraverso la visita del Masaya Volcano National Park, dove i visitatori hanno la possibilità di
guidare fino al cratere e godere della vista spettacolare.
Il Parco è a soli dieci minuti di guida da Managua.
La città ha un unico aeroporto internazionale, Augusto
C, Sandino, che da ora dispone anche di voli per Roma,
Italia. Il Nicaragua non possiede una rete ferroviaria, ma
ci si può spostare agevolmente in autobus o in taxi, dati
i prezzi decisamente contenuti. Per esempio, in un’ora e
un quarto di autobus, al costo di poco più di 20 cordoba
(neppure 1 euro), si può raggiungere León, l’antica capitale del Paese, situata a 90 km a nord di Managua, una
metropoli estesa di 300 mila abitanti costituita perlopiù
da case basse a un piano e da numerose chiese barocche.

The country’s capital, Managua, is on the
southern coast of Lake Managua (also called
Xolotlán, a term derived from the Aztec language) and is an atypical city as it was expanded after the devastating earthquake that struck in 1972 and now has an historical center with wide suburbs.
For visitors, a must-visit destination is the Republic’s Central Plaza, surrounded by the National Museum and the National Palace of Culture. Among the
historical monuments that overlook the city, the Old Cathedral stands out,
severely damaged by the earthquake but is currently under restoration. Elegant in its avant-garde structure while with excellent acoustics is the Rubén
Darío National Theater, named after a famous Nicaraguan poet.
For the rest, Managua has shops and commercial centers but also offers the
possibility of having direct contact with nature, for example by visiting the
Masaya Volcano National Park, where visitors can drive all the way to the
crater and enjoy the spectacular view. This park is only at a 10-minute drive
from Managua.
The city has an international airport, Augusto C. Sandino, which will now offer flights to Rome, Italy. In Nicaragua there isn’t a railroad network, but you
can easily move by bus or taxi because the prices are considerably low. For
example, an hour and a half bus ride can cost you approximately 20 Córdobas (less than 1 euro), with which you can reach León, the country’s ancient
capital located 90 km north of Managua, a metropolis of 300,000 inhabitants
and known for its one-floor houses and numerous baroque churches.
Nicaragua’s coasts are an endless group of beaches not yet affected by
mass tourism. On the Pacific coast you’ll find Poneloya and the most beautiful seashores, which include Casares, la Boquita, Pochomil, Masachapa and
Montelimar, where you can practice a lot of water sports, including surfing,
windsurfing and kayaking. In the southern region of Rivas (almost at the bor-

Sia sul versante del Pacifico (a ovest) sia su quello del Mar dei
Caraibi (a est), le coste del Nicaragua vedono un interrotto succedersi di spiagge non ancora intaccate dal turismo di massa.
Sulla costa del Pacifico, spostandoci a sud di Poneloya, tra i
litorali più belli troviamo quelli di Cesares y la Boquita, di Pochomil y Masachapa e di Montelimar, dove è possibile praticare
numerosi sport acquatici, tra cui surf, windsurf e kayak.
Nell’area più meridionale, nella regione di Rivas (quasi al confine con il Costa Rica) troviamo invece, a corollario di una baia
incantevole, le tranquille riviere di San Juan del Sur, di Playa
Maderas, di Chocolente y La Flor, di El Coco (con il suo parco marino dove nella stagione estiva depone le uva la tartaruga
Paslama). Spostandoci invece sulla costiera caraibica, tra reef
corallini e fitte foreste di mangrovie, sono imperdibili le Islas de
Maíz, l’arcipelago di Cayos Miskitos e Cayos Perlas.
Se al relax delle spiagge assolate si preferisce la cultura, la meta
è sicuramente Granada, a una quarantina di chilometri da Managua: chiamata, non a torto, “La Gran Sultana”, è uno dei centri coloniali più belli dell’America Centrale. Le sue luminose
architetture, dai tipici colori pastello, con i caratteristici patii
ricchi di piante tropicali, ne incorniciano i viali e i vicoli.
Il fulcro cittadino è il Parque Central, un giardino sempre piuttosto animato, con bancarelle che vendono manifattura artigianale e alcune squisitezze della gastronomia locale, tra cui il
vigoron, piatto a base di cotenna di maiale, verdure, frutta e
spezie. Tutt’attorno sono collocati i principali edifici cittadini, tra cui il Municipio e l’imponente Cattedrale del XVII e
XVIII secolo: della Mercedes e della Recollección, di San Juan
Bautista di Sutiava e di San Francisco. Presso la Fundaciòn Ortiz Gurdian, centro artistico di primo piano, sono invece conservati, tra gli altri, capolavori di Correggio, Braque, Chagall,
Matisse e Picasso. Che l’avventura abbia inizio!

cathedrals of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Mercedes
and Recolección, San Juan Bautista de Sutiava and San Francisco. At
the Fundación Ortiz Gurdian, an important artistic center you may
find pieces by Correggio, Braque, Chagall, Matisse and Picasso. Let

uesta filastrocca sull’uomo dei muffin appartiene alla tradizione anglosassone e compare per la
prima volta su un manoscritto del 1820. La stessa
canzoncina testimonia le origini antiche del muffin e il ruolo di carattere sociale che questo dolce
ha nella tradizione inglese e americana. Nei due Paesi si è tramandata una ricetta differente.
I muffin inglesi sono piatti, a forma di disco, tradizionalmente
cotti sulla griglia. Tagliati a metà vengono farciti di marmellata
e burro. Probabilmente le origini di questa ricetta vanno ricondotte al X-XI secolo in Galles. I muffin americani sono cotti in
stampi monoporzioni, necessari per via di un impasto molto

appears for the first time on a manuscript in 1820. This song proves the ancient
origins of the muffin and the social role of this cake in English and American
tradition. In the two countries the recipe is different.
The English muffins are flat, disc-shaped, traditionally cooked on the grill. Cut in halves,
they are filled with jam and butter. Probably the origins of this recipe can be traced to
the X-XI century in Wales. The American muffins are baked in single portion mould, due
to a mix that is very similar to a batter.
The American variety is certainly the best known, probably thanks to the many food
chains that have made the tasty culinary creation their main item. American Muffin!
Sweet or savory, small cakes or soft buns, shaped like a mushroom. The rising and especially the wise use of the whisk make their typically soft dough. The word muffin has
uncertain origin; it could be derived from the French moufflet, which means precisely
"soft", or from German muffen which means “small cakes”. Neither hypothesis should
not rule out.
For the occasion, we suggest the savory version with bacon and onions: a titbit!

8 gr di lievito per impasti salati

50 gr di Parmigiano
50 gr di Pecorino

1 ciuffo di prezzemolo
150 gr di pancetta
200 gr di cipolle
e soprattutto il sapiente uso della frusta
rendono il loro impasto tipicamente soffice. La parola muffin è di origine incerta,
potrebbe derivare dal francese moufflet,
che significa per l’appunto “soffice”, oppure dal tedesco muffen, "piccole torte".
Nessuna delle due ipotesi è da escludere.
Per l’occasione proponiamo la versione
salata alla pancetta e cipolle: una ghiottoneria!
Due sono le regole principali della preparazione base del muffin americano: la
prima, lavorare separatamente gli ingredienti secchi (farina setacciata e lievito)
200 g floor
8 gr baking powder for savory
dough
100 ml milk
3 whole eggs
100 ml seed oil
50 gr Parmesan
50 gr Pecorino
Salt
1 bunch of parsley
150 g bacon
200 g onions
da quelli umidi (uova, latte, olio di semi);
la seconda, sbattere le uova tanto da fare
triplicare il volume del composto iniziale.
Utilizziamo due ciotole per i differenti ingredienti; con la frusta sbattiamo a lungo
le uova intere, dopodiché aggiungiamo il latte e l’olio e amalgamiamo. A piacimento aggiungiamo il
prezzemolo tritato. Nella seconda ciotola setacciamo la farina insieme al lievito. A questo punto siamo pronti per unire il composto della
prima ciotola a quello della farina. Nel
frattempo facciamo appassire la cipolla
tagliata grossolanamente in padella e in
una seconda padella rosoliamo la pancetta tagliata a cubetti. A questo punto tutto
è pronto per essere unito al composto:
incorporiamo i formaggi grattugiati, le
cipolle e la pancetta e aggiustiamo di sale.
Versiamo il composto nei pirottini e inforniamo a 180°C per circa 20-25 minuti.
E se volete godervi lo spettacolo, potete
sedervi a gambe incrociate davanti al vostro forno e guardare attraverso la magia
che fa lievitare i vostri primi piccoli sfizi
salati di Drury Lane.

There are two main rules governing the basic preparation of
American muffin: the first, working separately the dry ingredients (flour and baking powder) and the wet ones (eggs, milk, oil
seeds); the second, beat the eggs so much to do triple the volume of the starting mix.
We begin with the division of the ingredients into two different
bowls; with the whisk beat the eggs a lot, then add the milk and
oil. and mix. If you want, add the chopped parsley. In the second
bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder. At this point we are
ready to join the first mix to the one with the flour, mix everything
without worrying if the result is not smooth.
Meanwhile, fry gently the chopped onion in a pan and in another
pan do the same with the bacon in cubes to make it crispy, but
without letting it dry out.
At this point everything is ready to be joined in the mix: incorporate the grated cheese, onions and bacon. Add salt to season
them. With a ladle put the mix into baking cups and bake at 180°

When Captain Gordon stumbles upon a conspiracy to destroy (again!) Gotham city, finds

Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’Unione Europea ha adottato nuove
regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi che
possono essere introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole
si applicano nei confronti tutti i passeggeri in partenza
dagli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea verso qualsiasi destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il
relativo bagaglio a mano devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi.
Comunque, le nuove regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere
acquistati presso gli esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di
viaggio od a bordo di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’Unione Europea.
Le nuove regole si applicano a partire da lunedì 6 novembre 2006, in tutti gli aeroporti
dell’Unione Europea, in Norvegia, Islanda e Svizzera a meno di eventuali modifiche.
To protect you against the new threat of liquid explosives, the European Union (EU)
introduced new security rules to limit the amount of liquids that you can take through
security checkpoints. They apply to all passengers departing from EU airports to all
destinations.
This means that, at security checkpoints, you and your hand luggage must be inspected for liquids screening in addition to other prohibited articles. However, the new rules
do not limit the liquids that you can buy at shops located beyond the checkpoints.
The new rules are in force as to Monday 6th November 2006 at all airports in the EU
and in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland until further notice.

Jet Lag

habits). In the event of a longer trip, it is advisable to get used to local time as
soon as possible and to conduct a regular and healthy life. Remember that getting over jet lag is generally quicker when travelling westwards than eastwards.

To help you feel better when you fly with us, just follow these tips and suggestions
designed to enhance your well being on board
Stare a lungo seduti in una stessa posizione può farvi sentire a disagio sull’aereo. Sgranchitevi gambe e
braccia ogni due ore circa. Alzatevi di tanto in tanto
e camminate su e giù per il corridoio oppure fate i
semplici esercizi* di stretching illustrati per prevenire
problemi circolatori.
Prolonged sitting in a fixed position can make you feel
uncomfortable in the plane. Every few hours, stretch
your arms and legs or carry out some easy exercises*
suggested below.
Consumate pasti leggeri, mangiate con moderazione
e limitare bevande gassate, tè e caffè.
Eat a light meal and moderate you intake of fizzy
drinks, tea and coffee.
Moderate il consumo di bevande alcoliche, poiché
queste sono assorbite più facilmente dal corpo ad alta
quota a causa della bassa pressione dell’aria all’interno della cabina.
Moderate your intake of alcohol.
In caso di permanenza prolungata a bordo è consigliato sostituire le lenti a contatto con degli occhiali
per evitare irritazioni oculari. Togliete sempre le lenti
a contatto prima di dormire.
In case of a long flight it is recommended to wear eyeglasses rather than contact lenses. Remove contact
lenses before sleeping.
*Vi suggeriamo di sospendere immediatamente questi esercizi se
causano dolore o disagio.
Bevete molta acqua naturale, meglio se in piccole
quantità e spesso.
Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.

Iniziate gli esercizi stando seduti in modo comodo
ed eretto.
Start the exercise by sitting in comfortably in your
seat in an upright position.
Poggiate entrambi i piedi sul pavimento. Flettete i
piedi puntando i talloni in su e poi in giù. Ripetete per
cinque volte.
Rest both feet on the floor. Flex both feet with toes
pointing upward, then point your toes downward
Perform this exercise five times.

Sollevate dolcemente il ginocchio verso il busto per
alcuni secondi, poi lasciatelo andare, poggiando
nuovamente il piede sul pavimento. Fate lo stesso
con l’altra gamba. Ripetete cinque volte per gamba.
Raise you knee gently towards the chest for a few
seconds and then release, placing your feet back on
the floor. Continue with the other leg. Repeat five
times for each leg.
Mettete le mani sotto una coscia e sollevatele dolcemente verso il busto. Ruotate la caviglia in modo
circolare per 5 secondi. Ripetete con l’altra gamba.
Ripetete questo esercizio cinque volte per gamba.
Place your hands under one thigh, and gently lift toward your chest. Rotate your ankle in a circular motion for 5 seconds. Repeat with the other leg. Perform
this exercise five times with both legs.
